Messaging Problem in LG V60 ThinQ T-Mobile (Unlocked) - LG V60 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Hello guys.. My cousin lives in the US and he purchased an LG V60 recently - unlocked ofcourse. Now the thing is, the messaging service is totally off. The stock app isn't sending/receiving texts.
He has already tried using a lot of messaging apps (setting them to default), also inquired that the phone is unlocked, removing & reinstalling SIM and even getting the SIM card replaced. They even tried network reset and band changing stuff but it didn't help.
Even in Google Messages, He gets the msgs hours or days later & whenever he tries to send a msg, it shows either "Sending..." Or "Insert SIM card to avail this feature". But if he restarts the phone, since the app hasn't sent the text, it says "Tap to Resend". On tapping, it works fine but only for each and every msg - whether sent or received.
If you know a way, or have encountered this with any android, please help !

there's a lot of info missing here, fyi
- what's the carrier?
-are they on latest update?
-what us the exact model number, look into setting. this will tell us the variant of LG v60 your cousin has.
-did they attempt any tampering with bootloader or rooting?
-do they have good signal?
give us all the info to better help. add as much info to each answer as possible.
TRY THE FOLLOWING
factory reset the APN settings.
next if that fails, factory reset the phone.
I'M also in the US and have used many messaging apps and have had none of these issues.

I asked him about the questions and this is the exact reply :
1- My current carrier is Mint Mobile. (They use T-mobile's network)
2- My phone is on Latest update on everything (OS, messages, etc )
3- Exact Model number - LG V60 Thinq 5G LM-V600TM
4- I didn't tamper with bootloader or rooting.
5- Good signal ? Yes. I have full bars and it has been confirmed by Mint mobile customer service. They've checked it multiple times and made sure that that's not the reason I'm having problems with Messaging.
He has also done network settings reset upon request of the customer care from Mint mobile. They said sometimes that helps. Other than that, he hasn't done anything apart from changing the default app from LG's to Google's Messages.
He just noticed this [attached image] today from Settings - Network and Internet - Mobile networks - Network Unlock(View Current status and inquire Network Unlock Eligibility) But when he talked with T-Mobile Customer Care a few days ago, he gave them IMEI and they said it's unlocked & that he's free to use it anywhere.
P.S. He isn't into Custom ROMs & modding & I don't know much about Unlocked phones so I had nowhere else to go for help. Thanks for taking the time out to reply

[Q] Unlocked Galaxy S2 No Data

Hi guys,
I am on the Fido network.
I purchased the Galaxy S2 I9100 from Bell Mobility.
I unlocked the phone using cellunlocker.net.
Everything worked great once the phone was unlocked (data, voice, text, mms, etc).
Once I updated the APN and selected my network operator I noticed my date stamp on incoming texts was off by a few hours. I corrected this by calling my service provider who reset my SIM.
This is where the more serious problem started, the date stamp on the texts was corrected although I lost my data connection.
Another thing I wanted to mention was when restarting the S2, the data network mode (when holding the power button) automatically goes into "deactivated". I activate it right away although this still has no effect.
Can anyone help? The phone worked for just under 2 weeks with data, voice, etc. Now nothing........

Go to mobile network settings - access point name. I'm guessing that there is no APN settings there. Google APN settings for your service provider or ring them and ask them. This should sort out your data connection
Hi,
All APN settings are correct, they were working prior to calling the service provider for a SIM reset. I rechecked them 10 million times to ensure all is well.
Using my wireless for now and even factory reset my phone but nothing.
Try deleting your apns and reconfigure them!

Just finished, I deleted my APN and created a new one. Still nothing, even when I reset to default. Also registered it on my network operator. This is very puzzling for me... I appreciate your response as I thought it was a great idea and was sure it would have worked! =(
Maybe try a buddies Fido sim to see if it helps.

Tell me what network your on and tell me what modem you are runinng? Take a screen shot of your APN settings. It will take 2 screen shots for the APN settings
I apologize for the delay as I was away for work until today...
The data works now.
I called into my service provider who at first stated they could not help me as my phone was unlocked. This was overcome as I still had the my Nexus S which I bought from my service provider which also had no data. After trouble shooting for 30 min on both phones (resetting, factory wiping, creating new APN's, etc) we were unable to get the data to work.
The tech rep then asked me to attend a Fido store (my provider), which I agreed to (rep asked me to insert my SIM into another Fido phone and try the data connection that way).
Within 10 min of the phone call my data connected just like that. Funny part is I didn't do anything to the S2.
I believe my provider switched off the data when I called in originally regarding my date stamp. Then when I called back they switched it back on knowing it wasn't any of my settings or the phone. This is just my theory.
My advice is never let your provider know you have an unlocked phone, especially Fido.
I appreciate your help and hope this helps anyone going forward.

