Samsung galaxy tab s7 plus how to change screen resolution - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 Plus Questions & Answer

Does anyone know how to change the screen resolution on the tab s7 plus to make everything on my screen smaller.
Thank you

You can change it at Settings | Display | Screen zoom.

You can change font size but again thats not resolution. Your tablet is running highest resolution by default so you can't increase it

You don't understand resolution. Its not the same as zoom but zoom is what you want to lower.
you could go into developer options and change zoom manually if you wan't a more granular control.

Lol I am not the OP. I do understand screen resolution. I've got a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and a Galaxy Tab S7+.
On the Note, you can change resolution between QHD and HD+ and even 720 I think. On the tablet there are no such options.

That's there on the phone mostly to save battery life(personally never use it), on a small screen it might be an ok trade off. I don't think many people are dishing out 800+ on this tablet to run at 1080p, just to save 30 min of battery life. There are apps in the app store that will let you do this. BE VERY CAREFUL you can SOFT BRICK your tablet.

Edit: Did not read the full post before answering. The DPI setting is not a resolution change, you guys are right. Sorry... Will leave the answer below anyway as it might help someone.
----------
You can change the DPI (named "Minumim width") on the Developer Settings.
I know that on most phones you can go as high as 597 without triggering tablet mode.
On a tablet the sky (and the graphical performance and glithces) is the limit, but i've tested here on my Galaxy Tab S7 and could go so far as 1800 without big issues.

Thanks for this, but could you please clarify if this would work from the device itself without needing root?

I am rooted therefore I don't know...Anyway, "su" command is for calling root permission on linux so I think root is needed.

Yeah that's what I suspected because the su command didn't work when I tried it.
Thank you very much for your reply by the way.

No problem...actually, most of tweaks or upgrades needs rooted devices therefore some questions about non rooted devices are obsolete.
Therefore, when you see some cool feature or tweak, expect root permission.

How do you make the MW change stick/permanent? Every time I change the dpi it is different when I next check.

DPI into RES.

hello again this time i just wanted to know what dpi is equal too in resolution terms..
i want to know what 80dpi means in resolution so could someone answer me like
80dpi=1280x720 or 80dpi=XXXXxXXX can someone say what exactly is it??
The dpi gives you information about the relation between resolution and size of the screen.
So a huge screen (50") with just a 800*600 resolution has a really low DPI, and so the picture has quite a low quality as you could se every pixel. Modern phones have quite a huge resolution on a really small size. So some even have such a high DPI that you can't even see a single pixel just with your eyes which means a much better quality.
But you cant say ABC-DPI mean X-Y-resolution, its just a relation between size and relation.
oh ok well i manually changed my aces dpi to 80 and it says its resolution now is 960x640 so is that good or bad?? plus i got an 100% replica of the ics 4.0(its a theme) so im really lovin my ace now

[Q] Can screen be converted to 720p resolution? Saturation Options?

So I was reading some comments comparing the SGS II and Galaxy Nexus on a website and I read this comment.
18. remixfa posted on 29 min ago 0 0
basically everthing the SGS2 got dinged for was Gingerbread related, other than the screen. The screen isnt that big of a deal, they are both top of the line screens and its already been proven you can take the SGS2's screen and make it 720p.
What does this person mean? How can it be changed if the screen is 800x480?
Also, does anyone know how to get the saturation options from the international SGS II and Sprint SGS II to the AT&T SGS II? All the other saturation adjusting apps don't work right.

where did you read/find out that was possible? i strongly believe you cannot change the resolution, its hardware, not software. You can change the density, which will give you the illusion that the res is higher, but its not. and also, when you change the density, a lot of things on the phone won't be scaled correctly. if you can, please provide a link to find this info...

It has? Show us the proof then.
Note: Good luck finding this proof, as it's impossible to do this. Changing to 720 would require changing out the entire AMOLED panel. Also, remember the GNex uses a PenTile screen, so its subpixel density is about the same as ours.
Well because it was a comment on a article, I didn't feel it was necessary to include the link. I wanted to see if anyone heard of this as I thought that since it's a hardware issue, it can't be changed.
Do any of you have any idea about the saturation option I was talking about? Can that option be proted to the AT&T SGSII?

Found an app on the market. It's called: LCD Resolution (Root)
made by: wemobs Labs
You can't use 'software' to put more pixels into 'hardware'.
Technically speaking Lcd Resolution lowers the screen quality. Say it takes 100 pixels to display one letter of a word. Lcd resolution changes the display so that same letter is smaller and now made up of only 80 pixels. Not as smooth edges.
I love the app. I have it running right now. Seems 192 is ideal for me. Makes my screen feel like it's as large as it really is. More screen, not just bigger icons.

All that does is change icon and text sizes by fooling apps into thinking your screen is higher or lower density than it really is.

Resolution and home size required

Hi,
I belong to the luckies how get an access code and i'm very impressed by the themes quality.
I besides have some troubles with all the themes installed, almost none of them fit my screen size. Do you know what is the requered resolution and sreen size (row/columns) required for themes?
thanks in advance,
What devices are supported?
We currently support all Android 4.1 or above devices with the following resolutions:
1920x1080
1776x1080
1280x720
1184x768 (Nexus 4 with soft keys turned on)
1184x720
960x540
888x540
800x480
The major devices we DO NOT support currently are the Galaxy Note 1, LG Optimus G, Xperia J, and Huawei Ascend Mate. We hope to support these in the future. We DO NOT currently support any tablets.

