System Screen Animations - Google Pixel 3 Themes, Apps, and Mods

I found some screen animations that I thought I would share. Originally posted in an aroma installer by stangdriver44. For more detailed information, please visit the link to his thread below. I don't have any gifs or shots of the Animations so if you want to know what they are like, you'll have to visit his thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/aroma-ozop-mods-animations-8-5-add-ons-t3651748
There are four full animations
Flyme - iOS - MissingLink - Nexus 7
And five add-on Dialog animations
Bounce - Drop - FlipMix - fold - slide
Unzip the ADB installer onto your PC. Run either the bat file, (animinstaller.bat) or if you prefer, the powershell file (one for linux, one for windows).
If you want to mix the full animations with different dialog add-on animations, install the full animation first, then the add-on. When done select "Build the module" option. Flash the mymagiskanimation.zip that is created in a folder called ozop on your sdcard (via Magisk manager).

How to change the app Icons in your APP drawer(This will be tricky, but if youre bored. Have at it)
The icons themselves are stored inside the individual apk files. You need to open each one, swap out the icon and reassemble it. It's not nearly as hard as it sounds.
1. Tools you need -
- 7zip
Download the appropriate version for your PC. Don't grab the beta.
- The original copy of the Fresh ROM you used to flash your phone.
- The icons you want to change.
2. Create a working folder on your PC.
3. Using 7zip, open the Fresh ROM zip file. Navigate to the system/app folder inside the ROM. Highlight ALL the .apk files, and drag them into your working folder. Close the Fresh ROM zip file.
4. Decide on which icon you want to change first. I'll use the Browser as an example.
5. Use 7zip to open the Browser.apk you pulled out of the Fresh ROM. Once open, look for the res/drawable folder inside the apk.
6. Inside that folder, look for an .png file named ic_launcher_browser.png . That's the icon that the app uses.
7. Have your new icon ready. It should be 48x48 and a .png file. Make sure it's named ic_launcher_browser.png .
8. Drag the NEW icon into the open 7zip window that's showing the res/drawable folder. Choose yes if it asks you about overwriting the original file.
9. Close 7zip.
The Browser app has now been changed and will show your new icon in the drawer, and on the homescreen if you paste a shortcut. Do the same for each of the apps you want to change the icon of. The icon will always be in /res/drawable, and be named ic_launcher_ **app name**.png
Once you have changed all the icons, you'll have a set of apk files with your new icons. You can push these to the phone one by one from the terminal, or you can create your own update.zip
To push them to the phone (once again Browser.apk will be our example)
1. In your Android SDK/tools folder, make a new folder called icons.
2. Copy the Browser.apk file to the folder you just created.
3. Open the windows command prompt, and navigate to the Android SDK/tools folder. NOT the new folder you just made.
4. Enter the following commands one line at a time:
Code:
adb remount
adb push \icons\Browser.apk /system/app/Browser.apk
5. Do the same for each of the apk files you edited, changing the name Browser.apk to the name of the file you're pushing to the phone.
6. Reboot the phone.
To create your own ROM to flash them.
1. Attached is a file called META-INF.zip . Download it. Open with 7zip and drag the META-INF folder into your working folder.
2. Inside your working folder, make a new folder called system. Inside it, create a folder called app. Move all the edited apk files into this folder.
3. Highlight the system folder, and the META-INF folder you copied over and right click. Choose 7zip->create archive. Make sure it's a zip archive, and name it icons-eclair-fresh.zip . When it's finished, open it and make sure the directory structure matches your working folder. All the apks need to be in system/app/, and there needs to be a META-INF/com/google/android/update-script. Nothing else should be inside the zip file.
4. Download the second attachment named signing-tools.zip. Create a folder on your PC named sign_tools, and copy the three files in the zip to the new folder.
5. Copy the icons-eclair-fresh.zip file and place a copy in the sign_tools folder.
6. Open the terminal, and go to the sign_tools folder. Type the following command in the terminal:
Code:
java -jar signapk.jar testkey.x509.pem testkey.pk8 icons-eclair-fresh.zip icons-signed.zip
7. That will create a new zip file named icons-signed.zip. Open it, and look inside the META-INF folder. You will see 3 RSA keys along with the com folder. That means you're done.
Copy the new icons-signed.zip file to your SD card. Reboot into recovery. DON'T FORGET TO DO A NEW BACKUP BEFORE YOU CONTINUE! Flash your file without wiping. Enjoy your new icons, and congrats. You're now an Android developer.

