Anyone go from tan s5e to s7+? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 / S7 Plus Questions & Answer

Im debating upgrading to tabs7+. My tab s5e is just too sluggish. I played around with the s7+ in bestbiy, and it really is speedy. 120hz is nice too. My concern though is it might be oo heavy/big. Anyone upgrade from a s5e? Thoughts??
EDIT...Just picked one up. This thing is a beast. I love it!

Hehe, I upgraded from a Tab S2 which was even a bigger difference in the performance.
And beside the heavy weight of the TabS7+ in all other categories it outperforms MUCH my good old TabS2.
I made some speed tests with the internal memory and I see awesome 680 Mbyte write speed and 1 GByte/second read speed!
The Tab S7+ is truly a beast regarding the performance!

I went from the s6 to the s7+, returning the one I got to take advantage of the best buy pricing right now to get the 8g 256gb version, but otherwise I'm loving it.

I went from S5e to S7 and loving it!
Was concerned about the lack of AMOLED screen but its not really noticeable and I prefer a more portable and lighter tablet.
I have my S20 Ultra alongside and the screens aren't much different at all. Actually like the natural colours of the Tab S7

Is S3 going to be worth price over Nexus

Thinking of getting S3, but obviously will be a price premium. Wondering if it will be worth it over the Samsung Galaxy Nexus?
Same size screen, removable battery, fair do only 16Gb on Nexus, few software features on S3. Anyone actually seen a S3 yet, is the screen as bad/good as people saying?
Is the screen completely different to Nexus, which is best?
Cheers

There are quit a bit of software differences as Samsung added a lot of features to the SGS3.
The screen is added with Gorilla Glass 2, being thinner and allowing better visibility. http://mobile-review.com/review/samsung-galaxy-s3-fl-en.shtml
It's really up to you. The phone is nearly twice as powerful with a GPU close to 2.5 times more powerful as well. The battery life rating on GSMArena is rated pretty high also. It's a good solid phone and will be for 1 or 2 years with a good community and support.
The only reason to move to a SGS4 in the future might be for RAM, that is the only thing I didn't see a big jump for the SGS3.
The camera is much better as well.
I'd probably wait for the next nexus devices to come around with jelly bean.

Nexus 4.65 inch -> S3 4.8 inch, also reported the S3's screen is brighter
Nexus dual core OMAP processor at 1.2GHz -> S3 Quad Core Exynos at 1.4GHz, very powerfull GPU
Nexus 5MP camera -> S3 very nice 8MP camera
Nexus 16GB memory -> S3 16/32/64 + 50GB dropbox + SDcard
Also what I like: the S3 has a wolfson soundchip like the S1, musicwise the S3 will be better then the Nexus as far as I understand.
Besides that, the S3 has software tricks the Nexus doesn't. I might have missed something but this is most of it. I don't know how big the difference is between the Nexus and S3, having a quad core might be good "future-proof" wise.
edit: forgot, removable battery (and bigger battery, 2100mAh)
One thing to consider is that Nexus is pentaband (i.e. works with the cheaper t-mobile prepaid) whereas s3 is not (to the best of my knowledge, anyway).
Another thing to consider is custom development; it's in the high now with the Nexus, and unlikely to be as active even when the S3 goes out in full blow.
Aside from these, I think the S3 has all the advantages, both hardware-wise and in terms of additional software (that you can remove later, if you don't like). The price premium is $200ish, but it's worth it for a long term device.
If you wait for the S3 to come out there's an okay chance the Nexus price would drop even further (though, to be honest, I'm not sure if it can beat the current google subsidy in the play store).
Being a Gnex owner I have to say I love it. Have the S3 on preorder as I have to have it, same will happen in November when the new Gnex comes to town. I don't keep my phones for long. To answer ur question I will have to say get the S3, if u want the ability to fully rock your phone with whatever and however YOU want then get a Google phone, they are first to get everything ie. updates, roms, themes, etc.
I have the Verizon version of the GNex. It's a great phone, but there's many things about the phone that make is sub-par, in my opinion.
I think the one good thing about it is it runs vanilla android 4.0.
With the S3, it's a huge upgrade from the GNex with a nicer screen, larger screen, better processor, thinner, better battery life (well compared to my LTE version), and I think I just looks much better. I'm sure it'll run smoother too, but that is yet to be decided as none of us have our pre-order units in our hot little hands yet.
On the flip side, GNex runs Vanilla Android while S3 run Sammy's TW UI over Android. Now, I was not/am not a huge fan of the previous version of TW on the S2, I think I might have different opinions about TW in S3.
I hope I'll like it, but I won't know until I get my phone
From my perspective, S3 all the way. Don't even consider GNex. If you want a GNex, I'd say get the next Google Android Nexus device with Jelly Bean, as other xda guys have mentioned.
My 2 cents.

