Nexus 5 Wireless is not showing nearby WiFi after Installing NetHunter - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I have installed a Nexus 5 device with a custom rom on Android 6.0.1 (of course on this year - 2020, nexus would not auto update from 4.4.3). With this, I installed NetHunter and had the TWRP installed on this.
My Wireless adapter inbuilt the phone was working great on the Android 4.4.3 and then after I Unlock the device and then even after I updated to Android 6.0.1 which was great. With all this, I updated my device to android + NetHunter (Kali version 6.0.1) which was then I was able to see the WiFi is on and can connect to my home network. Then I did the mistake.
I root the device with the Magisk. This although the recommended root by the Kali People, did took down my wireless adapter. Did many things and searched the whole internet. No one knew what caused and many given pointers to clear cache etc. Nothing worked. Then what I did was the below.
1. Re Flash the 6.0.1 - this would not destroy the Kali version as this is the back end of the Kali NetHunter. It will bring back the WiFi with device being un-rooted.
2. Root the device with #SuperSu - This will allocate the suffice permissions to NetHunter and keep your WiFi intact.
So here goes everyone, this brings you to the end of this short article and hope this helps to those people whom taking my pathway. Happy Hunting.:good::good:

Attempting to Root a Nexus 6

My Nexus 6 has presented me with an interesting challenge. During my attempts/process to root my phone, inevitably, one must reboot your phone. And as the reboot takes place the phone always goes into the "Charge" mode and not the "File Transfer" mode that the phone was in as it began the root process. I'm at a cross in the road because I cannot complete the root process. The only option that has presented itself to me is to restart the phone. And while my phone works properly, it halts the root process. I have just purchased another USB cable that charges and transfers data/syncs to cover that question. Any hints would be appreciated. I have had this phone unlocked using Chainfire's Nexus Root Toolkit a while back. It worked flawlessly. I've not really been interested in a custom ROM/Kernel etc. but in continuing to research this area. I'd like to try and unlock then root the phone again. Any hints would be appreciated
If your phone got the January update from Google, they patched a ton of the "exploits" that previously were/can be used to root Android devices. These were pushed out to the Nexus line by Google and made available for OTA by wireless vendors otherwise. This could be the issue you're running into now. If you haven't updated, then I think you just may need to find an alternative rooting method, as the one you tried may not be 100% compatible or is missing some sort of command to direct the device to go into file transfer/download mode.

I really appreciate your perspective. And without a doubt I'll look around and see where this goes. Just reading about all the work that has taken place since I purchased the phone, the landscape is a lot more enticing.

WaveMatter CARBON 9 Plus Android Box

Hello:
I have android WaveMatter CARBON 9 Plus box. The new software's out there are not supported and needs Android 5.0 or later. I cannot see any firmware updates for the product across the net so I cannot update.
My Question, is there a generic android update available in cases like these or the box is useless now and should go for a new box?
Thank you.
Hi:
I have Carbon 8 and I bricked it. I tried rk3288_box-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY48W eng.hotack.20151116.172824 test-keys from chinagadgetsreviews or from here
https://mega.nz/#!XUgSTYLJ!S1YwNJwXOCuvCRiiKY_8dJH__5pEpq49tFGgeLNmnEw
It worked perfectly except I can't root it. I will also upload the Carbon 8 firmware. I used RKBatch 1.7 with Drivers 4.3.
Install the drivers on PC, Run RKBatch 1.7 , Load the img file, disconnect power adapter, connect the USB to OTG port , then turn on the device. Let it start. After it start, press and hold the little pin hole , keep pressing on it till RKBatch 1.7 show the green square. If you press on it while power is off the green light might come. Then just click restore. Done. Usually when the power is OFF you will see a red light on Carbon 8.
I have two firmware versions that work on Carbon 8. But I need to root them so I can use soft reboot app from google play. I tried Kingroot, Ex root for RK3288 but no luck. I think they are both the same 8 and 9. Try at your own risk. I flashed Carbon 8 with many firm-wares, some worked till the Google ask to agree on location then freezes. I didn't use RK1.39 , you can try it, but RK 1.7 worked 100%. Waiting for a root solution. CR12 cloudnetgo is very compatible with Wavematter Carbons. There also 4.4.2 versions that might work, as I said I tried the 5.1.1 ans it worked perfectly with two launchers, I use the default launcher.
I use Youtube TV apk version 1.2.7 , the 1.3.8 and 1.3.11 don't work fine on live streams from youtube, (you need to disable original youtube).
Wifi and remote worked 100%.. All img come with kodi. Carbon 8 is perfect device for HD videos even though it is Quad.
:
(If someone can root these images please do so and upload them so others can use them, my carbon 8 was 4.4.2 and was rooted at the time of purchase, two years ago, , but suddenly I lost the root due to faulty app, so I did the search and I am writing this to help others)
Here are some more links for img files and tools & these are for Carbon 8) No root till someone help to root it:

