Auto Night Sight & Night Sight Portrait Mode [PARTIALLY] working on Pixel 4a 4G with latest BSG GCam port - Google Pixel 4a Themes, Apps, and Mods

Out of curiosity I installed the latest BSG GCam port on my Pixel 4a, just to see if the auto night sight and night sight portrait mode features (currently exclusive to the Pixel 5 & 4a 5G) would work.
Link here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1495/
If you wish to install this, make sure you download the 2nd .apk file: "MGC_8.0.018_A9_V0j_Clone.apk"
The non-clone one will most likely fail to install on your device.
Let's cut right to the chase.
Auto Night Sight
Auto night sight in normal "camera" mode DOES WORK without any major issues. Proof in screenshot below. I put it in spoiler, because the screenshot is kinda huge. As you can see, the "A" icon with the crescent moon is present. It can be turned off if you wish, too.

I got it to work by going into the settings and setting everything like on the following screenshot:

Setting the interface to Pixel IV 5G Bramble and HDR+ device to Pixel IV 5G Bramble, should work as well. I don't recommend changing the picture configuration and RAW format, as I encountered crashes with different settings. YUV & RAW10 seems to work well, for me at least.
Night Sight Portrait mode
This one isn't fully working for me. It basically only works when taking portraits of people. Not working with objects or animals, unfortunately. I know this always happens with GCam ports on non-Pixel devices, but I thought it would work correctly on my Pixel 4a. Portrait mode on @cstark27 's PX Cam ports does blur the background even if the subject is an animal or an object. So not really sure what the problem is here.
But it's still early, VERY early days for the GCam 8.1 port. I think it's amazing that we have a Google Cam 8.1 port that's working on so many devices already. Great work by the devs, for sure.

What is the "best" gcam Mod in this moment for pixel 4a??
One wich its working fine with no issues? Doesnt have to be the latest.

This is quite amazing! It's definitely one of the apps I've been looking for after seeing how limited the camera settings are (even in comparison to my old Samsung Focus).
With the Lumia 920's fantastic camera and Zeiss lens, I've even considered using it as a B-cam in projects.
I was wondering about two things for future versions of this...
- Maybe have the options either transparent or to the side over the display so you can see what you're changing.
- Add options for video recording. Maybe even a few more shutter speeds if that's possible with the hardware/software. 1/48th shutter speed could be cool for a natural film like effect.
Do we know if the camera is capable of any other frame rates?
Be honest, I have been found this app on german windows phone forum (I believe) and installed it to share capability with you.
It's a Nokia Developer project which can be found here : http://projects.developer.nokia.com/cameraexplorer
There is also the source code if you want to edit it.
Hi, how do you put this xap on your WP8?
Thanks
Windows 8 64bit->SDK 8
Can we install it using this method?
App crashes on an HTC 8X
Works on an emulator though. Will try to debug.
ok,but how to?

I've got a Samsung Omnia 7 with a custom rom, but a WP7 device. There is a camera app that can put more settings, like scenes, in my device? This app have been perfect if it had been for WP7! There are similar apps? Thank you >.<

I'd this for lollipop rom tmobile N901T running tech r
Using this camera on AICP ROM, 5 days without a single crash or opening error. Shutter is quick, photo quality is absolutely superb, on par with lenovo super camera, but faster shutter IMO. I would however like to see autofocus. Not absolutely necessary but it can can frustrating to have to touch on the screen to focus beforehand, especially if you using your note 4 with 1 hand.
works great man! thanks!

but is it as good as the stock one? (Non CM12)
Overall, no. No AOSP will ever be as good as stock. However, in good lighting I find this one to take sharper, higher res pics. In low light the image is still sharp, but noise is noticeable (still better than hazey blur of TW night shots) turn on the flash and all is good. Haven't felt like im missing out on anything.

