App Messaging
Native Ads
Huawei IAP Kit
In-App Purchases aggregates global mainstream payment methods and supports users to buy various types of virtual products and services within an app. IAP provides users with a convenient and high-quality experience and also helps developers to continuously earn revenue and create more business value globally.
Huawei IAP provides a product management system (PMS) for managing the prices and languages of in-app products (including games) in multiple locations.
Sandbox Testing
Sandbox testing allows you to complete end-to-end testing without real payments when you connect to Huawei IAP for joint commissioning. You can configure test accounts in the AppGallery Connect and allow these testers to perform sandbox testing.
Before testing, you need to add test accounts, which are real HUAWEI IDs, under Users and permissions in the AppGallery Connect. For details, refer to Managing Tester Accounts.
Huawei Native Ads
The Native Ad API allows you to build a customized experience for the ads you show in your app. When using the Native Ad API, instead of receiving an ad ready to be displayed, you will receive a group of ad properties such as a media content, ad title, ad source, call to action, and you will have to use them to construct a custom view where the ad is shown.
You will also get dislike this ad, rating, etc.
Huawei Analytics Kit
Huawei Analytics Kit is a one-stop data analysis platform for mobile app developers that utilizes data to drive daily app operations, bringing out dynamic details in a comprehensive, timely, and efficient manner. These cutting-edge solutions inspire out-of-the-box app service innovations, helping developers and operations personnel grow revenue and expand the reach of their apps.
Events: An event refers to the behaviour of a user with regard to a product, or in other words, a specific event is something that a user completes at a specific time point, place, and manner.
Real Time Example: Take the process of browsing for a typical item on a cab booking platform, as an example. Corresponding events can include tapping the registration button, accessing the product details app, and exiting the page. Therefore, event monitoring is, in essence, the detailed study of user behaviour within an app.
Huawei In-App Messaging
Huawei In-App Messaging is one of the simplest tools, but it is super useful to keep your active users. The service promotes them to keep using the app by sending messages that enhance or promote certain features of your app.
Note: Merchant Service

How to improve monetization while continuing to acquire users? All of these challenges, and many others, are addressed at the AppGallery Connect Academy · Live event, offering actionable insights on how to grow your app business to new levels.
Partner with AppGallery Connect to grow your business, by harnessing global app distribution and broad-based device support.
As a top-3 global app marketplace, HUAWEI AppGallery provides access to a wide variety of both global and locally-oriented apps across 18 app categories and has attracted over 530 million MAU in 170+ countries and regions by the end of 2020.
In order to continuously provide quality and safe app experience for users, AppGallery has launched AppGallery Connect, a one-stop app service platform that empowers developers' app creativity and business growth. As of the end of 2020, AppGallery Connect had already partnered with 2.3 million developers across the globe, facilitating 384 billion app distributions on AppGallery in 2020 alone.
A/B Testing: Conduct group experiments to determine the best variant for your app.
A/B Testing enables you to make informed operations decisions based on specific data. It conducts group experiments to determine user preferences related to UI design, written content, and product functions. A/B Testing does not directly boost user activity, but its experiment results help you determine user preferences, and improve indicators such as DAU and MAU.
In one notable example, an app team split users into two groups to determine whether a new function could facilitate user engagement. This function was only made available to one group. Two weeks later, the daily active duration of users in the treatment group was half an hour longer than that for users in the control group. In light of this, the team ultimately decided to release the function, and was proven correct, as the daily user activity duration rose by 15%.
Remote Configuration: Change how your app looks and works, without requiring users to update the app.
Sleep Sounds is an app that provides lullabies and natural white noise to help users fall asleep with greater ease. The Sleep Sounds team utilized AppGallery Connect Remote Configuration to make changes to their app, while also avoiding the need to release a new version. The team simply made changes on the cloud, and the changes took effect on the app side. This enabled Sleep Sounds to make targeted recommendations to users based on their local market, age, gender, and other attributes, upon obtaining the user's consent. Just two weeks into using the service, Sleep Sounds saw an 8% increase in its number of users, and a 10% increase in user engagement.
App Linking: Provide a consistent link access across platforms and versions, for higher conversion rates.
App Linking helps you create deep links for in-app content, and display them across a wide range of channels, including those on social media. By tapping a link, the user can directly access the in-app content. Those users who have not installed the app will be redirected to HUAWEI AppGallery for download and installation.
For example, if you are planning a promotion in your app, App Linking can help you place the promotional link on a diverse range of ad platforms. Existing users can then launch the app and open the specific page with just a tap; new users will be redirected to AppGallery to download and install the app, and then to the specific promotional page upon launching the app.
Linking premium in-app content enables you to convert mobile web users into native app users, which provides a way to grow your user base. App Linking also supports tracing parameters, which means that you can view data analysis and trace traffic sources across different channels.
App Messaging: Send contextual messages to engage users.
With the Call Screen app, users can choose from a range of customized incoming call skins, some of which have visual alerts to ensure that important calls aren't missed. But the developer found that some of the new skins they had released were not being downloaded by very many users, and reviews of the skin were mixed. To address this, the developer used the App Messaging service in AppGallery Connect to notify users of new available skins, after obtaining their consent. Now, when a user signs in, Call Screen provides them with skin recommendations based on their preferences. The service helped increase the number of app users by 11% in just three weeks.