[HELP][G3][VS985]issue connecting to PC on fastboot, need to reflash TWRP & SuperSU

[HELP][G3][VS985]issue connecting to PC on fastboot, need to reflash TWRP & SuperSU
Hello, thank you for this great forum with helpful members, I'm having an issue with an LG G3 VS985, fastboot won't recognize it while in bootloader, I need to reflash TWRP.
First of all, thank you for reading this long testament [most important details in bold if TL;TR], wanted to be as detailed as possible, maybe it will help you help me better hehe sorry about that.
Let me give you the event sequence if it helps.
> Phone had Cloudy G3 2.5 rooted with SuperSU and TWRP 2.8.6.0 since I rooted it back in 2016.
I was having some issues with phone not recognizing micro sd card and OTG-USB after messing around with encrypting it, I was curious but didn't need it, anyways. Although I dropped the phone in water a couple weeks prior so there is a chance the issue is hardware related.
That was like 4-5 months ago.
Finally decided to do a file backup and reinstall everything yesterday apr-5-2019.
> Rebooted into TWRP and erased everything (data, cache, dalvik, system, even internal storage) because I wanted a new install on everything.
> Flashed the latest official TWRP version for my device (3.0.2.0)
> Had a lot of issues flashing crDroid, found out I downloaded the wrong build, although I had to edit updater-script on the right one to make it work.
> Flashed crDroid 5.2_20190326 with open GApps for Android 9.0 Stock
> First issue encountered, I couldn't charge the phone turned off, because the battery logo appears but but doesn't do the animation and reboots the phone, I read it might be an issue with TWRP.
> Tried to flash SuperSU 2.82 SR5 with TWRP but had a LG secure boot error and couldn't boot up android.
> RE-flashing android and open GApps fixed this issue.
> Re-attempted the process several times, even wiping everything down more than a couple times, including re-flashing android several times to no avail, I was not able to flash SuperSU successfully.
I even flashed an old tool "MR.Bump" but system kept unrooted so unsuccessful.
> Reflashed Android for the last time and start reading again (after 8 hours attempting to do it well), I read that TWRP version might be the problem to flash SuperSU, so
HERE is where I have the current issue:
> Downloaded the official TWRP version 3.1.0 and flashed it.
There is no official support for 3.1.0 for the VS985 so I'm guessing it was a generic .img, of course I messed up TWRP.
> Downloaded and installed official LGMobile Drivers 4.2.0 (latest), downloaded android drivers (15 second ADB installer 1.4.3) and Android platform tools 28.0.2 on windows.
> When conected in PTP and transfer files in win7 it recognizes all the drivers well, was able to reboot the phone into bootloader from android platform tools successfully, means there is good communication between the device and PC.
The issue is once the phone is in the bootloader and trying to flash TWRP, win7 has issues installing CDC serial drivers, in the end in device manager all drivers seems installed but win notification center says there was a problem installing LGE AndroidNet for VZW USB Modem, seems to be issues with CDC Serial or something, when trying to access the properties on the VZW USB Modem it freezes so there's an issue here.
That means when doing adb devices or fastboot devices command, doesn't find anything.
Tried the same in win10, had different driver problems but in the end everything gets installed after rebooting. Same issue, no response from phone when in bootloader.
Message is "Waiting for any device".
Maybe there is an issue with some low-level driver/kernel/firmware that is creating this issue, I would even consider to flash stock LG Android to start from scratch, if you have any guide on how to do it please provide the links!
Additional note: When connecting the phone in USB Tethering win7 gives bluescreen.
> FORTUNATELY I messed TWRP but the phone can still boot android so it's not rendered unusable (yet lol).
I must admit I wasn't super careful downloading some stuff, I did it old school (trial and error) and most of the times it works, I consider myself being a little tech savvy, but right now I'm stuck, I guess I could continue using the phone like this but if I have any issues it would be difficult to resolve and I would lose functionality without root (I could live unrooted though but I wanna resolve this) and honestly I love the G3 so why change it? haha.
BTW I found these on the net, do you recommend it? what TWRP do you recommend for the VS985?
I downloaded and wanted to install this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/recovery-unofficial-multirom-twrp-artx-t3657524
and found this one supposedly 3.2.1 for the vs985 here: https://basketbuild.com/devs/yshalsager/TwrpBuilder/lge/vs985
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

