MiUi 12 (V12.0.1.0) for global Redmi 9 devices [lancelot] - Redmi 9 / Poco M2 Guides, News, & Discussion

I know lot of us have been waiting for official MiUi 12 release (no record of bugs so far, will update this thread if this will be the case)
.
HOW TO INSTALL STEPS :
.
1- Check if you are in MiUi version 11.0.9.0 in setting -> about phone.
1.1- Download the corresponding file (link is below)
2- If yes, head to settings -> about phone -> update system.
3- Click on MiUi logo many times in rapid pattern until you unlock additional features.
4- Click on the three dots in upper right corner then select "choose update package"
5- Make sure the battery still have sufficient power for the update process, also be sure that you'll have no use for the device for the next few minutes (update installation period)

I'm running it and it works fine here.

thanks for info. will try to upgrade miui 12

Works great but as it is in beta stage so there are some minor bugs like privacy protection is not working and there is also some lagging issues in games and sometimes in system animations... But overall experience is great

You will know the global is stable if the eea had been released.
as long as the global has some bugs they will not release the eea.
global is for developers.

Can i root with magisk on this MIUI 12?

Concerning the lags in games and stuttering in system animations, that's probably related to device hardware capacities.

In Android world, there is no ROM with zero bugs especially for MiUi, as for the global version it is specifically just varied in regional settings and built-in apps compared to EEA.

With Magisk methode perhaps you can, though I'm not so sure.

could you please explain your side?
aa far as i know that they are not yet releasing the eea version because the global is not yet stable.

Just got my update to 12.0.1.0 (stabile) via the MIUI system updater. My previous version was 11.0.8.0.

finally got it, been waiting since July.

Finally, you download via OTA now.

[Mi 8]Google Camera Mod(STABLE)

Under the great efforts of developers like B-S-G, Arnova8G2, cstark27, xtrme and so on, our device xiaomi mi8 is able to acquire excellent pictures as what pixel 3 & 3XL can do. Let me make some conclusions on this thread.
The most flawless versions are from B-S-G, which are named like "MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2b.apk", many developers use B-S-G versions as a base and add more features or compabilities. B-S-G versions can accessed in a telegram channel.
GC(Mi8) by B-S-G
Here you can find port GCam specially for Xiaomi Mi 8.
https://t.me/gcammi8mi
Download telegram and join the channel above, you can find latest version and instructions.
The other versions are not intended to work on mi8, but you can also try it by yourself. In my experience, some of them DO NOT WORK on MIUI roms.
You can download them by the link: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
For the fresh users of google camera, here are some settings recommended by B-S-G. They are just an basic instructions, if you have higher demands it is better to change the settings by yourself.
OP6 don't use the same IMX363 Exmor RS lens. So tweaks are probably needed for sure.
Anyone developing this? Or has any developer got any hand on mi8 yet?

I'm sorry to tell you that recently I've been following developers' work in oneplus 6. Here's the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/themes/oneplus-6-google-camera-port-t3797544/page39 . And I didn't receive any new about mi 8.
I got my Mi 8 Global version from Hong Kong and unlocking my bootloader. I have to wait 15 days to complete the bootloader unlock. I will try to install latest Arnova Gcam when it is ready.

As far as i know, xiaomi mi 8 has tha same hardware as xiaomi mix 2s.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/themes/google-camera-mod-t3792143
But mix 2s users reported lots of bugs, they are using the mod modified for OnePlus6, which used sdm845 as CPU.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
I tried many versions, the only one available is OP6v0.1_MGC_5.1.018_FINAL_3.4A.apk, but severe bug still occured.
The black level of hdr+ image look like purple, i can't change tint using Manual fixed black level offset.
Hoping developers can fix that for us, thanks a lot.

My Mi 8 is the Mainland China version, so I borrowed my friend's account to unlock the bootloader without waiting for 15 days. I can do that because his MIUI account has been used for one year longer, there is not such limit. Then I can edit my build.prop file to enable the camera2 API.

Yeah, global isn't released.
So far I've tested with several versions built by Arnova6G2 in OP6 forum. Thought it were not meant to be running in Mi 8. I found it that the OP6 versions provided best compatibility.
OP6v0.7.1test_GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8
This version is the best choice for now.
Present bugs: washed out color, incorrect color in some light condition, view finder lags after stayed on view finder for a while, portrait not work.
Here's some photos captured by this version
GCam_5.3.015-Pixel3Mod-Arnova8G2-v4Beta2
This latest version crashes in Mi8.
It says: this camera device encountered a fatal error.

Random "restart" , crashes on MIUI EU.

As the title says I'm having random restarts / crashes. The phone doesn't completely restart (i.e boot logo doesn't appear), instead just turns to black screen and them comes back in a few seconds and I've to unlock it using a pin (first unlock needs a pin in MIUI).
I'm on MIUI 9.6.13 EU rooted with latest magisk, unlocked and TWRP installed. I can't take logs as this crash is really really random. I don't know when it'll happen. I'll just be browsing or watching a video or playing a game or just browsing the UI and it'll crash.
Any help is appreciated thay may help get past this crash or any way I can get a log.
I really don't want to reset and reinstall and reconfigure everything.

