Notification "Dot" kill module - Xiaomi Poco F1 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Discontinued due to xda policies.
DOT KILLER MODULE for pocof1 (may work on other devices)
By @Jaiii
What it does?
It makes device behave as a notchless phone,
So you won't get to see the dot (on both right and left) sometimes dot appears even when we have some space left, so this module will fix it.
Extra Icons will obviously be hidden under notch (extra notif icons will be visible in screenshots)
There are several similar modules already.
But this works with all roms I tested till now, also works perfectly with and without dual status bar and no issues with landscape.
Tested on both Android 10 and 11
Please report any issue in this thread, it'll be sent to the dev team. (As xda policies dont allow to give telegram link).
How to use?
You can flash zip in twrp or you can use magisk module.
Note: After flashing, to enable dotkill go to developers options (or display settings in some roms) and find display cutout and set it as hide.
:good:
Here is the download link

Much needed thanks!!

Where is the link?

[] AL's [] CM7 Tweaks and Mods List Roundup

Yo all,
If you did not follow all of my off-topic posts on the cm7 thread lately, here's my little x-mas present for you...
I've been asked a couple times if I could regroup all of the cm7 tweaks and mods in one spot so here it is!
It's no an exhaustive list as it mainly covers the stuff from the last 2-3 months; I did what I could on this with the limited time I had for this today.., but I think it's a good start and that it should keep you guys busy for a while anyway. I also did this for my own personal recollection and for future quick reference and access.
Notes:
- I always do my best to give credits to whoever it is due, but if I forgot to do it anywhere, please let me know and I'll do the correction.
- Please play it safe and before you try any of this, make (nand) backups, undo zips and remember that you do it at your own risk.
- As usual, please do not full-quote my long posts.
So here we go:
Tips on how to Remove Ads from apk
How to disable Search button tweak
1- Faster screen orientation rotation tweak AND 2- ZipAlign at boot (zip included)
How to enable lockscreen rotation tweak
Battery fix for red lenses Defy - [for Defy+ build installs] (zip included)
My thread on How to Make Your Phone a Little Safer - The Easy Way [using hosts file]
My mod on how to increase the attachment size limit of default cm7 Email.apk
App suggestion: an alternative task switcher (in notification panel)
...I'm working on this but app has problems so READ THE NOTES CAREFULLY
How to use (some) of the JB screen transition animations to cm7
How to use the ICS style date/time/day layout in notification panel on cm7(and remove date from statusbar when its expanded)
And one post above, the OP of my own (WizAL) cm7 theme thread
Note on recompiling the phone apk [this one is basically a reminder for myself]
My Cm7's Phone.apk mod for bigger contact picture (zip attached) AND
Mms.apk with 7-line max compose window size + no smiley key on KB (zip att.)
My thread on tips and tricks regarding PDroid (increased your private info security)
Cm7's Mms.apk with bigger/better quality mms pic attachments (zip attached) AND an
alternative Mms.apk with same tweak (zip attached also) [credits to llamatron]
2 must-have apps suggestion to increase privacy/security on your phone
How to use a custom script in order to get Droidwall to work while using DroidVPN (read post#2)
How to get my favorite text font
OK well, that was basically what I could put together from the latest 1/5th of all my posts here on xda...
For sure there are some missing and I also have a few new ones and writeups in mind; so we'll see what future holds in this regards.
But if you want more, you can start by reading through my threads; this one for example has quite a few tweaks and apks included. And on post #2, there's a guide on how to make the statusbar transparent [although still on my todo list is to add to it a guide on properly create/modify patch-9 pngs - coz I still see quite a few people having problems with that ]
* * * MOST IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE END: * * *
Some of the old (pre-September 2012) flashable zips I've posted might, or rather, will no longer work on recent cm7 builds. So PLEASE READ THIS and find out how to correct/redo them to work properly:
My thread on how to make CWM recovery flashable zips
Sorry, but I will not go through 900+ posts and redo all my zips... at least not now.
So let's all rejoice that we've survived 2012 doomsday, I wish a merry x-mas and happy holidays season to all of you.
Cheers,
/AL

[Jan 12, 2013] 1- I've themed the stock cm7 keyboard and gave a flashable zip for it here 2- as suggested by bhupatib here, I've commented about this 3rd-party keyboard [that can be tweaked like no other] here ..and I gave 2 themed kb versions of my WizAL theme there also.
[Jan 19,2013] I've just edited the Droidwall tweak with a custom script to get it working on 3G networks as well...
. . . to be continued
Great list, mate! Thank you A LOT for making it!
Happy holidays and all the best to you, too!

