A215U Bootloader unlock - Samsung Galaxy A21s Questions & Answers

has there been a way to unlock the bootloader for the A21

Bump

I still have NO option for OEM Unlock in my D.O..
No methods made it appear yet that Ive tried...
Swear every friggin phone I get SOMETHING prevents me ever obtaining root and or TWRP/CWM besides my Tab S4 anyways..

Hoping for a resolution for the A215U as well.

There was a post about leaving the phone ON with the SIM card for 7 straight days, and the boot unlock option will show up. I'm on my first day with an unlocked T Mobile A21.

I'm hopeful someone will figure this out. I'm 10 payments into 18 on this thing, but so far nothing. I seriously doubt leaving it on for a week will work. I sometimes leave mine on for WEEKS and it hasn't changed it.

Unlocked 8525 Relocked itself..

Hey everyone, what's up?
Recently I sold mt ATT 8525 to a buddy. He is currently with T-Mobile and the phone needed to be unlocked. I used this unlock process --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
I followed the instructions for Vista and using the micro sd card. Once it was finished, I slipped in his T-Mobile sim and turned on the phone. It asked me to enter an unlock code still, so I entered in some random numbers and it worked. The phone stayed unlocked and worked on his T-Mobile network for about a week and a half. Then it just locked itself all over again. I'm no longer able to try and unlock it for him again because I am out of town for the next 3 months and he isn't too computer savvy.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do to fix it?
Also, if an unlock code is entered too many times, will the phone be locked with the original provider (att) for good? We have tried entering the code a total of 4 times (including the time that it worked) I told him not to try entering anymore codes until I can figure this out.
Thanks for any help I may recieve!

Do you still have AT&T for your phone company? AT&T will give you the sim unlock code for the phone after you've owned it for 2 months (provided it's one of their phones and you still have their service). You just have to call them and tell them you are going over seas and need to use a foriegn sim while traveling. I did this with no problem - the only thing is it takes about a week for them to get you the code (they said they'd email it to me - I actually had to call back after a week and ask for it but they gave it to me.)
well, i purchased the phone on ebay..
Not sure what to say - I'd still probably try calling AT&T (assuming it's an AT&T branded phone and you are a customer of theirs still) it's worth a shot. Beyond that I don't know what to say since I haven't used the sim-unlock tool you spoke of.
well, I appreciate your help. I'll give them a call tomorrow. If they BS with me or whatever, then I think I'll just spring for an ebay sim unlock that's only about 15 bucks.

ATT ATRIX 4G will not accept ATT Sim or unlock codes?