[Q] I9100 with 3 Ireland - Unable to connect to network

Hi,
My S2 won't connect to my network. While living in France I rooted it, and installed a custom rom (vk-ics). This caused no problems and everything worked fine. Since moving back to Ireland (where the phone worked fine pre-rooting) I now can't connect to a network. I had a meteor sim, which was able to connect to the data network, but not make or receive calls, ie. emergency calls only. Now I've changed to 3 mobile hoping that would solve the problem. I am now sometimes able to connect to the 2g network (which works as national roaming with vodafone), but not to 3's 3g network. The sim works fine in another phone.
I have tried flashing a new rom (resurrection remix), and several different modems, but non of them have helped. I have checked my IMEI by using *#06# and it matches what written behind the battery. Does anybody have any suggestions of what the problem might be?
Thanks
I've now done a complete factory reset and flashed the phone with the latest stock firmware for 3 and still the same problem. Emergency calls only. I am completely out of ideas.
Can anybody shine some light on what's happening? It worked fine in France on SFR.
Call your carrier & check there isn't something at their end causing this (IMEI barred, some kind of issue with your account; and actually do this. Don't just say you did, come back here & go thru a bunch of troubleshooting steps that won't work because it's a carrier side issue).
If there's nothing carrier side, do a clean install of ICS stock (wipe, etc) & see if that fixes the problem, if it doesn't, post here again.

I asked my carrier was the IMEI blocked weeks ago and they said no. But seeing as no other solution would work I paid for a report online with checkmend yesterday, and it turns out it is blocked. Their customer care is ridiculous. I could have saved myself a whole lot of pain if someone had been able to check the database properly!
Cheers for the reply

[Q] Unknown Sim Error with UK Card?

Hi all, I landed in Heathrow for vacation a couple days ago and immediately bought a local sim (EE 500 mins, unl text, and 2gb data). I swapped it out while on the tube and I got and unknown sim icon in the status bar. Weirdly, it appears I can send and receive texts (I was getting messages from EE) but I cannot use data. Furthermore, when I took the Eurostar to Paris yesterday, I got a text from EE welcoming me to France, informing me of roaming charges etc so it is clearly communicating with their servers.
I'll be heading back to London on Tuesday, and I'd like to have data then.
I am rooted, but still running stock ROM.
Is this a Verizon, LG, EE problem? Or is it a combination?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Probably some APN issue but I wouldn't know what exactly you need to do to fix it. Anytime you run a phone that's set up for one carrier on a different one you usually have to at the minimum change APN settings to have full functionality.
Maybe where you got the SIM from can give you the correct APN settings. Make sure and back up your existing APNs first.
Enjoy your vacation. Safe travels!

Thanks for the reply! I created the appropriate APN with info from their website but still no dice :/
Ur going to have issue the icon will remain as long as u are you using a non verizon sim as far as data normal issue have been not being able to recieve mms. Make sure data is enabled then recheck your apn make sure its fpr smartphones then if all else fails it possible your carrier may not be able to connect to data via verizon hardware
I am getting the same problem in the UK - see the OP - same 'unknown SIM' icon in the top bar. I have voice & text, but no data.
Two different carriers in the UK give me the same problem - 02 and EE - so it's not unique to one carrier. If anyone has further info I'd appreciate it - otherwise I'm down to put this phone aside & buy a new one as I'm living the the UK for a year or longer.
Has anyone been able to attach a Verizon LG G3 to a UK providers data? If so, how? LMK please!
Thx in advance!

Unable to connect to my mobile network

I recently purchased a refurbished phone Samsung Galaxy S21 5G. I just got it yesterday, and found that I am not able to use my mobile network. The sale said it is factory unlocked, and according to the descriptions, it should work just fine with my US Mobile SuperLTE network as well. When I switched on the phone, I see Verizon on the screen and so, I assume that it was locked to Verizon in the past.
When I tried to change the network settings, specifically the APN settings, I get the message "Access Point Name settings are not available for this user." The three dots on the top with reset to default is also greyed out along with Network mode in the previous page. When I click Network Operators and try to connect to the network manually, I am only able to connect to Verizon Wireless and no other. But, calling and messaging seems to work fine. Is it that the unlock process has not been completed properly? Did any of you face the same problem before? It would be great if there is something that I could do to unblock the APN settings as the rest of the phone works really well. The specific model is SM-G991U.
Thanks!