This is probably beating a dead horse, but we don't know if it has nicer screen, until everyone has it and make comparison. It is still Pentile, which is okay, but it would need better quality control and not suffer from grey banding and/or dark spots and/or tinting which half of phones I had in my signature suffered from.
The Samsung is best phone ever

Galaxy Note VS Galaxy S3

Hey everyone,
I was wondering which phone you think I should get. I currently have the HTC EVO 3D but I think I want to try out Samsung for at least a year. I have pretty big hands, so the Note wouldn't be too big for me. Should I wait for Sprint's Galaxy Note, or Sprint's Galaxy S3? Thanks!

Saw the video. It's pretty good, but doesn't the Galaxy Note already have Ice Cream Sandwich?

ICS on note is officially released only in certain parts of the world, India & Germany were the first ones to get em other countries should follow soon.
I am a note owner but will be migrating to the S3, Note's great but is already an older gen phone with the quad cores coming in.
If I were you I would get either an S3 or wait for the Note 2.
PS: Will receive my S3 on the 30th and post the comparisons/impressions.
The Note will get ICS worldwide at some point or another so personally I wouldn't take that too much into account.
It boils down to screen size plus s-pen vs. quad core plus newer touchwiz. It depends if you value screen size or processing power more?

There are a few other things to it - the S3 is very likely to have higher audio quality, it also has BT 4.0 and Apt-X, full exFAT support, options for higher interal storage, better USB OTG support, slightly better camera quality and usability, and as you say better processor and GPU. Depends on a few things which will matter to some and not others.
I have a Note and will be doing lots of comparisons at http://www.AndroidNZ.net
I had the note. It is the exact same copy of the att samsung skyrocket but with a bigger screen. I wasnt impressed, its specs are outdated.
Now that ICS is out for the Note its a tough choice......Already have ICS and its a LOT faster than GB on the Note. I like using the pen as well.
For bench markers and spec buyers the S3 has a lot more to offer on paper. In reality though, for me, the DAC is the only thing I KNOW I will definitively realize the difference and not so much until SuperCurio does his magic..The only reason I would like to try an S3 is to get the Wolfson DAC and Voodoo sound back. Otherwise the screen size and the pen make the Note still viable for me.
Everything else is fine on the Note and specs are at the point where they can be measured better but not always realized in actual everyday use.
The point of diminishing returns has arrived. I have never used my OTG USB attachment or the HDMI attachments. I have 16GB plus 64GB storage and never was limited by the 2 GB limitation. 2GB is a HUGE single file. So look at ALL the capabilities and decide what is important to you as far as what you will actually NEED
Your decision based on those parameters will be easy...... I would keep the Note myself and wait a few months to see if Samsung rumors reveal a Note II with S3 specs.
i was one of the people who moved from Note to S3, i still have my note though... my personal notes after 5 days of s3 use:
1. Note Screen is still Bigger, better for reading larger texts although at the same S3 Screen shows better Colors and more CRISP font and i enjoy it actually.
2. Note PEN is unbeatable in all ways... i miss it. it did not work on s3, a special s3 pen is required it seems and it maybe coming soon.
3. S3 performasnce is way better than note... it is noticable in every aspect. Samsung i beleieve have worked well on the software in overall This Time.
4. i did not notice any battery drain on s3 at all, it lasts even more than NOTE which is bigger battery. knowing i am using 3G or WIFI always on, one of them always on. i have tried all GB and ICS Roms on NOTE.
5. S3 lacks MASS STORAGE! it uses only MTP option.
6. S3 is great for portability, Large screen and Lightweight at the same time.
7. those who think S3 design is not good, you have to hold it in your hand, for me i see it very nice ...
8. S3 does not include Polaris office full version or even Photo Editor that comes with note!
9. for now i will keep Using S3, i love it now but maybe if the nostalgia hits, i will use the note also
This is what i think of now...
I bought my note on 20th March 2012, and sold it on 19th May 2012, I will be buying GSIII, it will be launching here on 31st.
The reason I sold note was the size of it it is too big for me, but the screen size is really nice for browsing and watching videos, I think SIII wont be far behind Note but much more pocket-able, and easy to use, at least for me.
Galaxy S3 if you ask me.
i just bought my note 3 weeks ago now i'm buying the SIII ill keep both then sell one of them after few months
Note, if you need the pen. And of course, because of its size, the Note is also a great hand fan
hmmmm it sounds like the galaxy s3 is the phone to get. although I think I'll just get whatever comes first to sprint.

