LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Do not install Gapps, they are included in the ROM as RIL needs them!
The ROM requires a full wipe, back up what you have!
If you get a battery screen after flashing do a full wipe and flash again.
Support for this ROM isn't guaranteed, this ROM was made for Android 11 bringup (marlin, sailfish). By testing this ROM and reporting bugs you help make the trees more stable. Thank you.
Bugs :
SELinux is permissive (won't affect daily usage)
Night light and other color related functions are broken
You tell me.
Instructions :
Download the latest build
Boot latest TWRP
Tap "wipe" and then tap "full wipe" and type "yes" in the box
Flash the latest build
Reboot

Build: Discontinued
Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

So far so good. I'm not noticing any extraneous battery drain.

Is this built against the current state of the lineage-18 trees? I'm going to make my own builds and see if I can help debug!

yes

Then how'd you make it work?!? You'd have to change the manifests to pull the right sources somehow. Especially if it's built against lineage 18, because the pixel xl is not going to be officially supported.

You know you can manually clone the repos right? its not required to use manifests lol

Hi, im using the ROM since it was posted here and thank you for supporting the good old OG Pixel XL.
The only issues I had so far are UI lags in the laucher and quick settings tile and the encryption. When I try to boot into TWRP and after I enter my passcode it shows an error that it was unable to decrypt the phone. Im using the latest TWRP downloaded from the official website.

What kernel is being used? I looked at the sources link given and I couldn't find the kernel.
Thanks!

Pixel experience kernel

I seemed to have no issues with TWRP or encryption.
My only things of note are a few bugs I have noticed:
1 - The sunset/easy on the eyes orange overlay thing doesn't seem to work
2 - Similarly the Digital Wellbeing greyscale filter doesn't seem to work
3 - It might just be me but the lockscreen Always On Display brightness seems a little high? Usually it's much dimmer
I also concur on the overall laggyness and chopyness. it really is quite sever but just about useable. In comparison to PixelDust (which is what I was using before) the difference is huge
I also seem to be having problems launching/updating a number of specific apps but I'll try a system wipe again I think it might jus be a backup/restore problem.
EDIT: Oh sorry, I just noticed you already mentioned colour related bugs in the OP, doh!

I cannot comment on the laggyness thing because I don't actually own a pixel 1, however if you can send me a logcat ill take a look.

I was able to successfully build an image for the Pixel XL from these sources, thanks for the help! I am really excited to bring Android 11 the the good ol' marlin.
I will be investigating any issues in the coming days when I have time to work on it.

I've done a full bunch of full wipes and repartitioned /system (probably wasn't needed) and after being 100% sure it's a clean install it works brilliantly now performance wise.
Other than the aforementioned bugs on greyscale/eye strain mode it's a flawless daily driver!
I did also try it with Elemental Kernel which worked fine but I didn't notice any perceivable difference between that and your so I re-installed it clean.
SafetyNet is also easily bypassable etc so this is great

The build works great - there are a few minor issues. Other than these things, it works as intended.
Grayscale/Nightlight doesn't work (already mentioned before - not a concern)
UI is laggy at times (I made an eng build to test - that may be the cause). There's nothing promising in the logcat, except for:

I have been able to install Gapps, and the "Ok Google" detection does not stay toggled. No idea why.

I may be imagining things but it feels like when the phone is plugged in and charging the laggyness almost disappears most of the time. I'm wondering if it might be some baked-in power saving features misbehaving. Maybe something on the SOC side given your logcat above?

Any dev or someone that can help tell me what is happening?
Modem crash (?) and a possible fix maybe
TIA
kmsg is kernel log.....kernel logs would do good if we had kernel source but we dont so they dont really do anything a logcat would be better atm
How can I capture a logcat since it reboots? Boot to recovery and pull it before it erases it?

