V40 magisk module turn off camera and screenshot sound - LG V40 Themes, Apps, and Mods

This module was written by Vlad48 for the V50, I made a slight change for it to work with V40. My V40 is running NAO Pie, and this module works on it, but has not been tested on any other V40 variants.
While there's another option to accomplish this; 1 being an app from playstore, which doesn't appeal to me as I'd prefer to install as few apps as possible. Another option is using adb and su and changing carrier id to VZW, that didn't work for me (it booted and said 'not an VZW sim' and phone app kept stopping).
I've changed this module to include both of the dir paths for the 40 and (original) 50, so I **think** it should work on both 40 and 50 and both Pie and Q. Please indicate if this does or doesn't work for you if you have any of those variants, thnks.
gdrive link to the 40 and 50 new one.
Cheers

Thank you for this. It works great my V35.

How to change DPI non-root?

Just got the G5 to move back from iPhone to android. Hate iPhone! But it's silly that my iPhone 6S can fit more content on the screen and it is a highly inferior screen than the G5...
Is there any easy way to change DPI without being root? What's the recommended DPI for this screen without breaking apps like camera?
Ideally would like to root and install app settings & xposed but not sure if my model can be rooted yet. It's the international model bought from EE in the UK.
How do I check for locked bootloader?
Rockin my G5
Hello, I know i'm late but I just got my G5 today and was looking for information much like you were but didn't find any so i experimented. to note, i do have the t-mobile variant so obviously if you have a different version of the phone your results could be different. I haven't tried any DPI's lower than 560 but that being said 560 seems to be perfectly stable and was easily changed through adb! and WOW does it make a difference on this device! for me at least, 560 seems to be the sweet spot! Really, i don't understand why OEM's don't set their DPI's to reasonable settings in the first place.. i mean, we have quad-hd displays for androids sake, LET US USE THEM.. anyways, rant aside:
You'll want to install ADB and the LG drivers obviously but once that's setup go to your phone, enable developer options and enable USB debugging and OEM unlock (the latter may not be necessary but my device wasn't being recognized initially so i enabled it. Also, for some reason i'm finding with this phone that it doesn't want to be recognized in MTP (file transfer) mode but seems to work fine in "camera mode".
first, type "adb devices" to make sure that the device is being recognized.
once your device is being recognized by adb (it may say unauthorized, ignore this) simply type the following command.
"adb shell wm density 560 && adb reboot"
or you can obviously change out the number to whatever DPI you want, but the lower you go the higher the chance that things like the camera will stop working properly. So far i have not had any issues at all with any system apps, the camera seems to have scaled perfectly as it should and this is generally the app that breaks for me. if i find any apps or anything not working i'll update my post here, but so far so good!
I hope this helps you out! If you have any further questions let me know!!
(little update, first and ONLY thing i've had issues with is the "always on display" doesn't seem to show time correctly.. oh well!! its a very fair trade and since the always on display can be shut off in settings its not even an eyesore. )
Hey bud,
Tried setting it to 560 using this method, think its probably a tiny bit too small, would probably prefer maybe in the middle between 640 (stock) and 560. I noticed that on 560 swiftkey didnt work properly (cant live without swiftkey!!) and as you said, the always on display showing time - signature works fine though.
Have reverted it for now, maybe yourself or someone will find a perfect number which gives minimal issues with apps. Otherwise, might just wait on root to edit the build.prop instead.

so try a different DPI? just replace 560 in the command with whatever you want to and see how it looks. only takes a couple minutes to do. also, if you like swiftkey.. you should really try Swype. much better keyboard and it scales perfectly with and dpi i've ever tried on any phone.

You need to search for the LG H850 on LG's website. H850 is the actual model number. But as other comments suggest, the drivers for the V10 will probably work fine.
Any working dpi's without bootloops? I don't use always on Display

I've got my dpi set to 540, anything lower causes stability issues.

Are there any issues with any of the apps at 540 DPI? Any chance you could post a picture of the settings screen or something with the DPI at 540?

Thank you! That looks awesome. I'm going to do this now.
Edit: SwiftKey does not seem to like the new DPI... keyboard is all messed up looking, haha.
I'm using 600 on mine, everything seems fine.
Is this a code that can be used on any phone? Could I use this on my Xperia Z5?????
I'm using 560 as someone suggested, and LastPass doesnt scale properly and PlaySTore, the blue top dev icon is too large, otherwise no problems at all.
I tried this with 540. Here's the list of things that weren't working right:
Uber | sprites like cars and pins were tiiiiiiiiiiny or squished. Still useable but not pretty.
Anything that required photo cropping or editing (Instagram, Bumble, etc) the photos were multiples larger than they should be | For instance, in instagram, you'd share a photo to it and it'd show up in the initial cropping window as huuuuuge and unscalable, but if you hit next it'd be normal size. So you just had to use guesswork to position the photo.
Swiftkey keyboard | As reported, also displayed HUGE, even though it responded to key presses in the right places.
Starbucks | Also seeing the "dots" on the map that show locations as super tiny. Not a big deal here.
In general, it seems anything that overlays graphical elements or that brings up photos for editing is at risk. I miss how this worked on my G4, but I guess that's because I did it via root. Can't wait.
Reseted the dpi but the always on Screen and the home button are still broken.
Weird thing. I used "wm density x" too, and, well... anything different than 640 (default), and android.process.phone keeps crashing....

