How to get rid of bloatware on Xiaomi Redmi Note 2

Hi,
I would like to start a new thread - How to get rid of bloatware on Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.
I bought RMN2 at Geekbuying.com and its MIUI is full of bloatware.
When opening a new tab in chrome browser sometimes a second/additional tab opens with new page.
e.g. (global.ymtracking.com/trace?offer_id=106438&aff_id=27742
d2c5yjc1pv3tab.cloundfront.net/apk/10848.apk1 )
redirecting to
phonebooster_546227637488bc7fd512af8a71adab1e.apk
which has ANDROID/Levida.A.Gen Add Ware Virus
I have also observed that some new apps were installed in background.
It is downloading 20150305011920.apk, 20151013045927.apk, 20141230064828.apk and installing Cleanmaster, APUS, UC Mini.
Android Version: 5.0.2 LRX22G
MIUI Version: 66.77.33.00(LHMCNCH) | Stable
How can I get rid of the bloatware?
a) flashing a new MIUI Version - please post a link to an eu version
b) removing infected apps?
I installed the beta miui 7 eu rom. It is great. Just changed the name and used update.
Search the forums for more info.
PS http://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/miui-weekly-rom-releases.103/
Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using XDA Free mobile app
thanx..
downloaded the xiaomi.eu_multi_hermes_5.10.16_v7-5.0.zip
did a full wipe and installed the rom.
now it seems clean.

But 5.10.16 has a battery drain. I turned back to 5.10.8.
For those of us less than expert.........
I bought 2 of these Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Smartphones. Malware, bloatware, battery sucking crap all preloaded and reloaded if I am lucky enough to uninstall it. I have flashed update ROMs from Ulefone and iOcean but this Miui ROM process may be over my head. You guys know of a tutorial site where they step through the process for newbies like me? (I need English, Google, Play Store, etc) thanks, dac

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63454246&postcount=10
TRY " smiui " in google search.
OR go http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-2/development/rom-smiui-rom-kitchen-major-xiaomi-t3225567
Customise to get rid of most xiaomi-ware!
Good luck.
My screen is going double layered when it is cold and when i keep using it,it goes hot and goes all ok again
Noob question: do I download the weekly release ROM and rename it to "update.zip"? Is it that simple? And do I use the factory Mi Recovery to flash the updated rom? Where do I save the file? Into the "download" folder or just into the main internal storage?
Thank you!

The rom is not the real miui rom to my knowledge, you should change to the official rom
Hi everyone. I think bought a cooked phone to (seller echoice2016 on amazon.de, on the bill it said etotalk.com). I also experienced random opening of different tracking websites and I started thinking - I have a credit card attached to my google account and these ****ers could easily install keylogger.
So, ASAP I need to reflash something else. Now, I can't access recovery, all I see is this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzuJV8WP2qMyNUFvSUhja2t0b0k/view?usp=sharing
Any hints, please? I'd also appreciate which ROM to use. I'd like a stable as stock as possible ROM with gapps but without MIUI email, calendar and other nonsense, because I want to use my own aps.
Thanks in advance!
RMN2 bloatware
Hi all
Complete noobie here
Just bought a RMN2 prime (2gb+32gb) which is currently running 5.0.2 LRX22G on MIUI 66.77.55.00(LHMCNCH) | Stable
I am getting so much bloatware and viruses, I need to change the OS.
Should I just download the Hermes (xiaomi.eu_multi_hermes_V7.0.6.0.LHMCNCI_v7-5.0.zip)
rename it as "update.zip"
load it onto my phone
restart (volume up + power)
Wipe
install?
... or is it more complex than that
Any help gratefully received

You can do this, bug after you will be unable to update. So, first install the xiaomi.eu developer rom
Then with flashify install the TWRP Recovery (check on xiaomi.eu the download, it's on the download page, scroll down). Then go to recovery and install the stable rom. After do a wipe data and cache.
You xan do the next updates with TWRP.
If you don't install the developer rom before you can't install the TWRP so you have to install a china developer, install the TWRP, install the update and do a wipe data.