But why the use of imperative tense? Yo no boss of me!!!
Also, you took the time and effort of posting this comment; what is it to also click the "Thanks" button while in here...
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy them.

And it would be nice if people you be a little more pro-active and suggest the tweaks they use...then, I could update the OP....

Thanks again!
This is/was another very easy tweak to do.... well... I mean, I still had to experiment a lot in order to get it right...
And even though it is not perfect either: since I did this very simply, [i.e. did not redo the app layout appart from contact pic size] the call status on the right side [what replaces the call duration timer] might get truncated in some occasions. So for example, you might see: "on ho" D) or something similar when placing the call on hold... No biggy for me since my theme has a coloured statusbar icon for that and even custom dialer background color for it... but I just wanted to tell people..
I'm sure that you know how to find out what I did, but for other members; all there was to do for this is:
In the Phone.apk's res\layout\call_card_person.xml
Change this:
Code:
<RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="172.0dip">
<ImageView android:id="@id/photo" android:background="@drawable/incall_photo_border_lg" android:layout_width="172.0dip" android:layout_height="166.0dip" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:contentDescription="@string/contactPhoto" />
To:
Code:
<RelativeLayout android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="[COLOR="Red"]248[/COLOR].0dip">
<ImageView android:id="@id/photo" android:background="@drawable/incall_photo_border_lg" android:layout_width="[COLOR="red"]248.0[/COLOR]dip" android:layout_height="[COLOR="red"]240.0[/COLOR]dip" android:layout_centerHorizontal="true" android:contentDescription="@string/contactPhoto" />
Note that anything bigger and you'll have more layout overlaps and it gets uggly
And you probably know the also excellent software Winmerge useful to compare two files or even two folders...
And as I'm sure you are aware that, Google Sync limits the size of contacts pictures to 96x96px on Gingerbread; so anything too big will look pixelated. Personally, I do not sync my contact pics with Google, so bigger size in the dialer looks fine [as long as my original contact pics are of a reasonable size].
OK well, enough on this tweak.
Cheers.
Just added a link to this (Pendo's Transparent Market + no update mod, very nice inverted calendar, ..) on the OP

I could but doing it for you would not help you learn anything... And I already gave a hand, an arm and a leg writing a detailed guide about it... Have you read/tried any of it? Please read the first post again, find where I gave a link related to your question and read some more.. If you have problems then, at least try to figure out which file from YOUR phone has to be modded and post it on THAT thread.
Thanks for your understanding...
Try to see it from my side...: it seems that the more I give, the more people ask to be spoon fed...
;
Please do your part first and experiment; you'll be glad you did once you succeed. Just nand backup first...
Added an update for Droidwall to work properly on 3G networks (bottom of OP).
...and a couple others ine earlier which I did not feel the need to post about again...
But the Droidwall one might be very usefull to some...
Enjoy!

FYI: YouTube Full Screen and Blocked View Fix

Those of us who have had our TrueSmart have learned that while this thing is crazy cool, there are a few quirks that need to be worked out.
For example, the YouTube app's Full Screen. The TrueSmart has a square, not rectangle wide screen, so the Full Screen wouldn't be quite full.
With the Xposed Framework Installed, you can install a Mod called "App Settings" and find the YouTube app, then you can make DPI (resolution) changes and click "Force Orientation > Portrait Mode". Now when using YouTube, expanding to full screen will allow for a more 'dedicated viewing experience'.
There are some apps (found in the Play Store) that you can't access without accepting the ToS (Terms of Service), and the "accept" and "decline" buttons are below the screen. In this case, you'd need to change the DPI, and possibly more settings. I even also had the same SuperSU issues that quite a lot of us had: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2656146 There are quite a few ways to fix the spillage.
Also, simply because I feel like saying something, why don't we have subsections for General, Q&A, Accessories, Development and such? meh :/

Thanks. If you want to make you post a [Guide] I'll add it to the Everything sticky.
Except for the rotation issue, qemu.sf.lcd_density=115 added to the build.prop also resolves the "fit" issue on almost every app as well and is the reason why I'm adding it back to the patch for all x201s.

