[Guide] split screen in EMUI10+ - Huawei P30 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Want to use split screen without needing to use the multiwindow stock? Here a guide of how to do split screen with any app, almost as it used to be before EMUI 10.
You must use the gesture based system navigation and you cannot use the assistant gesture for your favourite assistant (since this method relies on this gesture):
1. Install "Assistant Shortcuts" at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=host.stjin.assistantshortcuts
2. Enable the accessibility service for this app
3. Start the app and go into the "buttons" tab
4. Enable the "splitscreen" option (not any other one)
5. Now enable the assistant feature in system settings->system & updates->System navigation->Gestures->Google assistant
6. Now select the "Assistant Shortcuts" app as your assistant in System settings->Apps->Default apps->Assist app
Now go into your first app you want to use and swipe from the bottom corner of the screen. The screen should split and the bottom part should allow for picking the second app.

[Q] Rotate Screen Manually

I know there are other threads related to this topic but problem with me is that my mobile's accelerometer has stopped working, so turning on/off auto-rotate feature is of no use to me. Is there any application or widget that helps to manually rotate screen or at least gallery so that I can view picture in landscape mode. Go Launcher Ex allows to rotate homescreen and app drawer but doesn't rotate any application. I just need an app to view pictures in landscape mode. Please help!!
Solution!!
I searched the whole web for a solution to my problem which just like this thread. I wanted to be able to cycle between landscape and portrait at the press of a button. Unfortunately I found no tutorials to do so, therefore I had to develop my own method and I wanna share it with the community.
*This doesn't require root permision! : )
This method isnt free but afterwards you can rotate the screen by double tapping the home button.
1: Invest ($1.49) in an app by Coin Soft called "Orientation Control"
1.a After installing open the app to change some settings. Set the switch style to "Cycle". Then select Cycle Settings>Disabled Switch>Auto Rotate.
2: Now download a free app by Hideki Kato called "Home2 Shortcut" and open after installing.
3: Now you need to set up "Home2". For step 1 of the Home2 set-up, select "choose Application>Installed Applications" and set it to "Orientation Switch"
4: Scroll down to step 3 of the Home2 set-up, and select "choose home application" and set it to whatever your preferred launcher is.
5: Finally read step 4 of the Home2 set-up, and do just as is says.
Now you can double tap the home button at anytime and rotate the screen. Hope someone finds this useful ; )

Kiser360 , thankyou so much!
Another Option
There is also a free app called Ultimate Rotation Control (By FAME IT) that I came across that works perfectly for manually controlling orientation. It includes a widget to manually control landscape/portrait. Its will also let you override apps that lock you into a particular orientation. I was playing around with a new port of MIUI on my TF201 and this came in handy due to auto rotate not working.
I didn't try combining with Home2 shortcut because the widget worked fine for what I was trying to accomplish. There are a few check boxes to enable the L/P controls. Good luck.

How To Add Pie Control To Any Rooted Android Smartphone/Tablet

You can install LMT launcher app on “any” Android smartphone/tablet device and also even customize the buttons (up to 10 buttons + another 10 for long-press on the buttons).
Step 1. So, let’s get to it... download the latest version of LMT launcher from XDA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150 Then install it...
Step 2. Open the LMT app, and hit “Start/Stop TouchService” to start the LMT launcher.
Also, you can set “Autostart TouchService” to value 1 if you want it to start when your phone/tablet reboots.
Step 3. For the gestures to work correctly, you will need to set “Set gesture input”. Refer to the device list below and choose the right value for your device. If you don’t see your device in the list, select No known device yet ,..it may take some time..
Step 4. Test your new PIE control by swiping from the center right-side edge of your screen. You should see a “basic” PIE control
Step 5. You can change the color of your new PIE control in Settings under “Pie Colors”.
Step 6. Also, the PIE Control defaults to the right side of the screen, you can also activate it for left side of the screen (for left handers), bottom of the screen, or even have it activated for left, right, and bottom.
Step 7. Next, you can customize the PIE Control buttons any way you like by going to PIE Settings and setting them up to 10 buttons and also 10 longpresses...
Step 8. When you add an app, you might not see the logo of the app.
Simply set “Show app images” in settings to 1 or 2 or 40-60 for small icons to make it show app logo.
Step 9. If you set all of your buttons, you should see a nice PIE Control with 10 shortcuts!
Once you are done setting your PIE Control....ready to go
Enjoy and go show off the pie..

Um I run Nova launcher and modified legacy xperia (by me) and I want to add pie control to it. Do I need to install another launcher. Out is it just an application that allows us to add pie control. Just clarify that out to me. Is this launcher a home launcher or what?

[Q] Disabling default gestures / Watch face

Hi all. I recently got a Callisto 100 and installed monx's EZ SMART ROM on it.
1) Is there any way to disable default gesture(swipe left to go back, swipe right to menu)? I installed GMD Gestures app and want to substitute default ones for other apps using swipe gesture, but I cannot find any menu about it.
2) I'm trying to implement 'flick to power on' feature. So far I managed to make the screen turn on with Shake app, but it just shows the screen I used last, not the lockscreen(default watch face). Is there a way to do this properly?
3) Are there any useful free watch face app or lockscreen app I can use instead of dull default watchfaces?
Thanks in advance.