Asking out of curiosity, how will you use two phones ?
Alternate days ? Or switch weekly ? Or use both all the time with two seperate Sims ?
I've a sgs2. I want to move to sgs3 because of superior screen and good audio quality. But I don't want to sell my sgs2.
Can't figure out how I'll use both ?

i actually don't use both at the same time. i am using s3 now 99% of the time.
i just cant let it down, i.e. the note ... it was perfect during the previous 6 months... so i may end up playing with it from time to time at home without sim...

Well, the S Pen on the Galaxy Note is actually an inductive stylus. The phone itself has the wacom digitizer built-in, that's why it is said to be for the niche market; and not so for the S III. So, only the capacitive stylus is compatible with the S III.

I think that 4.8" screen is enugh for browsing, gaminig...
In my opinion Note is too big for use with one hand.
I had an AT&T Note for almost a month, but in anticipation for the S3 I returned it. The main reasons I wanted the S3 over the Note:
- Battery: I wasn't happy with the longevity of the Note's battery. I didn't want to have to baby it (constantly monitor RAM/Programs) to get adequate usage out of it. The battery wasn't horrible by any means, but having that big beautiful screen didn't mean as much if you couldn't get enough time out of it on a full charge. (btw I kept everything stock so my exp with the battery pertains to that)
- Size: I tried my best to get used to the large size of the Note, but found that it was just a tad too big for me in the end. The one-handed use of it just wasn't practical for me, even though I did adapt to the size somewhat. Having a hybrid phone/tab was great, but I found that I missed the ease of a smaller device when multi-tasking with my other hand.
Those two factors were what really pushed me towards the S3. I felt the 4.8" would be a perfect match for size/practical use. And the battery sounds like it's definitely a winner too.

Looks like I'm going to keep my Mega (Note 3 related)

Although I've only had my Mega 6.3 for 8 days, I've gotten used to the large screen. Now that the Note 3 has been anounced, it's got a 5.7 screen and I think that's too small. Once you go large, you can never go back...
I love the features and the horsepower of the Note 3, but the design... it looks like the Note 1 again. Bigger rounder corners like the Mega are better for comfort in your pocket in your jeans. i think i have to hold it and try be4 i buy this one.
Yes me too mega is the beast... disappoint of note3 size
i9205 Tmobile USA
Same here. Although I am still kind of on the fence.
I'm picking up a 16gb mega right now. I'm back lol.
I didn't like the note 3 design, I was hoping for a large 6 inch screen. Acer s2 liquid also looks good.
When I had the original Note I didn't feel attracted to the Note 2 because the difference in screen size wasn't big and it was actually lower resolution. It felt like a downgrade and anything smaller felt lacking even if they had better CPU/GPU. That changed when I saw the Mega and now I can't get excited for phones having a smaller screen. The things that I was hoping for that might interest me with the Note 3 was a bigger screen in the same pocketable size as the Mega, optical stabilisation, and 64gb/128gb standard internal memory. Those never happened so I'm much better off waiting for the Mega 2.

