Hello.
I have no idea where to put this topic, since I can't find anything related to it here. My apologizes if it's in the wrong section.
Anyone here with a TCL (Alcatel) phone with Android 10 who might be able to help ? Whenever I get an incoming call, the second I try to answer the call by swiping up, the screen locks and gives me NO possible way to answer it. Bought this phone in the Netherlands at the Mediamarkt nearly two months ago and all they tell me is to RMA the phone. Which, of course, is a F/Y-way to sother me off because they have no idea what to do.
I have the Alcatel (TCL) 3X 2020.
Tried to find the option 'tap to swipe', but it seems my phone doesn't even háve the damn option (my old Huawei P10 Lite with Android 8 does have that option though).
I've sent two tickets to TCL for help on this matter. The first ticket was closed while being unanswered, the second ticket is still open but also unanswered. It's almost as if they have NO idea what to advice.
Thing is, this also happens when I do a factory reset and wipe everything off the phone, the second after I finish the installation. So this is not caused by a third party app.
Just to clarify, the phone does NOT have a screenprotector and this happens both while in a case or just laying on my desk without a case.
Thanks in advance. This is really annoying, since I have no way to answer ANY incoming call

Well based on the image you posted it almost sounds like the proximity sensor isn't working...
The proximity sensor would cause the phone to go dark when on a call because it thinks the device is being held to your ear. The directions given in the image seem to indicate that it thinks the sensor is being covered. The problem with this theory is that it should only happen if you are on the call. In this scenario, the phone would ring, be answered and the screen would go dark. However based on your statements the call is not answered in which case the screen shouldn't go dark.
What happens when you make an outgoing call? Does the screen stay on until you put it to your ear? Does the screen immediately go dark? If you make an outgoing call and the screen stays on and you cover the red portion of the screen as shown in your image, does it then go dark?
I would try to use the phone in Safe Mode. This will rule out a bad app. Since this device was a replacement there could be an app that isn't compatible but got installed anyway. Running the phone in Safe Mode will prevent other apps from running or starting in the background. Hopefully this is the issue as it will be the easiest to solve. These are the directions for how to get your device in Safe Mode... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...touch-fierce&usg=AOvVaw1oz05btVelgo28bImiv_y5

No sound during calls

Hi there,
I've got a problem since the last update (20160608): I cannot hear anything in calls no matter if I am called or if I call someone. When I use the headset or switch to loudspeaker everything works fine. The problem exists with several SIM cards. I tried rebooting, clearing cash of Google Playstore, Google Framework and Play Services. And I changed the volume to maximum of course.
Any idea how to fix that?
Thanks a lot for the support!
Well since it worked before the update it most likely is not a hardware defect. I guess the usual suggestion/solution would be a factory reset, or to re-flash the ROM, but before you do something like that you could give the following a try:
- go into EngineerMode by dialing *#*#3646633#*#*
- go to the tab "Hardware Testing", then Audio>Volume>Voice and select "Receiver" in the second field
- compare/change the values to these:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
If your values do not differ from the ones shown, try to slightly change one of them and press "Set". Maybe this triggers a reset of the Receiver. Also turn the phone off and on again afterwards.
If this doesn't work, and if you don't find another solution, you should probably do a factory reset. Good luck!

Thanks for your help
Hello and thank you for your help.
However my values are the same as in the picture. Changing them and pressing set did not change a thing. This morning the fingerprint also broke. It does not recognize any finger and I am unable to set a new one. The sensor simply does not do anything. Turning on and off, rebooting did not help. I will try flashing Eragon and if it does not help I will try the tomrepair service. Any experiences with them?
Thank you
I have that same problems fingerprint scanner and phone calls. No one can hear me. I have to put it on speaker for a few seconds then turn it off. Even then. People still say they can't hear me. But this is on telephone c1 max.
I have the exact same problem with the ear-speaker.
Music one on the bottom works fine, so does bluetooth headset.
No sound during calls, others can hear me though.
I tried reseting the phone also.
I'm on the new Android 7.1 firmware. (http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-13393-1-1.html#.WUmUEGT1-SF)
I can't try the audio testing trick since a small part of my screen is not working either and of course it's exactly the the first item of the screen i can't select. I mostly managed by rotating the phone but test-tool does not allow rotation :S
I ended up getting mad and went out and got myself a new mobile (Not Elephone).
I loved the phone, but build quality is seriously lacking. Then again, it's priced accordingly.
I'm willing to test stuff if anyone has new ideas.
Same problem here, I have touchscreen problems (top of screen), audio call's problems and since last update of september, network settings problems (I must reboot my phone to take change of network state otherwise it restore his value after 2-3 min) and sim tray slot 1 doesnt work (must use slot 2)
I love the phone but the quality is not so good as other marks.
I also encountered the issue with the low sound in the voice call i tried to set the values that the picture showed and there is a small difference. Also any suggest to go higher with the values posted in the picture and what is the formula for increased in voice calls volume?

