Need Hydrogen 10.0.11.HD01 (Chinese) - OnePlus 7T Pro (Regular & McLaren) Q & A

Downloading through the website doesn't work, because I recently updated my firmware through OTA and I bought my OP 7T Pro in Shanghai. I am trying to root my device by using this tutorial:
watch?v=VGjYuvoBpPA <-- YouTube URL
However, I am not sure if this is the only way or if there are better ways of rooter OP 7T Pro devices without needing the payload data as described in the YouTube video. Any help is appreciated!

You basically have 3 choices to acquire the boot.img:
1. Payload Dumper
2. TWRP and adb
3. Download the stock boot.img for your version of Hydrogen OS (if it exists)
There are "auto root" tools out there, but not sure how they are. I personally used #2, but payload Dumper works quite well too.

Pretty sure the auto root tool on here works on any version of ROMs. But keep in mind that when you wanna perform a OTA update after root using the restore image method, the auto tool backed up the extracted stock boot image on our pc rather than letting Magisk does its normal job and store in our phone the way Magisk wants. What I mean is that we essentially lose root first and need to re-run the auto tool after each OTA update. I'm just lazy to get perform the normal methods, so I just double click on that auto tool each time and let it does its job each time I lose root after each OTA update. I remember it actually worked flawlessly and let Magisk back up the stock boot image at first, but then after some OTAs later when I messed up and reset factory settings in recovery and had to re-root my phone using the tool, magisk acts weird and stopped storing a back up boot image in the phone.

I did eventually unbrick my device, because for some reason I ended up not being able to call anymore. When unbricking, I installed the EU version and everything seems to be working fine now. However, I regret for not backing up the root data; because the Chinese version has Oneplus Roaming option where you can use internet in any country without having the need for any sim card. Also, you can record any conversations without any third party apps needed, so it's unfortunate. I wish I could install the Chinese version again, because they really were a big help in the past.

'Morning all,
I would really appreciate some advice on a couple of things about my MATE 10 Standard.
I bought this phone online from an online shop in Manchester around April last year. I got the Mate 10 ALP-AL00 which was rebranded by the shop to ALP-L29. Its currently on 8.0.0.136(C636).
My aim is to unlock and root my device with Magisk and of course get TWRP working as well. From what I have read, there seems to be quite a high level of success but there are still things i'm not sure about. Huawei phones are a bit fragile, software wise and can easily brick. Plus, the fact that the phone itself is the Chinese variant, I don't expect any kind of help from Huawei Customer services if it does get bricked. Hence i'm being very cautious. (Past bad experience with a Honor 9 STF-AL10).
1. my phone is on ALP-L29 8.0.0.136(c636) 1 June security patch. Bootloader Version: Chipset-boston8.0.0.001(02M8)_FASTBOOT
I've refused all attempts to upgrade via OTA as I've read about the 01 and 02 bootloaders fiasco.
2. I've got an unlock code from DC-Unlocker, but I've not tried it yet. I never was able to get a code from Huawei's official site due to the fact that it was rebranded, which lead me to believe the online shop I bought it from used Funky to rebrand. (Apparently, FunkyH messes up something on the bootloader thus preventing unlocking with official unlockcode. AFIK). BUT, the info displayed by phone is exactly the same as what is on the box, imei 1&2, S/N, device Id code, etc...
Basically my questions are:
With the current firmware version I'm on, can I unlock my bootloader, install the unofficial TWRP then root with Magisk? AFIK its on xloader 01.
Is there anything to look out for when doing the above?
and, If I do a full backup immediately after installing TWRP, can this be used to recover the phone if it fails to boot up for any reason.?
I'm not really interested in being on the latest EMUI version etc, just wan't a phone with full root and an easy method to unbrick it.
thank you all,

You could just test the code in fastboot: fastboot oem unlock UNLOCKCODE
If the code is incorrect, for some reason, it will say Password incorrect. Else it will bring you to the yes/no unlock screen on phone. DCs unlock code should always work as it doesn't need the correct imei/imei2/sn/product combo when generating unlock code.
There's no real point in staying on xloader 01 anymore, every update (except a few unapproved firmware) after 02 started appearing has been 02.
Downside is that you can't downgrade, but you could replace fastboot in latest fw with the one from may/June and you'd have DC working again. But there's also service firmware available for free on androidhost.ru which can be used if phone should brick. There's also testpoint (only one person has tested this) which can be used to downgrade to any firmware (even xloader 02 to 01).
Before unlocking, backup everything as unlocking will wipe data.

