my phone has been doing weird stuff lately like apps that i specificaly turned off will now turn on by themselves, my battery drains faster too, getting more calls from a "private number".
i updated my phone to the latest update and it runs android 9 pie.
all apps are up to date aswell. i check that often.
i scanned with malwarebytes but it found nothing suspicious.
bootloader is locked aswell. not rooted.
any ideas about what might be happening or how to fix this?

If you turn off an user-app it only gets stopped for the time you have Android actually running. When you restart Android then it's brought back to life again.

I have this phone for like 2 years now, those apps that i disabled have remained disabled for 2 years now even when i restart phone or shutdown and boot up again. now suddenly 3 of them enable themselves while i am not doing anything.
1: Youtube app
2: Google News app
3: Google Photo app.
These apps were disabled for at least 2 years. i have no clue how they can re-enabled themselves without me pushing the enable button.

no need, i am glad you tried to help. maybe it sounds a bit dull but it has been like this for a whole week now where i have to make sure i dont update these apps and disable them first before using google play to update all apps.
i changed launcher now to Evie launcher. maybe that work since these apps dont enable themselves for a full day now.
seems like its still going even after launcher change. its only those 3 apps that were disabled and now get enabled automatically.
Why not simply uninstall the apps in question?

those are system apps and i dont have root since the bootloader is locked. so i cant freeze/uninstal them.

You can disable them with adb commands. It effectively hides them. When done right the system no longer sees them as installed or running and they dont get updates from the play store anymore. Should sort out your problem with them re-enabling automatically. Not sure if you have done this already,but if not,give it a try.

Oke i have not tried it via adb, what i recently tried tho was unlocking my bootloader, but in adb my phone was only detected in normal usage mode where all the apps are, but in downloadmode it disapeared, even with the right driver installed.
So i have to run a few codes via adb when my phone is turned on with all the apps visible?

Yes,connect your phone powered up to your usb port of your laptop or p.c. and open adb command. Then run the command adb devices to make sure adb picks up your phone. If it does,you are good to go. Do you know how which command lines to run etc to uninstall apps in adb?

Bloatware is stored in Android OS partitions /system and/or /system-priv. Hence one needs ROOT privileges to remove it.

Yes,to remove the app and its files entirely root is needed. If you bothered to read the post,he is battling to keep the apps disabled. And by disabling them with adb the way i suggested,it should fix the problem for him.

seems like it worked so far, it also is able to disable apps that u cant disable in android while non rooted so now finally my built in launcher is totally disabled awell since i dont use it anymore. thanks for the answer.

I dont think you can with out root.
I've tried the temp root method to remove the apps in /system/app by moving it to my sd card.
after reboot, my root is gone but the apps are gone...for about a hour then they get reinstalled back.
I think it downloads from the web.
Yea, I think we have to wait for a custom rom to weed those out.
Just do stock + root. I got rid of 45% of all pre-installed apps.

If you can get the temp-root working, all you have to do is enter
"pm disable " + app names (not the apk name)in adb shell or in terminal emulator.
You can find out which apps are running by "ps" command or thrugh 'manage application in settings menu.
Alternatively, you can use Titanium Backup Pro to freeze apps.
"pm disable app" will stick even after reboots.

It shouldn't look any different. Rooting doesn't magically change anything. It's basically the same as getting administrator privileges on a computer. It gives you the ability to modify and delete system files.
If you want to remove bloatware, the easiest way is to download Root Manager from the Market and it will let you do just that. Just be careful because if you delete the wrong thing, you can cause problems.
Or the better option (and the one I did) was to install the QuickSense ROM by xboarder. It has the bloatware removed, and some other tweaks. I highly recommend it.
"pm disable" through ADB Shell
Didn't want to unlock my bootloader, so I did the following to disable the apps (didn't uninstall them, just puts them in remission so they don't show up in my App Drawer anymore or run in the background).
I kinda rushed these instructions out and probably left some stuff out since I'm used to doing this on my G2 & my other Android devices, so if you run into any problems, just PM me or post a response.
1. Install HTC Drivers on computer (used Windows 7 Professional machine, separate drivers if you're on a Mac): http://www.multiupload.com/AUF6125ZOY
2. Install ADB Shell (http://www.wiihacks.com/android-phones/52813-how-install-setup-adb.html). ADB Shell not necessarily needed, you could use the "Terminal Manager" on your Amaze after you temproot and run the "pm disable" commands there.
3. Use XBoarderMod's One-Click Root to gain Temporary root status (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310115)
4. Using ADB Shell on your windows box with your Amaze attached via USB with Debugging on, start executing the "pm disable <package name>" command to turn off these apps.
Here's a list of what I disabled (i kept the list minimal, just wanted to get rid of the annoying ones and the apps that kept on persisting in my "running services" tab)

