GCam ZCam 3.8.01149 front cam for photos not working after UI 2.5 update? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Themes, Apps

I have the S20 Ultra with Exynos
As the title suggests GCam ZCam 3.8.01149 was working just fine in all modes before the UI 2.5 update but after that front portrait/camera mode does not. Front cam video works though and all rear cam modes just fine.
I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the folders and uninstalling/reinstalling the app but the issue remains.
Anyone has experienced the same issue? Seems weird

Front will not work as Gcam requires RAW support to get the cam working but one ui 2.5 removed raw support from front. Zoran can't do anything about this cuz even after root you can't replace lib files so no hope for now. Just report this in samsung community to add the raw support back to front then only it will work.

I’ve ended up downgrading back to 2.1 as I need Gcam more than the goodies from 2.5. Wireless Dex is probably the one that I’ll miss the most but I can live with that until this is resolved.

The one thing gcam does infinitely better than the stock camera is portrait mode.. Or any pictures involving people tbh. Everything else it probably does it better.

I’ve installed 7.4 and it’s running ok. Portrait mode for the front facing camera is hit and miss for me, sometimes the photos just come up as a black image and at times it works.
Everything else works well so far though.

Nope. There is no Wide lens on Google Pixel

I tested it and it really makes the G6 camera live up to its true potential! Cant believe the difference http://imgur.com/a/blrWe
For anyone that also uses Norton, there is a conflict and Norton will flag it as maleware. You can't "trust" it and you can't dismiss the Norton notification.
Everything works for me except photosphere. It will capture a photosphere image, but it's distorted and stretched.
Despite that, the HDR+ function works so good, and I think it looks better than the LG camera.
I've tested it, result: both are good, but LG more real and google HDR+ more punchy. However I fiind LG calera better...
No matter how much 3rd party camera offers, only stock camera takes better picture.
thanks for this post! wouldn't know otherwise, i did test it and its pretty awesome!
Especially more realistic colours in low light if you can keep the camera stable. Not to be used for moving subjects.
In Daylight, the G6's camera is great by itself so i probably won't use it in those scenarios.

Left is LG Camera, Right is Google camera w/ HDR+
Real life looked very close to how the Google camera processed the image.
@dkimmortal that comparison is great! Can't believe how Google app made a difference there!
Here's my quick comparison also, difference is night and day! What's wrong with LG?
Testing it so far seems its shocking in low light? Images are so noisy, poor colour.
Sounds great, but can't even get it to install on my G6 (european).
I Download the apk, click ist to install, but just can't hit the "install" button, just "cancel".
Of course "other sources" are allowed in settings. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

You may have some app that have screen overlay on (draw over other apps) like screen rotation or f.lux. Find it and disable that permission when install this.
Tried it today in low light and its a significant improvement. Not sure about daylight so will look at that as well. Obvioulsy only works with one lens.
Mine keeps crashing sometimes when I take a photo - I think it might be due to setting the resolution at 16:9 (9.7mp) resolution. Missed a great shot as well!

Any other improvements compared to Huaweis app?
As far as we can tell, this camera port relies on the Hexagon 680 DSP on a Snapdragon SoC for image processing, which is why this port does not work on other SoCs such as Kirin, Exynos, and MediaTek.
Does it work or not?
Answer: no, it doesn't

no, 2nd link for snapdragon is the one that works
For the peeps who are saying that it works, yes it works but there is no difference in the photo, I tried this app like five days ago and also tried with the latest release even tho I knew that it needs the snapdragon DSP to work, the app crashes if you change settings and choose limited plus the other recommendations that they give on the thread where they have the app. I tried all of the settings made several photos indoor and outdoor and it doesn't work it just takes the pictures like any other camera app would, it doesn't even have the HDR mode activated, a proof of that is that if you try to take a picture with the regular camera app on HDR and with the HDR+ activated from the app you can clearly see the difference of one that works on HDR and one that doesn't . Video recording also is broken on 60fps and slow motion as well. I uninstalled the app after a couple of days trying it out with every option possible . But the truth is "IT DOESNT PROVIDE ANY BENEFITS OVER THE REGULAR CAMERA APP" with out the HDR+ it's just as any other camera app out there. Honestly I been playing lots with the P10 camera app and have found that it truly is a great cam, I would recommend shooting in RAW mode and using Snapseed for editing. Plus Snapseed has some useful tips on how to improve your skills with photography.