U can check unlock code by dialing *#*#2846579#*#* and goto veneer informations>Verify key> Input boot unlock code. If it is correct it will show Success in toast notification.
Hi all,
Appologies for late reply as I've been lumbered with bored kids on their midterms plus a backlog of work.
I've verified the key I go from DC, and success it got verified OK.
Now to prepare and read through again all the important bits for TWRP nstallatuon and magisk.
Quick question, is there a way or method that is 100% foolproof to recover your device via unofficial TWRP.
Noobish questions, I know but please bear with me.
Thanks for your time and patience and best regards....

There are a few methods to recover your device from an eventual soft-brick, i wouldn't call them foolproof, not because are hard to follow/use, but only because it seem that no matter how easy a guid, a method or a tool is, there are still some people that fail to do it properly.
If your only goal is to install TWRP and Magisk, my advice is to read a bit on these forums and you shoul be fine.
Another advice, that people seem to ignore completely after they acquire root, is to backup your partitions. I recommend Partitions Backup (by Wanam) from Playstore. Backup all partitions beside system, vendor and userdata then transfer the backup on PC, Cloud, etc.
Good luck!

Thank you for taking the time to put me right.
I'll go back to your Unofficial TWRP post and go through it A to Z.
Hi all,
thanks for the all the help with my issues.
I've unlocked the bootloader and even got the unofficial TWRP working.
I've also backup my partitions and kept them on my PC and Cloud.
Now the problem I'm having is with Magisk. I can't seem to get it installed.
When I flashed it in TWRP I got an error that /system and /Vendor are not mounted. Mounted them manually and retried the instalation and it worked. When I check the APP, it shows as not installed.
I've tried magisk 16.0 and 17.1 both failed to install. Tried the one in the HWOTA zip and it failed too.
Anyone please advise...

Which device and build do you have? First uninstall Magisk with Magisk Uninstaller, by flashing it with TWRP. Then try again to install latest Magisk.
And btw, your partitions backup is not completely done, not untill you install Magisk and use that app, Partitions Backup!
Solved!
I ran the magisk_uninstall twice then ran the magisk.bat again.
Got 16.0 to work, now updated to 17.1 via the app and all is good.
worked like a CHARM.
full root & TWRP + Magisk 17.1 installed
Christmas has come early for me!
Now to way the pros and cons of updating to xloader2 (infact anything above B136)
Much respect to all and best regards.....

Well, you can't stay on xloader01 forever, at least not if you want to update your device.
The cons is that once on xloader02, you can't go back to xloader01.

You can use HWOTA8 or HuRUpdater! Beware that if you update to a firmware with patch 01, simply flashing Magisk won't work anymore and you will have to patch the stock ramdisk with Magisk Manage (keep encryption and preserve dm_verity must be enabled) , then flash the patched image with fastboot.

[Flash ROM.bat][Android 9] Flash Stock ROM of your MOTO G7 PLUS!!!

FOR MOTO G7 PLUS ONLY!!!
Hello, everyone.
I created a .bat file "executable " For those who want to flash the stock rom on your Moto G7 Plus.
Just put it in the stock Rom folder along with the fastboot files and run the file.
For those who want the file, just download it by the following link or download the file that is on the thread.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/q836uaerr17pn0f/Flash_ROM_G7%252B.zip/file
Could you share where to get the Stock ROM fein?
---------- Post added at 11:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 PM ----------
Tried the same sequence with a Stock ROM last week, but didn't achieve to get back to original ROM. I always get the prompt in the initial boot, that a different OS is installed than the original. This has the consequence that I cannot upgrade wit OTA anymore. And there is an upgrade already available (Jan security patch)
moto g7 G7........
any one have a flash rom.bat stock rom for moto g7.......
Which stock rom did you flash on your Moto g7 plus?

Didn't you just find it yesterday on the telegram group?
What was the problem that you asked again here today?
Latest Stock ROM RETAIL at that link is the one we have all been using.
You'll need to download it to a computer, unzip it in a folder with the fastboot/ADB files, then fastboot flash it with phone attached in bootloader mode.

I guess that the software channel was reteu.
A second moto g7 phone I bought - and is unmodified - says "software channel: reteu".
The information on the package of my phone says XT1965-3.
I flashed this image already, the result is a 'working' system except for the message at the start "Your device has loaded a different operating system." .

Yes, you said: except for the message at the start "Your device has loaded a different operating system."
After unlocking bootloader there is some message like this on starting device, keep in mind we all got these too and everything is fine but we like to cover it up with a different bootlogo, just looks better that is its only purpose. This message is because you also upgraded the firmware, meaning it's not really a different OS but only a different version of your correct OS.