So, you need to go into the settings menu and find about phone, software info. What you want to find is the CSC information.
It will basically look something like this: XAA / XAA-XAA / XAA (or some other letters like VZW or ATT or TMB etc etc.
What taht will tell you is very helpful in determining what rom the phone is running and what kind of device it was originally. Find that in your device and post it and people will help you to figure out what it means.

Thank you so much for your reply. I looked through the software section in the about section. I found the following codes about the rom.

So the csc info is complicated, I'm no expert on it. But it does look like the OYN indicates it's a multi csc rom. It does have XAA as a part of the code, and that indicates it's 'open' for that specific part. But all the others are VZW. So it's running a vzw rom, obviously.
Your sim US Mobile uses both verizon and t-mobile networks. So it working for calls and texts makes sense, as a vzw phone. You could use patched Odin and flash a different (open) rom, but first you should verify that the device really is unlocked from vzw.
Best way to do that would probably be to insert another carriers sim card and see if it can make calls / texts. If not, it's not unlocked. But are you saying everything works now except mobile data? IOW, no internet access?
I had an international sim card at hand and I put it in. Interestingly the APN settings are no longer blocked. But, I do get a notification from setup wizard saying the inserted sim is not from Verizon and some services may not be available. But, messaging still seemed to work and I was also receiving 4G.

Oh then yer okay. That message from verizon can be gotten rid of a couple of ways; 1) use adb commands to disable the specific packages 2) use patched Odin and flash a different rom
VZW is the only rom I think that does that, and it's very annoying. I don't remember exactly which packages have to be disabled, but search google and use xda and vzw in keywords and u should find it.
The 2nd option would be my choice. It would do away with vzw crap and with an open rom you may find volte and vowifi will work also.
cheers
Thank you so much for your reply. That sounds great! To just give it a try, I tried putting in a TMobile sim and phone restarted to install software for TMobile. After that the APN settings were unlocked and now I am also able to connect to the internet using my US Moblile sim. The only problem is the the network mode is greyed out.
This rom I think only recognizes network from major telecom providers. So, just flashing with an unlocked rom would just help to unlock all the features and also remove telecom specific crap. I will try to flash it today.
Thank you again!
I also just flashed the stock firmware which is fully unlocked. And there is no bloatware from telecom OEM's. I am now able to use the network and set the APN's, but the Network Mode is still greyed out. Is it possible to know why? I am guessing that if the phone is fully unlocked, I should be able to change the Network Mode. Is there any other info that I can give you to help understand what is happening? I do not see vowifi as well.

How To Guide 5G and VoLTE in Canada

After getting this phone about two months ago (XQ-CQ62), I've been reading how some people are having issues getting the phone to work on VoLTE and 5G in Canada. I posted my experience on Reddit, but figured it might be good to post instructions here how I got mine working.
1. Make sure you have the North American variant of the phone with the North American firmware.
2. Go through setting up your phone (I wouldn't setup any accounts or anything at this point, as we're going to wipe it). Download Sony Xperia Companion and go to "Repair" phone.
3. After repair completed, set up the phone properly with your accounts etc. and type *#*#4636#*#* in the phone dialer. Go to "Phone Information", disable DSDS - this will disable the second SIM. Restart the phone - at this point, 5G should be working, but IMS registration (responsible for VoLTE calling) is likely to show as "Not Registered"
4. Call your carrier and advise them that IMS Registration is showing "not registered", ask to speak with a level 2 tech and have them add the IMEI to your account. This step is necessary as in Canada, it appears that if you don't purchase the phone from the carrier, the IMEI is not "authorized" because the carrier has not tested the phone and cannot guarantee that it will work. Be persistent as level 1 tech's may give you hard time about how it won't work.
5. After the rep confirms they have added the IMEI number to the system, they will ask you to restart your phone. If they have added the IMEI and made some other changes on their end, you should have VoLTE working, and the network should not fall back to 3G when making calls.
Hope that helps out any one that is having issues.
Which carrier are you with?