So I made the mistake of installing this on my Optimus G without reading about supported resolutions first. I have also an Oppo find5 I would very much like to use this with
However. My code was already entered on the OG. How can I get my code from the app? I've tried submitting my email and it says I'll get an email about my code shortly but I haven't yet. Just curious what to do next. . .

Root first, then use something like Titanium to freeze the What's New app.
Some system apps are allowed to be disabled in System > Apps > All. What's New is not disable-able.
Is it possible to unroot it right after amd keep the what's new disabled? I've rooted my gs4 before and since I'm not an expert, I had issues. So now I'm just afraid of rooting again.

ahura999: I would NOT do that at present.
Reason: For getting root, you need to unlock the bootloader; no big deal, Sony even supports you doing so.
But while unlocking the bootloader, you'll permanently lose all DRM keys and "X-Reality".
Too much trouble regarding the purpose if you'd ask me...
Don't get me wrong: Root is always a good idea, for me it's a MUST.
But maybe you better wait till a rooting method comes up which won't kill your keys.

So much hassle. I partially understood what you said. But when it comes to movies and things, how well is this screen. (I'm still trying to figure which to buy, z2 or galaxy tab pro 8.4.) my ideal tab would be the 8.4 but it doesn't come with 32gb. But it has a beautiful screen which I prefer. Even the size is perfect for me.

Display quality is excellent, high contrasts, deep blacks, no stuck pixels, almost no light bleeding, FAR better than the Samsung screens I saw the last months (e. g. Note 10.1 2014).
BUT (nothing without a big but): Tearing problems while scrolling (gets corrected with firmware 2.55), slightly worse display quality of text elements if holding the Z2 in portrait orientation.
The lower resolution compared with other tablets of today is no dealbreaker; you WILL notice that gear like the Note 10.1 2014 displays text a tiny bit better - you'll notice that if you've got the chance to do a side-by-side comparison. Seems to be a bad antialiasing algorithm utilized with the Z2.
Regarding videos: Movies look slightly better on the Z2, thanks to the better contrast ratio, the deeper black and the "X-Reality" feature. Yes, it really works. Not with every video, but in most cases this feature performs just fine.

No, it isn't.
It's just that the Note 10.1 has a higher resolution, period.
Aside from that: Do you also have a job or other hobbies? Seems you use all your time to write long reviews and forum postings about the Tablet Z2... comes across as a bit manic...
Hasenbein: Any reason for you obviously trying to insult me ?
If you're really interested in my profession (you've seen my works on TV), I'll happily answer your questions if you send me a private mail.
Regarding the antialiasing issue: Youl'll notice the feature working better in landscape mode. This suggests the algorithms needing further optimization. I am pretty aware of the resolution differences of Z2 and Note 10.1 2014 as I own both devices.
No. The portrait vs. landscape "issue" is a property of the screen.
The portrait mode has optimum sharpness only in one direction!
That is: If you are in landscape, you can turn the tablet LEFT or RIGHT to go into portrait mode.
With my tablet, the optimum sharpness is when I turn it so that the power button is pointing up. On my tablet Z it was when I was turning the power button down (which wasn't optimal). Could be that the "right" direction is even different on every individual device...
This is with any LCD screen (try to turn your desktop monitor into portrait mode, then you'll see ); on the tablets with even higher resolution, it's only less visible (or even not visible at all for normal people).
I know.
But I didn't refer to sharpness overall, I noticed slightly worse antialising if viewing text contents in portrait mode: No visible "edges" in landscape orientation, but slightly visible edges in portrait mode. Strangely enough, this effect does not always occur; sometimes it's there, sometimes not.
That makes me believe there's some optimization potential.

Yes, it's possible, but I don't see how root would cause you issues unless you either had security issues with misbehaving apps or went wrong somewhere in the process of rooting, in which case it isn't the fault of being rooted.
Currently though, the only root method for the Z2 Tablet requires unlocking your bootloader and flashing a custom kernel. This may or may not incur irreversible undesired changes to your system depending on your approach.

Screen Crispness....?

Anyone notice that the resolution shows 2k on this device but the icons and pictures and other things dont look as crisp as they should? They look sort of blown out.

icons are probably incorrect resolution, 2k screen isn't that popular. Also you might have smart resolution on, (i never notice it and therefore doubt it does anything at all)

technically, the IPS screen would be better, as it has RGB layout instead of pentile.
But the resolution on both is high enough you probably can't tell the difference anyway.
I think its strange youtube will never give an option of more than 1080p

I boost mine to 915 (I think!), though I have to bump up the font size if I do that. Having come from a Tab S, that seems closer to a similar use of screen real estate (e.g. in YouTube, it shows 5 videos per row on the home page). Unfortunately, it means the other settings can no longer be accessed, so I need to reboot if I want to change anything
I'm surprised that more people aren't complaining about this. I think Huawei have simply taken the interface from the 8.4 version without any changes, so things are just bigger all round but you get no advantage to choosing the 10.8 version

Someone had posted just last week that the M5 feels like a large phone and not a tablet, likely due to it not identifying itself as a tablet. This causes annoyance with some apps as they draw as if they are on a phone, which when stretched to a tablet screen not not good. Instead of making use of the extra screen space and resolution, things just becomes hard to use.

I have mine set to 1250 dpi and I love it. So much real-estate, looks clean, higher quality and since its on the Resurrection Remix Rom, the dpi stays at that custom number even after reboot. Some things are hard to tap at times but I use GMD gestures and control the tablet with gestures and tasker

The Resurrection Remix Rom makes things easy to set a better resolution that works well for the bigger screen real-estate ☺
