Sharing a call recorder that worked for me on Android 10, Lg G8x - LG G8X ThinQ Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi guys,
I've been struggling for quite a while to find a working call recorder for Android 10 Lg G8x and I finally found one that works without you having to click your heels 3 times and do 7 summersaults... Just thought i would share it with the community:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fragileheart.callrecorder
All you need to do is change the audio source to Voice calls, and it records normal calls speaker calls and bluetooth

Wow... You made my day. I've been testing several Call Recorders with no success because I need recording for my work. If this works in a decent way you will have solve one of the problems I had with G8x.

We should share what we find. Here are a few apps that I consider must have for G8X:
Wide mode for LG https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.refy.android.g8x.widemode
Launch 2 apps, one on each screen: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.graymatterapps.duallaunchforlg or https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.splitscreenlauncher
Overlay apps that really help if you are in Wide mode and can't reach:
- This one is the most used app on my phone, awesome assistive touch with very complex gesture controls if you want to go there. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ksxkq.floating . I use it with long press to move, press - menu, left - back, down - home, right - task manager, up - notifications, swipe up + hold - slide volume, swipe down + hold - slide brightness.
- Meteor Swipe https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.glovebox . This one is a side-bar, and has a nice open in window mode directly.
- Floating bar V40: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tools.lgv30.floatingbar . Much better than the built in functionality, and the only media controller if found that works with any media (Netflix, Youtube, etc)
- Bubble notification, best i've found : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onedollar.bubblenotificationq
List My Apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.onyxbits.listmyapps
Launchers:
- Square home https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.squarehome2
- Microsoft home https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.launcher
-> Both have landscape support, and are leaps and bounds over Apex or Nova, the blank slates that everyone uses for launchers.

@dumitrudan608 thanks man works like a dream. This was one of the reasons i was going to make an effort to root my Euro device.
Guess i dont have to now, wich is fine by me.

Leave feedback for the dev, he put in the work.
Do you have any tips/tricks you would like to share about your G8X?
I see people are not really sharing, and that is sad, because that is one of the reasons Samsung devices are in such high regards, because the XDA community is very verbal about them, even though LG practically gives you the tools to root their devices, whereas Samsung tries their best to not do so.

The call recorder doesn't work when the dual screen accessory is attached and closed, but it does work when you flip it back and answer the call. Can others verify ?

i too am facing the call recording issue... this app works sometimes, most of the times it doesnt record anything, cant determine when it works well
hope LG bring native call recording to LG G8X, i think its just matter of enabling it in GUI. is there a way to submit feature request to LG?

"Works very rarely" is not really a unit of measure, you need to be more precise when offering feedback like when this happens, and its better if you offer it to the devs.
I can confirm that with the initial settings, recording through Bluetooth headsets does not work, the resulting fine is just empty, and i remember it did, maybe something was updated or the LDAC options might affect it. Direct calls do record fine, and it's the only app that allows contact recognition that I found at least.
If you guys find a better app, please let us know.

is there Screen Locker for LG G8X, Normal App Locker does not work in Secondary Screen

Currently, the only app with call recording and caller recognition is https://cubeacr.app/ Use direct download, not from the play store, as google does not allow to recognize caller and record calls. The source for the call is "voice recognition software" It looks like it is a mic but in a different mode. Quality is not the best. For me, there is no reason to buy it. Disable automatic update for this app or it will be overwritten by google version.

The play store version now has an addin that you can install, and gives you full functionality. If the volume for the other person is very low (this was the case for me) disable "Force in-communication mod"

Kindly share apk file as the suggested app is not available on play store in my region (India)

I ended up using the skvalex call recorder from Magisk, but you need a rooted phone for that to work. It's also a paid app (with 30 days of trial) and not a cheap one either, but it works flawlessly.

In Call Recording possible?