It would be great to have something like hdr+, even if it's software-enabled, for our Huawei's camera. I have a P10 lite now, but my previous handset was a Nexus 5X, and hdr+ is the only thing I miss right now.

Google Camera Port

Hey guys and girls.
i had an nexus 5x before i switched to the Samsung Gang (A520F)
Loved my nexus , but they used weak chips (my Nexus just died and thats when i first heard of this issue)
What i most liked bout the Nexus 5x, was its camera. HDR+ shot were really fantastic, popping colors and were awesome to look at.
lot of people liked this camera and its software, so this guy is porting the camera app to other devices.

really awesome work. tried it few times before, but the current release is working on the Samsung A520F.
i was just glad to be able to take photos, and compared it to the standard camera app, it's way better!!
much sharper , and i did not experiment much till now, there are plenty of option to around with.. so please give it a try and share your settings.

When i switch to front camera i have a FC, please help.Thank you.
Well yes, also FC when switch to front cam.
Other settings also seem to have no influence on the image. Sadly no processing.
Hope it will work somehow.

Try one of the updated versions from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3/how-to/google-camera-hdr-b-s-g-port-version-t3659879/page22
For me it's working - at least partially. Front cam and auto HDR are broken.
One version, the installer tells me it's not suitable for my phone - an A3. It was an apk file.
Hello @SchWeinSAuG, could you please upload your APK file or tell which version you used? I've tried a few and I can't get HDR+ to work, even when using your settings.
It works but with 2 problems. The flash is out of sync and the pics are too dark compared with the normal app.
As someone said earlier, the photos don't look that different from the stock camera. I tried many parameters and got basically the same results.
Could someone tell me if the Google Camera app runs on your A5 2017 and what is the version that you use?
I downloaded an application some time ago but the HDR + did not work, nor have I obtained better results than with the stock camera.
I would like someone to tell me if the HDR + works and if the photos are better than with the stock, and also what is the configuration to do in the settings for it.
Also, I would like to know if there's any option to activate the Digital Stabilizer for the videos in the app.
If there is one that works well, put the download link, please!
Thank you very much!

Alright, so GCam isn't a universal app. Their are many version that are unique to every phone, and update may make them not compatible. The one guy behind the GCam you used had your device in his hand, and modded the Google camera to make it work with your device (which isn't a Google pixel).
The update may have broke the version you used, but the developer, if he still update GCams for your phone, may push a new update to fix this. So the best you can do is wait for the update.
Have a good day

Front camera and other cameras will not work with GCam because they do not support the Camera2API. At least that's what I think. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Another thing...please don't complain that it's laggy. There is nothing that I can do about that. This port is not as well optimized as BSG's. You can try BSG's port. I haven't had time to test the latest version yet.

I use 3387 on my S20+ Exynos. However, I believe that the ZGcam only works on S20, S20+, and S20 FE. Not on the S20 Ultra.
Have you tried Urnyx05's version? Try the attached config. HDR doesn't work.
Thanks you, that's work no good, night mode crash, front caméra too, and sometime, without reason, apps complete crash.
I will wait for another version.

I am using ZGCAM 7.4 V1.03387 but is it just me or is the s20 not supported generaly?
Either other mods wont install,
if they install, they crash.
HDR not working, or not saving pictures, or green images....
There is a slight improvement with ZGCam though, but i would like to use ALL options.
Telegram group does not even bother to answer me.

I will let you know if I find anything for S20 exynos!
You can try GCam Go. It works on pretty much all phones.
Link to Wichaya's GCam Go.

Thanks buddy, but that is a very minimalistic GCam.
Besides, night mode makes the image darker instead of lighter, there is no HDR or video settings.
ZGCam does work though and improves daytime photography.
Sad to see a phone that costs this much with an over-hyped camera which is ****e.
I have posted a new update to the xml in OP.
Unfortunately when i tapping there to choose script i receive a message "memory not found"

Did you put the config file in the right folder?
You can follow my instructions here:
