bought an s21+ from swappa and received a "Live Demo Unit" - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

Everything seems to function normally, whats the difference and should I keep it or return it to the seller?

If they sell it as a normal device, yes you should return it.
A live demo unit is not the same as a normal retail version.

Will do. What is the difference though? Everything seems to function.

The demo units are sent to stores to let customers play with the phones. They're not display units, but rather "live" units kept locked up, when the store only has dummy phones out on the floor.
Either way, this is most likely stolen, and definitely NOT worth your money, especially when you were expecting a retail unit. Return/refund and buy from someone better.

Where is the best place to buy a GSII?

I know the US model is coming out VERY soon but I really want to get this phone. Right now I am an infuse owner and was looking to just buy this outright since I used my upgrade on the infuse a couple months ago. Where do you guy recommend me ordering one? Or the one that seems to be the most reliable? I was looking at amazon and a few other site but just cant decide. Thanks in advance!
Amazon. Nowhere will you get a warranty (aside from Expansys USA which offers mail in warranty back to the UK).
Plus with Amazon, my box was sealed and I got a Brazilian model that's one of the first to get 2.3.4.

Was that ordered directly from amazon, or from a 3rd party store fulfilled by amazon?
Also, they have used-like new galaxy s2 for $629.99, that qualifies for SquareTrade.

Directly from Amazon (i.e. "ships from and sold by Amazon.com"). I'm not fond of resellers for unlocked phones. I once ordered a Nexus S I9020A (for AT&T's network) from a reseller on Amazon. Sure enough, I received an I9023 (European model - not compatible with AT&T). I promptly returned it. I just trust Amazon direct and don't like rolling the dice with 3rd part sellers.
Careful on the open box...I ordered an open box SGSII from Amazon and received a friggin Verizon phone (used and beat up). Some jerkoff stole the SGSII and returned the box with a Verizon phone in it. See my photo on the product listing.
I have never ever had any issues with Warehouse deals (open box) items from Amazon, but got burned pretty bad with that one. The good news is Amazon kindly credited my account for the return and even gave me a $50 credit, making a brand new SGSII the same price. Can't ask for more than that.
I bought my gs2 from Popular Electronics, who is based in Chicago. I live in Canada. Interesting experience with these guys. They have their store warranty, which is useful. I'm not sure how long that warranty is for. They ship free to the US too. Right now, the phone is cheaper than the one on Amazon. Plus, they have a "Low price guarantee" and will match any other prices anyway.
I'm from Canada. My first phone gs2 (brand new, fully sealed with seal sticker) was defected (hardware, touch screen didn't work lol). I called them and they gladly helped me with a replacement phone. I had to pay to ship it to them though 2nd phone, another hardware defect (line of dead pixels). Once again, it was brand new and fully sealed. They couldn't believe that of all the customers they've sold the gs2 to, I was the unlucky one to have 2 faulty phones. They took that one back too and sent me my current gs2 which runs perfectly smooth. If you call them, ask for Tahal (possibly spelled as Taha) He is the man!

Yep, that is my photo. Imagine how pissed I was when I got home, ripped the box open only to discover that...
As usual, Amazon made it right. It does piss me off that someone swapped it and made off with a SGSII. They probably paid like $100 on craigslist for that Verizon junk. Punk.

Curious need some opinions... buy used or not to buy used?

As stated in title, I wanna buy a prime tablet from amazon but their prices are ridiculous at the moment. The only one close to the average 499$ price tag are the used ones.
With all the problems I've been reading about this tablet, I still feel drawn to testing my luck.
The main reason I want to use Amazon is for the "billmelater" option. March is a very heavy birthday filled month in my family so I wont have the actual cash till around may.... I don't want to wait until may.
Also, if i have to start with the sending back n forth process because of light bleeds, reboots, etc etc how is the process with Amazon.com? Is it a headache?
Thanks in advance for everyone's opinion on the matter. I want to make a purchase soon so it can come tomorrow hahaha I want to play with this tablet asap.
Why not just get it new at Officedepot.com? If you order now you will receive it by "Estimated Delivery Date: 02/10/2012." Just checked for you That's where I ordered my Prime. I have no issues whatsoever No wifi/BT fallouts. GPS works great!