Partner has just got the redmi 2 (8gig version) and has bloatware. can freeze it using titanium and all is well but would prefer a better rom(stock) what is the latest rom and where do we get it from?
Go to xiaomi.eu and go to the weekly ROM section
hi guys i'm a old school android geek that haven't mixed with android phones in some years now so consider me a noob and i have the Redmi note 2 prime 32gb version with spyware in it version miui 70 stable 7.0.99.99 LHFNYUN in android version 5.0.2 LRX22G.
and i wish someone to help me and give me detailed instructions to which rom to download and also how to flash and i need gapps to so please keep that in mind and i'm greatfull to the person that helps me.
i used the windroid program to install TWRP and superSU now so i need to look for a stable rom now to flash if you have any tips please tag me
but i can't say it was easy to use the windroid program to do it i needed the xiaomi pc suit drivers to be able to flash the stuff and i hope this helps other redmi note 2 pro users out there to root.
I'll post my experience with phone and the roms I tried.
I bought it from merimobiles and it came with plenty of Chinese apps, overall pretty annoying... So I installed the development version of miui 7 (china version). Less bloat, but still the ui was a bit laggy sometimes, battery ok. After awhile battery started to drain much quicker, charging was slow and it got warm during usage (browsing).
Then I installed the CM12.1 build 5 from needrom (cyanogenmod-3) There's a thread going on about it.
I am very happy with this build: much faster, charging is "normal", phone doesn't get warm (I don't play games). There are things which don't work (see the discussion on the thread) - e.g. led notification is only red, but they don't bother me, for what I need, it's great.

Miui Stable vs Developer

Hi guys, sorry for this stupid question but after the xiaomi's news about the bootloader re-lock that causes a brick...i'm not sure of anything...so i'im asking this
I bought a mi8 6/64 global version(bootloader locked) so i think that is coming with the global stable.
So if i want to put the global developer can i just download the package from miui website and then install it from.the system update settings on the smartphone without problems?
Like bricks, errors or something weird? ?
If yes...afyer that, can i come back to the global stable without issues?
please just use the search function!!! https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/how-to/please-read-tweaking-mi-8-t3833454

Sorry but i can't find the answer to my question.
Ok for unlocked bootloader and china/global.
Ok for anti rollback for android 8/9.
But my question is about a Mi8 with locked bootlader and Global stable and developer

Over the few months i have seen many Mi 8 owners who tweak their phone end up with a bricked device, of all the cases, a huge majority of them is due to the lack of research and jumping into modifying their phones before fully uinderstanding the situation (I almost made the mistake too, taking for granted that all android phones have minimal restrictions)
There are two things to take note of (especially if you decide to tweak your Mi 8/SE):
1. Xiaomi implemented a policy that prevents relocking of bootloader if you install a Global Rom on a China Variant Mi Phone
What this means: You cannot relock bootloader if your Mi8/SE is a China variant and ou have Global Miui version installed (Developer/Stable)
Common mistake(s):
1. Avoid 'Clean and lock' option when using Mi Flash. Only use 'Clean all' or 'Save user data' option
2. Do not relock your Mi8/SE if you are on Global Beta or Developer or Any MIUI rom that is Global
2. Google implemented a policy that prevents rollback to older Android versions for Android Oreo and above Roms. This is for 'Security' reasons and affects MIUI.
What this means: You cannot rollback to an older Miui version (Below Android 8.0) if you already you are currently on Andorid Oreo (i.e Miui 10) and up.
Common mistake(s):
1. Do not restore an old backup with Miui that has any Android version less than 8.0 from Miui 10 ( Android 8.0)
2. Do not install Miui 9 (Below Android 8.0) after installing Miui 10 (Android 8.0 Above)
*Tip: Ask yourself if the Android version you are about to install is lower than the Android version currently installed, if it is, DO NOT flash it. (Applicable if you are currently on Android 8.0 and up)
Please keep all of this in mind before you start tweaking your phone as you will run the risk of bricking your Mi 8/SE. After which, your Mi 8 becomes a very expensive paperweight. I hope this helps to clear things up for many people! Do know that while I disagree with Xiaomi's new anti-consumer policy, i also feel that it is YOUR responsiblility in your own actions, especially when you decide to modify your device and when you do modify anything (not just phones), there are always risks involved. When in doubt, it does no harm to Google it or just ask around in the forums. Moral of the story: Proceed with caution!
For those already bricked:
1. Contact Xiaomi Customer Service and try obtain edl permission to peform Testpoint fix.
2. Bring your phone to a Mi Store and hope that they can help you with it.
*In the case where my information is wrong, please correct me so that I can update accordingly for the benefit of everyone!
Have a nice day ahead and all the best in your phone tweaking adventures! Hopefully I helped you in clearing things up

I have the bootloader that is locked and i would like to leave it locked.
Then, is it possibile to change rom from GLOBAL STABLE to GLOBAL DEVELOPER without unlocking the bootloader and making other "modding things"?
Then(only if the 2 roms have the same android,so not now) can i switch back from DEVELOPER to STABLE (with locked bootloader and only if they have the same android version)?