A Way To Remove Navigation Bar in Android 8.0 for Note 8 (NO ROOT REQUIRED)

The way we used to set navigation bar's height to 0 DOES NOT work anymore!!!
Here I want to share a way that I use to remove the annoying nav bar WITHOUT ROOT.
If you are interested, you can try it. I currently have a SAMSUNG NOTE 8 UNLOCKED running Android 8.0
I discovered this method based on luisshnyder's method (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/remove-oreo-navbar-completely-t3772217), but I did more to resolve some problems he didn't mention.

After using my method, what's working:
1. A full screen with no navigation bar in any circumstance even in landscape mode or input method pops up.
2. Hard press working all the time, including when the phone is locked, screen off or unlocked status.
3. Screen capture working and also scrolling screen capture working (many users want this!)
4. You can swipe or other gestures to perform go back, home, recent app or many other functions.
What's not working:
The lock screen shortcuts cannot be displayed correctly under WQHD resolution.
Overall, you need the following software
1) Android 8.0 Oreo installed
2) All in one gesture (Free, in PlayStore)
3) FloatingMenu 6.1.9 (Free, but Pro Version works much better, don't use PlayStore version, use the apk attached)
4) All necessary software needed to run adb commands. You may need to learn how to install and use adb command line.
Now let's start:
0. Go back to your phone's default settings if you tried any other methods before (ignore this if you didn't).
1. Go to Seetings -> Display -> Navigation bar, UNcheck "Show and hide button".
2. Install All in one gesture.
2.1. Configure this app's settings in the way you like. I use 12 Hotspots Straight Swipe and make Bottom, Left, Center to be Recent, Home and Back.
2.2. Go to Personalization -> Edge Preference, Leave Opacity as it is, we'll deal with it later. set other scrollbars the way you like, I use the following value: Edge Sensitivity 50px, Edge Width 100%.
3.3. Go back to Personalization, make sure Auto Rotation is checked, while Behind Keyboard is UNchecked. For me, to make it better, I also Unchecked Toast Message and checked Animation.
3. Install FloatingMenu 6.1.9, DO NOT use PlayStore version, use the apk attached.
3.1. Configure your bottom bar the way you like, but make sure the Height is more than 200. You may need to buy the Pro version to use all three bottom bars.
3.2. Go to Settings, make sure you UNcheck "Reposition when IME appears", and set "Auto hide when landscape" to "Hide all".
3.3. Go to Advanced settings, make sure you UNcheck "Max window level", and check "Cover softKeyboard".
4. Plug-in your phone to a computer with adb environment, make sure USB debugging is ON. (Learn more about adb if you don't know this before operating)
5. In the command line, run: adb shell settings put global policy_control immersive.navigation=apps,-com.samsung.android.app.smartcapture
6. In the command line, run: adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,-168
7. Fully test your phone, then make the bottom bar transparent to make it more beautiful.
8. For users who use WQHD resolution only: Go to Settings -> Lock screen and Security -> App shortcuts, then turn off both shortcuts.
9. Sometimes you need to reboot your devices.
=========================================================================================
If you want to undo the effect you made by the above two adb commands, here are the two "Recover Commands":
adb shell settings put global policy_control null
adb shell wm overscan 0,0,0,0

Did you find any fix or workaround for edge lighting at the bottom?

you can use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.app.skillist.gesturebar&rdid=com.app.skillist.gesturebar
Thanks so much for this. This works perfectly
skewing/cropping problem
I followed all the steps on my Note8 but the homescreen and app drawer appear skewed to the right a little bit like there's an empty space on the left of the icons while the far right column icons are cropped in half, any solution for that ??
Update: I found that this problem is caused by changing the Screen Zoom (in Display settings) to the Small setting. If I set it to normal or Large, then nothing is wrong,,, except that I've grown so used to having small screen items that even the normal setting looks huge now to me. If there is any fix to this, that would be much appreciated.
First of All, thank you so much. Your guide works like a charm.
At one point I'm facing a problem with floatingmenu. It's all in Chinese and exept some basic knowlege about the Charakters. I'm unable to find die right settings.
An way major thanks!
Some app, something is below the navibar, cant display correctly
It ist possible to switch the language. Just go to the last bar in the first page and change the 5th setting. After pressing on the settings a windows appears with the option "English" .
Just use substratum and the system mods theme. I have nav bar hidden and just use gestures

Is there a way to spoof app version so it stop asking me to update ?

I cant use the app cause it asks me to update and if i dont it exits . I dont want to update . how to bypass the update pop up ?
I tried to clone the apk with newer version but the app freeze and doesnt start
Simply stop app's automatic update:
Step 1:
Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone.
Tap the Search Box at the top of the Play Store.
Enter the name of the app you are looking for and tap Search.
Step 2:
Tap on the app to open the listing.
Tap the three-dot overflow menu in the top right-hand corner.
Uncheck Enable auto update.
Once completed, that app will no longer automatically update, regardless of what your overall settings have been changed to.

Thanks for the reply .
The app is installed on my peloton bike , there is no google play store allowed
The app gives a message “update before using” and shuts down . There is not many options to try . I was thinking ti change the metadata so the app thinks it’s on a higher version so it passes the check