hey you got anything on editing the notification tray? I can't seem to find any good guide.
Kinda tricky to do this, and only works on De Odexed ROMs so I didnt wanna put it in OP, but I guess I can, I'll just put a warning
There are a few ways to do it, but heres the easiest way to theming
http://circle.glx.nl/
the status bar is an image found in framework-res.apk /res/drawable-hdpi/
statusbar_background.png - status bar image. change it in photoshop to what you like. it's not a "color," so you can change the image to have a shadow, a design, whatever you like.
just keep in mind that if you make it transparent..it may not work well with other apps on your phone (i.e. you'll see the apps background through the bar on top, not always a good thing!
dont confuse it with status_bar_background.png, which is the background file for your notification drawer

FAQ
THEME FAQ
What's the difference between the dark and the dark_minimal theme?
The minimal themes only have one highlight color (dark holo blue).
The main advantage of the minimal themes is their reduced boot time compared to the multicolor versions.
They're ment to be used as base for porting or creating other single color versions.
Can I use this theme on my *devicename*?
Most likely yes. The themes can be used on any device with the screen resolution the filename of the theme suggests.
For example, the "1080_*variant*.zip" can be used on any FullHD device.
When I reboot to recovery, the theme isn't applied. Any ideas?
This is most likeley due to wrong naming of the theme folder or the ui.zip.
Make sure the folder is named "theme", without capital letters.
Also check if you accidentally renamed the downloaded zip to "ui.zip.zip" (common pitfall when renaming the zip in windows explorer).
When I reboot to recovery, I get a "recovery bootloop". Is my phone broken?
Nope, this is most likeley due to a bad download.
Please download the theme again using another browser or app. For instance, ES File Explorer's build-in downloader has proven to be unreliable for the dropbox links I provide.
I like what you did there, but can I has more/other colorz?
Colors are a matter of personal preferrence. I try to keep the themes neutral, and the colors used are (mostly) in accordance with android design guidelines.
For other colors, you'll have to modify the theme yourself. I will gladly provide the source file for the images to everyone interested.
Will you make a dark/black Play theme?
No, because I don't want to maintain more versions of the theme. But everybody is welcome to contribute to the thread...
Will you help me to port my favourite other theme to device XY?
No. But this guide provides insight on how you can do it.
RECOVERY REPACK FAQ
What version of TWRP is the repack?
Always the latest available for a certain device.
As I don't keep track of all TWRP threads, please remind me if there was an update for your device.
I'd like a repack for *devicename*, how do I make one?
Download and unpack Android Image Kitchen.
Unpack the zip.
Download the zip containing the custom curtains (splash images).
Get the recovery image you want to modify from the TWRP download site.
Copy the recovery image to the Image Kitchen folder.
In windows explorer, drag & drop the recovery image on the "unpackimg.bat".
Unpacking will create two new folders (ramdisk and split_image).
Rename the splash of your choice to "curtain.jpg" and drop it into /ramdisk/res/images.
Hit "repackimg.bat".
This will create a "image-new.img", which you can then flash away using your preferred method.
My preferred method for installing the recovery is GooManager, so how do I flash this .img thing?
Use the theme. It now supports direct image flashing from the install page.
Via Fastboot. Most useful to know how to (especially in case things go sideways).
Via app. For a variety of devices, Flashify has proven to be a good app for flashing recovery images. It's under (very) active development and I highly recommend to give it a try.
Alternative apps (can be device specific): SGS4 Flasher, ... (please help me to populate this part)
AROMA FM
The theme has an option to use the Aroma File Manager as the default recovery file manager.
Download this flashable zip.
Flash the zip in recovery.
It will copy the flashable Aroma FM package to \TWRP\aromafm.
Go to "settings" and tick the option to use Aroma FM.
Profit.

