I hardly use mine to be honest. I thought I would more. But they can be picked up cheap enough on eBay. And they can wake the screen with a double tap, unlike a finger.

It's worth it if you actually use it as intended...taking notes, mark ups on pictures, etc. The main gripe I had with it was the fact that there was no place on the phone to put the pen. There is a third party case that has a pen slot, but it's a pretty big case and it's pretty cheaply made.

Pen/Stylus Combo?

I'm currently looking for a pen/mechanical pencil/stylus combo. I bought one about a year ago that i used with my magician from Fry's but it broke after 2 weeks use. I'd prefer one that allows quick and easy switching between them, or if possible one with the stylus on the top of the pen. I currently use the eraser on my mechanical pencil while during work as a stylus but its fat and a bit hard to use at times.
So any suggestions?
Lamy makes multifunction pens: http://www.lamy.de/

Thanks guys, i guess i'll go with a Cross or Pilot as they're reputable companies. Hopefully the quatily will be better than that crappy $9.99 multi-pen I used to have.

The best pen/encil/stylus I have ever used is Rotring Trio or Quattro. They're expensive, but they last. Unless, you lose it. I've had my Quattro for over 10 years. Still functions perfectly.

Cheap stylus pen

Hi all,
Pretty simple request here. I'm looking for a stylus pen that I can use with my Transformer. That is, a pen, with a rubber - or whatever it is - bit at the top, so that I can flip the pen around and tap away.
Reason is, 99% of the time, I have one or more pens in my pocket for college, so I'd like to have the option to use them as styli(?) as well.
Sounds simple, but I haven't had much luck in finding one. Main thing here is price. I want them to be cheap enough that I could order a few and loose one without caring too much. (~$3-4 each)
No-one has looked into this before? I can't be the only one out there interested.
Here you go-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081199
Hey, been thinking of buying a few of these, seems to be perfect. Take a look around the site though, that have some 2 in 1 types thats double as an actual pen, and smaller ones that can hang from the headphone jack. Keep in mind it will take a few weeks for the order to get to you, but it will be worth the wait.
I have bought some neat stuff from them before, you get what you pay for but the stylus above looks to be a great deal.
Edit:
Found that 2 in 1, a little more expensive but is what you actually wanted.
I never even thought of looking on DX... Thanks very much!

Best capacitive stylus?

I've been researching on amazon, YouTube and etc for a good stylus for my future prime. Since I never purchase a stylus before and have no clue which to get can you guys recommend me a good one? From personal experience...
Jot Pro and iFaraday
I myself have done ton of research and it came down to those 2.
Jot Pro if you want take notes and want to be very accurate.

Take a look at this video of the Jot:

iFaraday if you want to draw and multipurpose.

Thanks i'm interested in the iFaraday but it seems like they aren't taking any order till the 19th. Which one have you tired diesel?
I just received my Jot Pro yesterday and so far I am liking it a lot more than any other stylus on the market (and I have tried quite a few). Very accurate, and feels great in your hand.
My only grip is that I wish it had a clip to 1) keep it from rolling off the table if you forget to "dock" it with the magnet, and 2) so it could better sit/clip to a shirt pocket.
Aside from that minor annoyance, it is a quality stylus.

I don't have them yet but I have tried them from my buddy I have to say if you combine the Jot with the iFaraday then you have the perfect stylus.
I'm planning on buying both.
The Jot for super accurate writing/drawing and the iFaraday for multipurpose, browsing, etc.

I really hope you can. If so then I'll be ordering a jot pro too.
I feel like this would have to be written specifically into whatever app you're writing on-- ignoring the first thing if multiple touches are registered or something along those lines.

^^^true, I've been looking at note taking apps and haven't seen any that would do such...I've seen reviews for these styli and their hands are suspended....how long can one write like that? I plan to do some serious note taking with this thing, like hour long meetings...the OG transformer has a note taking app thats pretty good right?
I would like ot have this functionality, but am worried about the multi touch thing. On this I think I will wait for a few reviews of the note taking before I grab a stylus. Someone who has a stylus, or more specifically the Jot, put up a review on how it works with the Prime please once you get it.

I have read an article that said that palm canceling was baked into ICS along with other stylus features, some of which will require hardware.
I hope it ends up working like it does when using a digitizer.....how I wish the prime had digitizer hardware! Per pixel accuracy and no palm/hand issues, along with erasing.