[Q] Compile CyanogenMod 10.1 problem, I think it should be hwcomposer errors

This post is Google translate, my English is not good, please forgive me
This is my first build CyanogenMod, some errors, boot animation can not see.
I tried a Google error, but did not find a solution, I hope you can give me a little help.
My personal guess is hwcomposer problems that cause errors Adreno200
This is my device : github.com/GentlemanMod/android_device_zte_Silky
thank you for your help ~
Here is my logcat

[Q] Slimbean 6.8 d2att Play Store Trouble

On an AT&T Samsung SGH-I747, UCDLK3.
I upgraded from the most recent Slimbean 6.7 weekly to the new official 6.8 yesterday (format system/cache/dalvik formats). Now I'm having download and update trouble with new and installed apps. This is an error I've never seen before, not the usual "720 or 719 unknown reason" errors which can usually be fixed by clearing the Play Store cache & data. See the screen shot for the Play Store error I'm getting on SB 6.8.

Here's everything I've tried so far:
(Screen shot of Play Store error, and a logcat taken while I was attempting a download attached.)
1. Cleared Play Store cache & data.
2. Formatted cache & dalvik cache in CWM recovery.
3. Fixed permissions in CWM recovery.
4. Rebooted
5. Deleted 6 or 7 apps, repeated steps 1 - 4.
6. Repeated step 2, then re-installed the Slimbean 6.8 AIO add-ons, which include the latest gapps for Slimbean and Android 4.2.2.
7. Restored my Slimbean 6.7 NAND backup.
8. Play Store still works fine in 6.7.
9. Did a completely clean factory wipe, dalvik wipe, sdcard wipe SB 6.8 and 6.8 AIO add-ons install.
10. Same Play Store download error.

Kexec, ram_console and future development

So there are a lot of us on nexus, this is our best opportunity to work together and fix Kexec for arm. I suppose hardboot has already been shown to work on arm but as far as normal Kexec I have not seen this work yet..(unless someone has an example?)
I have a Kexec tree started for both hard and softboot kexec, but I want to get ram console working first. I added back the ram console and persistent ram but last_kmsg still isnt showing up...though pstore still works I guess. Anyone able to enable ram_console and last kmsg? Ram_console is being a pain for me, not showing iomem.
As for current nexus issues, video, LED, sound etc I would be more than happy to contribute to solving these issues if anyone has a start already please post a dev related discussion for it, if not I will eventually start this.

Whilst I've never done kexec hardboot stuff, I did get a kexec port running for chipset 3 model Intel series laptops (E6420 in specific), and got the trackpad working again after softboot (just a matter of inserting correct device ID's and their related calls, easily found on ALPS code repository). But that was all x86 stuff, never messed with ARM implementations, if you'd be willing to help catch me up to speed on ARM specifics, I'd love to help. I took a look at your Kexec source for the S4, but when I laid eyes on it, it was way beyond me by that point XD.
Also, what exactly are the perks of using softboot/regular kexec as opposed to hardboot? It seems easier to implement, and equally as successful (based on my limited knowledge).
On the subject of LED, if your interested in how to communicate with it, I'd contact either Franco or the Light Flow developer, both seem to have the correct idea in progress.
The screen issues are a wide variation of problems from my understanding, one being that adaptive brightness dims the pixels, and changes the RGB profile, causing the green hue many users are seeing (the most common problem, and the one I have on my device), so it seems like something that /should/ be as simple as editing kernel sources and disabling the change in RGB profile. Though, this would be way easier if we still had XPosed, which honestly, was perfect for situations just like this edit.
Nice to see an actual central starting place for Nexus 6 development.

Hey thanks, I was able to fix LEDs, testing latest edits for last_kmsg now...
About soft vs hard Kexec, its not a difference in functionality, its just principle I guess lol. Bringing the drivers back in a coherent state has to be possible....also for hardboot I'm having a hell of a time determining where to set the hardboot page address...I guess I've been on locked down devices too long.
I'm working on getting Motorola's fastboot ramdump working, it should be pretty useful for this.
As an update I have reserved space for ram console. And natively added kexec in...next is to test kexec hardboot and hopefully get some sort of multirom/safestrap solution going (I'm more familiar with building safestrap)

Great work, glad to see you found the right range to dial in for memory reservation.
You do realize that ram_console has been replaced by pstore filesystem and you can find the kmsg from last boot in /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops (or wherever you mount the pstore fs), right?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of pstore, I care about more than oops. Last kmsg was much better (especially for android). It's unfortunate so much of persistent ram code was moved to pstore, I see you have multirom going.. Did you post the hardboot patch yet? Id be interested in seeing how you did it.