I'm sorry to those of you having problems.. Not sure what to tell you though, I changed my dpi to 560 the day I got my phone and the one and only issue I've had so far is my always on display not working right. Every other app has worked flawlessly. For those having problems, what variant of the phone do you own? H830 here

Minimum width developer setting missing

Anyone else noticed in the developer options, the setting to change the DPI (minimum width) is just not there? Never run into an Android phone on Nougat missing this setting before. Anyone know if there's a way to adjust it or get it back?
It was missing on the G6 too. Bastards, lol.

Is there any kind of workaround? The default sizing of everything is just too big.
My G6 is my backup phone, so I haven't tried anything to remedy this. I did read that there is a way to do it through ABD commands, but I haven't tried it myself. We used to have root for US LG phones, and changing the dpi was one of the first things I'd do. Changing the dpi would break several of the LG apps, so perhaps they removed the option in order to avoid that.
I remember trying to use ADB commands when I had the AT&T LG G6, and it didn't work. I assume that the V30 won't work either, so I haven't even tried. If you want to try, Google how to change dpi with ADB command, then let us know if it works or not. :good:

Xtended Settings xposed module

Xtended settings app is now available for samsung touchwiz oreo roms which overcomes reading shared prefs from android server system hooks (`android` package). Oreo update for beta users only. Anyone can opt in.
App is already avail for kitkat, lollipop, marshmallow and nougat htc and samsung devices. Samsung from marshmallow on.
Search in google play for app as really cant be bothered to create a graphical thread
Note ... designed for STOCK roms without rom developers own individual tweaks as it clashes in cases. I hope this is a common sense statement.
Also a little treat for United Kingdom H3G users, tethering mod allows 3 not to detect if your hotspotting (Tethering). If you have unlimited data plan, see your hotspot allowance stay untouched

App will prob work when that happens as had minimal changes to do

Thank you so much.
Good module.
Can you please make transition animation random?
I'm trying to get this module to work on LG V30 (US998) with stock rom (7.1.2), bootloader unlocked, magisk root. Installs fine, but when I enable the power button flashlight I get System UI crash. Any ideas?
I really wish this was able to be used by my device. I have Xposed Framework and am rooted. However I tried three times to install and use this app , even doing what I was supposed to do by activating and rebooting my device. After all this, your app makes it so when the phone reboots my UI is black and phone is basically a brick without the actual bricking. I tried to use xposed module deactivator to deactivate your app to no avail. Luckily I was able to flash the Xposed uninstaller zip in order to reboot my phone with no black UI issue or disfunction. Unfortunately I also have to completely wipe Xposed cache and data and reinstall Xposed Framework in order to to continue using Xposed and the modules that are WORKING PROPERLY. I read the description of tour app on the google play store and it was supposed to be compatible with my devices ROM and everything the sun. But yeah, your app does more harm than the good it was suppose to do. I really hope that I am the only user out there who has had to give a bad review. I didn't give the review on the play store, what you are reading right now is the review. I am glad that your app can be used by others and it's been helpful for them as I read in the reviews.
Hello RichmondoUK,
Xtended Settings doesn't work with HTC one M9+ with ChinaSense 7.5.2... It was okay before wih standard Europe Ruu Sense 7.0, but I change to stock China rom because it is more secure and fast in any possible way...
I'm asking you here is it any way to fix this issue ? --The problem is that it's install but cannot open the app. Gives error message..
Any help ?
Cheers!