For G7 Plus we are not getting the OTAs properly after unlocking or rooting, I was originally rooted on PPW29.98-28 and repeatedly got the notifications of upgrading to 29.98-66-2 but it kept failing, the only way to stop it was freezing the Moto Update Process using Titanium Backup. So my only remaining option to upgrade was to fastboot flash the full firmware, as you just did, it wipes your data but gets you to the same place.
With future updates we may be able to capture them and then a dev can make them into a TWRP flashable zip with no wiping of internal data. We had that on G5 Plus which was a nice thing and they are still doing that. But until that might happen the best we can do is the same for now - when your channel has an update just get it from lolinet (these are all official stock firmwares there) and fastboot flash after backing up your data.
Usually it is more from the rooting (if you did that too) that may mess up your banking or other apps, but in Magisk there are settings that may work on that, you'll just have to try and see but there are mixed results. My choice is to not use banking apps on my devices anyway even if not unlocked or rooted, I just do it from home on a computer that I won't forget and leave out in public somewhere. :crying:

So you expect that in future my phone will be OK again? And receive OTAs while having Magisk installed.
I tried indeed to Magisk my phone, as I did with my old OnePlus One.
Which leads to TWRP, but then I discovered that the recovery has disappeared on this Moto!?
Then I was lost, and read about A/B and treble(?).
Concerning the banking applications: Even if I handle the banking transactions on my Mac, I still need the banking app on my phone for authentication.
Which is also true for accessing my medical data (GP, hospitals, etc), insurance companies, taxes, etc.
Last question: Is there a full description of how to magisk my phone?

Sorry not to reply yet, I sometimes have other things going on besides my phone. Also I thought I gave you a good answer on the situation, based on what I know as just another user (not a dev, not with Moto).
Yes, there have been changes since your last phone, it was the same for me. So it's good to find out as much as possible before deciding to unlock & root again, because the results may not be like before. We used to unlock and flash TWRP directly but we can't do that now or maybe brick the phone. It is always the risk when choosing not to remain fully stock/locked/etc as when you bought it, and with that is a responsibility to do the research first and not just expect other users to tell you every step.
So I don't know if things will change, but for now we can't get OTAs anymore after unlocking. For me I didn't mind and I am willing to upgrade manually if that let's me work with the device the way I like with root & using custom ROMs etc. I didn't plan to ever go back to how I bought it and don't need banking apps or other types that rooting might mess up. For others that may not be the case so they must learn the situation then decide for themselves.
As for installing Magisk, now we have TWRP working enough to just put the Magisk zip on your SD card and install it in TWRP. Before we had a functional TWRP we had another method by installing Magisk Manager and using it to patch the boot.img then fastboot flash that, but it's not needed anymore since TWRP, just do it the old way now.
Flashing the roms from lolinet, in my case ( RETEU[/URL) is a complete reset of the phone, I assume.
To flash, these steps should be right:
Copying the firmware to sdcard.
Boot in TWRP
Flashing the lolinet firmware.
Delete Dalvik Cache.
Should TWRP and Magisk be reinstalled immedeately after this procedure? Or renew the developer mode, reinstall twrp and magisk?

It won't work to flash full firmware in TWRP, so far the only way is using fastboot with phone connected to a computer in bootloader (unlocked) mode. Unzip firmware into your fastboot/ADB folder and also the batch file available in this thread, then run the batch file.
Yes this will reset/wipe your phone (except for SD) so backup your data first, and it will be like when you first bought it. You can reinstall TWRP and then Magisk, but boot to system first and set things up including enabling USB debugging setting in developer options again.
I am going to try and update now as the notifications are much too annoying.

Remove the line
'fastboot erase userdata'
from the flashROM.bat file and it won't factory reset. It will act like an upgrade.

Can I use a different retail code than current stock? My phone is XT1965-2, PPW29.98-28, RETLA. The system reminders are all in Spanish. Could I update to PPW29.98-66, EEGB (UK English) without a problem?
Also, if this is possible, could I update by removing the 'fastboot erase userdata' line from the BAT file, or, due to the language change, would I need to leave that line and do a factory reset?

What's the best way to root the OnePlus 7T Pro right now?