Hi All,
First, I hope this is the right section & I hope I am not duplicating another thread. I have a odd situation I think and I don't know what to do. I picked up my Atrix 4G off of craigslist a few days back. The phone is great but it will not accept my ATT sim card. It asked to enter the unlock code for the sim. It's an ATT phone so I am not sure why my sim doesn't work (Same sim card works in unlocked Vibrant). So, I purchased the unlock codes from two separate places and the codes were the same and did not work when I enter them.
I am at a lost now. I don't know what to do.
Any ideas are appreciated?
Oh yeah, I am not sure what the previous did but before I even put my sim, I did use the bypass Motoblur method to use the phone with sim & blur. I did use aroot and glad enable also. After the sim would not work, I wiped data, created a blur account and tried sim again but no success.
Please help me, I want to use this awesome phone!
did you get this resolved? i am having the same issue
Nope. Still not fixed. I am not sure what to do at this point.
i have the same problem..maybe the case is that you entered the incorrect code more than 10 times?
Have you checked that the IMEI code printed under the battery matches the one displayed on screen?
I was under the impression that if you blow the 10 unlock attempts you will have to wait several hours to try again. In other words, it will not permanently lock.
I might be wrong though.
Sent from my Atrix using Tapatalk
How many numbers do you have in your unlock code which you are entering into the phone?
Op,
You might have ruined something software wise, did you try flashing a full sbf version 4.1.8.3 preferably ?
I think it should work for you.
there are 8 digits in my unlock code and the imei is the same in the box, under the battery and in the phone
Same issue - No solution
I have same issue with Atrix bought on local craigslist. I have tried restoring to multiple stock versions.
AT&T spent two hours figuring out the issue and they tried even entering correct unlock code.
They asked me to contact motorola as they feel it is software issue. I will Motorola on Tuesday and post the result.
Hi I have the Exact same issue. The Atrix that i got off Craigslist were sealed. And I tried unlock code for Tmobile network off three different sites and still no luck in the locking the phone. So i went and i got Att sims and said the same thing "Sim Network Unlock Pin"
Anywho, I went to Att store and they couldn't figured out and they dont have a phone in stock to trade in. So after many attempt with Att and their customer service, they advise me to contact Motorola.
The funny thing is that i've sent the phone to Motorola two times and clearly stated my issue with the phone and they did not fix it and just send the phone back to me. So i got piss after wasting 350$ on a phone that i can't use and another 30 Bucks for shipping the phone to Motorola. I contact directly to their tech and the tech support ask me to call ATT. LOL right? So one of the tech just offer me a free shipping so they can take A CLOSER LOOK into it.
Apparently Motorola doesn't do phone exchange all they do is repair it. Any exchange would have to deal with ATT and for that to happen you would have to sign up a warranty plan with them which is $5/month.
So i got one last shot at this. and I'll keep you guys post on update. Sorry for my poor English.
So strange as they are unlocked, im using an AT&T atrix in Australia without issue.
Perhaps the phones have been banned somehow?
BUMP.. Anyone find a solution to this yet??
i leave my phone with the error message and the screen on, for at least 2 weeks and nothing!!
i hope no damage my phone with that time with the screen on
I have the same issue. From AT&T explained me that after 5th wrong attempt, the phone will be permanently locked to AT&T. Anybody has a solution for this?
I tried it alll tooooooooooo !!!
My phone was locked to orange network UK. I wanted to use a VIRGIN network Sim card... SO I called the VIRGIN Network technical support team... and this Silly girl keep on giving me few codes till ......IT STOPPED RESPONDING to any code.. so the phone now will not take any codes. I bought many codes in hope from websites..none worked.
I called ORANGE ..but they had no clue tooooo...
I unlocked the bootlooger thing too. I flashed it few times in hope....and I DID what ever I could do but in vain......
I hope we get some smart ass genius to get the break to this problem....!!!
Very similar issue here. I was in Costa Rica for a month and requested the SIM network unlock from ATT and they provided as it had been 6 months after my purchase. The code did not work in Costa Rica and only used WIFI while over there. I got back to the States yesterday and it still doesn't work, and by now have definitely attempted to enter the code 10 or more times. Its supposedly locked to ATT after 10 unsuccessful attempts but it will not work even with my original ATT SIM.
ATT sent me a new Atrix but I would like to get this one working as well. I have a few questions.
If I root is there any apps designed for root to unlock?
If not will a custom Rom bypass the need to unlock or be unlocked already?
If neither of these work is the phone basically bricked simply because the code (provided by ATT) was entered incorrectly 10 times?
THANKS!
i have the exact same issue the phone was from att but the seller say its unlocked for any company, not rooted , not unlocked, only upgrade via ota from froyo to gingerbread,i wish a solution for that,if anyone find a solution please post!! thanks
alberto
well I went ahead and rooted and unlocked. Going to flash a custom and see what happens. Ill keep you updated.
UPDATE: Tried CM7, Didnt fix. :/
I have exactly the same problem. I have tried unlock the boot loader. My phone already show unlocked on top left screen when power on.
Idk why It still ask for Sim network unlock code when I put my T-mobile Sim in and power up.
It seems hopeless to me after trying to search for someday.
I have tried many some rom.
Please anyone help us..
Thank you very much
FYI, Press #073887* on atrix will bring you to the screen which ask:
"Sim network unlock PIN:"