I see what you mean, so yours is the global version and you want to flash without unlocking, http://en.miui.com/thread-720781-1-1.html (google search). Yes u can, from my personal experience, upgrading shouldn't require data wipe, but if you downgrade be prepared to wipe data, thats the only drawback, but you can definitely do it without a bootloader unlock using XiaomiTool or Miflash as well. For upgrading to developer just use updater app and select package, if not possible then miflash. Be careful flashing, you shouldnt have any problems as of now as long as you stay away from China rom. Miui roms are all ARB:1 which means ARB not yet activated, so downgrade possible. Have a good day ahead and have fun with your new Mi 8, it is a great phone (apart from the EDL lock **** Xiaomi pulled)

you can switch from global to dev with locked bootloader. Just download the dev of Android 8.1 and install it via settings - choose package, this will format the phone. Then you will get the Android 9 8.11.8 update

Yes,please add it.
Maybe for the "normal" XDA users it's too easy and obvious...but not for me xD
Sorry guys if i bother you again.
But someone just told me that, yes it's possible to change from global stable to global developer but that i should have the same Android version (in this case right now stable is 8 and developer 9).
Otherwise i should unlock the bootloader and then i can switch...
What do you think?
Download http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.9.7/miui_MI8Global_8.9.7_fb7963a71d_8.1.zip and install it via phone updater.
That ROM was the last beta Android Oreo published.
After installing it, you'll receive an OTA update of the current beta ROM 8.11.8 Android Pie.
Done.

Well, first be sure which device you have (curtana or joyeuse), many users are not sure about that cause of the different names for Indian and global versions.
Secondly, it's hard/impossible to say "This is the best ROM out there", cause all have their pros and cons ?
And it also depends what you want...a firmware with MIUI, or without MIUI...with Google apps or without...
And it's good to have also a look on telegram groups, cause there are some devs that don't post their new ROMs here any more.

Joyeuse (I was not aware of the difference hence did not mention it on my post) now that I did some digging I know I have that one.
Without MIUI, the phone I have been using so far is Mi Mix 2S and I really can't see anything on MIUI to recommend it (or like it) and with Google apps. (If I did not want Google apps I would have gone the Huawei route )

MIUI 12 for curtana

Hello.
Has anybody tried fastboot version of MIUI12 for curtana? https://mirom.ezbox.idv.tw/en/phone/curtana/
you can find other version here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/curtana/
Installed and being trying it for 3 days now. Everything works perfectly. For my day to day usage I can't say I've noticed any big differences from MIUI 11 (I was using xiaomi.eu 11.0.11.0). Usage does feel smoother and the battery does last longer, although I have no documented evidence to show. I removed the bloatware as per the 11.0.10.0 guide and I've found no bugs. All in all I'm happy with this ROM.
Edit: Just wanted to meantion the MIUI camera app. There are no added features. No clone mode and no kaleidoscope mode. The only difference from the MIUI 11 camera app is the new MIUI 12 visual.

The fastboot version is installed via MiFlash whilst the phone is in fastboot mode. Use this to flash "as new".
The recovery version is like an OTA update (I think. Never used one).
I don't know which version is better (global vs eea) because I flash as a base for custom roms.
I have the Redmi Note 9s 6/128GB Global Model.
I want to flash the Indian Firmware so I will get the MIUI contacts and dialer (and call recorder).
Can someone please check if the Indian ROM has the HEBREW language, it should look like this:"עברית" under languages.
I will be glad for your help.

Thank you a lot my good friend, I will now flash it
For anyone else wondering, the Turkish fastboot ROM (QJWTRXM) installs fine on a global Note 9S (QJWMIXM). Everything works as far as I can tell, and all the languages are there (though call recording isn't, at least in the default Google Dialer app).

Hey @gde.spencer , can you help me to choose the right firmware?
What is the difference between Recovery and Fastboot? Or do you need both?
Which is the better version Global or EEA?