What *more* are you talking about? As far as I can tell, pstore contains exactly the same information as ram_console did - kmesg from previous boot. In addition to that, I think I also seen it have another file specifically for last *failed* boot (like after kernel panic), can't confirm that right now though.
I will release the kexec-hardboot patch once MultiROM for shamu goes stable, I don't want kernel devs to merge potentially buggy versions of the patch.

My pstore console-ramoops certainly doesn't show as much information as the last kmsg I'm used to, and even with early printk I still don't see the boot chain execution from last boot.
This could be on me missing some parameters or such but I thought I had read the documentation on pstore thoroughly .. Maybe I'll give it another read though. So since your testing kexec, do you see kexec execution info/debug messages from previous boot in your console-ramoops currently?
To me it looks about the same as other Nexus devices, if you're coming from something else then yeah, other devices might have more debugging logs enabled. This is how last part of console-ramoops looks after kexec:

BTW, serial console via headphones jack also works on Nexus 6, that's what I used most of the time. You just have to build/get the HW and forcefully enable the console in kernel, since whoever made the bootloader for Nexus 6 was a very evil kind of person.

I'm pretty sure (on the Nexus 7 2013, at least) there is a "fastboot oem uart-on" command. Does this not work with the Nexus 6?

Oh, there is "fastboot oem config console true" (and bunch of other options, see "fastboot oem config"), thanks. Didn't know about "fastboot oem help", gonna remember that for next time. Still don't think bootloader should even do this kind of stuff though.

I don't even have a Nexus 6.
If you get me an aboot dump, I'll check to see if there are any other relatively interesting commands (if you want, that is).
Hey, I hope you don't mind me asking about this here. I owned Samsung devices for years, so I sorta recognized the OP
I'm just wondering if anyone here might be able to tell me why my ROM/kernel won't generate a last_kmsg. No matter what, it's just never created. HTC M9 - CM12.1 based.
Is it possible that I'm missing a module in the kernel?

[Q] Phone bootloops on first boot with lollipop ROMs

I think my i9100 (16 GB model) has a serious KitKat addiction issue...
I've tried to switch from SlimSaber 4.4.4 to a 5.1 ROM and the phone just gets stuck on the first boot. Since I can't access the logcats on the first boot i don't know what is causing the phone to get stuck.
Here's what i tried and came up with the same result:
- From a KitKat ROM -> Flash a 5.0.4 one with a full wipe before and /system format, or just a data / cache / dalvik wipe
- From various TWRP / CWM KitKat Recovery -> FULL format on ALL partitions on the phone (sdcard included) -> Flash 5.0.4 / 5.1
- From a KitKat ROM -> Flash a 5.1 one with a /system format before and a data / cache / dalvik wipe after
- From various TWRP / CWM KitKat / Lollipop Recovery -> Flash a 5.0.4/5.1 one with data / cache / dalvik wipe before and / or after
Note: Some of the flashing tries were ROM only, others were ROM + Gapps (and + SuperSU in some cases).
Basically I've tried many combinations of flashing and the freaky phone just hangs on first boot (and yes I've waited more than 20 minutes for the phone to boot and it doesn't pass the animation screen).
However... If I flash any KitKat ROM the phone boots perfectly fine!
I'd appreciate any help solving this issue as I don't know any KitKat Annonymous Android Addicts Association in my area
I got this log on a first boot logcat-enabled ROM:

I was having the same problem for weeks until I stumbled on this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60473209&postcount=1106
Attached the PhilZ-kernel for flashing after the concerning PIT-file was flashed successfully. This kernel allows to format the Preload-partition from recovery. This is needed, that you don't stuck in a bootloop, after flashing a custom LolliPop-ROM.

I flashed PhilZ kernel, wiped the /pre-load, /data, /system, /cache, flashed another TWRP kernel, then finally successfully flashed cm12.1. I'm not sure why the attached PhilZ failed to flash cm12.1, perhaps the recovery is not updated.
Hope this helps.