The opt-in link no longer works and upon the startup of the app it just asks for google login over and over, you'll chose which google account you want to use and it looks like it wants to let you onto the app, then it loops over and over

Sound Mods?? Sprint variant LG-LS998

Hello ladies and gentlemen of this forum. Firstly I'd like to say the availability of substratum has made this less painful I do not like being unrooted and locked out if my bootloader. I desperately Miss my V4A ARISE SOUND. After leading Verizon and going to Sprint because I can get four unlimited phones for the cost one or two at VZW. I had a Motorola Z2 and it was bootloader unlocked and I had Viper audio And root but I turned it into a paper weigh when trying to take oreo update. The whole A/B partition was very new to me so now I have this V30 plus.
Has anybody discovered a great sound mod or work around that is compatible with YouTube and Google play music?
I got an app called power amp and it works great for anything in my library it sounds amazing Poweramp is a great app with many features and great sound adjustment.
I'm looking for any kind of hack or non root modification or application that will allow me to have great sound quality all through the device.
Thank you for your help and support LG is new to me I was very big on the Nexus 6 and Nexus 6p forums. I feel a little handcuffed now.
Thank you for any direction or idea!!!
I know right, and it would be awesome if we could use convolvers (.irs profiles) outside of viper4android.
Yeah no kidding, I actually unzipped an ARISE FILE AND INSTALLED arkamys but I cannot tell if it makes too much of a difference the file below Works only for Google Play music but it's pretty awesome Dolby Digital I cleared my data for Google Play Music then installed this file then you reboot don't open the file whatever you do. After the reboot go into the menu of Google Play Music tap on equalizer and Dolby will pop up and it sounds really really good... MAKE SURE ALL FACTORY SOUND MODS ARE DISABLED.
If you like Google play music this works great man

I've tried it, and I have to say I feel like it's nothing special. I find the poweramp's 10 step equalizer much more useful and powerful. If it worked system wide it would be cool, but I'm not impressed right now.
Yeah Poweramp is a lot cooler I just thought I'd post anyhow. There's a lot of settings in Poweramp I found some that control gain and if you mess with it a bit and then close the app then open YouTube I was able to get it to control you tube... It's pretty sweet they give you a trial offer that long I'll end up buying it
Day 1 with this phone and no root. Ahhhhhhhh. Withdrawl. I removed the bloatware and got substratum working but I'm missing my magisk and viper4android bad. Not sure I can handle this. Did just read on another thread that a root exploit might be happening and this time people will want the sprint version. Imagine that. Hope it happens. Its a cool phone eithet way. But could be so much more. Like with Ressurection Remix!

Well, it's not that people WANT the Sprint version. Any version except T-mobile will do for this exploit. It's better if you already have a US998 or H930. It's just the Sprint version is dirt cheap on used market because no one else wants locked down Sprint phones. This method not only carrier unlocks the phone but also bootloader unlocks and roots them. If you absolutely need Sprint, then you can flash Sprint modems and firmware back if wish.
I picked up two mint V30+ for $325 and $350, and I already own an open market US998 V30+, but the price is too good and I will keep them as converted US998.
US998 firmware works fine on Sprint. Just need to flash modem from recovery using adb. You need to add the apns but that's about it. I did edit the build.prop because the notification drop-down was showing roaming indicator off. I changed ro.build.target_operator=NAO to ro.build.target_operator=USC so drop-down will show sprint. You CAN change to ro.build.target_operator=SPR (but it will lock your apns so edit what you need before changing to this) all is well even have the Sprint lte bands
I was using the Sprint stock rom but switched to US998 rom as there is no carrier bloat. They seem very similar anyways
Here is the proper apns for Sprint. The previous post forgot to include mms.

If you are on an aosp based rom it's not needed. I had no issues adding it to us998 firmware and ls998 firmware.
I don't have a tethering plan either but do have unlimited data

Energy Ring app - working for anyone?

Anyone get this to work on their Pixel 4a? I saw this thread, went to check it out on the play store. Installed it, tried to activate it but the app said my device isn't supported. Strange because it says right in the app description "supports Google Pixel4a"
Which exact one did you download...
It works perfectly fine for me
Yep works great for me
It didn't work for me either. At first, I thought it might have something to do with having changed the device fingerprint via MagiskHide Props Config to a Pixel 3a in order to pass SafetyNet. I set it back to a 4a and rebooted but it still didn't work. Perhaps there is something else that's interfering

you have to allow energy ring to get a inerne connection
without it won´t work at the first start
after the first start id dont need internet
Works for me, just using the Universal Edition out of the play store.
After a bit of searching I got rid of the battery percentage from the Settings and the normal battery icon by using the Activity Launcher app. So much cooler with just the ring.
The ring idea would have been great if Google had cooked it directly into Android, it's a lot cooler and turns the punch hole screen lens into more of a feature.
Anyone else with an issue on Android 12? It seems to render the top of the screen non-responsive in apps/home screen. Only place it doesn't seem to have this effect, is in Settings.

Yes, I experienced this issue on my Pixel 4a after the A12 install. Very odd. Had to uninstall Energy Ring to resolve it.
It works flawlessly for me even after all a12 updates to present.
I use Energy Ring - Universal Edition on my Pixel 4a running Stock Pixel A12 and it works perfectly