Recovery is the "OTA" ROM you install with MIUI's built-in update mechanism or a custom recovery like TWRP. Fastboot is a bit more low-level, you restart your phone into fastboot mode, connect it to a computer and use a program that manually overwrites the data on the phone's partitions, a bit like using dd on Linux or disk cloning/backup software. There's also EDL mode, which is the same as fastboot but it's built into the hardware itself, so it works even if you manage to brick fastboot somehow. On recent Xiaomi phones, it requires an authorized Mi account (or a patched ROM, or someone willing to sell you authorizations over the internet).
Global and EEA are pretty much the same thing, but EEA ROMs are intended for the European Economic Area (the EU) so they have to comply with additional regulations like having to let you choose your browser and search engine or something. As a side note, I live in the EU and pretty much every store over here is selling the Global variant of the 9S instead of the EEA one. Global ROMs are "better" in the sense that they tend to be more up to date (as of me writing this, global is on MIUI V11.0.11 and EEA is still stuck on V11.0.4).

Question DJI Mic compatibility

Hello all,
I am on TLFEUXM 14.0.8.0 and have some issues with the DJI Mic compatibility.
The DJI Mic has USB-C and is set to stereo. When I am in video mode (standard camera app com.android.camera 4.5.002440.0) in pro mode and the DJI Mic is NOT plugged in, the audio recorded is stereo. I can see the bars of the VU-meter move independently.
When I plug in the DJI Mic, the audio recoreded is mono, although the DJI Mic delivers stereo output.
I also tried a 3rd party camera, but the audio is mono.
The DJI Mic works flawlessly with a Xiaomi Mi10T Pro (Miui 13) and a Pixel 6 (Android 13).
According to Xiaomi customer support it is a software problem and that I should wait for an update
Maybe some one here has some more detailed insights, if it is a Miui 14 issue or and specific Xiaomi Android issue. Or maybe customer support does not know it better and it is a hardware issue after all?
Cheers

"According to Xiaomi customer support it is a software problem and that I should wait for an update"
Surely since the 14.0.8.0TLFEUXM is a Mi Pilot.
Hello,
thank you. What exactly does "Mi Pilot" mean?

Test roms(Mi pilot) made available for those who wish to test and normally this requires registration.
That's the theory but in reality Xiaomi updates them on the stable channels, same thing with the stable beta or public beta.
It started a few years ago and despite the protests issued by users who found themselves with bricks, today nothing has changed.
And sometimes with a Mi pilot you get stuck on it, update impossible.
Hello,
thank you. I was on 14.0.7.0 when I got the information I should wait for a new version. That is why i upped to 14.0.8.0.
So 14.0.8.0 is sort of a stable/beta/but not official version and chances are I won't be able to update to the upcoming official release? Is there a stock rom for the 12T Pro with MIUI 13?
cheers

The latest stable is V14.0.7.0.TLFEUXM.
If the bootloader is not unlocked, you will not be able to downgrade or install another rom.

With the bootloader unlocked, I advise you to install a Xiaomi Eu rom, more options than stocks, play store certified.

But if you want to stay on a stock, install a global.
Hello,
thank you for your input. So if I install Xiaomi EU Rom and the DJI Mic still does not work 100% with the Mi 12T Pro then I can post that as a bug with the creators of this EU Rom?
Cheers

Did you install a stable or Weekly?.
The xiaomi Eu rom is based on the stock rom and is not modified at this level, the bug comes from Xiaomi.
Hello,
i did not install anything, wait time for unlocking is not over yet.
As far a Xiaomi goes, customer support is not very helpful and I am a little torn wether to downgrade to MIUI 13 only to find out that it is a hardware issue after all
How can i find out if 14.0.8.0 TLFEUXM is out of "Mi Pilot" status and now official?
Thanks for your support.
Cheers

He won't publish it with the same name.

Try a Xiaomi EU weekly, the most advanced since based on CN firmware.
Either way, unlocking will erase your data.
Hello,
thanks for your advice I am fully aware of that And since I reset the phone to factory defaults twice in the last 2 weeks, all images/videos reside in a cloud solution and apps in use are reduced to a absolut minium.
Xiaomi EU weekly is based on the original 14.0.8.0 from Xiaomi, correct? So I assume the problem will still be present in the EU weekly. I think I use the weekend to make up my mind what to do.
Thank you so much for your input.

Hello,
after doing a lot of reading weekly and stable forum I think I live with BLE bug and incompatibility with DJI Mic.
@NOSS8 Thank you for answering a lot of my questions I will post it here, when Xiaomi has fixed the DJI Mic incompatibility.
