TWRP and M31 stock - Samsung Galaxy F41 Guides, News, & Discussion

A while ago I was checking the stock rom of the F41, and I discovered something curious, the PIT file of the F41 is the same as the PIT of the M31, it took a while but I finally confirmed my theory, the stock rom of the M31 works on our device !
In theory, the custom VBMETA and custom recovery made for the M31 should work and to my surprise, yes, they do! all you need to do is flash the rom stock of the M31, and then follow the step by step installation of twrp on the M31 page on the XDA.
So far I have not noticed bugs in this stock and the device is even lighter, good luck!

Thats really good news, so custom roms for m31 should also work on f41 right? as m31 has pixel experience and lineage

exactly, everything works correctly, what works for one, works for the other, but I still don't know anything about Pixel Experience and Lineage for the M31, where did you see about it?

Dude, there IS a tutorial on how to flash treble GSIs! You're just not willing to use a simple thing like GOOGLE!
https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
Now, from what I read here is that a perquisite is that you don't have a patched boot/ramdisk aka a rooted phone.
If you have a rooted phone, you're going to have to install a fresh, unmodified kernel (boot.img) and then try it
I'll give it a try and try to post back results. I'm not familiar with how project treble works, but I doubt it's as easy as it sounds
@ShaDisNX255 plz share the result. I too have a Galaxy J6 and wanted to have an AOSP based rom in it. If u succeed, plz post it here. Not a big fan of Touchwiz.
hmm i failed myself, tried system-180818-arm-aonly-gapps.img without succes.
1. i've installed TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-2-0-galaxy-j6-on6-t3819751
2. install Resurrection Remix ARM A Only Devices (system-180818-arm-aonly-gapps.img)
3. on system image
4. reboot
result endless reboot
Samsung probably went out of their way to make it harder.
Too busy to experiment myself but from my first tests I didn't get it to work.
Oh well, so much for "Project treble making it easier"
lol

It's fairly easy to debloat using something like Super R's kitchen.
Why would you buy a J6 if you hate Touchwiz?
There are waaaaay better options that have closer to stock Android experiences than a Samsung phone

Lol that's the issue. Got the phone from my parents. Never would've bought this myself. I like AOSP based roms. Yeah i know its easy to debloat but i just count it as a con of toucwiz(weird as it may be). So here i'm scratching my head and looking all round the internet to find a possible way to turn this to my liking. 4pda also gave negative results, so replying to some recently created threads seemed like my last resort. Btw have u found a working GCAM port for this phone. Tried 6-7 ports but none of them even got installed.

I think the problem is with TWRP cause i read in some other threads that u need some vendor partition enabled( or sthng like this) TWRP to flash Pie GSIs. Not sure if im right or wrong. But this is the first thing that comes to mind.

Project Treble - GSI Roms after Pie update

So we have official 9.0 update now, which means we have pie vendor installed our devices.
However, it seems non of GSI pie roms work on xz1 even though our vendor and kernel are working properly with pie firmware.
Is there anyone successfully installed 9.0 GSI rom after the official Pie update? Or is there any idea why they don't work?

everything is working fine on GSI 9.0 pie roms but if u need gcam, flash on aosp boot and vendor(because full camera2api and raw support), on stock blobs gcam doesnt work because there is no raw support on stock.

Thanks to your support, I've got finally found a working rom(Pixel Experienced Rom)! Maybe I think the roms I've tried are all sGSI roms that caused bootloops
Now I'm trying to use gcam now, so I've installed pie aosp vendor uploaded in sony open device project(fasboot flash oem ~~~.img). However, it seems it doesn't have problem with booting but gcam still crashes(I think it's cam2api problem). According to your previous comment, it seems I should flash aosp kernel which isn't provided by Sony. So should I manually compile the kernel to make it working?
Sorry for bothering :crying:

flash gsi image and gapps(if gapps not included)

I've never experienced the bug when I used that. Did that happen to your XZ1? Or is it the problem of the other Xperia devices? The biggest problem was that it's too unstable that I can barely use that. The network oftenly disconnects and randomly reboots itself.