T95 MAX - AEROMEDIA NANOMAX (T95 MAX Clone) ALLWINNER H6 CHIPSET EXCELLENT REPLACEMENT CUSTOM FIRMWARE BY [email protected]/FREAKTAB ANDROID 7.1.2 NOUGAT
When flashing your box with firmware there is always risks and these risks are to be understood solely by the user. Please understand that neither I or anyone at xda can be held liable for what you decide to do to your box.
I have seen many struggle to get a replacement firmware for the T95Max/ Nanomax box from Justopuk.
I am posting this for anyone who wants it and will link to instructions on how to replace the horrible stock firmware on the above boxes..
what's in it? This rom has been tweaked for better performance, much better kernel tuning and thermals, comes with magisk 19 which can be updated. Nova Launcher which can also be updated.
wht doesn't work? some lose ability of stock remote, this can be replaced via airmouse/keyboard and there is built in "advanced power menu! Quick reboot app to power off/on boot to recovery etc
T95MAX_SCV2.img Rom here :
https://mega.nz/file/iIsymLoD#UjQ6kp4UoTQus4XaUgujrsKX7Wd0tIT5KKZN9q0uk1g
Unofficial TWRP : This needs to be placed on USB and once you have flashed the rom, boot into recovery, apply update from external. This will USB boot to TWRP and let you back/up restore either from ext/int sdcard.

T95max Instructions for flashing :
Download and extract from the archive Phoenix USB Pro 4.0
Download and Install USB_android driver
Install the driver by specifying the path via device driver in Windows (you may need to disable the driver's digital signature verification )
Restart the PC (although the driver is signed and everything went well without it).
Launch PHOENIX USB PRO , select THE T95MAX_SCV2. IMG File.
We will need a USB-A to USB-A cable
Then connect the cable to the PC,
Take a toothpick or something like that and insert it into the jack 3.5 (sound output) and press the button hidden there.
Connect the USB-USB cable to the set-top box to the USB 2.0 connector in the centre (T95Max)
Keep the button pressed, Until you see a green tick on screen (phoenix usb Pro gui)
You will see the progress as Phoenix begins preparation of the Flash
after the computer has identified the set-top box, release the button and connect the power cable.
Wait until it displays end/finish firmware then Unplug USB to USB and plug the dc power back in for first boot.
Enjoy

@Bertonumber1, saw your question on freaktab and just wanted to say to the best of my knowledge you can't make TWRP the permanent recovery. you've gotta load it up each time you wanna use it on other boxes too.

Yeah mate, needs to be booted rom the USB. I figured that a while ago after messing aournd with this box and another couple I had. But thanks anyway for letting me know. :good: cheers
if I get another box in the future I'll make sure it's a pre android 10 AMLogic chipset box. that forum is buzzing with roms and mods.