If you're not using ADB Shell to disable your apps, here's a list of all packages on the Amaze since it's going to be next to impossible to get this from Terminal Manager. I tried taking out the apps that I installed myself, but some might still be on this list (sorry).
Also, be careful disabling some packages because some might cause problems...I made sure I researched each one to make sure they were safe to turn off.

No, it won't. Technically, your phone is still 'stock' after disabling apps on it.

Things are getting exiting now that we have a kernel dev working on our device! I can't find any more excuse for not rooting the Amaze.

yeah I thought as much. but the reason I was asking was because I rooted my sister's Samsung Fascinate and deleted a bunch of Verizon Bloatware and then when the Fascinate got Froyo, her update always failed. I tried a bunch of times and finally gave up and recently installed CM7 when it came out for the Fascinate. I'm guessing I deleted something I wasn't supposed to. But disabling apps shouldn't have the same effect as they're still technically going to be on the phone.

In your adb shell or terminal emulator,
just type:
pm list packages -e
to see what apps are still enabled.
and type:
pm list packages -d
to see what you've disabled.
That way, you'll see more than copy-and-pasting someone else's likes and dislikes.
It may be easier to use Titanium Backup. If you have a pro version, it let's you freeze and unfreeze apps right on the app list. Even with regular version, you can still see which apps are frozen, and let you unfreeze it on the list. (freeze=disable)
Hi - so I have not been here on the longest time, but now that I have the Amaze, I really need to get rid of some of these stock apps/bloatware. I am def a NOOB (all over again) and need some help please. I was trying to follow "the ducks" method of "pm disable" through ADB shell, but I cannot figure it out. I do not feel comfortable doing a permanent root. I'm using a Mac. I was able to find instructions on how to do the one-click root and Terminal on my Mac says "Macintosh-10:root4amaze Shimon$ ./adb shell sync" which I assume means I should be able to type in commands, right? I tried pm disable com.telenav.app.android.telenav like this
pm disable com.telenav.app.android.telenav
and like this
"pm disable <com.telenav.app.android.telenav"
and all sorts of variations, but I just get "-bash: pm: command not found".
What can I do? I really just want to get rid of some of these apps that use up battery. My only issue with this phone is battery use.
I'm tempted to try to install the quicksense ROM, but I've never installed a ROM and I just don't want to mess up my phone.

I already tried the reset and the battery performance improved. But the watch still works better with daily restarts.
Did you already do some tweaking?
Deleting some preinstalled apps? (resulting in better battery perhaps)

I am waiting on the latest update. Then going to make a prerooted system.img with SuperSU and file manager. So you guys can delete whatever you want. Battery life is good. Going to tweak the kernel and get little more out of are devices.

Open the app on the watch. Click on red root. That will update root..
There is nothing new on my watch.
At least when I swipe left on the watchface, in the list is nothing new.

Don't get rid of jawbone.. People are known to have problems.
Plus I will make a video later for you.
Same problem, KingRoot installs "KRhelper4PC" or (something like that) to my watch but there's nothing to open. ADB is definitely allowed on the watch, it asked for permission to connect to my computer and I set it to "always connect to this device". ADB shell lets me do some basic file exploring on the watch, but su doesn't work.
Are you guys on the latest update. I haven't updated my device yet to see if it works still.

