H-ROM S20 Port by Astrako breaking SIM & Wi-Fi - Samsung Galaxy J6 Questions & Answers

Hello, I've recently installed the H-ROM S20 Port by Astrako.
It was working fine until after a few days I realized that Wi-Fi is not working when my friend tried to give me hotspot (It was the first time I was accessing Wi-Fi on Astrako's masterpiece).
I realized this was a big annoyance so I decide to go back to my J6 stock ROM only to find that SAMSUNG doesn't allow for downloading ROMS (The error while flashing the stock ROM was something like: sw rev. check fail (bootloader) device: 9 binary: 7).
I tried several ways of flashing the stock ROM, even tried flashing single components like CSC, BL, AP alone but it always gave me that error and resulted into a soft brick.
I managed to get around the soft brick by booting into TWRP and flashing H-ROM again. But after this episode, the SIM won't work either in addition to the already broken Wi-Fi.
Searchs around the Internet have suggested that it is the `efs` partition that is broken. All tutorials suggested to restore the efs partition but I did not have a backup so nothing to do. Another solution suggested messing with USSD codes like `*#06#` which always made the Phone app to go unresponsive.
So these are the possible solutions:
- Is there a way to allow downgrading of ROMs so that I flash the stock ROM?
- Someone with a J600G can provide me with their EFS backup
- Somehow fix the Wi-Fi/SIM issues otherwise because these issues are definitely not H-ROM's side effects.

Note 4 problems with freezing/crashing

I have a sprint note 4. I don't have it activated currently and use it as a tablet of sorts. Recently it's been giving me problems and I've wanted to break it. I got it about 2 years ago, and since then I rooted it, then installed twrp recovery, then flashed custom software. The software I used was called Dr.Ketans I believe, it combined the note 5 and s6 edge plus softwares. It started to crash occasionally so I installed cyanogenmod onto it. It worked for a bit, but now when Turing the device on, it takes like 10-15 minutes to boot up. And it only stays on for 5 minutes before it crashes and freezes. When it does that, the only way I can boot it up again is take the batter out and put it back in a few times because sometimes I get an error message. The error message barely happens but it says something along the line of "cant boot up". If I use twrp, my phone doesn't freeze. I've tried reinstalling the software, I've tried formatting the entire phone and refreshing. Nothing seems to work. I've even tried changing my kernel but I'm not entirely sure what it is, and how it affects the phone. I'm not the smartest with phones, but I'm good with following directions and googling. If anybody can help me I'd greatly appreciate it cause I've been dealing with this issue for 3 months.
Reinstall the original firmware and make sure it doesn't freeze / crash with it and then you can reinstall the custom software. Make sure that you have the required recovery, bootloader, and baseband version to run the newer custom roms. The requirements should be located in the OP.
I appreciate the response. I will try this as soon as possible. Should i use odin to flash or would it be possible to use twrp recovery? Also, what do you mean when you say the requirements are in the OP?
You should use Odin to recover to make sure you have a fresh start.
The requirements of the rom you pick afterwards should be in the OP.

I effed up with my Moto Z (No Wifi - "IP Address Unavailable")

So I'm not sure what I did because it's been a while since I messed around with this phone (bought a Honor 8 Pro after that), but I most likely flashed something wrong. So the first weird thing is that apparently my device went from "griffin" to "sheridan", not sure how that's possible. The second thing is that when I flash a stock ROM, I have no wifi (it doesn't detect any network) and in settings it says my IP Address is unavailable. I tried nearly everything. Resetting WiFi settings, rebooting, reflashing stock ROM etc. Nothing seems to work. Help please?
My phone says sheridan too when i boot in bootloader mode. Anyone know whats os this?

Most likely you have flashed incorrect firmware. But this problem is common even with locked/stock devices, possibly could get fixed in the next update. The problem is that there is no way to downgrade firmware (otherwise this can be fixed by flashing 7.0 stock rom including firmware)
Downgrading the Firmware isnt a problem. Downgrading the bootloader and gpt isn't possible. Anyhow, my wifi and BT are broken too and going down to 7.0 and than installing all OTAs won't fix my issue.

[SOLVED] S9+ Fails to Unlock After Latest Pie OTA Update

Hey all,
My phone updated today and ever since I cannot move past the initial lock screen. When unlocked, the UI appears to crash and send me back to the lock screen. My pin code works for turning the phone off, restarting the phone and putting it into emergency mode, which indicates some sort of UI crash.
Because this is a new account I can't post a link to a video of the issue directly, but the YouTube video code is: 8ZhlH-Tt-NU
I have tried the standard fixes like wiping the cache partition and booting into safe mode, but these don't seem to make any difference. Unfortunately I never logged into my Samsung account on this device, so their 'Find My Mobile' service is not an option. I am however signed into my Google account on the device and it does have wifi/network enabled.
The phone is running PPR1.180610.011/G965FXXU2CSA8
On the phones internal memory is a bunch of photos from a recent trip to Japan, I'm a fool for not backing these up sooner but I would hate to lose them.
Has anybody experienced anything like this before, and is there any way for me to get back into the phone, or atleast recover the photos that I took?
Thanks!
Edit:
One potential route out of this I can see is sideloading the same or a subsequent OTA update using ADB to hopefully fix the issue. Unfortunately despite some digging I can't find any updates that will allow installation from: PPR1.180610.011/G965FXXU2CSA8
If anybody has any information on this specific firmware version (Is it beta 3? beta 4? ect.), its installation path and where files relating to it may be listed/hosted it would be appreciated. Also how disasterous would it be to take a mismatched OTA upgrade and modify the metadata to allow it to be sideloaded onto the phone? I assume this would almost certainly break the OS completely but I'm not too sure.
You can try to flash your firmware again with ODIN, but with the HOME_CSC (Important!)