I'll consider turning it into a guide. Friendly tip: It may have been a mistake but please try not to quote the entire long post, it takes up extra unneeded room, a @deedscreen mention in reply or partial quote works just fine. It can make things a bit hectic. (Ex: you have a long development thread and someone quotes the long post to say "this is cool".) Nevertheless, the guide is a good idea - now if we can only figure out how to get the status bar to always show when using -say- Nova launcher. My attempts haven't gone the greatest so far. :cyclops:
Hi Loki
Don't you just love when guys learns developers how to quote OP...

It was before my first cup of coffee so blame it on the lack of caffeine.
The solution I've been using is Swipe Statusbar. It's not ideal but does free up the space a consistent status bar would use. A permanent status bar fix is going to most likely require the framework and related files be gone through and redone as they use a show intent versus a hide intent from what I've been told.
I do use my ppi edit and Force Orientation on my daily device. Hopefully I can make the need for the orientation lock unnecessary and have it active at all times for all apps. That would cover the majority of users and apps used and can't remember the last time I wanted an app to rotate on the x201.
I know what you mean, with that app I've tried and it covers some areas of apps and drives me insane, I can't quite win...

[APP][4.0.3+ & GB][XPOSED] HowTouchAlert

Touch outside of alert to dismiss it.
Some (older) devices have not enabled to dismiss an (cancellable) AlertDialog by touching outside of it. This module enables it!
This app has no user interface. Enable it in Xposed - reboot - done.
IMPORTANT
Xposed needs root access for installation
Website: http://tinyurl.com/nq32zze
Play Store: http://tinyurl.com/nawzbuu
Xposed Repository: http://tinyurl.com/qelp3wy
APK download: http://tinyurl.com/mzert7f
Why this app? To lazy to search for back button all the time!
It took me a while to understand what this mod is about. You should provide an example of a non cancleable AlertDialog (I can't think of one on a system level, only in apps). Plus I don't understand the title "HowTouchAlert". What does that mean?
EDIT: Care to provide your source code?
If an AlertDIalog is cancellable or not decides the developer of the app which created the dialog. Some have a yes/no and dont allow the back button (=.setCancelable(false)), I use most time only "yes" and back for negative.
Most of the used dialogs are cancellable
Source: hook AlertDialog and set dialog.setCanceledOnTouchOutside(dialog.isCancelable())
EDIT: Maybe the probem is the word "AlertDialog"? This are all these dialog popups asking "want you really ... ?" Just do a internet search for pictures
Lol I know what it is. It's just that the majority of xda users are not into coding so they'll think you are talking about an alert dialog as in alarm clock dialog. Anyways, I just wanted to point out that the title and description is misleading if you don't know what an alert dialog is plus most people don't use modules if they are not open source (including me). Just my two cents...

I created this module because the behaviour of Androd was not as i expected it - I did it not because I want as many people should use it, win a design contest etc. I published it so the one who need it could use it.
You wrote most users are useres, not developers. So what they do excatly with source code?
Some people are even using cracked versions, and complaining on XDA about errors caused by unexperienced crackers!
Maybe I should add a FAQ to all modules:
- The used colors red+blue are ugly: I like it and I'm a developer not a designer
- The used icon is ugly: Make a better one and send it me. If I like it, I will add it
- I dont use apps which are 100% free: Dont use it and invest your time to learn developing
- I dont use apps which are closed source: Send me how much the source is worth for you
- I will give you a 1 star rating at Play Store: I dont read the ratings, have fun

Wow that was a very good read. Am I on your blacklist, too? I'm actually curious about the icon because XDA Premium didn't load it unfortunately. Can you repost it?

My apologies for the flaming, you're a good developer, quick to respond to my emails when had problems. Please keep up the good work

in the grid.
Works for both free Grindr and GrindrXtra.

Are you the same guy who made the old grindrmod?
How this work?
It's good like "old" version?
So far works great, thanks! Is there anything new we should be aware of coming from the other version?
A couple of things :
- I do notice that not all profiles with chats have the orange border.
- would it be possible to add swipe across screens (I think previous version of app or mod had this)?
Thanks and great job!
Everytime it's opened, it can't get a location as 'I have no Internet connection' apparently, when obviously I have.

The mod introduced that far before the app did. One might argue that they took it and monetized it from @GrindrGuy. Does this mean that if the app starts mimicking other features introduced by the mod to monetize from them that the mod will just start taking them away? Nah, I'm against this move... You and GrindrGuy ultimately decide, but I wanted to share my two cents.