Hello!
So to make it as short as possible, I'm using greenify on my NON-rooted Nexus6P (7.1.1), and to get more features, I gave greenify the necerssary permissions through ADB. Now.. Even though I gave the permissions the following is unavailable: Shallow Hibernation, Doze on the go and Wake-up cut off... UNLESS I switch into »root« working mode (as if my devices is rooted), then they are available. BUT the app keep telling me to enable root on my device (the features remains enabled though)? One more time, my device is NOT rooted. But will this still work? Since I HAVE given the permissions?
I hope someone can cast some light over this for me!

Did you run these adb commands? :

You should not select root mode if the phone is not rooted.
In non-root mode, what happens if you add apps to the hibernate list, one or more are running, and you press the Zzz button to hibernate the apps immediately? Do they successfully get hibernated?

From what I remember, doze on the go really just turns off the significant motion detector (SMD) so it won't get kicked out of doze.
The problem in 7.0+ is that this is locked behind the DUMP permission which can't be granted to 3rd party apps at all via ADB (must be system/signed as such). Most likely you are getting an error trying to grant this permission, so the functionality is not tre.
Alright.. I didn't get any errors, but I hear what you're saying, guess I have to get rooted at some point... Thanks for your reply though!

How to Set Up Greenify Without Root & Save Battery Life on Any Android
Despite newer phones having larger batteries, after a few months, my battery life drops significantly. I started researching solutions after my third phone. No matter who I asked, the most recommended solution was always Greenify. And unlike other solutions, you don't need root to use it.

I decided to go ahead and reset my LG sunrise as I want to do an experiment with multiple devices, but after doing this the keyboard refuses to show. It is installed, it shows as an option in settings, but it doesn't pop up when prompted

Try installing another keyboard and see if you can get one to show up.
Now, I know you can't type because of this but go to the play store and look in "top free" and there's bound to be one in there somewhere.

Perhaps grab an Apk of whatever keyboard you chose and side load it? Have you tried that at all?

Decided to search and I'm thinking I should install through ADB, but if I do that will it install as a system app? Is there a way I can replace the stock keyboard or repair it with this?

Connect the device to a PC if you have one and put the APK on the phone, Use a file explorer and install it. If the device doesn't have a file explorer, Then grab one of those too.
If you really wanted too you could use ADB, You'll need root access though to get it in as a System app.

Ah so, after I install the keyboard I can't go through setup?
Are you stuck in the setup menus? Is that what's happening??
If so then you'd probably have to remove the current keyboard and ADB push a new one.
Have you tried restoring it again to see if it shows after?

Yes, I'm stuck there. I tried using a USB keyboard with otG to no avail, so it seems I'll have to push a new keyboard. How would I remove the old one?

With ADB you can easily remove it, However though, If your not rooted, Then I advise against this because you WILL NOT be able to push it or another app back without root.
first i'm sorry if i'm on the wrong topic.
I installed an application to test (pirate) and I believe I caught some type of malware.
Even restoring the device it is slow.
My device is SM-J510MN, Android 7.1.1 without root.
Before installing Android he warned me that the App could track me. Any solution?

Did you tried factory reset? Most malwares disappears that way, but if it elevated privilege and installed itself as system, you're screwed.
First try to reboot in safe mode, and see if the app is still here.

It must have installed some others apps in the background or something in those lines, try safe mode and see if it's still slow.
Edit#1: You also might want to see which account were connected to this device, they might have been compromised, and you should change password ASAP just to be sure
IMHO an Android phone or tablet can be classified as slow, if it's taking longer than the usual time to open apps and if you can clearly notice a delay while switching between screens. In case of installed malware, then if the malware tries to perform somewhat intensive tasks on your phone or tablet, you may find that your device begins to slow down as it takes up processing power to do its job. This results in slower loading, apps hanging, and long boot times. It may also cause interruptions and other weird occurrences while making a phone call.
BTW:
One easily can check in real-time what apps/services are running ( plus their priority ) to find any bottlenecks by means of ADB, i.e. running