Thanks for the reply Profi I had no idea using HOME_CSC would retain user data. I have tried flashing a few different versions of Pie (wish HOME_CSC) using Odin but with no luck, every time the phone boots I have the same problem. Do you know if there is a sure way to downgrade to Oreo while retaining user data? I have seen a few posts of people attemping this and getting stuck in bootloops, eventually requrining them to factory reset.
To give a final update on this. I attempted the Oreo downgrade, upon reboot the phone was stuck in a bootloop so I updated to Pie again. When the phone booted I tried the pin code as quickly as I could, and after some glitchy graphics on the screen it unlocked. From here I turn on the stay awake while plugged in feature in the developer options and managed to transfer all my data over to PC.
I don't believe it was the firmware changes that actually made any difference, because any further attempts to put my pin in, to remove the pin code for example, failed and cause the same crashing behaviour.
All data is recovered, I have factory reset the phone and all appears to be behaving as normal again. If anybody stumbles upon this with the same issue, all hope is not lost, but unfortunately I was unable to determine a realiable way to overcome it. It seems in this case it was just dumb luck.
Thanks for the assistance.

Cannot setup PIN/pattern after rooting Galaxy S9+ (SM-G965F) (Android Pie 9.0)

I'm using Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (SM-G965F) (Android Pie 9.0) and I rooted my phone by using Magisk, after that I cannot setup PIN or pattern. After I setup PIN/pattern and I go to add biometrics screen, when I confirm my PIN/pattern, there's a popup tell me that "PIN/pattern is incorrect."
How I root my phone ?
1. Flash stock Android Pie firmware via Odin
2. Flash TWRP recovery
3. Boot into TWRP
4. Wipe data
5. Flash RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2.zip
6. Flash no-verity-opt-encrypt-samsung-1.0.zip
7. Flash kernel ElementalX-S9-2.01.zip
8. Flash root file Magisk-v18.0.zip
9. Reboot
Did I do something wrong ?
OMG! Finally I've found someone reporting the same issue! My situation is a bit different, but the result is the same as yours. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F), and here are a few things worth noting:
I flashed the latest Pie-based firmware for the LUX-region from updato.com through ODIN
I flashed twrp-3.3.0-0-starlte.img.tar through ODIN
I tried flashing both no-verity-opt-encrypt-samsung-1.0.zip and no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip, and I flashed RMM-State_Bypass_Mesa_v2.zip
I did not flash a custom kernel
Finally, I flashed Magisk v19.2.zip
Everything seemed to work just fine (during my limited time on Pie), but I encountered the same weird behaviour as you when trying to set up my fingerprint. If I dared to reboot my phone after that, it got stuck in some weird loop where the SIM unlock screen will show for a split second, and then turn off again for a moment. That pattern was repeated continuously, and sometimes it rebooted itself. I could basically not get back into my phone.
Please, PLEASE, tell me you've figured this out!? Or if not you, then somebody else. For now, I've restored the backup I made through TWRP prior to flashing Android Pie, so I'm back to a rooted version of Android Oreo. I'll probably stay there unless I have a solution for this problem, cause I just can't see myself using my phone without root access.
The joys of being a power user...
Same problem
I'm using a Samsung S9 (SM-G9600) and my rooting process was quite the same as yours. Phone works just fine, but I can't seem to set any kind of lock screen (including fingerprints, which forbids me from using fingerprint unlock on other apps too).
It's Samsung security stuff, you'd have to remove it to be able to use security again.
As to what exactly you need to remove, I'm not really sure.
Anyone got any updates? I got the same problem. I tried removing the *.key files in twrp to reset the Pin. It does work and it resets the pin asking for a new one but when i set it to 0000 and try to register a fingerprint it says the pin is incorrect.

Wifi not functioning after flashing Lineage Os14

Hi everybody, excuse me because i'm a newbie.
After many tries, i have been able to flash a new rom on my Galaxy J320FN (if uou are interested on the method and toos that i used :
Install Twrp 3.0.2 (the only one i have been able to download using Odin, all the other newer releases seemd good downloaded but in the reboot were replaced by original Samsung recovery).
After the install of Twrp i followed the procedure, cleaning data, cache and flashing Lineage OS214 and in a second moment the Gapps package.
The phone is much more better than with old Android 5.1 originally installed and everything works fine except the Wifi.
I can see all the ssids near to me but when i try to connect i can see that the devices makes many tries (i see Connecting) and after a while writes (Saved).
The tries continue and while the device says Connecting i see a toast message (Password may be incorrect) but the password is good because with the same password i connect with my notebook.
I have googled and i found someone that had my same simptoms after flashing Lineage Os214, in some cases one of them solved with some tips in developer section, in other cases , changing the Country in the advanced section of the wifi Menu, but noone of these solutions worked for me.
Is there someone that can help me to solve the problem ?
Another question, is Lineage Os14 the newer rom for my Galaxy SMJ320FN ?
Same here!