Is in-call recording of both sides of the conversation possible on the X10? Are both sides voices recorded clearly and there is no need to use the speaker in order to record both sides?
Check out v Recorder in the android store. I think that might be what your looking for.
Sent from my X10i using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I wasn't looking for a suggestion, thanks though. I am actually more interested in a confirmed report by a X10 owner/user that this is actually possible on the X10 before I buy the phone (I am on X1 at the moment and call recording isn't possible on X1).
I'm afraid that the incall recording uses the speaker to record the other persons voice.
Call Recorder has positive comments for perfect working.
it costs 0.99 pounds.
does (only) work with android 1.x .
Are you sure that the opinions expressed here"http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-opensystem-callrecord-jjDw.aspx"
are positive??
not completely positive ..
the german market gives me a 5* rating for it .. sorry ..
hope we'll find a workaround for it, i'd really like to have a recording option.

I am using the excellent cooked Energy Rom by NRGZ28 which is also based on the Touch HD and has the in-call recorder included, but it doesn't work on X1. As I said - I am following all the threads regarding this issue and no-one seems to have found a way to make in-call recording work on X1, but if you know for a fact that this is doable please post a URL of a thread that explains how it's done.

try this
Once you have dialed a call, press the notes icon (post-it note with tack through it). This will open up the notes application. From there choose Menu->View Recording Toolbar. The toolbar will open up on the bottom of the screen and will allow you record both sides of the conversations while writing or typing

That's exactly what I meant when I wrote that clear and proper 2-way recording is not possible on the X1.
If you tried your suggestion you will see that you can record your own voice very loud and clear, but can barely hear the other side, which is actually recorded from the ear speaker and not straight from the phone.
I have a SE K750i which, for example, which record both sides of the conversation at the same high volume, perfectly. That's what I am talking about...

I've downloaded the "Full" app and will try it and post feed back.

Hi,
I have an X10 and downloaded "Total Recall Trial". You had to restart the phone, but after that it record the call like a charm, BOTH WAYS!!!
No "beep" at all. Some recorders have "beeps" every minute.
Will defenitley buy this app as soon as I can. Live in Sweden, so paying for apps is not yet available through Market! :-(
To listen to the calls after I use an app named "aPlayer".

[Q] Call recording?

Hi,
Has anyone tested whether call recording works? In case you didn't know, there IS an API for recording calls, however it silently fails on most phones. Apparently on some it does work:

I have installed total recall on my galaxy s2 and it works but I can perfectly record with loud voice the opponent but i don't hear my voice.. very strange, it is the opposite of Galaxy s..
I have tryed also Call recorder widget but it doesn't record anything.
Some other experince?
Just wanting to keep this alive. Total Recall records the remote voice great but not the local (phone mic) voice.
I did see on another thread with the S1 replacing some system files, from a Taiwan ROM? Is this not possible with the S2?
Thanks for anyone attempting to fix this. Otherwise, I'm happily surprised by this phone everytime I look at it
There is another thread on this already.
'callrecorder' from the market (green android icon) records both sides properly.
It doesn't use the speaker phone to record so it s great quality

Another +1 for Callrecorder By Dsoft. Installed it and works great.

Yessss callrecorder works good so it means with galaxy2 you call record perfectly both direction, but it is too simple as software missing of many settings... Is there some more complete call recorder for our galaxy s2?

Hi.
Just today I founded this app: VoiceRecorder and works perfectly for my SGSII.
Different from Calrecorder is that this app don't show any icon when ready for recording
and also is for free
DarkyRom2 XXKI3 Base ( 2.3.5 ) comes with an in-built call recorder which works very smooth , you can hear both sides very clear and it has a button in the call screen so it's very easy to use ..
it works!
one more app that works!

so which is the best? any of them work on bluetooth?
also WHERE is the callrecorder by dsoft I can not find it in the market. anyone have a link or an apk if no longer on the market?
found the dsoft one via google search.
odd he has 3 that all appear the same 2 free 1 $3 but support appears lacking and apparently it has issues with file corruption you won't know about till you find a file it did not record.
consensus on which is the best/most reliable. I don't mind a pay app especially if the quality and transparent (record all calls to sd) automation is good.