HDC 2021: HUAWEI DTM Helps Developers Track Data Without Coding

From October 22 to 24, the HUAWEI DEVELOPER CONFERENCE 2021 (HDC.Together) was held in Songshan Lake, Dongguan. At the HMS Core 6.0: App Services technical session, the product executive of HUAWEI Dynamic Tag Manager (DTM) gave a speech on codeless tag management, and detailed the functions and advantages of DTM, attracting much attention from the audience.
As a tag management system, DTM can help developers flexibly manage data tracking tags for their apps without coding, empowering them to dynamically track specific events and report data to third-party analytics platforms with ease. Such a feature piqued the interests of many developers who attended the conference.
To explain how data is collected and reported without coding, let's look at the DTM service process in the figure above. DTM consists of a cloud portal and client. Developers can create a configuration file on the portal, which is then downloaded by the DTM SDK integrated into their apps. When a user clicks an ad or button in the app, the DTM SDK will collect, process, and send data based on the configuration file. The data can then be sent to HUAWEI Analytics or third-party analytics platforms as required. The configuration process is highly flexible, and even operations personnel with no coding experience can quickly create a configuration file on their own, reducing the workload of programmers.
During the HMS Core 6.0: App Services technical session, the product executive demonstrated how to use DTM with an online shopping app. When a user taps Add to Shopping Cart, the shopping app reports an event containing relevant data to a third-party analytics platform. To implement this feature, we can create a configuration file on DTM, which consists of three parts:
When to report data: This part determines when data will be reported, such as when a user taps the Add to Shopping Cart button.
What data to send: This part configures which data to be sent to the analytics platform, such as product name, color, and version.
Where data is sent to: This part specifies one or more analytics platforms to which the data is reported, for example, HUAWEI Analytics and HUAWEI Ads.
After such an event is generated, the DTM SDK will quickly collect and send the event to the specified analytics platforms based on the configuration file.
The DTM product executive also introduced another big advantage of DTM, which is visual event tracking. With visual event tracking, the native app or web app screen can be replicated on the DTM portal, allowing marketers and developers to directly add tracking events and parameters by clicking relevant elements on the portal page. This has the effect of considerably improving data collection efficiency.
DTM empowers developers to obtain and distribute data with ease by configuring rules or adding visual events.
Efficient Ad Conversion Tracking with DTM
During the session, a product expert from HUAWEI Ads gave a presentation on how HUAWEI Ads and DTM work together to track ad conversions efficiently, and shared his experience of using DTM.
Figure: Presentation on how HUAWEI Ads and DTM work together to track ad conversions efficiently
According to Huawei's statistical data, around 35% of web advertisers now use DTM to promote ad conversions, helping significantly reduce their workloads and improve efficiency. Before using DTM, web advertisers needed to add tracking code to individual web pages, and test and release the code, which is usually a time-consuming process. Following the adoption of DTM, web advertisers can now configure, test, and release tracking events using DTM, reducing the overall process time by 80%. In addition, when tracking events need to be changed, web advertisers can directly do so on the DTM portal without having to write additional code or release an app update, sharply shortening the development period. It comes as no surprise that event tracking with DTM is now the first choice for HUAWEI Ads web advertisers to track conversions on web pages.
Refined Operations with DTM
Figure: Huawei personnel explain DTM functions to developers
DTM garnered much attention for itself at this year's HDC, thanks to its flexibility, efficiency, low cost, support for multiple platforms, and ability to provide mobile app and web page data tracking without coding. Ultimately, the key advantage of DTM is that it allows operations personnel to easily configure and modify rules for reporting events to various analytics platforms, which not only helps reduce development costs but also allows operations personnel to quickly obtain a wide range of data and adjust their operations strategies accordingly.

