Is it possible to change the background picture during boot sim/pattern phase? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there,
I own a Pixel 5 and I want to replace or get rid of the wallpaper during the first sim/pattern phase.
When you restart the phone the first thing you see is the spinning Google logo. That's fine the way it is.
Now the next thing you see is the unlock sim card dialogue. During that phase, till you entered your pattern or used your fingerprint the first time, there's some ugly pinkish default background picture. It has nothing to do with the set wallpaper/theme you've chosen for your desktop or lock screen. In fact, I can't even find that picture on the pre-installed themes and wallpapers that come with the phone.
Now I know, you don't restart your phone that often. But it's ugly and still bothers me. I would even prefer a solid black background at the phase. Is it possible? Thanks in advance.

Yellow line in lock screen

Hi All,
I have been using my galaxy s2 since last 1.5 months. No issues/errors/defects till today.
Today all of sudden a yellow line appeared in my lock screen. It is horizontal line coming between date and time. This line only appears in lock screen once I unclock my phone then line is not there which means it is not hardware problem. Please see the following pics with line and without line.
Guys, could you please help me how can I remove this line.
Thanks,
JM
have it too. disable the screen lock, then it must gone.

are u sure? i think it was always there, but it could be that you had a darker background for the lockscreen
I'd like to inform those reading this post that I just experienced the same problem as the OP. No way to get rid of the thin line which wasn't there before. Corrupt lock screen wallpaper? I don't think so, since changing the wallpaper doesn't solve the problem. Also it can't be a hardware problem since the thin line appears on the lock screen only. I now notice this line on all types of screen locks (pattern, pin, password).
Hope this helps
It's just a line across the screen. It's part of the lock screen.

I dont have that on my lock screen, can you set the same image as a homescreen wallpaper and see if it also has the same issue? I've got a feeling its a defect or at least a SW issue.
Root your phone and buy widgetlocker....

It is not a defect. My phone does exactly the same. Maybe some FW has it and others don't, but it is not a problem. It is just part of the design of the lockscreen.
Obviously it isn't a hardware defect, since it clearly appears on the pics you posted, and those are not photographs.
It is also precisely in the middle position between the date and the alarm indication, therefore I'm pretty sure it's there on purpose, software coded.
Just a question: are you using the stock firmware / ROM / launcher??? I'm on stock firmware, ROM and launcher and yy lockscreen is far simpler... I just have the digital time and date overimpressed on the lockscreen picture, and nothing else.
I am having this problem as well, though my line is grey. The horizontal line goes from one side of the screen to the other between the date and the alarm time. This line was NOT there an hour ago so we can dismiss any answers like "maybe you just didn't notice it". The only change was that I powered down my phone and powered it on again. I, like most, originally thought I had a problem with my screen but it only appears on the lock screen. I normally use a pattern lock but I checked and the line appears when it is on number lock as well. My wife has never used the lock feature but I set one up just to see and she has this line as well. It doesn't serve a purpose and it wasn't there before, I'd just like to know why it is now. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.
If You setup PIN lockscreen and then go again to lockscreen settings phone asks You for your PIN before allowing to change settings. This line is there also. It's not a "problem" or a "defect" it's just a part of the lockscreen design. You act like it's some kind of a disaster and huge bug which renders phone unusable but it's just a line separating date from time seen for about 1s when unlocking screen. Do You think there should be a switch do disable every part of android interface ?
Ps. to be sure - I rebooted my phone and this line is there also just after reboot. And this line is not grey - it's semi transparent. I'm certain that in my case it was there from the beginning.
Ps2. look at this or this one - returned by google images for "sgs2 symbol lockscreen" - nasty lines everywhere
If You hate this line soo bad try to prepare wallpaper that has it's own line at this position which when merged with this semi transparent line will become invisible.
This has appeared in mine today. I've also noticed sometimes that the lock screen touch screen messes up occasionally and when you drag between the lock dots to do the pattern; it drops the line drawing after a dot when you change direction.
If I turn off the screen and light it up again then once or twice it fixes the drawing problem, though the horizontal line is still there.
Has anyone on this thread experienced degradation of anything on their phone since they noticed this lock screen line? Want to catch a fault before my warranty runs out (if there is a fault!)