Camera Issue :(

Heyy guys, Today I'm gonna post about a dissapointing fact about my S9+. Post could be little long, I'm kind of hoping for your patience!! Thanks In Advance.
.
I have been buying mid-budget phones giving camera the priority. After Nokia X2-00, Sony Ericsson K790, Walton Primo ZX3, Mi 8 SE, Now I have switched to S9+ (Snapdragon)
.
My expression on the stock camera of S9+ is somewhat between to to ☹
Let me clarify, The default camera; on enough lighting; takes decent photos, not gonna lie. and thanks to large f1.5 aperture, low light captures are pretty good too! Then why the frown face?
.
It's about the Raws I capture! As a smartphone camera enthusiast, I always try to capture raw files and edit it in Lightroom for better processing. The screenshots attached in this post, the red-rectengular-marked options is from MI 8 SE of a third party app, the clean screenshots are of S9+
.
Let me explain what is happening here. In my rooted Mi 8 SE, i have enabled full camer2api support and used a third party app to capture Raws. That app has expanded the options extensively and given me the full control of options, like ISO(50-6400 fractioned); Shutter(1/50000 to 35s) and so on with capability of capturing raws(dng) somewhat like a DSLR

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
.
But even though camera compatibility shows an enabled camera2api defaultly, My S9+ is unable to provide manual options in third party apps. I can't even control the ISO or Shutter speed, let alone capturing Raws using third party apps
. And that's where is my disappointment.
.
There's is a Raw option in Pro mode in S9+ I know but that really SUCKS, yeah, SUCKS compared to Raw I have captured by Mi 8 SE using Open Camera app, that's so true. Only ISO between 50-800 and shutter speed between 1/10000 to 10s is not enough from me
.
So my question is, Is this possible that these third party apps can't give me full supports because they can't get the root access? I'm gonna root my S9+ (snapdragon), but before this I just wanna know if this works. So have anyone rooted your snapdragon version S9+?
.
Thanks again for your patience. There's Gcam for Raw capturing but Gcam doesn't give me as much flexibility as Open Camera app does!
Have a nice dayy, guys.

I installed it, it works at first but looks like certain features are broken, like photo sphere was being processed, then it got stuck on 90% and it's gone now.

Why they don't add Motorola Edge 30 Fusion as subforum in Motorola forums?
This is a awesome smartphone who really deserve all the best.

Did you find another port for Fusion? Greatness's is nice, but the wide camera doesn't work.
LMC has poor results, especially in low light.
Take this XML for SGCAM 8.4 V43.

Question Action / Sports shots with the default camera

What is the best way to take an action shot with the S23 Ultra? I am not an avid photographer but do want to take decent not-blurry pics from kids sports activities. Is it possible without going into RAW mode and changing exposure settings? Back in the day, my Note 8 had a "sports" mode that was easy to use though haven't seen it in a while. But I do see a "food" mode that I'll never use...
The "motion photo" setting is useful; it can only be viewed and edited with Samsung Gallery app though. The phone allows you to make gifs too.
This is on my N10+/Pie, presumably the S23U still has these options.
There's also burst mode.
Live tracking as well which may or may not be useful. Set up is rather convoluted as certain options are only available at certain resolutions, fps or with other options. Guides for other older models may be helpful if the S23U guides aren't providing enough information. Many of the features date back years.

A combination of burst mode and live tracking is definitely your best option.
I would still recommend looking into gcam using this gcam and config :
Post in thread 'Working GCAM for S23 Ultra' https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/working-gcam-for-s23-ultra.4550019/post-88277895
That version will offer face focus tracking by default which is great for kids action shots. You can also enabling focus tracking if you often need to take pictures of your kids without seeing their faces but otherwise, you want to leave focus tracking disabled so it better tracks faces. Picture quality for the time being will be better than stock cam.
In the end though, even under good light conditions, smartphones won't do miracles for action shots as their focus system isn't that fast. But I'm sure with stock or gcam you can manage some decent shots