[FAQs] Applying for Health Kit Scopes

HMS Core Health Kit unlocks atomic data for developers. After obtaining user consent, your app will then be able to read, add, modify, or delete users' health and activity data by calling Health Kit APIs. To begin with, you will need to first apply for test scopes from Health Kit, to access this data before your app is released. Here I have listed some problems that I have encountered during the application, as well as their solutions. I hope you find this helpful.
After I send an application to Health Kit, how long will it take for my application to be reviewed? The review takes about 15 workdays, and you will be notified of the result via SMS and email. If your application is rejected, modify your materials according to the feedback, and then submit your application again. The second review will take another 15 working days. Please check your materials carefully so that your application can pass the review as soon as possible.
Can I apply for accessing Health Kit as an individual developer?According to the privacy policy, individual developers can apply for accessing Health Kit to read/write basic user data (such as step count, calories, and distance) if your app is intended for short-term research, development, and testing purposes. But please note the following:
During application, you have to specify when your project or testing ends. Relevant personnel will revoke the scopes in due time.
You do not have access to advanced user data (such as heart rate, sleep, blood pressure, blood glucose, SpO2, and other health data).
After your application and personal credit investigations have been reviewed, only the first 100 users will be able to access the Health Kit service that your app integrates.
This restriction cannot be removed by applying for verification.
This can only be removed by applying for the HUAWEI ID service again, registering as an enterprise developer, and then applying for Health Kit service.
What is different between the data scopes opened to enterprise developers and individual developers? The following lists the respective data scopes available for individual and enterprise developers.
Individual developers: height, weight, step count, distance, calories, medium- and high-intensity, altitude, activity record summary, activity record details (speed, cadence, exercise heart rate, altitude, running form, jump, power, and resistance), personal information (gender, date of birth, height, and weight) and real-time activity data.
Enterprise developers: In addition to the basic data scopes opened to individual developers, enterprise developers also have access to location data and the following advanced data: heart rate, stress, sleep, blood glucose, blood pressure, SpO2, body temperature, ECG, VO2 max, reproductive health, real-time heart data, and device information.
What are the requirements for enterprise developers to access Health Kit?If you only apply for accessing basic user data, the paid-up capital of your company must be larger than or equal to CNY 1 million; if you apply for accessing advanced user data, the paid-up capital of your company must be larger than or equal to CNY 5 million. What's more, Huawei will take your company's year of establishment and associated risks into consideration.
If you have any questions, contact [email protected] for assistance.
What are the requirements for filling in the application materials?Specific requirements are as follows:
Fill in every sheet marked with "Mandatory".
In the Data Usage sheet, specify each data read/write scope you are going to apply for, and make sure that these scopes are the same as the actual scopes to be displayed and granted by users in your app.
What does it mean if the applicant is inconsistent? The developer name used for real-name verification on HUAWEI Developers must be the same as that of the entity operating the app. Please verify that the developer name is consistent when applying for the test scopes. Otherwise, your application will be rejected.
What should I do if my application was rejected because of incorrect logo usage?Make sure that your app uses the Huawei Health logo in compliance with HUAWEI Health Guideline. You can click here to download the guideline and the logo in PNG format.
Please stay tuned for the latest HUAWEI Developers news and download the latest resources.
Why can't I find user data after my application has been approved?Due to data caching, do not perform the test until 24 hours after the test scopes have been granted.
If the problem persists, troubleshoot by referring to Error Code.