I've found a few ways to root the OnePlus 7T Pro in the XDA forum and and wondering which method to go for. I got the phone today and haven't switched it on yet, so am expecting an OTA to be available to download, although I'll unlock the device first.
There's this by @mlgmxyysd which seems to be the newest way:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t-pro/how-to/magisk-auto-install-tool-magisk-t4001471
There's this by @HolyChickenGuy, which is older but it seems that you can definitely update Magisk and Magisk Manager this way:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/7t...-3-patched-boot-image-oneplus-7t-pro-t3986351
Only thing I'm not clear about with it is if I can OTA with it first or not but I can probably work that out depending on what software version mine is on, given the post says 10.0.3.
There's this by @ktp1976 which seems like @HolyChickenGuy 's guide but with further steps so possibly is redundant for me:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80591215&postcount=28
Finally this seems the easiest, by @ManikandanGuru, it's for the OnePlus 6 but I would think the principle is the same:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/patched-boot-image-magisk-16-7-beta-t3818853
I.e.,
Even easier way to root without TWRP:
1. Install OTA update (Don't reboot).
2. Open Magisk Manager, install Magisk and choose "Install to Inactive Slot (After OTA)" (Now reboot).
3. Now you are rooted without TWRP and without any boot img hassles as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations or advice please? Thank you. Once have root I'll heed the tutorial about preserving root when OTA'ing the phone, sorry I can't link to it because I'm a new member.
Doesn't matter, they all are the same and does the same thing, patching the boot image. (Except for the first one which does other things too)
The first one is for Xposed, if that's something you're not interested to when the holychicken guide.
The other one just explains how to obtain and create your own one, one you've done that you still need to to the steps holychicken guide.

REQ: Blackview BV9900 Pro Root/Recovery

I see that there's some activity previously for various Blackview phones, Is it too much to hope for that someone will be able to do something for this phone?
Hi, I own one Blackview BV9900 (no Pro) and managed to do some work on it. Pro version has pretty the same hardware, so it should work on it too:
- root works with no problems with Magisk (just download stock boot.img, update it with MagiskManager app and flash),
- I've also managed to build working TWRP recovery ROM and I think I'll try to push it to twrp repositories when find some time.
Where am I to find the stock boot.img?

I found stock firmware officially shared on Blackview forum: http://bbs.blackview.hk/viewtopic.php?f=291&t=532819
Izzat going to work for the pro?
Can't say. Manufacturer haven't published firmware for pro version yet. It is likely to work since the hardware is similar to non-pro, but I've tested in only on non-pro version and it works.
It'll throw an error of it's not compatible, though?
Unfortunately it is not that simple. Even if it's not compatible it usually flashes successfully anyway and problems begin with boot from such partition (boot-loop etc.) and then you will need original ROM (or another compatible) to make device usable again.
Maybe try to ask on this Blackview forum if this non-pro images are compatible with pro version. I think there is huge chance for that.
Issues
Hey,
Have the BV9900 using Verizon. Since the 1st day using the phone I'm unable to receive calls from iPhones. Went to Verizon to see if they had a setting I missed. Nope. Had them dial my number from their iPhones and they all failed to connect. I can call out to iPhones. Contacted BV and was told to save an file and send it to them, which I did and the reply was no problem found.
They just pushed out an update, which after downloaded I now have an issue making ANY calls out. Sometimes it will connect for a few seconds and then fail. The only way to make a call now is be disabling the LTE Enhanced setting under Network. The side effect of doing that is nothing else works. No texts, news, anything!
I now see that someone else is also having the same issue.
This BV9900 replaced a BV9500 (the brick) and has zero issues with that phone. Yes its a different version of andriod, but still was able to receive and place any calls to anyone. I took the SIM out of the 9900 and put it in the 9500 and everything worked.
Not sure what to do as BV does not have an answer or appear to even care.
Thanks
Hi, finally managed to share my rooted boot and custom recovery images. Both have been successfully flashed into my BV9900 and worked fine. Maybe this can be useful to someone.
Recovery image with Twrp:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=313541
Boot image patched with Magisk (also you need to install MagiskManager app to manage root access in the system):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=313543
Can you assist me? When I restart into bootloader menu I get the annoying noise windows makes when you unplug something from USB, and the device manager window flashes. Fastboot devices returns with nothing even when phone is in fast boot mode.... GAH
I'm having the same problem with connecting in fastboot mode as well.
I'm using Ubuntu and didn't have any problems with connecting device via USB. Maybe try to install latest USB drivers (https://www.getdroidtips.com/download-blackview-bv9900-usb-drivers/) or run Ubuntu live (or install) and access device from it - it's really easy.

This is honestly a completely useless answer. "Just use ubuntu" is not helpful.
As far as drivers, I've tried so many different options to no effect.