Workaround for screen turning black during calls because of proximity sensor

I have an Asus Zenpad 7 (Z370CG aka P01V.) I realized that my screen turns off during calls no matter what setting or app I downloaded to prevent this issue. I want it to be on so that I can access the other features of my phone and more importantly end the call without using the power button. I want to use the power button to be able to manually turn on/off the screen. I googled and read that it was a proximity sensor issue. I tried the hardware check (.12345+= on the calculator) and the proximity sensor test failed. Several Youtube videos show a physical remedy by opening and modifying with the front of the sensor but I preferred a less invasive cure.
I believe that that this issue is because of the phone's original dialer or calling screen or whatever manages the call and the screen during the call.

I tried several dialers, phone apps, contacts, and call screen apps with the original app but the screen still kept turning off once I made a call and the other phone started to ring. I tried to disable the original app and let other apps do its work but the screen still kept going black.
I finally decided to delete the original calling screen. I still had black screens when I tried to call so I rebooted and it worked! The screen no longer turned black. Asus's dialer lacked the fucntion to stop the call and did not allow me to use the speakerphone. I had to download another app that provided the features which were in the deleted original call screen. I am not using True Phone Dialer & Contacts and Light i Call Screen to handle my outgoing and incoming calls. Deleting the original call screen might require a rooted phone as well as a reboot, just disabling it while I was still unrooted still turned off the screen during calls.

Just Got My S9 Plus - A Couple Of Questions

Hi everyone,
I've just moved from my trusty LG G6 to a new SAmsung S9 Plus UK version (Exynos 9810) and so far I'm pretty happy, love the screen, the responsiveness and it's a lovely looking phone although slippery as a fish without a case, managed to find a good case/screen protector combo but took a while. Have gone for the Whitestone Doma which is an awesome screen protector but was really frustrated to get bubbles in the glue which shouldn't happen..
Anyway Its only really day 3 or 4 and I realise things may change in time but have some observations and wondered if anyone here could help please.
1) Standby drain, seems like many people have this so have downloaded Package Disabler Pro for Samsung and I am experimenting but its not anywhere near as good as my G6 at the moment. Guess this is trial and error but have already disabled much of the Samsung stuff, I'm a little apprehensive when it comes to system packages though as you never know if its going to mess things up completely.
2) On both the AOD and in the android shutter if I get 2 notifications from an app, they both show separately, I have a Xiaomi camera and if I get more than one alert of movement all notifications are separate and I wanted to know how to nest them so it only showed me once that I had notification for that app.. (hope that makes sense) cant find any way to do this. This isn't the problem of double notifications as I've seen but I hope you get what I mean.
3) LG has a built in service called Smart Settings which basically says things like if you go out of your current location turn Wi-fi off , when you get back into your location turn wifi on, if you start this app, turn on bluetooth, if you plug in headphones start this app.. etc..
It appears theres nothing like that on Samsung so could anyone recommend a 3rd part app that may help me achieve this as I miss it.
4) Does anyone know if S9 Plus will get 8.1? or will it go straight to P..
5) Forgot to add, I have a different photo viewer installed, I use F-Stop but for some reason in the camera app when you take a picture and press the gallery button it always defaults to the Samsung gallery app. Does anyone know how this can be changed please?
Thanks for listening guys, any help appreciated.
Wayne
1. Give it a couple of weeks for the system to settle. Just use it as it is without disabling any apps.
2. I don't know if you can do that system wide. I know some apps have that option.
3. Try LLama
4. No idea
5. Open settings and search for "default"
There you should be able to set default apps
I've provided a screenshot so you can see how it looks like
Hope it helps

Umidigi One Pro wont go back to "sleep"

