T-Mobile LG H830, unlocked but cannot set APN with Visible SIM - LG G5 Questions & Answers

I have a T-Mobile H830 that has been carrier unlocked by T-Mobile. I have used it with AT&T or other carriers without issues. But today I tried to use it with Visible SIM (a Verizon MVNO, it should have a compatible LTE frequency) and the APN menu only give me the option to reset to default and no option to add new APN. Is there a workaround?

[Q] Is it possible to set a default APN for a particular carrier?

I just returned from overseas where I used a different SIM and when I put my AT&T SIM back in, the APN defaulted back to the AT&T HSPDA APN instead of the free tether one I had previously created.
Is there a way to override this so that whenever I put my AT&T SIM in it selects my APN by default?
Probably not. Manual change.
I voided my warranty.

[Q] Roaming in the USA with a Rogers 920 and WIND SIM

I have a Rogers Lumia 920 with service from WIND. I have an option to roam unlimited in the USA. Without changing the APN settings, data isn't working. I'm trying to change the APN settings to the T-Mobile ones but it's still not working. Any thoughts on what I should be doing?
I assume you've followed the instructions at http://www.windmobile.ca/network-and-coverage/international-roaming?
Normally you're not supposed to change your APN settings. The partners recognize your Wind APN settings and "bill" Wind. Wind knows you have the add-on so they take care of it internally.
You may want to call Wind and see what they say.

Sprint unlocked my phone but no data

Hey there,
So I called sprint and told them I need them to unlock my phone for international travel and they did. I tested it with AT&T and it worked for phone connections but not for data. Any idea how to make ATT data connection to work?
APN settings?
So I need to enter specific APN settings for each sim card/carrier I use?
Depends on provider. On ting.com I did, now on byowireless it just works. Both resell T-Mobile.
Google for your carrier's apns settings, and add them.

H831 - No LTE option in network mode

Hey everyone
I have the Canadian variant of the LG G5 (the H831) and I have no LTE option in network mode.
I bought this phone from WIND Mobile (now Freedom Mobile) and it seems like they Disabled the LTE functionality for some reason.
I was wondering if there is a way to enabled it?
I inserted my SIM in my friends phone (same model but with Rogers Wireless) and the phone downloaded the APN settings from Freedom Mobile.
That did not work at all and the phone was stuck on 3G just like my phone.
I heard if I install the firmware from another provider, it might work. However it seems the APN settings from my provider are causing the LTE option to disappear from network mode.
Lastly, I accessed the service menu by dialing a code in the dialer and I was able to enable LTE.
However, I was not able to make and receive phone calls.
Did anyone here have success enabling LTE with this model or similar?
suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Data Roaming troubles

I have been having difficulty with data roaming on stock Android 7.0 (RS98821d) on the LG G5 RS988 USA Unlocked device.
Using a T-Mobile USA SIM, I am able to use the the local T-Mobile USA network in the country of United States, but when roaming to another country and a foreign network, data no longer works correctly. Data often does not work at all until I go to the APN settings (Settings ->More -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names) and use the "Restore default settings" option. After a period I have to repeat the APN reset to get data roaming working.
Have others experienced this or similar issues?
Back in June I had similar issues in France. I have T-Mobile and the RS988. When I first got there I was using the fast.t-mobile.com APN and couldn't connect. I switched over to the epc.t-mobile.com APN and everything started working just fine. For the network mode I was using the LTE/GSM/UMTS setting. Hope this helps.
It seems that "epc.t-mobile.com" is supposed to be the T-Mobile USA non-LTE access point. I shall try to remember to try the "epc.t-mobile.com" APN next time while roaming internationally. However, after testing the "epc.t-mobile.com" access point, LTE can be used with it and it works well.