If you want to get "super technical" about it, this feature was introduced years ago in the original app but taken away around v3.0.
EDIT: Since I do not have Grindr Xtra, if someone would like to actually send me screenshots of what this feature looks like, I may be able to re-work it so that the module provides a similar feature that is not a direct replica of the paid feature.
I found a bug.

Oh, wow - didn't know that! Here I thought @GrindrGuy was the genius behind it!
Don't have Xtra, but something to bring back that function making it different enough might be to have a little circle with counter in it: currently app gives you a yellow circle with the number of new messages. You could play with that idea: just a yellow dot if there are viewed messages, or include the number (?).
Along the same lines, I have a suggestion: In my area you often get a few users who don't upload a photo and you just see the generic black profile pic with no user name. Would there be any harm / Would it be possible to give those profiles a random name (user1123) so as to know which user is which?
I'm still used to swiping left/right to switch between profiles and inbox. It's annoying you actually have to tap on those now. Dunno if you can revert that behavior.
Say you're chatting with someone and you want to go back to "nearby" view. you have to go back and then tap on "nearby". It might be interesting to have that navigation bar with nearby/inbox/favs persistant throughout the app, with it autohiding and showing back up when you scroll down. This way there's an easy way to always go back to home, and we also always see if there's a new message notification.
Another suggestion I had way back when was to further customize this navbar: for example, I'd love to order it to have first favs, then nearby, then inbox, and being able to swipe between the views. At this point it might also be nice to have the option of having the navbar either on the (new) bottom or (old) top.
Sorry for the long post! Thanks for your efforts, and it's also fun to think about UI design like this!

That's actually how the GrindrMod feature used to work, by "hijacking" the unread messages count to always display the yellow border regardless of whether the messages were unread or not.

I'd rather not alter the UI to that extent since there may be some underlying reason for them changing it in the first place (one person suggested that the toolbar was moved to the bottom in order to encourage accidental clicks on the banner ads).

Looks like the app attachment was removed from this thread? I'm running 3.24.x or something just so Grindrmod will work. I'm being told when I open Grindr that I can only use that version for two more days until it is mandatory that I update to the latest version. At which point grindrmod will not work.
So, I'm looking forward to an update =_=

Thanks! I didn't know it was a whole new app there. The links to it seem dead in the xda app with the xposed modules.
@GrindrGuyNYC, is it possible to amend the photo viewer activity (when tapping on a profile picture) to always show the Android soft-keys? Every time I tap on a profile photo to open it, I have to swipe up to show the soft-keys to go back. Starts getting annoying really fast. Thanks.
PS. GrindrMod isn't listed on Xposed module library when I check in Xposed Installer (I use the one by DVDAndroid). I had to go to the repo online to download and install manually.

I see it just fine in the official Xposed Installer.
@GrindrGuyNYC I'm on oreo 8.1 with systemless xposed.
The module won't show in notification bar even if I choose show always.
Another bug (on nougat too, with "standard" xposed) is if I swipe or open a new profile module ask me to undo last refresh.

Is there a way to utilize the fullscreen and cutout area?

On some apps (e.g. Temple Run) there's a black bar at the top and even in landscape mode some Google apps have the black bar aswell and it's super fustrating to have a screen like this and having a black bar on it. On other phones (e.g. Samsung) there is an option called "full screen apps" which where you can force your phone to open apps in full screen and it works just fine.
Is there a way to solve this problem? With root or some mod? Help me please!
By the way. Is Google aware of this problem? Because it seems so dumb..
Same here, immersive doesn't work..

It would appear to be the way Android 11 is desiogned/coded to operate. Individual apps need to explicitly include the A9+ code to access the area within the notch region. I have some apps that can use the area (quick pick gallery app), but most cannot.
[RANT] Personally I thi9nk googl;e dropped the ball in the options of how to treat the notch region. Simply having an option to ignore the region and treat as if there is not camera cut-out would seem like an obvious option that should be available to the user. I have made the suggestion in the support option under settings in the hope enough other people complain to put it on the radar of google as something to fix [/RANT]

I'm sure I've seen a Magisk module to let you force old apps to ignore the notch...
No idea if it works on the pixel 4a though.
[MAGISK MODULE] Notch Killer! (Ignore and Fill)
NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE MODULE ON MAGISK MANAGER CALLED "NotchBarKiller". I AM NOT THE MAKER OF THAT MODULE. THIS IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. NOTE 2: THIS ONLY WORKS ON ANDROID PIE, NOTHING BELOW.. Alt download if main one doesn't work...