added theme chooser to holofied settings
moved holofied settings into seperate menu (play, xda)
fixed position of progress bar on wipe pages (play)
How to use the theme chooser:
copy all themes to your device (use internal storage if you have a device with micro sd)
in holofied settings, go to "swap theme" page, browse to the theme.zip and select it
confirm your selection (recovery will now copy the zip to the correct folder, rename it to ui.zip, then reload the theme)
NOTE 1: Reloading the theme will set all theme settings to default. Recovery settings will persist.
NOTE 2: Reloading the theme will sometimes trigger a recovery reboot (appeared randomly on Galaxy S3).
I tried the Play theme and now im stuck in a recovery bootloop. I pulled battery and waited a bit, every time i attempt to power on the phone it wants to boot into recovery and gets stuck in the loop. Is there anything i can do besides Odin back to stock?

First try to ODIN to stock recovery, boot to recovery and wipe cache. It should boot back into system afterwards. I've had this problem on the S3 with the light theme (and only with the light theme), so I'd be interested if you can fix it that way, and if the problem persists after you've redownloaded the theme and tried again (recovery bootloops might also be caused by a faulty download, but then you should still be able to boot into system....)
So plaese let me knoe how it goes...
EDIT:
I was searching for a standalone stock recovery to flash, but can't find any.
As the CF-Autoroot package also contains the stock recovery, you can try to flash this one via odin, or you just take the recovery.img and flash it via fastboot...

I Odin'd recovery and booted system back up. Flashed the repacked recovery for the new curtain. Going to attempt theme again. Should I use the 1080 or multirom version?
EDIT: nvm, I got it working. I used the 1080Play.zip and it worked now. Thanks!!! I was getting tired of the old look. Love it!

Good, glad you brought it back to life again. The MultiRom versions can currently only be used on Nexus 5 and HTC One. It requires a modded recovery which allows you to install multiple roms. It's a nice feature for the restless flasher but not available for the S5 (yet).

Feedback needed
Okay, so here are two new versions to test. If you do, please give feedback.
The only change is the way the color changing is handled. So please change the colors back and forth and report any oddities (or if it's working).
To change the color, the ui.zip will be unpacked, the image set with the selected highlight color will be copied to the folder that is used by the recovery, and a search and replace operation will alter color definitions in the xml file. Then everythig is zipped again and copied to the theme folder.
This means:
The color change will no longer happen "on the fly". The recovery needs to reboot for the change to take effect.
The xml file is no longer 25k lines long, but 10k lines (like current minimal themes). Once you have set up the theme, the time to boot to recovery should decrease significantly (compared with the current multicolor versions).
If this works on all devices, there will be no more need for the minimal themes (good for me).
The shortened xml gives room for new features without pushing boot time above 10 seconds (good for all).

Implemented ability to flash .img files directly from the install page (thanks to @osm0sis for the Flashify script and his help polishing this feature)
Reworked color changing mechanism on black/dark/light (thanks to @DSM_ for the idea and the zip binary)
Added 3 more highlight colors to black/dark/light
Restored default file list behaviour, bookmark function is now optional (enable it in Holofied Settings > Misc)
Fixed overlapping text on wipe page (occured on M8 and Skyrocket)
Fixed overlapping actionbar buttons on black/dark/light for some resolutions
About image flashing
The feature is tested on Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (grouper and flo)
It allows to flash .img files from recovery without the need for a flashable zip
Supported types are "boot", "recovery" and "radio / modem"
The install page now has a toggle to switch between zip files and images (see screenshots)
Simply choose the image, then select the image type and flash away
Also read the "about" text box before flashing :good:
The script works only on devices with standard "by-name" partition naming, thus it will not work on all devices the themes are available for
If your device is among the unsupported ones, the script will bail and wont flash the image - instead it will tell you you need to continue to use zips or apps