I would be careful with those. Friend got a cheap capacitive stylus for his phone, and it's sticking to the screen. I bought a fancier one (kingston I think), and while I have my complaints, it glides MUCH better on the screen.
I am looking into Jot Pro, since I am not a very big fan of "eraser writing tip"
Writepad has palm rejection. Also for other apps - hide your palm in your sleeve so it doesn't register as touch.

I'd cancel your Boxwave order and get the jot pro. Yes it can be noisier, but it writes 100x better. SMOOOTH and accurate. Seriously, there is no comparison between the two.
Does anyone have the Jot or Jot Pro stylus, and if so, have you had any issues with scratches on the screen or diminished accuracy after a few weeks of use.
Is there any metal that protrudes from the plastic disc that could scratch the screen?
I have seen several comments in other places where people have said the Jot stylus has scratched their display (Amazon has a commentor that has posted a photo of the scratches caused). And I have read that the accuracy is not as good after a few weeks use.
I have done some research and contacted the manufacturer (which replied very quickly). The explanation seems to be that dirt on the screen can cause the scratches and that the plastic tip can get loose/worn out. Apparently there may have been some defective tips early on.
*****
This is an excerpt from my email to Adonit:
I really want to buy a Jot Pro but I am apprehensive to spend $30 if it is
going to scratch my screen, or if it is not going to work as well after a
couple weeks of use. These issues seem to be common in review comments I
have read online.
I read one review comment that said there is "a metal protrusion in the
center of the disk. It’s very noticeable." I thought the disk was plastic.
If there is a metal protrusion I can see how it could scratch the screen...
Have these issues been resolved since the Jot and Jot Pro were first
introduced? If so, what has been done to resolve the problem?
I have a tablet with gorrilla glass (Asus Transformer Prime) on order, but
even with gorilla glass, I don't want to chance scratching up my brand new
tablet.
Please advise. Thanks!
*****
And this is their reply:
We have tested our product extensively, and the precision disk has proven to be very safe, even after prolonged use.
However, a sharp piece of sand or grit pressed very firmly between the Jot disc and the screen will probably scratch it, so take care to maintain a clean iPad screen. If the screen is not clear of debris, it will become scratched with the use of any stylus, or even just your finger.
We don't want you to worry, so if you think it will be a problem for you, we highly recommend that you use a screen protector to protect your screen from environmental dust and grit. Please be aware that Jot does not work well with the following screen protectors, due to their extra grip surface.
* Zagg Glossy Invisible Shield (but Smudge-Proof Invisible Shield works well)
* Ghost Armor
* Bodyguardz
* Skinomi
* Wrapsol
Glossy protectors are the least compatible with the Jot. We suggest looking at the Power Support Anti-Glare screen protector; we've heard that it works brilliantly with the Jot.
We are here if you have any further questions.
*****
Anyway, I thought the info in Adonit's reply would be useful regarding screen protectors, etc and I really would love to hear from Jot or Jot Pro owners regarding their experiences with it.

best stylus for use with the prime

I am looking for the best stylus for use with the prime. I read the best stylus was the 'jot pro' so i bought it and i am not at all satisfied with it. I can write better with my finger in the asus note app.
its also really awkward to write with, with the disc an all.
What is a better alternative?
This one is very good in my opinion, since it works at any angle to the surface unlike its rubber tip counterparts.

i too bought the jot pro, returned it after 2 days. bought a targus and like it quite a bit better
i bought a bamboo one, am returning it. I'm gonna give the targus a shot.
Anyone know of a stylus that works great with a skinomi screen protector?
Just a heads up guys, after the firmware update, it looks like the jotpro works 10x better. I was about to box it up and return and gave it one more try, its now my favorite..
I have the bamboo one on the way from amazon, I'll see which I like better.
Boxwave,i am currently using this on my ipad.
EDIT:I have changed my mind,i got a free stylus with leather case for my TP from Ebay UK.
that free stylus better than boxwave. unbelievable,i cost more than 10pounds got Boxwave from Amazon UK,but a free stylus from China with high quality better than Boxwave.
Strange, and the idea was to get rid of the stylus hence adding a screen that can handle 10 fingers at once. I still think the stylus is old school technology and I can't find a thing at all why I would need one on my Prime. Now, if you bought your Prime just for taking notes...that's a lot of money just for taking notes.

if you bought the prime for just 1 thing, then its expensive for just one thing. i have a job where i am taking notes in meetings every day. pages and pages. it would be great to have them all filed digitally on my prime.
i didn't buy it just for that, don't be so closed minded, but its something i want to use it for. i can't take pages and pages of notes with my finger.