You took the words out of my mouth. The megas screen spoiled me.
I think the Mega screen spoiled all of us. I just can't see going to a smaller screen.
This may sound like sour grapes but it's not. IMO, the 3 has way too much stuff. I mean, if it gets unlocked and rooted and people install a custom ROM such as 10.2, then most of the stuff is not going to work anyway.
I came from the org Note and rooted and installed a ROM the first day I had it.....never used the spen as it was intended.
I've had my 6.3 for a little over a week and I'm still finding things on it. I just found the task manager two day ago.
So, my vote would be no on the Note 3. I'm very happy with the Mega and will be even happier when it gets rooted.

What you said about the CM rom disabling the features of the Note is actually a really good point.
True the screen resolution of the Mega isn't the highest but it sure looks good anyway!
So yeah, agreed too, will pass on the Note 3 ^^
Only downside of Mega is that it's such a niche product that I'm afraid that the developpement will be slow
I'm still hedging between the Mega and the Note 3.
I really want a powerful device with the latest specs, but the Mega's screen real estate keeps tugging on my heart.
I guess i'll wait until the Note 3 is actually in stores so I can play with it myself. That's the only way I'll be able to make a good decision. I am excited about all of the features. The enhancements to Multiview look pretty nice.
As an aside, I hope they do another Dropbox promotion soon. I need more space.

I agree. High end devices tend to be more of a numbers race to beat the competition while the mid range is more value for money. With the Note 3 you will be paying for specs and features you will never use or don't need. If most people think like us in this thread then I'm confident more people will buy the Mega. It only had 2 months in the market and just available in the US so it's still early days. With the price getting lower after the release of high end phones (the Mega is now just £316 on Amazon) it will be a hit this Christmas.
This is somehow a re-post of mine from another thread but I think it applies perfectly to this thread too.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been holding on and skipping devices that really appealing to me(LG Pro, Oppo, Sony Xperia Z, etc) for the Note 3.
I was going to order the Xperia Z Ultra but thankfully I convinced my self otherwise. I'm not playing many games now days nor using it heavily.
Mostly for above average media consumption, light gaming, browsing.
Also as I said I was waiting for the Note 3 since the day Note 2 was announced since I decided to skip a generation.
And thankfully I decided to skip the Note 3 for the Mega. I really wanna go even bigger this time. I don't mind the mid-range performance.
And since my original Note with Asylum 4.3 now feels so incredible(it felt good with custom JB 4.1.2 too), I can only imagine the Mega will blow my mind.
I got the Note 1 at launch and I paid for it quite dearly for it back then.
And today I got my Samsung MEGA(i9200). HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! I'm really in love with this devices. The size, the screen, its sound are just... amazing!
I can't even remotely explain how I feel about it. This IS really the device that ever wanted.
I'm using it for a couple hours now and I can tell you I wouldn't even think about trading it for a Note 3(for free yes as I could sell the Note3 and buy another Mega )
This is really my preferred size of a phone. But I can go down to 6" too if the N4 is released next year and its 5,9-6,0". The best device so far I ever owned.
I also stated that I can go up to 6" when I got my Note in previous post of mine. So I was kinda always wanted a phone this big,
Watched a few trailers, videos clip, youtube videos, listen to many songs. I can say the experience was amazing. I haven't played any games yet tho.
This phone is big. You cannot really how humongous it's unless you light up the screen. The you can understand how huge it is. But it doesn't feel THAT bigger than my Note tbh.
I think that sums things up for me. I haven't felt this excited for a phone since 21 months ago when I got my original Note. Really happy owner here.
I'm torn between this and the Note 3. I don't really use the phone for more than playing games, talking, texting and facebooking. Oh and a music player. I'll watch a movie when I can. I have the Note 1 and I'm cool with the display whatever it is. The only reason I'm getting something different is because my Note 1 is about to bite the dust. Does it sound like the Mega is good for me? The only reason I got the Note in the first place was because of the size if that helps at all. I use my S-Pen to draw on pictures every blue moon.