Ok, makes sense, I used ES before reading this part. But now my S5 won't boot to anything other than recovery, and it "bootloops". I've taken the battery out twice, and it's still booting into recovery automatically. Probably because I told TWRP to reboot to recovery after I renamed the file to ui.zip, so it's saved in /cache to "boot recovery" and won't be cleared until something boots to clear it...
I've tried booting into the bootloader (which works), but apparently the bootloader doesn't clear the "boot recovery" flag, so I end up right back in the "bootloop" after another reboot.
Ideas?

Themes / Apps / Mods Custom Magisk Module Mod Maker-ADB and Zip Installers

The purpose of the ADB installer is to generate for you a custom module that you can flash in Magisk App. The Zip Installer actually installs it for you on the final step and is done thru Magisk app instead of your pc.. Both will have all the mods that you have selected from the installer menu-folders. You need root and of course you need to be attached to your PC. On first installation of systemui base, a pop-up asking to give ADB shell root permission will show. Please do so.
Zip installer is installed from your phone, not your pc. You will install the mods through Magisk app. Unzip the Zip Installer onto your internal sdcard. Like ADB installer, start with a SystemUI base. Do not reboot between selections as Magisk as shows after flashing selections (options are found inside the numbered folders). Hit the back button to make your next selection. Do not reboot thru Magisk until after you are done with your selections and have flashed the "Complete Installation" zip.
Custom clocks (date, etc) and internet speed indicators do not change colors due to light-dark background colors like the statusbar icons do.
I'm also including my Pixel Launcher mod below. Also a ADB Installer. You can change app drawer background-text color (separately for light mode and dark mode). Change the number of hot seat icons on home page (and size) as well as change the number of columns in the app drawer.
ADB and Zip Installer Instructions-Root is required
1. Flash a SystemUI Base First. It provides the necessary smali files and public ID's for everything to work.
The difference between color base and stock base :
Color Base:
You have to flash a color in order to change the color of the QS tiles (default is blue). You have a choice to leave the "OFF" QS tiles as a inverse of "ON" QS color or you can change them to Gray. You also have an option to change lockscreen colors. Color base doesn't always work nicely with light theme. Nothing horible. just some text in places that is not as bright as it needs to be.
Stock Base:
This is the one most people need to use. To change the color of the QS tiles for stock base you go to settings/display/device theme and select the color you want. The "OFF" color tiles remain gray. You have an option to change settings/notification/volume bar backgrounds to black. The background accent also works with Color Base. There is no option to change lockscreen color with Stock Base.
2. FLASH ALL THE MODS YOU WANT. ONCE YOU DONE WITH EVERYTHING, FLASH THE "COMPLETE INSTALLATION" Option. This will create a Magisk App flashable zip in a folder on your sdcard called ozop (for ADB Installer). Flash that to install your selection of mods. Flashing it for Zip Installer will install it as a module and is your final step.
Root required
ADB Instructions.
1. Unzip ADB Mods Installer Files.zip on your PC
2. Run TulsadiverModsInstaller.bat (Give ADB Shell Root Permissions. If missed on first opportunity, turn on in magisk manager, superuser)
3. ADB debugging Enabled
4. Flash the SystemUI Base First. It provides the necessary smali files and public ID's for everything to work
5. Go through the other options selecting what all mods you want. It is generally best to start at the top and work your way down.
6. Once finished with selections, run "Complete Installation" at the bottom. This will generate your mymagisk.zip module in a folder called "ozop" on your sdcard.
Root required
ZIP Instructions.
1. Unzip Zip Installer onto your internal sdcard
2. Flash thru Magisk app. Flash the SystemUI Base First. It provides the necessary smali files and public ID's for everything to work
(Do not reboot between selections as Magisk shows after flashing selections. Hit the back button to make your next selection)
3. Go through the other options selecting the mods you want. It is generally best to start at the top and work your way down.
4. Once finished with selections, flash "Complete Installation" at the top. This will install your selections as a Magisk module.
If you installed the color base version, once installed and working, go to settings/display/Device theme and reselect the QS/accent color you chose from installer menu.

