Is it possible to install a gsi without custom recovery. - Samsung Galaxy A10 Questions & Answers

I have a10s with no custom recovery but a rooted kernel. Would it be possible to flash gsi via download mode?

I did it once on my device. Check out this thread

I have a problem with this. I tried ErfanGSI Rom, his Roms require the user to flash a kernel permissive patcher which can only be done through a custom recovery. End result is, I can't get it to boot, it goes into boot loop. Any way past that?

Yes. Use fastboot.
Here is what to do.
You may find these files. If the file I typed not in your gsi zip file... Skip it.
Ok so download a program called minimum adv and fastboot. And install it. It's about 5mb ig. Then open it.switch your galaxy a10s to fastboot mode [bootloader] [download mode] they are the same.
To do this switch the a10s off. Then hold both volume up and down buttons. Then keep holding them and connect USB. From PC to mobile. Keep holding both volume buttons untill it prompts you to go to download mode. You gotta unlock bootloader but I guess you already unlocked it so go to download mode and follow these instructions.
You may find system.img
Do this command in adv thing in PC
fastboot flash system LOCATION://OF/YOUR/SYSTEM.IMG
you may find vbmeta.img
fastboot flash vbmeta LOCATION://OF/YOUR/VBMETA.IMG
both of these guys are in the gsi zip coming form google.
Good luck

[Q] [SOLVED] Broke the menu button - can't enter fastboot mode

hi guys!
I had the worst luck ever, my menu button broke! Now i can't enter fastboot mode in order to flash a new kernel (boot.img)
Is there a way to flash it, maybe using flash tool without fastboot mode? Since the kernel is not a tft file, but a img (found in the ROM`s zip file), I cannot just drop into flash tool. A workaround would be great.
I appreciate any help on this, i'm very sad with so many great roms and I can't taste any of them =/

[Q] HELP PLEASE I can't enter download mode or fastboot but can enter twrp and boot!

HI! I recently upgraded to an lg g3 and I immediately unlocked bootloader, installed twrp, and put a custom ROM on, now I want to switch back to the stock firmware. I don't have a backup of the LAF file and I can't enter fastboot or download mode in order to fix download mode so that I can revert to stock firmware! When I try to enter download mode (holding down top volume key and plugging into PC [I've tried both usb 3.0 and 2.0 with original cable]), lg logo briefly flashes on screen and blue led flickers then the screen is black and the phone shows up on my computer in device manager as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. I wiped my phone through twrp and restored my early backup from when I had just rooted it but that didn't change anything. Now the thing is, I have twrp installed and I can enter twrp just and the phone boots into any custom rom just fine.. The phone is rooted and bootloader is unlocked. I need to relock the bootloader and unroot but I can't without download mode. Any help would be really appreciated! I'm on an lg vs985.

Thanks! Sorry I guess I meant that I have twrp recovery installed and I can get into that and I can boot into the OS.
How do I flash the laf to my phone? And will that fix download mode?

i could speculate and say, use the recovery install command line code, changing recovery to laf, but i have no idea if thats ok to do with laf.
try at your own risk.

Ok so the problem is still the same and twrp dissapeared when I tried to use the same process to flash the laf. When I try to enter twrp the blue/green leg starts blinking. I put twrp back on. :crying:

How do people use fastboot commands, whenever I try it just says "waiting for device" and i've tried downloading drivers many times. ADB is working though. How can I restore download mode?

Sorry I don't know, but people are not using fastboot commands because it's not there, Verizon removed or blocked it.

im confused as to what the solution was exactly. if your laf was broken as you said, how did you fix it to pull your own laf?
the laf file i gave you is official, and is exactly the same as the one you posted. verified by md5 comparison.

The solution was just fixing broken download mode without fastboot. Your LAF probably would have worked as well, oops. I had two laf files, one was 32mb, and one was the one from you, I thought I just downloaded it twice and threw away the one you posted thinking it was a duplicate. I went hunting through my phone's files for the laf I backed up when flashing twrp later on after the other laf didn't work. Sorry about that.

Sorry, long time ago tha I haven´t visited XDA.
I have used the drivers of video´s link but i had to test many drivers. It was very dificult for my too.
Actually I don´t know wich was the drives that i used, sorry.
if you have once used some fastboot drivers for some device on windows 10, chances are most probably you will have issues with detecting other devices in fastboot mode . Either boot with linux or reinstall windows 10 is the only solution imho

Try this one: http://www.mediafire.com/file/45qwt6i4ccdnjd0/recovery.img/file
you need first to unlock bootloader (you need to be in bootmode):
fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX609J
Just after that you can flash recovery.img:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After this you can go back to recovery from boot menu navigating with up/down key and confirm with Power button!

which ROM do you have installed?
There is a chance to need to flash an original recovery (you can find it in original 8.1 ROM from Nubia), than boot in recovery and erase cache and data (IT WILL ERASE ALSO INTERNAL MEMORY!...SO BACK UP) and than unlcok bootloader, flash TWRP, flash ROM, flash bluespark boot.img

Anyone knows how to unlock the bootloader on android 10?

I can't seem to unlock bootloader on mi a3 on android 10 i get a lot of things on the powershell but nothing happens on the device.
Thank you in advance
Which commands do you use? Locking and unlocking the bootloader should have nothing to do with the version of Android you have installed

Use the proper twrp built for Android 10 from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...y-unoffical-twrp-xiaomi-mi-a3-t3987759/page16

Reflash stock firmware and boot up. Complete the setup wizard and connect to internet and check update.
Then unlock developer options. If you see OEM unlocking greyed then ur good to go.
Boot up to download mode.
Flash the vbmeta disabler with Odin. Place it in AP slot.
Then, it will reboot and ask you to wipe data, do it.
When it boots up, do the setup and again, connect to internet and check for update.
Again, unlock developer options. If you see OEM unlocking appears, then ur good to go.
Then boot to download mode again and then flash TWRP with Odin.