T-Mobile Galaxy Tab S6

Does anyone here know if the T-Mobile variant has a locked bootloader? And if so, is there any way to unlock it?
I'm wondering the same thing...I'll be going to look at it later today. Also I noticed the wifi model has the phone dialer installed so I'm wondering if the LTE T-Mobile model has phone function with the right sim installed?
I went to the T-Mobile store to look at the tab...They had no idea if the bootloader is locked or not. I'm sure it probably is but haven't seen anything about whether it can be unlocked yet. They also told me that the phone and SMS/MMS might work for a few days until the system detects it is a tablet, then those functions will be disabled. Make no sense to me why we can't have those functions on a tablet here in the US...And why even put the software on the tab if it can't be used? I told them to keep it and I'll get the WiFi tablet and just use the hotspot on my phone when I'm out and about. At least I'll get quicker updates (Maybe because Samsung) and I won't have the tons of their bloatware on the thing.
Any feedback?

If you can go into store and view the tablet go into settings and enable developer options by tapping on the build. Then go into developer options and see if there is a switch to unlock the boot loader. I just bought the wifi model from Best Buy and the boot loader can be unlocked. I have already installed TWRP and Magisk. I think maybe the LTE version may require a 7 day wait not sure.

from almost a year back-wondering was your wifi device branded like Tmobile or Verizon? sad to see no continuity in the thread-was hoping for someone to check out the lte device in Tmobile to see if it could be unlocked or if the option was there-not many resources on internet. Does Tmobile even carry this thing anymore? thanks

Unfortunately, I think I'm being held back by the whole 7-day oem-unlock hide thing. And all the ways around it have apparently been patched by samsung. So this time next week, I'll know for sure. As of right now, I believe it can be unlocked, but I don't know for sure.

thank you so much-well I will be receiving my device tomorrow. So let the race begin-ha ha kidding will see and compare. I did not know Samsung has this 7 day wait period (like Xiaomi has a 2 week period). Oh well, time will tell Thanks for keeping me posted and do let me know what you find. I did see a post somewhere on xda for the tab s6 where the poster said he could unlock the carrier device (think it was Tmobile) but he wanted to find out if he could root it. I will find the post (again it was an old one and of course, my response (recently) has not got any response. In fact, like many, he did not follow up with any posts thereafter (several months back).

Hello Arudis I got a used Tmobile variant. But I do not see any OEM unlock option in developer settings (a prerequisite before anything can be done for unlocking b/l). Which software version is yours having? (maybe it is different because you bought directly from Samsung but does not make sense if it is branded Tmobile). Could be that you have an older version of Android-appreciate if you could let me know which software version, CSC etc yours has. I might end up returning mine if there is no progress. Thanks.!
EDIT: Returned it. Great price and condition. Just too bad-did not want to take chances with it. Good luck-seems that you should be able to unlock it per that other post I sent.

Well. I'm struggling w/ it. CSC was TMB btw. This whole ordeal has been a mess of mistakes on my part. If i can't get this unlocked in the next day or 2 then i'll be returning it myself. I'd rather have a weaker tablet w/ root and a custom rom than a great tablet that i have to run stock.
Current software version is T867USQU3BTJ1 / T867UOYN3BTJ1 / T867USQU3BTJ1.
First thing I needed to know was whether or not I could unlock the tablet for other networks and in order to do that, I inserted a sim and logged into the tablet w/ my google account. I think this is where I made my first mistake as I have a sinking suspicion that inserting the sim somehow got rid of my oem unlock toggle. I know I had seen it before I started trying 2 unlock the sim because its always the first thing I do when I get a new device. But between the sim and the unlock process I ended up rebooting too many times and it auto-updated itself to the latest firmware. Since the latest firmware, I haven't seen that toggle at all. When I try to flash twrp w/ Odin, it fails.
@ this point I've decided that I will never buy another samsung device ever. I've had all manner of fun rooting every other device i've ever owned that wasn't a samsung device, however every samsung device has always been a supreme pain in the butt because I can't just do what i want w/ adb and fastboot.

I agree but this has more to do with (if not entirely) to U.S carriers playing games with dual devices for marketing-only here does this go on, where the carriers since time immemorial have blocked calls and texts on tablets (7 and above inches) giving some bs reasons (there was a time they had this tablet "plan" and phone "plans"-those have at least merged at least for Tmobile-otherwise their servers would detect a tablet and switch you automatically to a tablet plan for your 'convenience' and maybe even 'safety' lol)....so as long as they do this, Samsung (even Apple which does the same thing worldwide anyway) have tablets that do not have phone-like functions (Samsung has this call and text pairing with other Samsung phones a.k.a buy two of our devices please AND have two plans (so both Samsung and carriers win)...) on their U.S devices (Samsung at least to their credit have this :"unlocked" cellular variants in rest of the world, Apple does not even have that-yes, I know there is Google talk and all kinds of wifi-based workarounds but that is a different topic.
EDIT-if you compare the older devices like say tab S and tab s2 (the carrier variants and the international variants you will find out that even the speaker arrangements are different. I delved deep into this and found that even the boards were different-the lengths they went to do this to keep the versions distinct is amazing!) folks here on xda etc kept thinking for a while that they could simply flash the international ROMs (never mind the b/l block or hurdles) but the partitions were not even the same let alone the modems, and the actual hardware itself!
So blame the carriers-I do. So I never get these carrier devices (first time I tried my hand at it-no more)
Having to perform a soft boot tonight I noticed an "unlock bootloader command" in the softboot menu along with "cache clear" along with the always present "factory reset". Which I have to perform anyway because network mode locked to 3G only and no option to change it back so it has major conectivity issues. I'm thinking I may try the unlock bootloader command.
P.S. Mine is the tmo version

Out of curiosity which model number is your tmobile tab s6 lte? I have the verizon sm-t867v model which i re-flashed to the tmobile sm-t867u model using modified Odin 3.14. Unfortunately the bootloader remained locked down with no way to unlock it. Also what is this softboot menu your speaking of? I know samsung like the back of my hand and I've never heard of a softboot menu. Curious if this is something new im not aware of since I've been stuck with verizon brands the last 3 samsung devices I've owned...
Yes and Yes!
Can someone clarify something on the Tmobile Variant of the Tab S6?
This T867U definitely comes with the HARDWARE to text because i got it to work but it stopped.
So could this just be a matter of getting it 'Carrier Unlocked" so TMO cant decide what we do with our tab s6 since its payed for???
Make calls and send messages from your Galaxy tablet
With Call & text on other devices, you can receive calls and send messages on your Galaxy tablet that is logged in to the same Samsung account as your phone.

I have the same problem, I bought the device from eBay and now in Egypt, the device is locked to the T-Mobile network, and I don't know a way to unlock it. I cannot contact the seller to ask him about the T-Mobile subscription details, and after communicating with T-Mobile, they did not reply

3 weeks in and still no bootloader unlock?

I got the redmi note 9 pro and downloaded the unlock tool from mi. I was told wait 168 hours, so i screwed up and tried to do another Gmail i had, so that set me back another 168 I guess? One week later I try to unlock tells me cant unlock wait 168 hours, yes I am binding my account to with a sim and this last time I even left the sim in the whole week.
This phone was bought for development purposes and its useless to me with a locked bootloader. I contacted support considering it had been a week and they told me I was able to unlock it, i try and it doesn't work. 5hey tell me follow directions and if it still does it then its the phone send it back. Everything I try to unlock it sends me back 168 hours, does anyone have any ideas or is there a way around this tool wait bs I'm thinking just send phone back and forget redmi if they have these kinds of issues.
Any help is appreciated

You must use the phone more often within the 168 hours period
Actually, according to redmi customer service
I have to be connected to a network for 15 days continues to bind the account and unlock is what they told me.
I live in the mountains and when I come home I lose signal unless I stand in the exact right place in my house. So my solution was to send the pho e back and get a refund. I am not impressed enough by this phone to deal with the games they want to play to unlock a bootloader . I have better phones to work with. Thank you for your reply though.
New xiaomi rules are so bad. Even I'm not able to unlock the bootloader.