Yeah, this box I have is okay, It works better on nougat than it did on pie, I'm happy with it.
I lost the stock remote but always use the rii keyboard / airmouse anyway and use advanced reboot app to turn off so its not too much of a loss.
I prefer Allwinner devices to Amlogic and have tried allsorts of different devices and roms.
IMO after all the modding and tweaking over the years. I think it's best just to update your stock rom to the latest security patch etc, root, debloat and get a custom launcher.
Unless your running a stable rom, the bugs and problems just ain't worth the hassle.
@deano2011 here's example of active cooling, it don't need to be perfect m8 just make sure it's sealed so the air flows to the board :good:
Aeromedia (Justopuk) Nanomax (T95max Clone) - Shipped with Android 9 stock Unrooted.
Flashed with [email protected] build T95Max_SCV2.IMG via Phoenix USB Pro 4.0 (windows 10)
Rooted Android 7, WiFi Bt chromecast all working,
Stock remote don't work but Airmouse does.
Strip all unnecessary apps, replace webview with bromite and Adaway.
Result : heats up a little under heavy usage but fan takes care of that, expect 32 degrees when active cooling (raspberry pi 4b case fan) is activated.

many thanks Berton' i will most likely give it a shot bud' at least the cpu/gpu won't be throttled under load with active cooling as the allwinner H6 chipset does get rather hot anyways with the manufacturer process of the chip being 28nm vs S905X2/X3 12nm process :good:

I agree with you about stability (and with phones, optimisation) being better on stock roms but I want a recents menu and notification bar. I don't think these fly by night brands put in the effort to create a good product.

Definitely, I think these roms have just been thrown together to get ppl up and running quickly with regard to movies etc, you're right, no thought has been put into settings menu, I noticed the only way you can access developer menu is to search for a setting lol.
But hats off to the guy beny he did make good progress on what was already a shockingly bad Chinese stock firmware
hello, can you help me. I can't flash image files on Phoenix USB 4.0 and can't figure out why.
mmh any recommended Android 9 image with root? Kidn regards
Hi, this firmware, is a normal android firmware, not an android TV, is this?

Install rooted AOSP

[original comment with links to ROMs is there: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/root-possibility.4130739/post-83915657]
Hello
This is way to install AOSP rom with root (not Magisk, Superuser). All thanks to Wer99, he found this method
You need:
ROM:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mdavroo9edpwveg/AP_AOSP_Android_10_A21s.tar/file > AOSP Android 10 ( only bug i found is not working auto-brightness [which is normal for GSI without overlay, but there is not working light sensor probably, i dont see values in CPU-Z or AIDA64 either])
http://www.mediafire.com/file/r6m7s99hs9d031e/AOSP_super.tar/file > AOSP Android 10
https://www.mediafire.com/file/wjhwnh3pags62fa/super.tar/file > HavocOS Android 10 (i use this rom on my daily phone, bug is the same as on AOSP)
Others:
Odin, you can found it on XDA
Samsung Mobile USB Drivers, or other drivers for Samsung Download Mode
Installation is easy.
Unlock your bootloader [it trips Knox and voids warranty!]
Power-off your phone, boot it in Download Mode with pushing volume down and up, and connect USB cable to PC simultaneously.
In Odin, push file with ROM to AP section, and click flash. Done!
After reboot, do factory reset of phone.
After installation, enable support of all cameras in phh-treble settings.
Didn't work for me, I tried with the AOSP_super.tar, which succeeded, but got a boot loop.
I tried with the AP_AOSP_.., but it fails, I got "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed (SUPER)". The same occurs with Havoc tar.
When I tried the AOSP_super.tar again, I got the same message, instead of a boot loop.
Steps:
Unlock bootloader (OEM unlock is also permanently triggered in developer settings)
Power off phone
Download mode (volume up + power on) and connect USB
Load tar file in AP slot (other slots are empty)
Factory reset and clear cache
Flashing back the stock rom still works. Stock rom: A217FXXU5BUB4
Any ideas?

Yeah I think I know why, There's a filesystem problem, the UUID and filesystem has to be the same as the system.img of OneUI
The UUID depends in the device binary that you have (in the firmware)
I'd help you but, all my steps just led to a dead end sadly
