Seems like over the past week or two, I am routinely getting errors when sending texts. Sometimes it is an MMS, other times a text to a single recipient.
Sometimes it happens, other times not. Happens on Wifi, and when in data.
If I reboot, it usually fixes it, but only for a short while.
it happens with both the Samsung Messages app, as well as the Google app.
Any ideas that don't involve hard reset of the phone? No other issues, just texts...

Having the same issue here. It seems to have appeared with this last update and is now occuring about every other text (outgoing only). I have so far been able to "tap to retry" and it sends after that but the fact that its even happening at all makes me hate this phone even more.

I went back to the Samsung messaging app and it seemed more reliable, but I just installed the latest updates a week or so ago, and now the Google Messages app seems to be working properly again...
mine is doing the same thing. makes me want to throw it at a wall. circle just spins and i get a failed . resend works . i have have cleared the cache partition tried chomp and other texting programs including the samsung and they all fail. but not all the time very annoying when you think a message went out that important and half hour you look at your phone to see why they didnt respond and it failed. anyone have any ideas? thanks

I'm getting tired of this annoying problem. Four times it had happened to me and each time I reinstalled the phone software with the pc companion. It doesn't matter whether I'm not rooted (the first two times) or rooted. It kept on occurring. SMSes don't come in while others seem to be working fine, phone, internet, etc. I've tried restoring the sms related things using titanium back up but yet it seemed that the only remedy is reinstalling. Thought this time, I got an idea of may cause this. Each time it happened, I seem to be coming out from plane mode for the second time since the software installation. Going to try that now. But in the mean time, any ideas what may be wrong or if any of you experience the same problem?
Hi, i've had the same pb, it seems coming from lack of memory, if you got the little hard drive icon with the red exclamation dot, it means you don't have enough space free, and sms aren't received. So the solution, after all, is to desinstall some of your apps to get rid of that icon and finally a little test is to, when you've done that, send a sms to yourself and see if it works again.

Well that's a huge possibility as each time it happens, that warning has pop out. But I'm sure each time the warning of low storage come on, it still has at least 10 mb. How can 10 mb not enough for texts?
Well i don't really know maybe some configuration, but i can assure you that it is one of the cause: i did a simple test, on the edge of 10mb i installed an app from the market, then the icon showed up and no sms could be received. after desinstall that same app, icon disappear, and sms was received.
I just noticed it so i try to always have this 10mb amount of memory... i just do with it, maybe someone who understands better how it works could help more than me
i have different problem. after root i cat receive nor send MMS.. working like charm without root. x10mini, 2.1 firmware.

I have a problem with my SGS2 : Push notifications (Gmail, chrome-to-phone...) work when I just started the phone, but then they stop working after a few minutes.
Then if I reboot it works fine again, and stops working 20 minutes later.
I'm running XWKE2, rooted, and I have frozen a bunch of samsung apps with Titanium backup. Does anyone have any idea where it might come from ?

OK, I'm now on XWKE7 rooted and I kept all the samsung apps but nothing changed, I still can't rely on push notifications at all (sometimes they work fine, most of the time not at all, and sometimes they arrive late).
Also, and I think it is linked, Gtalk doesn't really work either : It will show all my contacts as offline when they're obviously not, and sometimes when I send a message to a contact (s)he will suddenly appear as online, or my message never gets sent. Same for messages sent to me, sometimes they work and sometimes they get lost.
It happens on Wifi, 2G or 3G.
I'm going back to my Nexus One for now but it's hard... The screen seems really small now that I'm used to the SGS2 ^^
Still no solution... Any idea ?
Google Voice sometimes freezes when I send an SMS. It will show "sending...", with the down arrow showing on the right side. Then, the app will cease to function.
The message will have actually sent, but Google voice hangs as described. Pressing the back button does nothing, and there is a long pause between hitting the home button and it returning to the home screen.
Going back into the program leaves it right where it left off, with the sending message and the arrow. I cannot return to my inbox or any other label.
The only way to fix this is to close the Google Voice App via task manager and reopen it. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?
I have tried reinstalling it form the Marketplace and rebooting my phone. Neither resolved the issue.
try to uninstall and re-intall... clean all the cash and data

i've had this happen with every rom i've had on my note, even stock.. i think its a problem on google's end becuase my sensation does it too (not nearly as often) . time will tell
I've been having that same issue. Quite annoying since I'm relying on GV for texting to avoid the $20/mo AT&T charge. Even the correctly sent messages seem to lag. The biggest issues seem to be "new conversations" - once I get a few messages back and forth with the same person I don't have any issues or lag, but the first few cause problems it seems.
I am having a weird issue with my LTE involving texts. This morning I restarted my phone and then a little bit later I got a couple text from some friends asking what I was talking about. I went into Handcent and looked at my conversations and found one text, which I sent on 6/5 or 6/6, was either resent or just sent for the first time this morning following the restart of the phone.
I called one of the guys asking him about the message sent to him and he said he never received it when I originally sent it, even though my phone showed it sent successfully.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
this happens to me too. the radios seem to be able to only do one thing, so if while you sending, it needs to reconnect, connect to wifi,3g, or if you get a text, chat, or phone call while the first action is going (sending a text in this case) it seems to just hang. the thing being sent won't finish but looks like hanging forever (I've found some texts like 2 days later still spinning) and whatever the other action was won't come through. I've been told about chats or texts or talks sent to me I never receive if sending something, or usually the thing will hang for like 5 minutes and then I see I voicemail icon pop up and, surprise surprise, it came 5 minutes prior when my txt was hanging(it still is hanging, hangs forever) or a website loading hangs or connecting to wifi that never finishes. something about how this thing handles multitasking is just rubbish.
I think it has something to do with the way switching back to browser reloads the page, switching back to gmail reloads the composing page, switching back to angry birds forgets your pause and restarts the game, basically,I think they borked the multitasking somehow. sense itself reloads, quite embarrassing when trying to show off the phone, when you press home button from certain apps.
I've read if you flash a custom rom, it fixes all this. seems drastic to me, you'd think a hack would fix this.
In the last day or so many push notifications have stopped working or only randomly work. Also a couple days ago i had to clear play store as i couldn't install a few apps. I am on Ls992 zv4, holding off on updating joint for root. I will open gmail and sometimes be messages will pop in after a few seconds and sometimes i have to manly refresh and the messages will have a receive till of several hours ago. Sometimes i will get push notifications grim Facebook sometimes not. Another app I'm having problems with is Remind. I won't get push notifications but when i open it there is a new message there. Another issue i have it's the phone now randomly hangs and has locked up several times. I think the only time it has locked up was while using hangouts for video chat. Also since almost day one watching videos on YouTube or web browser videos will freeze while audio keeps going. If you pause the video it may play for 1 second or 30 before it does it again. And the phone can lock up for several second too when this happens. Its like the processor gets backed up and everything at once. Resetting the phone fixes the video and hanging issues for a short time but it will come back. Again i wasn't too concerned about the video issue at first going for root and costumer to fix the issue, but that looks doubtful now. Anyone else have any of these and a fix?