I tried this before I saw this thread with the 9900 pro. The checksum or something doesn't add up with the flashed magisk edited boot.img and puts it in a boot loop.. I had to reflash the original boot.img. no root on my pro yet. Original IMG is 30ish megabytes and the patched one is 10mb. An I doing something wrong?
[Edit] I forgot to unlock bootloader. Did it with fastboot. The magisk edited boot.img flashed. Now that I have basic proof of rootability, I'll probably flash SuperSU instead.
Root for the BV9900 Pro?

The magisk root method works with the patched boot.img, though it is a systemless root only. I couldn't get a custom recovery to work yet but haven't look at it in a couple weeks. I was waiting for more people to get this device for it to gain momentum.
Thank you. I'll give it a go then.
I have the BV9900 PRO too and would love to get installed LineageOS GSI on it. Tried the unofficial TWRP 331 on my BV9900pro without success - boot loop. It looks like that the PRO is more different compared to the BV9900.
unofficialtwrp.com/blackview-bv9900-twrp-3-3-1-root/
still no successful Root/Recovery possible?
Can anyone help me to get TWRP recovery installed on the Blackview BV9900Pro, please ? Can't find a working TWRP for the Pro.
As written above, the version for the (non Pro) BV9900 doesn't work.
Thanks for any help!

Root guide

This bloke on youtube thinks he has it rooted.. maybe fake though..
The fact that the video says that you cannot update Magisk as the bootloader is still locked makes me think it might be legit..
Considering it is all done within the Android OS it is probably safe to try.. you might just have to factory reset if it causes issues.
Another option?

Looks interesting, this phone would appeal to me more if I could root it.
If the root does work then how could you unroot it or would installing updates get rid of it and you need to root again?
I think root is possible, but until now I have not been able to find out exactly whether the Fastboot is locked or not. it is my first OPPO and so I have no experience with OPPO. even if it's BBK. it's not an OP 8. We can only hope that someone might want to open it here. But from the root on youtube and other websites I would be careful. I also couldn't find any firmware for the flash via MSM tool or download tool ... so at the moment with an unbrick it is not possible to restore it.

Factory reset should revert if the apps dont have revert option.
I'd like to see them show rooting an X2 Pro, rather than an A5s (CPH1909)
ordered one anyway... first phone without root in 11 years.. i hope i made the right decision.
It depends what you root for I guess. For me I currently root for adaway, viper, substratum themes and to change my font plus I recently run a module for various tweaks.
I used viper for my old wireless earbuds, I recently got new ones which sounds great without viper. Lots of apps now have a dark mode and I hear this phone has a beta mode that can turn other apps dark. Not changing font I can live with and the tweaks module is fun but not essential. Adaway I will miss. But for the first time in a while I'm not so fussed about root. I understand some people like it because you can flash ROMs when the device gets older. I survived for 18 months with a Samsung S8 plus without root so I know I can do it!
I need to decide whether to pre order the phone today or I miss out on the pre order bonus, I like it but don't think I can trade in my 7 pro, I love it a bit too much.
First and foremost adblock though you can do that without root. Second Sony Music magisk module for Android Auto. Third to debloat. 4th for some advanced Tasker tasks. I'm pretty sure I can get workarounds for most

I don't see how this can be legit. The video shows a different device and also the rooting tool is for mediatek based devices. The Oppo find x2 pro is based on Qualcomm chipset.
Can anyone confirm if VMOS work this phone? It may be the only way to use root.
Never heard of vmos sounds interesting!
Yeah VMOS is like running VMware or Parellel on Mac. It's easier than rooting an actual android device, but it also gives more battery drain and less intuitive. I have it on my Mate 20 pro, does anyone know if it works on find x2 pro?
Videos been removed. I really wish this phone had working twrp and magisk it'd be literally the ideal phone
I'm just waiting for a oneplus phone with a periscope camera, that will be the one to get as it will be like this phone but with working root.
Yeah miss root. First phone in a decade I have bought without it. Though mostly I use it for adblock though private DNS works very well
Really missing root on this phone. I wish it were available considering the Snapdragon processor
EE
So far, i have been able to Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking, this on the EE Network. Seems there is no TWRP Build Avail for the X2 Pro Yet. And i am unaware of any other way of Flashing the Magisk Zip Safely any other way.
I have also patched the boot IMG with magisk but there is no way to flash the file.
The recovery accepts only ozip files?

How did you manage to Patch the Boot IMG?
Thanks Man!
I download the OTA ozip file from oppo. Decrypted the ozip, extracted the boot image & patch it with magisk manager:laugh:
Easy going but how I can flash the file:crying:
