Steps to get the Fingerprint working with unlocked bootloader and Root - LG G8X ThinQ Guides, News, & Discussion

Make sure you have backed up your 20e stock abl.
You will need to download the Android 9 kdz "G850EMW10c_00_1126.kdz"
link to Android 9 kdz:
g8xkdz10cindia - Google Drive
drive.google.com
If you are already on stock with locked bootloader, then start with step 5
Step 1: backup all parittions using qfil
Step 2: flash 20e kdz file using LGUP to get back to stock.
Step 3: flash engg abl in qfil
Step 4: go to fastboot and lock the bootloader.
Step 5: flash 10c (Android 9) using LGUP to go to Android 9
Step 6: Since you are on locked bootloader and Android now, FP works.
Step 7: Register pin and password and select secure pin to boot.
Step 8: Now reboot and enter incorrect pin for 30 times . this will reset ur device again (this is damn time taking)
Step 9: Now flash 20e kdz file using LGUP to get back to stock Android 10. (don'r register fp)
Step 10: flash engg abl in qfil
Step 11: go to fastboot and unlock the bootloader.
Step 12: flash 10c (Android 9) using LGUP to go to Android 9
Step 13: Now you are on unlocked Bootloader and Android 9
Step 14: Now try registering, it might fail.
Step 15: go to User Service menu -> Device test -> SAAT -> Service Menu -Manual Test - Optical Fingerprint test (test it few times)
Step 16: go to User Service menu -> SVC -> Enable FacePrint and Enable Handprint
Step 17: Try registering finger print in settings, it should work. If it doesn'r reboot and do the step 15 and 16 and try again.
Step 18: You must get the fingerprint working in Unlocked Android 9, that's the key
Step 19: It will work after some 1-2 times of step 15 and 16
Step 20: Register your finger print in unlocked Android 9. FInish the scan and set it up.
Step 21: flash 20e kdz file using LGUP to get back to stock Android 10.
Step 22: Now you are on Android 10 with unlocked bootloader, and Finger print works!
Again thanls to @Anand_Y, we got a better and faster way to get the FP working:
It is not such a big procedure. Today i did some testing too. Here are my findings/procedure:-
1. Assuming u guys are on android 10 unlocked bl. Downgrade to 10c using lg up.
2. Go to service menu, svc menu, handprint on.
3. Then imediately go to back to device test, saat, manual test, optical finger test, do the test. Press hard on fp till text turns green. Will say test failed. Still click yes.
4. Go to setting and fp starts working.
Thats it no restarts no nothing. You have fp in these few steps.
This is for LG G8x Indian Flipkart Big billion sale model.
To go into Service menu. open dialer and key *#546368#*850#
Thanks to @NABENDU1 for pooling the steps. Not sure who else tested but thanks to them!
All credits goes to @Anand_Y
Notes: Relocking bootloader is a huge risk, Always make sure you are on stock everything before doing it. Sometimes the device may brick. So make sure you understand the risks.

Update 1:
guys, I understand from @NABENDU1 that we don't need to go to android 10 to use eng abl for unlocking and we can do it via android 9, you can skip step 9 and step 12 from the initial steps. remove those 2 and follow the order.

Can the Pie ROM be used on all models or just the India one? There is no pie ROM for Canadian G8X on lg-firmwares

I'm on V20d with my european LG G8X and fixing FP didn't work for me. To which version do I have to downgrade or did I make something wrong?
Thanks and best regards.

In your case u will have to test yourself. First try the first android 10 firmware for Canada. If that doesnt work try first pie version for your phone model number but different region.
Best of luck.

I assume this won't work with the g850um, sprint version because there are no KDZ files to flash back to?

So if I have a unlocked bootloader and root fingerprint sensor will not working?

Please clarify if only way to receive all the OTA updates that was pushed to the phone is by finding the KDZ and using LGUP. I assume the OTA no longer work since the phone already has received the updates previously and by downgrading it will never get the automatic update?
One other question, can we use KDZ from say the US for the Canadian variant to downgrade? Is there any side effects from using it or if OTA is still good after, would it then update based on IMEI region?

It's simple, after Bootloader unlocked, Fingerprint sensor stops working, for that to work, you have to downgrade your device with the first firmware available for your model number and region. Once the FP Sensor is made to work in that downgraded firmware, flash the device with the latest firmware available for your model number and region. And Cross flashing of various firmware will have it's own side effects, even stuck with boot logo or boot-looping, may work even to surprise you. I hope this makes you to understand some of what you wanted to .....

Thanks for the great suggestion.
I took a stab and did exactly that. The lesson learn was really helpful. I now know there is pretty safe reset root when you mess up with abl and boot. As long as you can still go to the LG Download mode, we can use LG UP to downgrade and start again.

Confirmed working on an EU (Hungary) version. Had to use the command-line LGUP tool (1.17) and not the oldest Pie version ROM but the G850EMW10d_00_0131.kdz version instead. After that I could go back up to Android 10 V20h and both the FP and audio is fixed.

Currently on unlocked android 9 (10b TWN version, only kdz I could find for my variant)
Tried the simplified 4 steps, still cannot get fingerprint to work.
What else can I try?

Working with LG G8X after flashing with LGUP the G850UM10g firmware (Android 9 Canadian). Automatic OTA upgrade to Android 10 (G850UM10j) is also automatically downloaded over Wifi. Merci! Thank you!

Does anybody have an appropriate 10c .kdz file for the V50S?

[GUIDE] How to sideload the Nougat soak test onto your G4. [TEXT TUTORIAL]

AMAZON VARIANT NOW SUPPORTED!
NO PC REQUIRED AT ALL FOR THIS TUTORIAL!
READ ME: I am not responsible for bricked/damaged devices from following this procedure. It should be safe, if done right on the supported models. This does not void your warranty, but it is soak test firmware, meaning that it is beta software, and might have bugs/issues. I haven't noticed any myself, however.
Alright, I am aware that there are already videos describing how to install Nougat, but this is a (fairly) easy to follow text tutorial.
Step 1: Make sure your running the latest Marshmallow.
Before you can install the Nougat update, you have to make sure that you are running the latest Marshmallow firmware for your device. If your phone is running the MPJ24.139-63 firmware, you are good to go. Anything lower, and you will have to update your firmware, either manually, or through the OTA checker.
HAVE A NEWER FIRMWARE? (OR AMAZON VARIANT)
I had a link to a Reddit user's guide to do this, but they have apparently deleted their account, so I'll link this guide from XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/guide-downgrade-to-marshmallow-nougat-t3515961
UPDATE: Download this file and flash it in recovery the same way that you install Nougat, to update to the latest Marshmallow firmware, if you are on anything lower than MPJ24.139-63: https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&confirm=mkUs&id=0BzpjDRtfDv8PdER0cml3VzRHZTA
Step 2: Download the Nougat OTA File.
Follow this link to download the Nougat OTA file: http://downloadmirror.co/Uq5/Blur_Version.24.31.64.athene.retail.en.US.zip
Step 3: Boot into Recovery.
You have to boot into recovery to sideload this OTA file. First, power off the device completely. When it is completely powered down, hold the Volume Down button, and then the power button, not letting go of either button, until an Android appears, with a bunch of text. You are now in Fastboot Mode. Press the Volume Down button until you see Recovery Mode, then hit the power button.
Step 4: Install.
Once you are in Recovery, you may see an Android logo again, with the text "No Command" below it. What you need to do here is hold the power button, and whilst holding the power button, press Volume Up, to access the menu. It is easy from here. You need to select the option to install update from SD Card, using the Volume buttons for navigation, and Power to select. From there, you find where you downloaded the BLUR_VERSION.24.31.64.ATHENE.RETAIL.EN.US.ZIP file, and select it. It will start installing the official Nougat OTA. Give it some time, upwards of 15 minutes to install. Once it has complete, simply select the Reboot system now option, and if all went well, you should see the "Android is upgrading" screen, and now you are running official Nougat soak test on your G4.
NOTES - The install may hang on the "Patching system image after verification." message. Give it around 5-10 minutes, it will eventually pass that stage.
I can't guarantee that this method will work on all G4 variants. I can confirm it works on a UK Retail XT1622, however.
This may make it harder to install the stable official Nougat when that releases worldwide, I am not sure yet if it affects the upgrade path to the stable firmware.
KNOWN ISSUES
I actually have not found any issues with this firmware yet, it appears VERY stable for a soak test build. If you have come across any, or need help, comment below.
COMPATIBLE MODELS
These models have said to have had success with this update.
XT1643 - Moto G4 Plus Dual-SIM (India)
XT1640 - Moto G4 Plus Dual-SIM (Brazil)
XT1642 - Moto G4 Plus
XT1622 - Moto G4
XT1626 - Moto G4 (India)
DOWNGRADE TO MM FOR OFFICIAL NOUGAT OTA WITHOUT BOOTLOADER UNLOCK
Follow this guide from the Moto G4 Plus XDA section to downgrade your G4 to Marshmallow to install the official Nougat OTA:

Welp, can't apply the MPJ24.139-63 update on XT1621 lol
Does it work on the xt1625 non amazon, MPJ24.139-64 ?
traceable ? (sorry not good at this title thing)
Hey thanks for sharing this.
I just wanted to ask whether or not Motorola/their repair service will be able to tell if I applied this update (meaning if I roll back to older firmwear without unlocked bootloader), since I sent my Moto G4 in for a repair but apparently since it came back yesterday the issues came back.
So I just want to make sure whether I can try this without them blaming it on me "flashing unfinished software" once I'll send it back for a repair/replacement
Thanks in advance

I went to the link and I think it was a different version.

You don't have to root or unlock your bootloader or anything like that. I believe that G4 and G4+ ROMs are interchangeable.

Can anyone confirm XT1621? Would it be safe to bet that it'll work if XT1622 is working?
Thank You, i have MOTO G4 with Nougat,
no need to downgrade the bootloder because i was on MPJ24.139-63, this worked with XT1622 - Moto G4 bought from Romania.
"Patching system image after verification" was like 15 minutes and when i choose reboot the led in the bottom of phone was flashing,(strange, i was reading about this led on xda) i hope will function in Nougat .
this does not work in any way shape or form with the XT1625 retail or amazon variants.
If I were upgrading from stock marshmallow to stock nougat and not performing a factory reset I would completely understand why i need to be on the latest version. However, I'm coming from a cm based ROM and will have to do a factory reset anyways. The firmware file includes the most up to date bootloader, soooo why do I need to flash -63 before flashing -64? Is there something I'm missing here or am I correct?
(I'm on Retus XT1625, non Amazon prime variant with an unlocked bootloader)

short answer to your question: the nougat ROM looks for a -63 boot image, and also verifies against baseband versions.
it doesn't matter though, because the Nougat ROM linked herein will not work on a XT1625. i have spent hours trying to make it happen.

What error are you getting when you try and flash it? I tried, but my firmware version was newer than the expected version, so it refused to flash.
I tried this on a locked bootloader with XT1625 amazon prime phone.
I am getting the error This package expects the value "athene" for "ro.product.name" or "athene" for "ro.product.name" on the OEM partition; But the actual value are "athene_amz""athene_amz"
It'll probably work on the non-Amazon version, then.
I have Adoptable Storage and the ZIPs don't show up in the SD card. Is it safe to swap to another card temporary to do the update?

[EMUI 5.1] OTA Firmwares and Unbrick Phone method

Consider one day you upset the devil and your phone is bricked by him, lets try to revive the phone from hell (at your own risk) :

Important tools links:

TWRP Honor 7X img
Stage 1
Download from here everything you need for the procedure - Download Folder Link
I am testing it on my BND-L21 firmware from BND-AL10
Downloading firmware (from topic). Full firmware must be more than 1.5Gb, all smaller is just
OTA Updates to the system.
After that we must download Huawei-MultiTool (future MT) version 8.x.x (link topic)
and downloading custom recovery. We will use TWRP for Honor7x (link topic)
Last we must prepare OTG Cable, SD Card more than 4Gb. On first stage that's all.
Stage 2
Go to MT and reboot phone to Fastboot mode (while phone off, hold "Volume -" and power)
If you did all correctly, you will see in the down right side your number and "Fastboot".
Now go in MT to the Bootloader and check the status. If you have already unlocked, skip this.
If you have locked phone, you must have IMEI and Huawei account. (if not please unlock your bootloader via the Huawei site)
After that, go to Recovery menu and choose our TWRP image in "Custom recovery" section and
type "Recovery". IMPORTANT!!! DON'T FLASH ERECOVERY, I DON'T HAVE THIS IMAGE!!!
After flashing recovery, we must turn off our phone.
Now we must to prepare base system image. In archive we have UPDATE.ZIP file. extract this
file to custom folder and open "Unbrick" in MT and choose "extractor". Open our file in extractor
and click right mouse key on empty space, choose extract all... and choose custom folder to
extracting.
Go to the folder and copy file VENDOR.IMG to the SD-Card (or USB with OTG). Turn on your
device in Recovery mode (Volume + and power), choose Wipe and Wipe ALL partitions! After
doing this, go to Install and choose "Install img", go to the SD-Card, and install VENDOR.img to
VENDOR folder (Important!)
After installing reboot phone again to Fastboot mode and connect to PC.
Now we must download .zip update to your region. We need this for using LTE (4G) in your country + Localization.
After downloading open .zip archive with our CUST file. archive must be called update_BND-
YOUR-NUMBER_hw_YOUR- COUNTRY.zip
From this archive we must extract .img file from root folder. It can be called cust.img CUST.img
version.img etc.
if name different from CUST.img rename it and put to the extracted UPDATE.app folder.
Last Stage 3
In MT go to Unbrick, choose our unpacked system with our CUST file and we must have at least
4/5 checkbox. And just type "UNBRICK" and wait. NOTICE: at moment of extracting system.img
it will be about 10-15 minutes. It's not a freezing of PC)
After good installing in log you will see like "All ok" Just reboot phone and you will see low level
factory reset, or something else like formatting. After formatting phone will reboot to the system.
That's all

there is a procedure used by EU users to completely revive the phone using the OTA but the procedure is too long which i haven't tried yet and is completely for users who have dead phones for now and yes obviously there is no official firmware available for Honor 7x but the user from an EU forum revived his phone so it is possible from the images.

There are teams who have unlocked a lot of stuff like flashing international FW,
flashing gapps on chinese fw, Automatic Call Recording, restoring the phone.
so i am in contact with them to make our phone better. lets keep our fingers crossed. :fingers-crossed:
i am waiting for firmware flashing to get it translated from one of the users.

They arent recovery packages. they are full OTA which can be flashed for updating.
but there is a process to compile them into making them stock firmware packages but due to the long procedure i didnt post it here. rather wait for official stock firmware package.

I also own an Honor 5X & errrmmmm.. I'm not a developer rather still a learning buildbot ? still I want to take part in bringing up LOS or AOSP for Honor 7X. So we can work on it together if you want.
Cheers!
P.S. Belated Merry Christmas.

Hello Honor 7X Users, turns out there is firmware available for flashing for the AL10 and L21 variants
but i haven't tried them out and can post the procedure if someone needs it but all credit goes to PRO-TEAMMT for releasing them for us so now if we mess up we got official firmware's latest available to go back to.
I personally haven't tested any but i soon will.

1. Download the appropriate firmware as per your model (Link to the website given)
2. Clear Cache
3. Flash the firmware file
(Wait for the complete process to flash a firmware from scratch so that i can do it and confirm myself but if anybody tests before me let me know)

1) ???
2) Not sure there is always a chance of bricking
3) Yes, if you don't know what you're doing. No if you're not going to be flashing anything.
4) You should be able to and also refer to #1.
5) None available
6) None available
7) You can't, no stock image released = no procedures to unbrick

1- can i upgrade the system at every update (when the device is rooted) with Firmware finder many times even if I don't recive the notification on the phone of the update (or if the device updater cannot find it)?
2-ok but if do all right steps you cannot brick the phone, no?
3-ok i only wanna unlock bootloader, flash twrp and root the phone. If I do all right steps there are no risks, no?
4-i don't understand it (in hisuite there s the option that says "Update device". With the device rooted can I update the phone with this software?)
5-ok but can I do one with a custom recovery, no?
6-ok so we just have to wait, no?
7-ok. Same thing of the - 6 (we have to wait for the UPDATE.APP for the 7x to be able to UNBRICK the phone in case it could happen, no?)
Sorry for my bad English and thanks for the answers?

1. yes you can if the app supported honor 7x with their firmware but it doesn't yet, use twrp
2. yes you can upgrade via flashing it in twrp
3. unlocking bootloader itself is dangerous let alone rooting since your waranty is gone since there is still no sign of official stock firmware
4. same as no. 1 ans
5. if u flashed twrp you can do your nandroid backup which can be later restored anytime so it will be obv on the phone at that time
6. manual or local update? in the op main post i guess? by opening the link?
7. Still no official firmware and the procedure i am aware of consists of turning the official chinese firmware into normal by changing settings and stuff which is a long procedure so probably if u brick, u r stuck until honor decides to release stock firmware
by the looks i guess you have no clue about phone flashing, its better you dont try anything until there are guides properly made for newbies. :silly:

I rooted my 7X(Al10) version successfully but while performing the reset, deleted the system file also by mistake. There is no TWRP backup. Is there any way to get the stock OS files again to flash in TWRP ? Or does anyone have a backup file they made that they can share? I tried Huawei e-recovery too, but that gets stuck at 'unable to get package info'. The people at the service centre can't think of any other method to restore the phone, except changing the motherboard. When is the official stock file expected to be available?

1. In the app firmware finder there are firmwares for the phone but how can I flash a official firmware (OTA I mean) if there are no one (or how can I flash a firmware finder Update)?
2. Same thing in -1 (I mean)
3. Ok. Now we have to wait the official stock firmware, no? (i don't understand this answer, please write it in another way)
4. I don't understand it
5. Okok (obv? Sorry I'm Italian hahaha)
6. It's not the same thing local or manual? Write it in another way please hahaha google translate doesnt help me?
7. Okok, So if I don't use your method I only have to wait that honor release the official stock firmware (UPDATE. APP). And for greater security it's better wait it before to root and unlock bootloader etc, no?
Anyway, I have an idea of what flashing is, in fact every device I have (they are all Samsung, so that's why I'm disoriented) is completely modified. The fact is that I dont have much experience (I'm 14 years old) with non-Samsung devices, in fact my honor 7x I received for Christmas and for the hurry and the want to modify it, I would like to know all these things.
Thank you

I would recommend everyone to not do experiments over your phone to try and root and flash random stuff..
they only have official chinese firmware for flashing so its better to wait for the official firmware for non chinese version.
the method which i know of to flash on the phone is for people with flashing knowledge cz the procedure is not simple and secondly even i have been flashing my phone for many years on various devices yet i havent got the guts to root this first honor device cz their partitions are different and somewhat secured so dont play with it.
wait for the official firmware for your respective devices. maybe they will straightaway launch the oreo firmware.

[Question] diffrences between LG V10 H960A, H960AY?

Hi guys,
today i got a LG V10, and I want to update it to Android nougat.
I saw this toturial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/general/how-to-manually-install-android-7-0-t3624444
Can I use it on my LG V10 H960AY? I don't really know what the diffrences are.
Thanks
Other than regions, I couldn't find any differences. Here are few links for your reference :

I see that the h960ay doesnt have a nougat firmware. I want to try the h960a firmware on my phone. You think it could work?
Most likely it will work. Backup your important data first. Things to be considered :
1. Use LG Up i/o LG Bridge
2. I flash dz instead of kdz, kdz won't flash, it's there in other thread explaining conversion.
3. If you're on L than flash 960A's android L first. Same thing if you're on MM, flash 960A''s MM first. We need to anticipate possible downgrading issue.
4. Flash in proper sequence L to MM to N, Don't skip
---------- Post added at 10:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:09 AM ----------
Flashing process seems to stuck at certain percentage, don't panic, do not unplug cable or press any button. It'll finish properly.

Requirement :
1. Firmware from above link #1
2. Flashing tool from https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/uppercut-lgup-loader-g5-variants-t3511295
3. Extract dz from kdz https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600575

This is what I did to make things worked :
1. Uninstall LG USB drive, reinstall using the latest
2. COM Port number detected by LG UP must be the same as one in device manager properties, if not switch COM Port # manually under "Advanced" (a guy also change Flow control to hardware) but I didn't do this.
3. I used dz format instead of kdz for successful flashing WindowsLGFrirmwareExtract
4. When flashing reached 99% in download mode, LG Up showed 80% and it will stuck for quite some time, don't panic it's progressing eventually and rebooting several times afterwards until you see the bootanimation and got into the upgraded Android.

2 Questions:
1. is it matter which firmware i take? because i see it divided by regions, and mine isn't there. I'm from israel.
2. First I need to flash the MM H960A? is it matter which region I take, does it need to be the same with the Nougat?
Thanks again, I really ap;preciate it
Closest would be middle eastern versiom, either way it'll be painful once you enter android after successful flashing because you have to deal with unfamiliar language. Just search tap the three dots, select, scroll down till you find a row with A where you can switch the language. Anyway, I have more reference (link) on other devices which I can't access at the moment. I'll get back to you later on today. It took me a few days with proper infos before proceeding with flashing. So be patient a bit

About the language, English is good for me.
Anyway, I planned to flash the phone only on thursday, so I have time. If I won't know what I'm doing, I'll wait. I know the risks and I don't want to destroy my phone.
Waiting for your reference.
Thanks a lot!
Well, my LG V10 is f600s (Korean, SKT operator) which surprisingly comes with T mobile software version. So after flashing, the default language is Korean. It is important to flash according to your board type. I finally find this guide, page 1 method didn't work so I use this one instead
1. download AIDA.apk. Find the serial number. For me LGF600Sb56 ........
2. download rom F600S20l_00_0503.kdz / F600S30d_00_0510.kdz https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-f600s-firmwares/
3. download WindowsLGFirmwareExtract.1.2.6.1 https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2600575
4. In the program, click on KDZ / TOT file OPEN. Find rom F600S20l_00_0503.kdz and click Extract KDZ.
5. Extracted rom must be F600S20l00.dz
6. Download the Common.rar folder. Extract to LGUP to model folder. It works for me. https://uloz.to/!9byYOh354OyJ/lgv10common-rar
7. Connect your phone in the download mode and run LGUP. Turn LGUP off and on again. Wait until a large program window opens. It was small for me.
8. flash rom
9. Done
It can be found here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...h901-korean-board-f600s-update-t3640999/page5
Please also read page 1 regarding how to get into download mode / bootloader for flashing but as previously mentioned method on page 1 didn't work, for me at least.

Yup make sure nothing is wrong with H960A Android M first, because once you're on Android N it's highly probable you can't go back to Android M due to anti rollback

I need a more detailed explanation
With LGup what exactly to do
And I say exactly
And in the BAT file I get an answer "waiting for the device
I have drivers and it recognizes it
I'm talking about the device F800L
Awaiting quick reply Thanks in advance
LGup for KDZ firmware, for example (F800L30e_00_1022.kdz) for F800L.
BAT file for Fastboot mode of the phone.
Boot-twrp.bat + TWRP.img + boot1.img must be put in the Fastboot folder before starting.
It's very simple if you have experience unlocking the bootloader.

I already have the F800L30e installed
And I have the KDZ file
Where do I get the BAT file from?
And I get waiting for device
When I try to play the file
Yes i have drivers
yes i checked it works
This is just for short answers for you
You mean the BAT file that is in the first message Or another file
Because the same file in the first post I tried several times
And it does not work for me
In which folder to run the file In the fastboot folder
Or from the main folder
In the "download mode" you will not succeed. You need to put the phone in "fastboot mode" to write TWRP + boot.
If you do not have "fastboot mode" then the bootloader is blocked. If I understood you correctly, then this is exactly so.

hi thank you for your effort
Could you enlighten me about the f800l bootloader unlock
I have applied the dirtysanta method to unlock then I root with magisk now I am under pie and root with magisk but when I check the bootloder status it displays locked under nougat and under pie (when updating)
I wonder if the ditysanta method and to bypass restriction of the bootloader to root the mobile or it is a permanent unlock or imissed sme think?

You can ignore it!
The dirtysanta method does not bypass the bootloader.
The bootloader is overwritten by the engineering unlocked from us996 (aboot.img, abootbackup.img).
With the rule ((LGup firmware in "partition dl" mode KDZ, remove daws aboot, abootbak)), there will never be problems when downgrading or upgrading the android version (repeating the "dirtysanta method" will not be needed).
In short, "permanent unlock" with an unlocked bootloader from us996.

The F800 dialer has a built-in call recording and records well. Google Voice is not needed for this. WhatsApp, like many other messengers, does not have a built-in recording, attempts to record by third-party applications often lead to poor quality (the compression quality plays a big role as the connection quality). Try every possible application, even outdated ones, and you might find the right one.
I can be wrong somewhere, I don’t use call recording.

Does the DirtySanta Bootloader Unlock work for the F800K model? I should have gotten the F800L, but I ended up with the F800K which seems to have little mention anywhere.

The official kernel sources for Android 9 (LGF800L_LGF800K_LGF800S_Android_Pie_v20a) were released in a single version, without updates. PIE 30h, 30e must be compatible with the kernel. This kernel was posted by me on another resource more than a year ago, here recently. So far no one has spoken about the incompatibility of the kernel with the "30h" firmware. Otherwise it would have been indicated.

How To Guide Downgrade US OEM (DE2117) Android 12 firmware to Android 11 BEFORE installing Lineage!

Lineage installation on N200 REQUIRES that you are running Android 11 or phone will soft loop after installing the Lineage boot.img
If you are updated to Android 12 firmware and want to install Lineage, you MUST downgrade first to:
DE2117 OEM Android 11 FINAL OTA
WARNING: This WILL erase all user data.
1. Place the firmware .zip file in the user root of internal phone storage.
2. Sideload OnePlus firmware Downgrade Tool on phone and use tool to flash the Android 11 firmware.
There is an Emergency Firmware install tool that OnePlus posted to the OP forum that does NOT check root status when the need to downgrade back to A11 was first acknowledged due to modem issue with first A12 OTA release.
This file was removed in a few days when they posted the official Downgrade tool replaced it.
I have used this tool to upgrade DE2117 C_16 to DE2117 C_17 while rooted and the built in upgrade tool failed at 37%.
Nice, first thanks for the hard work you're putting in. Second, is there an advantage to converting first to DE2117 then installing lineage as opposed to just installing lineage from DE2118 that you know of? I know in the other post you answered my other question stating that the Lineage will install on either so I wasn't sure if I'd get any benefit from starting over and converting my DE2118. TIA

Lineage is using own kernel and boot.img on A11 so in the short run it is not going too make any difference, but when Lineage moves forward to A12 the OEM Firmware has newer drivers and is updated sooner, has more OEM features and bugfixes as well as no carrier bloatware.
It is possible that OP will neuter the Carrier firmware with an OTA update to prevent cross flashing device away from the Carrier rom in the next OTA update by preventing fastbootd from flashing the us oem from a carrier phone.
They have already removed fastboot boot command to boot a boot image without flashing it for test before you flash and to allow Magisk to make a backup of the original boot.img before adding Magisk.
I would convert NOW, before they decide to slam the door on this ability with a future OTA that will not allow you to downgrade and prevent this as they are under contract with the carriers to not allow this to be done.
Ok, thank you for the explanation. Guess I'll back everything up and convert it.

This worked perfectly after following your convert guide and upgrading to 12. Downgraded back to 11 so I could install lineageOS. Thanks again!
This reddit post has a link to an English version of the downgrade apk which makes it a little easier.

Did you remove root (Restore boot.img) and then factory reset?
You will loose all data doing this anyway.
I m trying as well .. but stuck with verification failed message just as scanman0 I m on stock android12 no root if anyone know how to fix it ... please assit
I just downgraded. Make sure you remove root via magisk. Then proceed to rollback to Android 11. Everything worked fine. I'll install lineage tonight when I get home.

I did not have to remove root. I used the version posted that does not check for root but maybe there's a different reason.

Just place apk in phones working directory, same path where your downloads folder is. Then install from there like any other apk and run. I also kept the FW file in the same directory but I'm not sure if that was necessary.
So, just to confirm, I press "local install" and select the firmware zip and it closes? Is the tool supposed to do anything else or am I good to flash LineageOS?

Ummm if I remember correctly hit local install and then it will prompt to point towards which FW to use. After you hit it, it will go back to the previous screen, I think verify and unpack it, then install it. Mine did appear like it was doing nothing after picking the FW and so I picked again which screwed things up so just wait after picking, it should start.
After its done it will give a message saying to restart phone I think for it to take effect, then after you restart it should ask to wipe phone, then restart again and you'd be in A11 presumably. Once in A11 your good to follow the normal procedure to install Lineage. This is all from memory though so I MAY have missed something but I don't think I did.

Nothing major, caused the UI to glitch out and made it seem like the process was stuck at 81% but when I closed the app and tried to do it again it jumped to 100 and said to restart the device.
I've downgraded a second time (I'm very indecisive on which OS I want to use) and that one went as expected since I knew to give it a second to start doing its thing.

Weird, for me it just closes the app and does nothing, both the official and emergency ones. I even tried adding it to magisk's deny-list.
But I just restored the boot image via magisk (didn't restart) and it works now...

Yes I factory restored the phone and tried again. Still fails every time
Has anybody had any luck figuring out the verification failed message? I too have tried both the official and emergency apps, of course I can't read the actual message in what I presume is Chinese, but it doesn't do anything and the other version says verification failed. Have not rooted. Kind of at a loss right now and all I want to do is install Lineage! I've already got my unlock token from OnePlus, but my understanding is that the phone still needs to be on A11 before installling Lineage.