Problem with open optimus ROM

OK, so I successfully installed the ROM. It works fine and all until I actually use openscript on the terminal. For example, I wanted to change CPU frequency. I changed it, quit the terminal, and checked the frequency in system information. It was successful. But After about a minute my screen suddenly locked and here is the current situation. The locking screen works fine (I had the pattern lock), I can even open emergency calls. But when I unlock it, the only thing I see is the notification bar (which works btw, clock, wifi , all the icons are there, I can slide it down and up and so on). Everything else is just black. The buttons work - I can quit the notification tab buy clicking back or home or something like that. But I dont see my home screen, menu, buttons - nothing. I can lock it again, and it works fine again in the lock screen but afterwards same black screen again. Reboot does not work.
So I reinstalled the rom. Immediately after installing changed the frequency and waited for a bit. Everything was fine. I installed all the crap I usually have and kept using the phone. But the next day, I got annoyed by the music player and decided to change it again via the openscript. Same thing happened. And this is where I am stuck right now (actually this is already the third time I have this problem in 3 days and it's my third reinstall of the rom, but the first one also happened after using openscript to change frequency.)
So is there a way to fix this without reinstalling the rom again, cause I've customized the **** out of it and I don't wanna do it again. If no, how can I prevent this in the future?
P.S. If this helps, when rebooting, I hear the sound before the android splash screen which is sometimes skipped and sometimes shown for an unusually short time.
P.P.S. Also, I have the apps2sd flashed.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Got same problem
Hi,
Even I got same problem when I tried to change boot animation. Just blank screen.
But i realised it is due to, launcher app is not initiated. So tried a trick which worked indeed
Trick is when u are in a blank screen, click "HOME" button which will pop u up the list of launchers u have. Click One of them though they r not visible
Voilaa!!! Your screen is back

Wallpaper preview (stuck showing an old screen)

Previously, no matter what over the past year or so I was able to see the entire preview of any live wallpaper or regular wallpaper that I was about to apply, but now after some changes (and I don't know what), all of a sudden there is a STUCK set of icons that I cannot get removed, and it says Preview in top left with a bunch of crap on the screen. Does anyone know how to fix this? It is EXTREMELY annoying, and I even redid my phone just to get rid of it. Yes, it was annoying me THAT much. Problem is... it is STILL there.
Nobody knows how to make live wallpaper preview always show the full screen?

Security/2nd screen notification question

Now that Verizon has fixed the fingerprint scanner/case issue, I'd like to start using the scanner but have run into something somewhat annoying.
Before the software upgrade, the notifications on the 2nd screen had a black background/white font (I had no lock screen security, only swipe to unlock the screen). To use the scanner, I have to set up a PIN but, with that PIN set-up, the 2nd screen notifications are now bright white instead of the preferred black - to me, the white is so glaring...guess I'm picky like that.
Anyone know of a way to get the black background instead of the white, while still being able to use the scanner? I'm pretty sure this is a "feature" of having the lock screen security set up but was hoping someone might have run into this and found a solution on how to get back to the black banner.
Thanks!

Wallpaper problem

I think this is a bug – but it may be a stupid question on my part. Apologies if so. I'm primarily an iOS user on mobile, and the Gemini (which I'm loving so far…) is my first serious experience of Android.
OK, so I was playing with customisation options for my home screen, and although I actually really like the default dark blue starfield background that comes preset on the machine, I decided to swap it for an 'early morning sky' photo that I typically use on all my mobile devices. (It's a photo I took myself years ago, and works really well as a backdrop.)
After touching 'Set wallpaper', I elected to set my new background for both home screen AND lock screen. Fine; that worked OK and looks good. But I subsequently changed my mind and wished I'd stuck with the standard starfield for the lock screen. So I went back to the wallpaper options to change the lock screen only.
At this point I discovered the problem/bug. The thumbnail of the starfield picture is still there to be selected, and if I touch it, it covers the screen like it did before, so everything appears OK. However, when I click on 'Set wallpaper' and choose the option, regardless of what I choose (home screen, lock screen or both), there's a pause and then the starfield vanishes, leaving me with a completely black background. I can set the background image to any new photo that I supply myself without problems, but any attempt to reapply the original starfield graphic fails, which is rather a shame.
Can anyone tell me where I can locate the starfield graphic on the system? I've tried browsing the file system (with hidden files visible) but haven't found it. Or can anyone perhaps supply the file so that I can copy it back to the device if perhaps it only now exists in a cache or some such problem? I'd really like to get the image back.
Thank for any help.

Can confirm I have the same issue after re-flashing with the latest stock Android. Explains why I've still got a black screen!
+1 , same thing seen (or not seen if you prefer lol)

I believe this is a bug. I got around this by a long winded method. I selected the "star field" thumbnail so it covers the screen. At this point I took a screen shot by pressing Fn + R and then you can go to your gallery app, select the screen shot image, crop anything you don't want such as the bar at the top and then set the edited screen shot as your background. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's a good workaround.