Hey Guys,
I have just gotten a fresh Umidigi One Pro like 8 hours ago. Yay, at last, a brand new Phone.. Looks awesome and all BUT
Whenever it gets a Message via Email, Message or anything else that shortly lits up the screen, it will NOT go back to sleep, unless I open the Phone and turn it off again.
I had checked the settings and put Android inactivity thing to 30 Seconds where no inputs where made.
I have just now deactivated the messages on lockscreen completely and I am waiting for a information that I have received a new message (sent one for testing purpose).. and the screen STILL lit up again, even though not showing a message!
Any Ideas why Android isn't goint to sleep automatically? Because when it does not turn off, itgets more and more hot. I just had it only realized that i got DAAAAAMN hot, cuz it slid under the pillow.
I am completely puzzled about this, as my old MIUI usually turned off just after a few seconds (like 5-10 Secs latest) ...
It just now happened to happen AGAIN, my Email must have arrived, it does NOT show on the lockscreen, all in all i see like nothing beside Network+Wifi Signal, Battery, Time and Mic, Avatar and Camera Icon in the bottom.
It kind of pisses me off, as this would mess up Batterytime badly. I would love to keep the Phone, as it really looks awesome to me. Thats kind of a flaw, or maybe even damaged Phone?
I would love to hear from you that I just miss a feature and how to fix it.....
Thanks!
Mhm, the only way I found that would stop to lit up the Screen and not turning off again, is to turn off the processes in the background completely using DuraSpeed ... damn ... useless.

I must confirm this issue. After notification phone display is constantly on. Really annoying.
This is a problem... Potentially deal breaker. What's crazy is if you search for ambient display in settings it shows to be under the battery menu however, it's not there when I look for it.
I found an adb command that supposed to turn off wake screen on notification but I can't try it out right now for lack of computer.
If anyone wants you try, it's
adb shell settings put secure doze_enabled
Please let us know if it works.

Sony Xperia X - Issue with unknown problem - Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Hello,
I am new to the forums, so apologies if I break any rules and/or make mistakes.
EDIT: (I did try to search for this issue, but I don't know what it is, thus, unable to see other posts with the same issue, apologies once again)
I have a issue with my Sony Xperia X (f5121), its been updated to Android 8 couple years back, but there has been an issue since, its bugged me, but have never sought to find out or even ask until now.
I've added three pictures, one to show my phone details, second to show the home screen, and third picture is the actual issue I am faced with.
Before I delve into this, I will point out any common details with this handset:
Brand/Model/Memory = Sony Xperia F5121 (32GB)
Sim Lock = No - (UNLOCKED via code) - Previously locked to EE U.K
Country = U.K
Bootloader unlockable = No - can not be unlocked on this handset sadly
Android Version = 8.0
Okay, now the issue, there is a small portion of the screen (top part) that becomes fuzzy with lines, this happens before the lock screen appears, in order for me to unlock the handset via a pin:
(PHONE SCREEN OFF > PRESS POWER BUTTON > FUZZY SCREEN APPEARS (2-5 seconds delay) > LOCK SCREEN APPEARS > SWIPE TO ENTER PIN > HOME SCREEN ACCESS)
I am unsure what it is, but its been like this for about three years. This unknown issue happens and lasts anywhere between or about 2-5 seconds max, but the phone still functions perfectly well otherwise.
I've run the phone system tests, under developer mode, and everything reports back okay.
Therefore, I know this is not a screen issue, as it looks to be software related, perhaps the OS??
I don't install or own many apps, I have booted into safe mode, and the problem still persists, again none of the apps even uninstalled are causing this problem, I've reset the phone but again no avail, both soft and hard resets attempted.
Hence, if anyone has any insight as to what this is and if I should be worried about it, then please do let me know, as that would be super, the phone has been looked after really well since I got it on release from EE U.K in 2016. its just this issue thats now starting to make me wander what it is, and whether anyone else has faced such an issue with this particular handset, please do kindly let me know, bearing in mind this phone can not be modded in any way (Not looking for a fix, but any insight into this problem), seeing as the bootloader even if set to unlocked, will not permit me to actually load any modded ROMS etc onto it ( I googled this back in the past, so not at all upset as the current OS allows me to get to do what I do daily ;-))
Thank you
Best Regards,
TJ