I believe the Mega would serve you well. It is truly a great device that performs exellent. You don't have to waste money on the extra features on the Note III if you don't need them. I have had both the Note, Note II and now I am enjoying the Mega :good:

Quick question. Is the screen the same as the Note? I guess the density or whatever the hell it's called? Oh and is it the same speed or faster? Does it have MultiWindow? That's about the only thing that I want from my Note.

No resolution is slightly less due to ratio change
The original was 1200×800 this is 720 i think but could be wrong however its a brighter more natural screen as opposes to the note 1 which was a poor amoled. The note 3 is obviously a 1080p
Yes multiwindow is ther as is airview
Much faster than note 1 way slowe than note 3

The mega screen is better than note 1 and 2 imo. I think the crispness of the LCD panel puts it over the edge.
Benchmarks wise, the Note 3 will beat the Mega but actual every day performance will not be that different specially if you do some tweaks (replace Touchwiz, disable unused features, set animation to 0.5 or 0, etc).

[Q] Galaxy Tab S 10.5" WiFi or Nexus 9 WiFi?

Hi, I live in Mexico and Im about to buy a tablet this black friday for school. But I also play some games like Asphalt, Clash of Clans and Dead Trigger 2.
I know that the Nexus 9 has issues with the display and applications not being optimized, on the other hand if I buy the tab Ill get a beautiful display and better optimization for apps but crappy internals, I have a Nexus 5 and my past phone was a Nexus 4, I can survive Samsung's lack of updates since I'll get to try them right away from my Nexus 5. Is the Nexus 9 really worth it? I need it for school and it'll be my first tablet.
I know this is a bit silly to ask in the Nexus 9 section but hey, if it wasnt worth paying the price Im sure you guys will let me know Thanks in advance!
PS: Right now the Tab S is around 380 USD in Amazon and Nexus 9 420 for the 32 GB version.
Give me your opinion on which one should I buy or which one would you buy if you could decide again between Tab and Nexus! Thanks again!
Sorry about my English, it isnt my native language
The Nexus will serve you well for the coming year.
Productivity related activities, the N9 with its 4:3 screen will be better especially for your work.
Like you said, the Tab S has a Super Amoled screen which makes videos and colours very very pretty.
But for your work, N9.
Not to mention since the N9 and Tab are about the same price, why not get the one with better internals.
I had the samsung galaxy tab s and was not satisfied with it. Touch wiz blew the whole experience to hell, it was like having an really old tablet with wonderful display.
If you watch a lot of media then probably 16:9 (samsung) is preferrable but 4:3 (nexus) is more comfortable when browsing the web.
Touchwiz is terrible, which means that you'll be forced to ROM it and void the warranty.
Internals are outdated compared to the N9. Despite it being an 'octa-core' it's still slower in multi-core benchmarks than the dual core K1 in the N9.
^also s tab is older chipset is older and the s tab runs a higher resolution
Tab S would be great if it wasn't for the Exynos chipset and Touchwiz. I'm also not a fan of capacitive buttons, especially on a tablet with fairly small bezels as they will be accidentally activated.

Samsung S9 or S9+?

Hello,
I am still considering whether to get the S9 or the S9+ .
I know the differences between them based on the spec.
I am okay with the S9 screen size , and do know regarding the difference in the battery capacity.
Is there any other difference that make S9+ the better phone?
Will I miss a lot of things by not having the dual lenses camera?
4GB vs 6GB make any noticeable difference?
Hope to get some feedback to help me make the pre order
Thank you
S9+ obviously lol.