If you buy a used prime at $499, your not looking hard enough. But if you really want a prime here is one at jr.com:
Asus Prime Jr.com
Or go to your local BestBuy and tell the sale's clerk you want place an "OMS order SKU: 4038674" theyll ask for a mode of payment and ask you if you want if you are picking up at the store or home delivery in about a week. Even if they are out of stock at BestBuy the "OMS" will check the one of the warehouse of Bestbuy and get you one.

Because I want to pay with "Bill Me Later" so I can pay in installments or all at once within 6 months without interests rates. I don't have the option of dishing out ~550$ TODAY. Not sure what you're trying to say but it seemed like "if they are selling it this close to release...." which I agree that's why im extremely hesistant. But I don't understand why the Amazon prices are so incredibly high when they are supposed to be the cheaper online stores.
I'd wait or try to find another means of paying for one new somewhere else.

The reason is that those aren't being sold by Amazon, they're being sold by other companies THROUGH Amazon's storefront. They're basically what you would find if you went to eBay--third parties selling them at a premium because demand continues to outstrip supply.

Amazon doesn't control the prices for their third party vendors. Amazon just controls the prices where Amazon is the seller. As previous poster pointed out, other vendors use the Amazon storefront, which is the case here. When Amazon sells the Prime, Amazon prices it at $499.

I'm not sure how many TFP's have been returned, but its possible factory refurbed TFP's might be available soon at a discount. If you can wait a month, you might get a good deal.

Just to be perfectly clear, these higher-priced units are NOT being sold by Amazon, and Amazon is NOT setting the prices on them. They're being sold by 3rd parties at whatever price those 3rd parties want to sell for. Again, it's like eBay, only through Amazon's equivalent (pretty much anyone can sell things through Amazon).
When Amazon ITSELF has the Prime in stock, they sell it at the standard retail price ($499 for 32GB, $599 for 64GB).

International warranty if bought from staples?

Hi,
I live in Denmark, and i am trying to get a hold of a 32gb Nexus 10. I am considering ordering it from the US staples.com and having a friend bring it from the US. My only concern is the warranty, ie. where would i have to send it if there is something wrong with it? its not a problem sending it to a place in the EU, but it would be problematic (ie expensive as hell) to get it back to the US.
I have tried ordering it in the UK, but the play store does not like my danish credit card, and besides the 32gb one is sold out currently.

From Malmö you might get bit cheeper (4995,- sek) than UK but naturally doesn't beat US with 'hand bag' shipping :victory:
Malmö distributor handled warranty issue but took 1,5 months, Swedish law covers the warranty returning fees also but UK doesn't.
Mine were 2 out of 2 faulty ones so your friend better check units in the store.

Hmm, €542 (Handtec.Co.uk) is pretty expensive compared to the ~€449 in the UK play store (+shipping, but still). The US price is €370 + taxes.

There are certainly advantages to buying it in the EU, but now a days international warranty is quite common, hence my question. I don't have many options for buying it in the EU without paying alot more than the UK Google Play price due to the issue with using an international credit card.
I also have to keep in mind that i could easily get an iPad (which has international warranty as far as i have been able to tell) brought back from the US instead for $599 ~ €444. I am not about to pay more for the Nexus 10 than for an iPad

I am not sure backlight bleed would bother me much, i am mostly interested in a tablet as way of browsing and reading technical literature (books/papers) and comics I guess backlight bleeding is mostly a concern when watching movies which i would only do when on a flight etc.
Even if the backlight bleeding is annoying, i can probably sell it pretty easily here in denmark, I am more concerned about the buzzing you mentioned or it simply being broken. Perhaps i can get my friend to power it up before bringing it.
I am however still unclear on the international warranty. I am not even sure who has the warranty here? Is it Samsung, Google or only staples?
Im from Denmark too and have got a friend to pick one up in walmart for me. I'll get it within the next few days.
I've been looking at the warranty terms posted on the google play store:
Google Play store said:

During the warranty period described in the Device Specific Addendum, if the Device is or becomes defective through no fault of your own, please contact Google Play Support. Subject to the Device warranty, Google, in its sole discretion, may offer a replacement Device or may refer you to the applicable manufacturer of the Device for warranty support. The question is whether the replacement can only occur in the same country as you bought it in. I am also not sure the warranty is the same when its not purchased at the google play store.
Just discovered this thread:

Sounds like there isn't any international warranty.

US Preorder???