If anyone needs more help, here are the steps that worked for me:
1) Make sure device is rooted.
2) Enable USB debugging from Developer options.
3) Plug device into PC.
4) Device should have Android launched and sitting at your home screen.
5) On your PC, open ADB from command prompt, and call "adb kill-server" and "adb start-server".
6) Open on TulsadiverModInstallerStock.bat.
7) Type 1 and press Enter. Select an option and press Enter again. You should see a quick flash of text, which indicates failure in this case. Look at your device and you should see an "Allow USB debugging" prompt, so accept this.
8) You should get a Superuser prompt at some point here on your device. If not, go to Magisk > Superuser and enable "Shell".
9) Retry step 7 and it will work this time. The app will take some time to generate the base file. You can ignore any errors that show up here, as long as the creation process continues.
10) Follow any intermediate steps you want. These will be very quick.
11) Complete the last step. This one will take some time.
12) Go to Magisk > Modules > Install from storage, and install the module that was just created (found in the /storage/ozod folder).
13) Reboot.
Hey, it seems very interresting !
2 quick questions. When using full screen gestures, does removing navbar/set height to 0 break things ?
And is it possible to add things like : Double tap to wake (instead of single) // Double tap to sleep on launcher and lockscreen. Thanx !
Unsure about double tap. In regards to navbar, I don't remove it to 0 dip, but to .5. That seems to eliminate breakage. That being said, I'm currently redoing this mod as I've found multiple bugs.
I've identified an issue that causes the navbar to scroll off-screen when the notification panel is shown. First I turn off my screen by pressing the Power button (but phone still kept unlocked by Smart Lock). This causes the issue to start. Then I select the Lockdown option to lock my phone, and this fixes the issue:
screen-20211101-082000[1]
Watch "screen-20211101-082000[1]" on Streamable.
streamable.com
This creates a problem for many apps that have content which is aligned to the bottom of the screen, as it resizes the app's content. It's especially problematic for list content, since the list scrolls up a bit when this happens and the scroll position stays that way:
screen-20211101-081102
Watch "screen-20211101-081102" on Streamable.
streamable.com
EDIT: Wait, is this a problem with stock Android 12 when not using gesture navigation? It still happens even when I disable the Magisk modules. It doesn't seem to be a situation I can even replicate in emulator.
February update has been uploaded.
A new ADB installer has been uploaded to update the "NavbarGone" option due to the 2nd generation February update. That is the only thing that needed updating. Another option would be to replace the "nav0" folder that is inside the "navbar" folder with the attached.
March update for 12.1 has been uploaded.

I just added one for 12.1
April update for 12.1 has been uploaded.
Used ADB install for RC/battpercentgoneswap and flashed waterfall28.zip separately. Working perfectly and very easy to install. Also works alongside HideNavBar and USNF. I was banging my head trying to stack the standalone mods.
Thank you for the great work, and thank you for being patient with users like me. So glad to have my battery and time looking the way I expect. You never know how much you miss something until it's gone. The mods really make it so much easier to glance that information.

Used ADB install for RC/battpercentgoneswap and flashed waterfall28.zip separately. Working perfectly and very easy to install. Also works alongside HideNavBar and USNF. I was banging my head trying to stack the standalone mods.

Glad you tried it and that it worked for you. Also, thank you for your support.
Mods for April update will work on May update.
I uploaded the old firmware. There were some changes, apparently. Please hold off for a while.
The services.jar and SystemUI has changed. It's going to have to be updated.
June update has been uploaded.
June update working and easy install! Think you could incorporate waterfall28 into the ADB installer so it's a one-stop shop? Right now I have to reboot and flash them separately, which is fine. However, I have been using your mod for many months and intend to continue for even more. It would be a nice convenience.

It's in the zip installer now... I forgot to add it to the adb installer.