Have you tried to dirty flash the same miui eu rom via twrp?
Any magisk module you use? custom kernel?
I just move to miui eu stable 3 days ago from global beta. I met some issues like theme app cannot be updated to the latest via xiaomi app store due to region issue and Cluster 2 max CPU frequency was set to 825 mhz instead of 2803 mhz.
miui eu stable 10.3.5.0+ TWRP+ Magisk+Sphinx kernel.

Yes, tried dirt flashing but to no Vail.
Magisk modules : BusyBox, camera ir enabler, debloater (only to debloate find device).
No custom kernel. Stock only.
I've been using EU from a long time and never faced any issues only until now. The reason I stay on beta is due to notifications as Xiaomi has still to implement the same in stable MIUI versions.
EU has region locked to Poland as I remember because everything works on Poland.
My CPU frequencies seem to be fine and not locked to any particular one.

Ok, try this way. Temporary remove all your magisk module via teeminal in twrp if can. If really cannot. Worst case will be a full wipe. But try backup as many files as possible in twrp.
But Eu beta will come to an end if global beta stops on July this year. That's the reason I'm in Eu stable.

I have thrown this question in miui Eu community forum, the answers are as below:
MarkHUK (founder of miui Eu) Quoted:
I would just keep checking for info as we are not 100% of the China side schedule for now.
Igor Eisberg(patch/mod developer) Quoted:
If no Global Beta ROMs will be released for POCO F1, then there won't be Xiaomi.eu Weekly ROMs for the device as well.
Mark was right to say need to check on China side schedule but poco f1 doesn't have any China rom at all. So Igor should be right about it.

What does this really mean? I don't understand.. And where can I find this thread?
Will there be a solution at one point or is it not certain at this time? In which case what are the alternatives?
I've met the same problem several times on latest EU beta build with Magisk working in core only mode, so I think the soft reboot problem might not be caused by any 3rd-party Magisk module.

1. Depends on what miui version you have, you just reflash the same rom version on top of it via twrp.
2. This is the first time I flash to miui EU stable from global beta. The ROM is at the miui Eu website. The themes and CPU frequency are the issues I'm currently facing.
3. To remove magisk, the uninstall zip will remove all including magisk itself.
4. That is from miui community forum. And that's the answer I got from the people.
Solution remains unknown until global beta stopped.
I assume once global beta stopped, miui Eu beta will stop too, since poco f1 only got global stable/beta only, no China ROM.
I had exactly the same problem as you last week.
Then I had no special things, like Magisk modules, installed. It was just a rooted stock ROM before.
The result after flashing the Xiaomi.EU ROM was a bootloop.
I tried to solve it two days long.
There was no other option than wipe the phone data.
And yes, I lost all my personal data like photo's, video's, docs,...
Now, I've installed Pixel Experience. Best ROM on Pocophone I've yet tried.

I used pixel experience, lineage but to my surprise switched back to MIUI EU. I was just spoiled by the gesture navigation and had gotten too used to them (and the first party MIUI features like app lock and second space etc). The fluid navigation gesture app works sometimes and sometimes just doesn't. And I wasn't getting enough more battery (SoT) compared to MIUI (sometimes even less than MIUI) and thus I switched back even though I'm not a big fan of MIUI.
I flashed MIUI EU beta (for notifications) and debloated a little and everything was working very well until this started happening.
There haven't been any "crashes" since 2 days , maybe it got fixed. Fingers crossed ?
Edit: Just had the "crash".

Updated to miui v10.2.13.0 still no fix

Still no fix for notifications. Incoming message and email notifications still disappear after a couple of seconds. Surely Xiaomi know about this problem and could easily fix it it, or am I just being naive?
You're right. They works only on Dev (last 9.6.27) but Xiaomi close develope, so it should works better on Stables (Global and EEA).

Yes you can without unlocking nothing,i did it between yesterday and today,i was with stable rom flashed dev rom via updater and didn't like it, than i flashed back stable rom again in updater.
In that case I'll stick with the one I'm on, never done anything like that before, sounds a bit technical to me.

It is quite strange, maybe xiaomi removed block because of no updates of Global Developer, but before it was not possibile.

See my screenshot, at now Global Dev 9.6.27 is the best official rom for me, good battery, no lag, no bugs, and permanent notifications.
I am not sure you can revert from Global Dev to Stable, normally you can pass from Stable to Dev but not vice versa

If you are on Global Developer, simply download Global Stable from Mi Download (search for it online), so you are going to have 10.2.11.zip file on your internal memory. Go to updater app and choose install package, then select zip file and accept to install, it will format your data.

Hope that back to global stable will be safe with locked bootloader.

Has someone flashed this rom version yet? Is it really gentle and easy to remove system apps as advertised?

came out
The Xiaomi.eu MIUI 14 version is pretty good! Apps tend to work better, like email notifications actually showing up, bluetooth connection to my Galaxy Watch is more stable, things are feeling snappy.
Also the screen can be much darker now, no more need of third party apps like Night Owl to save my eyes at night.
Battery backup seems better too, don't have a full loop on record yet, but screen off now consumes 0.7% instead of 2%. Will post results when I get down from a full charge.
I am interested too, I am looking for the EEA version

Actually you can kinda customize that right now in theme store
I flashed EU rom, didn't see any big change except for the unusual system memory issue. It is also very difficult to de-encrypt in twrp and also very difficult to disable the read-only key in the system.