Yes,my device is G8342. The wifi bug and battery level bug.
my device couldn't connect to any wifi, but sharing hotspot in 2.4ghz/5ghz was fine.
Screen colors look strange.
Randomly reboot,too.
I don't know any solution.
I only knew the methods to the image step by step from Sony's source.
Maybe we should build the kernel by ourselves
The problem you mentioned about disconnecting network, does it happens on wifi or mobile data?
Sorry, just a quick question has as resurrection remix has a treble room out, has anyone tried it?

Yeah, we should... I'm just a newbie developer, and really sad that we're lack of developers who can help XZ1 users, but I believe one day users make this out together. The dispaly color is because of AOSP's default display color temperature, maybe we can fix this out by touch some configs of kernel

Cosutme rom for op7t pro

Hi Community ,
Hope everyone are doing well.
I'have bought a OP7T Pro that is .... amazing guys :good: but the only problem with me is that i want more costumization, so i was wondring if there is o cosutm rom for it.
when i checked it in xda, i just found 1 omni.
why there is no more rom for this amazing phone ???? why GOD why GOD ???? just kiding.
have a good day everyone ..
Sorry for my bad english
First problem I think is there does not a full TWRP exist.
Definitely because there is no TWRP.
Once it comes, I think the ROMs might be unified for the 7 series, like the kernels.
But yeah, we'll have to wait for TWRP.
Sent from my OnePlus7TPro using XDA Labs
I can't wait guys ?
we really need some features rich custom rom for our device like havoc, evolutionx, bliss. there is a way to flash custom roms like omni do but don't know why devs don't use that way while we wait for twrp. also twrp will take some time, we don't know how long, not for just our device but more and more devices struggle with absence of twrp.
TWRP...sooner the better!
I'm afraid no one knows how development of twrp is going, does developers even work on it?

Of you look on twrp website, there needs to be a lot of alterations and the original twrp creator is on leave for personal reasons for a couple months. If a device dev wants to remanufacture the twrp it would be very difficult for them since it is not just porting and changing IMG destinations

Hi guys, sorry for the delay. The stock 13 GSI was pretty good albeit not perfect. Smoothness was very nice after force enabling 120hz through adb (battery life is notably worse, as you would expect).
Feels just about as smooth as stock, which is pretty good IMO.
This was the stock google build, so no fingerprint or face unlock. I would imagine custom GSIs would fix some of this.
However I eventually returned to stock since I post videos on social media apps a lot, and the generic camera API on the GSI made it pretty bad to look at.
Fun to try out, just wasn't ready for my needs yet.
I also did try to flash the original recovery for PEX like the user above me mentioned, still no dice. I have been out of the Android scene for a few years prior to this so it is probably something I am doing.
Hope this helps, thanks!

Fully working GSI ROM? lmao
Forget such thing, especially on newer devices and especially on Samsung.

I have tested a few of them. Only bugs are fingerprint scanner, Always on display and VoLTE. It can be used as a daily driver if you can live with these bugs. For me it's fine.
which GSI are you using? And which GCAM is working?

@mohammed510
he's using trebledroid's LOS 20 I assume. I'll try it out as well one of these days, and iirc the amazing dev behind it takes requests for adding support to fp scanners, I'll ask him about it

The "Light" version by Andy Yan is the best one for S23U. There's a camera app already included. As for gcam, the one by "Shamim" works but only ultra wide lens. Better use the one included as it has switching between lenses all working.
Bugs are:
AOD
Fingerprint scanner
VoLTE
I think the first 2 can be fixed with Overlays that are flashed using Magisk. It's possible to have a almost 99% working GSI on S23U
You can make phone calls but it will be over 3G networks (not that bad really) and not through 4G as VoLTE still doesn't work
You can easily pass safety net with universal safetynet fix "MOD version" and Google Wallet also works after passing Safetynet

thanks a lot! and may I ask how is the battery life compared to oneUI?
edit: didn't see your new edit, I guess I'll try to follow the guide for making an overlay on github, many thanks.

Battery life is better and phone runs noticeably cooler. Uses much less RAM also