Who's buying these things just to take notes? That assumption is a bit of a stretch. 10 flailing sausages excel at some things, but lack the precision required for artistic endeavors or scrawling legible text in a timely manner. The stylus persists for the same reason that typing persists in lieu of voice-to-text. None are perfect for every activity/situation.
If anything, someone who uses a stylus with their tablet has the potential to engage in an even broader array of activities than their counterparts.
...and digital notes rawk, btw.

I can echo this report also, my jotpro was 'ok' before the last firmware, but after it is much better, i can actually add it to my workflow. I was also about to send it back.
I tried the bamboo, it doesn't work with the prime very well. Compare it to using on an ipad and you will know what I mean. With the prime you have to press down with so much pressure it feels like it will distort the bamboo tip. And it is very hard to maintain sufficient pressure for it to maintain contact. Ends up making dashed lines instead of solid lines. On the ipad it is smooth as butter.
I'm reading this thread as I'd like to consider using my prime with various sketch progs at work, as well as draw doodles and notes in meetings, pretty cool to just email notes with sketches right from the meeting, very useful, and a nice added feature....what are you guys using your stylus for?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
i use it for software design diagrams, website layout ideas, "chicken scratches" for later real photoshop work
i'm an architect, and in the 1.5 weeks i've had the Prime and a stylus i'm realizing how useful of a tool it can be; sketching, marking up photos from job sites, etc.
the update this past weekend has definitely improved stylus input with my jot pro.

with the recent firmware update. my targus stylus actually works now! works with the skinomi screen protector.
Can anyone provide links for the jotpro and any other that work really well...
And does anyone have a jotpro and any other's to compare against after the firmware update?

Does this worth even looking at/trying out? (For $10, it's cheap enough but I don't wanna waste my time).
I really wanna use this for notes. Both for classes (math/econ, kb for most other classes) and meetings. And some sketching... among other things.
Thanks in advance!
I would prefer a smaller nib. Really need some way to write notes other than my finger thats for sure...lol

[Help] Sony S Stylus to Write on

What stylus do you recomend to sony s, i want to right notes from classes
Please if possible ebay link
none
All of the ones that I know of have a rubber piece at the end and are not suitable for hand writing.
What I don't know is if the new Samsung firm stylus would work.
Hi guy! I've the typical cheap stylus, but I don't recommend you to take notes (I'm in university and it isn't easy to keep pace with him hehe).
A very good pencil is the Adonit jot, I haven't tried it but I've readed that is very good! But is very expensive too...

Later, to take notes I recommend you the FreeNotes apk....is very easy and, for me, the best apk for this!! hehe. Free in the PlayStore!
Sorry for my english, I'm Spanish...
The best stylus for handwriting on the Sony S tablet that I've found found is the just mobile Allupen. It does take some getting used to and there is a slight delay. It is the only rubber tipped stylus I've run into that you can write with. Also your mileage may very depending on what app you're using to take notes. My personal fave is Freenote.
The adonit Jot works well too, but I thinks it's more suitable for drawing than writing as it will constantly be clicking against your screen if you even write moderately fast. Good for cursive though.
Another good option is the fabric tipped gogo stylus it's exactly the same as the fabric tipped aponyo stylus, but it's a little cheaper.
With any of these you have to get used to writing with them. It's not like writing with a pen. Also all the palm rejection software I've run into has been less then thrilling. I just wear fingerless gloves to solve that problem.
Good luck!
works great

I'm surprised people have gotten any stylus to work with the Tablet S. I've tried two different iFaraday styluses, which are supposed to be the most sensitive stylus available, as well as a Boxwave rubber tipped stylus, and a dirt cheap generic Ebay rubber tipped stylus. All of these tips trigger a strange constant double tapping action just by touching the tip to the screen. Extremely annoying when in the browser as this causes the screen to constantly zoom in and out. I pretty much just assumed the Tablet S screen simply can't handle styluses.