Question Pixel 6 Carrier Locked vs Unlocked

I bought a Pixel 6 specifically to run GrapheneOS, and also because I figured it would have top tier ROM and hacking support in general. I didn't realize T-Mobile carrier locked their phones (this is my 2nd smart-phone, and it's been 9 years since I got my 1st one), so I bought a carrier locked Pixel 6. They say they can unlock it after it's been on the network for 40 days and it's paid off. I am trying to figure out if I should return it, and find one that is factory unlocked.
If I wait it out and get it unlocked, will there be any drawbacks compared to a factory unlocked phone?
Is there any risk that the phone somehow won't be able to be unlocked?
Thanks

I am a TMobile customer with carrier sim unlocked and the bootloader can be unlocked once the sim is unlocked. You can try to chat with a TMobile rep and request to have sim unlocked. Just be courteous, but persistent.

No drawbacks, they will be the same.
T Mobile could change it's mind between now and then, but I really doubt that. The CEO has been very vocal that they support bootloader unlocking.
I don't really see any difference between the pixel 5 and 6 reception. They both are not great. I was hoping 5he January update would improve it some but it just fixed the complete disaster that was December update.
As far as mmwave it is not worth it. The reception on mmwave is so poor and it would cost so much money to deploy. Right now I think it is really only in sports stadiums and malls places where there's alot of people in a small area and also in areas where there is no Verizon FiOS access. Eventually it will grow but I think it's going to be years before it's good enough. They basically have to have a cell tower on every corner and that will take years. And sub 6 5g is basically LTE++

They claimed they did the permanent unlock for me on the phone (twice), but it turns out they did a temporary (30 day) unlock. There is a T-Mobile unlock app which launches to a "check eligibility" button, which when pressed brings you to a screen with 2 buttons, "permanent unlock" and "temporary unlock". Before I called, both were grayed out saying "ineligible", but after, I was able to do the temp unlock.
However, this does not allow me to toggle "OEM unlock" in the developer menu, which is really what I need to do.

Just return the device and be done with it. Get a Google device and never worry that some jackass support person doesn't like your tone of voice and permanently locks it. How much of a hit will you take money wise?
I'm in the same position as OP and it sucks. the whole reason I went back to pixel after a Galaxy s20 was for modding and development :/

Things like this is what scares me. Aren't U.S. carriers legally required to provide a way to unlock their phones? Is a permanent lock something that can happen?
As far as money, I would only be out $40 for a restock fee, but that isn't what deters me, it is the sheer hassle of returning the device, going somewhere else to get one, going back to my carrier to activate it, etc.
If waiting 40 days from purchase to unlock the phone is effectively the same as starting with an unlocked phone, then that is what I would prefer to do.

A couple of things here stand out. Yes, they are required to carrier unlock not necessarily allow bl unlock. But obviously they have found a loop hole if you say you're carrier locked for 40 days. As for activation, don't you just pop the SIM in and done? It should auto register your new IMEI. eSim is slightly different.
The thing about spending 40 bucks and an hour or so in travel and effort will pay off in spades should you encounter any issues. Even for piece of mind alone. But I have never bought a carrier device since the Pixel 3 and it took me a month for Verizon and Google to finally say this guy is making us crazy let's just give him what he wants. I'm talking an hour a day on the phone when support was live. I will not go down that road ever again. So now it's your call. Others can jump in and I do know there are some success stories. Good luck.