As far as I know call recording will not now nor will it ever work over bt. The drivers don't support it
Hmm it must not be accessing the hardware directly like it does on the touch pro2 - since on that unit it records no matter what I use to make the call speaker handset or bluetooth.
Pity
Is this a hardware limitation or a software limitation?

I think both. They tend to remove it as it is illegal in many areas unless you tell them it is being done before they say anything. I used to use it myself till a buddy of mine found the recording while we were looking over my phone files to troubleshoot an issue and as a lawyer he adviced that I stop using it right away or I could be sued lol

In theory, no phone has that. It's kind of a privacy thing. On an IPhone, it's not possible without doing God knows what. On Android, I'm sure there is an app for that, but by default it's not possible.
Just go to the Play store and search for it ? Googling for Android call recording came up with 3 high rated apps already, so you should be fine
Edit : just saw on S123 ROW that there is a button on the ongoing call screen to indeed record the call

Automatic callrecording on Pie?

I've been using a variety of automatic call recorders for years and recording calls have been indispensable for me.
I make and receive quite a lot of calls related to my job and I tend to forget details all the time, and so it's been great to just listen to the conversation again.
The quality of the recordings haven't been great, especially the voice of the other person but it has done the trick anyway.
I recently bought a Pocophone F1 and was pleasantly surprised that MIUI actually has a setting for turning on the native call recorder automatically so I wouldn't have to get an app to do it, but even better, the quality was *great*. Way better than any of the apps I've tried with any of the settings.
But today I flashed Lineage OS 16 because MIUI was bugging me for a bunch of reasons, but Lineage doesn't have such an option.
But not only that, no of the third party recorder apps I try work at all. I've now read that google has made it impossible for apps to record calls in Pie.
I can manually press the record button in the dialer app and that works fine, but the problem is that I have to manually activate it for each call and I know I'm not going to remember to do that, plus I don't even always have the possibility like when I'm driving or working with my hands and I answer using my headset.
Is there any way of making the native recorder activate automatically in Lineage OS like in MIUI or is there any other alternative?
Do I need to flash another rom if i need this?
Thanks in advance!

Call recording without rooting?

Call recording is important to me. In the past I've always rooted my phones and used @skvalex's app which is amazing.
For the first time, I'm considering not rooting because I want Google Pay and system updates to work smoothly. I know there are workarounds but they seem like a lot of trouble.
Has anyone found a good solution to record calls on the pixel without root?
I have the US version, unlocked.
Thanks!
Try this
OnePlus Call Recorder - Apps on Google Play
OnePlus Call Recorder lets you record Whatsapp, Skype, Zoom and Telegram calls.
play.google.com
Hi ameer, unfortunately that app doesn't record the internal uplink+downlink. Rather it records from the devices's mic. Several apps do this such as Call Recorder by @skvalex (the best). But they can't record bluetooth conversations.

It doesn't help without root. If you select uplink / downlink in the settings without root, the calls will not be recorded.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Up until this phone, I used JOnePlus Tools app to enable stock call recording in my previous phones, the 7 pro, 6t and 5t, unrooted. I have installed it and done so with my n10 5g but i dont see it working like it had in the past. I dont know if maybe its the dialer, or if the nord maybe didnt come with the ability to record calls like the phones before it. Either way, without root it seems your options might be limited.

This is because the Nord series comes with the Google dialer instead of the OnePlus dialer.
In Oxygen OS 11 it is reportedly possible to installthe oneplus dialer and enable recording. The Nord has an OOS update but the Nord n10 5G does not.
I have bought Nord n10 5G today for my wife, but I realized now that call recording is not allowed on this. Do you have any methods to make it possible?
I have tried the OCR mentioned above and it works well on Nord n10 5G even though file name doesn't have contact name. But voice is well recorded clearly.
Looks to me like that OCR is the same as the other noon root solutions that record from the speakers rather than the phone line.
This means it will not work for calls via Bluetooth.
It's not much different than just using the built in screen recorder and extracting the audio.