Well....
Dual Camera with Dual OIS / Wide-angle: Super Speed Dual Pixel 12MP AF sensor (F1.5/F2.4), Telephoto: 12MP AF sensor (F2.4)
Better Picts
Memory: 6GB RAM
Faster Phone running multiple apps (should never Lag like 4gb)
Battery: 3,500mAh (500 more mah)
Longer Battery Life
Obvious higher resale when the next hot device comes out..
My Choice for sure I'm already cutting Loose N8.
My big question is if the Unlocked US version is Built to Utilize 600mhz and 4x4 mimo qam..That's what I need to know because I would definitely prefer an Unbranded device because the have higher resale value and of course the crapware Tmo adds to the device. I wish they would allow you/give you the option to turn off the Super annoying Tmo start screen and (Freaking Jingle) telling the World im on T-mobile...aggravating from my perspective.

I see friends with the S8 and think it looks so small compared to my S8+. Definitely getting the +. But, if you have small hands like my petite female friend, the normal size means a bit more sense.
Anyway how much of a photo enthusiast are you with your phone? I can't wait to have some telefoto action myself.
S9+ of course
The S9+ will definitely keep more background apps open. Twice the internal storage. Better battery life.

I have the same question, but even when the battery is bigger in the Plus variant, the screen also is, so I don't know if actually it makes a difference in terms of battery life. I like devices with big batteries, and I always avoid batteries below ~3500mAh.
I'm running an HTC U11+ right now and I'm really comfortable with the screen and the size, and before that I had a Pixel 2 XL, and this will be my first Samsung ever because they finally fixed some things that bothered me from past generation.
I don't care much about dual camera, I'm sure I will have enough with one because I'm kind of amateur, but still size is kind of a bummer; taking in mind are the same size as S8/S8+ and I have seen them in store many times, the normal version for me feels small, but the Plus version is a little bit too large for my taste. So I'm kind of confused.

Keep in mind that the 9 is almost the same size as the 8. You can always try it in store.
But as everyone else already said, the 9+ has more features, so more resale value.
I had an 8+ and IMO the price difference is well worth it even more now that you get more than just a larger screen.
Personally, I'm going with the + again.
s9+ sure
:good:
S9+ is the right choice.
I don't know. Specs aside, and understanding xda is a geeky site compared to mainstream, I might go with the S9 for pocket ability. I don't see the specs being much different really. I have an S8 and if I play with the S8+ at first I think too big then as I get used to it and pick up the S8 I think too small until I get used to it and repeat. You can easily get used to either. Before the S8 my phones tended to be the plus sizes and I now find the S8 to be a good size to both pocket and to type on. Really though I don't think you can go wrong either way.
s9+ on pre-order from samsung direct-will be delivered 1 week today. bit annoyed that they have not included any freebies
Definitely S9+. The camera is better S9+ compared to S9.
having the S8, i can't justify buying the S9, however since i always buy the new S, i went for the S9+ with more RAM, better camera and bigger battery tahts how i can justify the "upgrade"
Pre-ordered from Sammy the unlocked S9+ for a total of 587.24. Hopefully they will send us a freebie (those of us who preordered).
from S8 to S9+.......!!!!!
I tried the both device and for me, the choice is clear: s9!
I precise that for me the photo is the aspect that's the most important... but the s9+ is really really tooooooooooooo big... I found it ridiculous and hard to held.
I'm not a fan of the note versions though.
For the 4gb - 6 gb = nope, it's not visible! NO app use this amount of ram and even if you have plenty app opened it's really hard to tell the difference on a phone. When u let app open, usually u let 9 apps max and for that u never need more than 2,5 gb of ram perhaps 3...
For the battery, it's proved the difference is not that much (30 min 1 hour?)
For the tele, yeah, it's gimmick. You have a 2x zoom option (with less luminosity)... and that's all, nothing else. For that difference, I make one step before me with the normal module and I have the same result (really I tested earlier and the 2x zoom = 1 step)

its like you read my mind!!!! Exactly the same thought, the s9 was useless and not worth it.
I'm on T-Mobile's Jump on Demand. S9+ requires a $120 down payment. S9 doesn't. Seeing as I swap phones ever month or two it didn't make sense for me to throw $120 away. If they would have rolled the down payment into the monthly price I would have done s9+. That's what they did with the Note 8, V30, and iphone X. A little upset they didn't do that with the S9 series. So I went with the smaller s9 just do to that one reason.