Has anybody heard anything about preordering this in the US market?
I was going to get a Z3 Tablet Compact at the end of this month, but, if the price rumors are true, the Z4 Tablet will have a release price about the same to $50 more than the Z3TC is currently selling for. Why spend full price on a tablet when the next model comes out in a couple/few months for about the same price and has much better specs (or being able to get the current model at a reduced price when this releases)?
I have been searching for the this for the last month. As far as I can tell the US has to wait till July.
Price isnt the decision factor here, you need to consider the size you want. I had the xperia z2 tablet (10 inch screen) and it was too overwhelming, it was heavy and big. Though it was pleasing to the eyes i find it difficult to carry it around. Just few days ago, i sold it and purchased the Z3TC.
in the end, its really your choice, 10 inch tablets are just not for everyone.
Any update?

Please let us know when/how it comes in. I saw a few on eBay from Taiwan and was leery about the low feedback count.
Don't waste your time and risk your money on eBay. Expansys is already selling the LTE version for $700 including shipping. For another $35, they'll extend the warranty they provide from six to 18 months. (With their warranty, if Sony USA refuses to cover the device, Expansys will return it to the country from which it came, handle the warranty repair for you, and then return it to the USA once more.)

I got the tablet in yesterday and I love it. The battery and display is fantastic. I took notes on LectureNotes, at full brightness and recorded for 3 and a half hours and still had 75%. My only major issue is the remote play (main reason I got the tablet). It seems that it runs once after the initial setup. If I restart the device it gives me error code 88001003 and exits the app. I think it occurs because the tablet is unlocked. Huge bummer and I'm thinking about returning it and waiting for it to come in the US at the end of the month.
Edit: I removed SuperSU and everything is okay now. Unlocked was not the issue.

buying it in ebay from south korea

Hey all ,
I want to buy this watch and I noticed many sells on eBay from south korea.
watch has a very good price and according to the list it should work fine in my country as far as bands.
also asked the seller if I'll get FOTA updates and he said that yeah.
so my question is , can anyone think on other reasons why I shouldn't buy it from there?
sell for example : http://www.ebay.com/itm/321576361962
Thanks for your help
On the side of pessimistic, I'm always very careful about ordering anything from overseas. Mainly cuz what if something goes wrong???
Once i ordered a fairly expensive HD IP Cam from Asia, and when it arrived it was clearly a fake. The worse case I know of, is a co-worker that ordered an Galaxy
S5 from Korea at a great price.
After a few weeks, weird things began happening.
By utilizing a few sites that specialize in spotting fakes, he would've never been able to tell that he got taken and bought a cheap clone. And the kicker of this story, the fine print in the con's listing forced ebay to rule in his favor.
So overall, try to order products from US vendors and be sure to read the description in its entirety.
Sorta like the guy that bought a picture of a gold iPhone for big $$$, cuz he didn't read (or maybe doesn't know how).
Good luck!!!

I think that for hige-end devices such as this it would be very easy to spot a fake product , for example , curved screen is not something that every manufacturer can make.
and as you said , ebay buyer protection plan can always save you.
in addition there's the whole feedback system that if you know how to work with you can figure within 2-5 minutes of investigation if the seller is reliable or not.
my main concerns are about the version of the watch , will all apps work on it etc.

Don't be so sure on the looks alone. Take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/gear-s-150-t3001480
First off. This model won't work in the US.
There are a lot of different versions of the GS... Each for a different segment of the world. I would do some 2G/3G/4G frequency research on the model you're buying and the provider you'll be using it with. Also, make sure it's factory unlocked... Trying to get it unlocked from another country would near impossible.

so my question is , can anyone think on other reasons why I shouldn't buy it from there?
sell for example : http://www.ebay.com/itm/321576361962
Thanks for your help

I did buy mine from Korea, and I'm from the UK. The problem is that you got to pay import charges, that will be 50.
it is the original samsung gear s with sim/wifi. the other problem is because its from Korea the navigation is not there on the watch all thou i updated it through samsung kies3 app.

I see , well yeah , I figured that since I have the risk of having to pay import charges I better cancel the order before the seller ship it.
This is what I did.

it's more or less the same price when you calculate it. if you buy it from your country or import it/ the charges will add up like you brought it locally.

wow, so you might as well buy it on ebay for 200/import charges will be about 55...total you pay will be 255....ho yeah paypal take about 9 charge to send the payment overseas, so the new total is£264,still cheaper than £336.
Buy it if you don't mind the trouble and long delivery time.
