Mi9 cepheus SOT (screen on time) ROM battle - Xiaomi Mi 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys
I wanna find out which ROM has the best battery consumption with a smooth system.
I'm now on
Havoc 4.3 / 2 years old heavy used mi9 256gb transparent edition / some sys apps freezed / some changings in build.prop / automatic brightness with velis autobrightness
SOT 7 hours in a cycle from starting with 90% charged (using smart charge) used to 3% = 87% consumption in 36 hours
It would be good if you post also the base of your phone.

No one with better values ?

It's useless. You should really test all the ROMs yourself, as our usage differs, our network differs, our ambient temperature differs and so on and they all contribute to battery life or as you expect, SOT.

Hmmm useless?
Ok, I respect your opinion.
In my opinion it's not useless and hopefully for others too, because the main thing is the ROM for overall SOT.
As substantiation the SOT 2 years ago with new phone and Miui factory settings was at the highest value around 3 hours and now I've got 6 hours. Also if I add the ambient temperatures and light and different app using.... the overall SOT now with my old phone is much better as delivered and so the reason is the havoc rom.

It's useless because it can cause misleading conclusion.
There's no such a thing as overall SOT for everybody at least without perfect comparison (i.e. you list all your phone age, apps, settings and usage pattern) with previous ROM you use.
Even if your experience above is true, there's no guarantee it will happen to me as well if I also change ROM. For starters, my MIUI EU ROM ever since I had this phone 1.5 years ago has always been around 5-6 hours SOT. That one alone is already different from you, right? I would be very misled if I think "oh, this person can jump its SOT from 3 hours to 6 by using havoc ROM, so if I follow him I could get 10-12 hours, or at least 8-9 hours". Don't get me wrong, ROM does have influence to battery life, at least if the developer do some low level optimizations, better if at kernel level, but still assuming one person's experience can be reproduced by others, is a no go.

My best experience is with stable xiaomi.eu, 12.0.6 at the moment, and about 20 frozen MIUI and Google apps. I test and use custom roms from time to time, but never had better SOT than with xiaomi.eu and the same package of apps.

H, since I updated from miui 10 to miui 11 and even now that I have miui 12 I have noticed that the battery doesn't last as long as before. I state that since I purchased the phone (July 2019) I have always charged the battery in the best way...

Hi,
I should be getting a redmi note 2 prime any day now.
What rom would you all suggest to use on it ?
Has any one use www smiui net to cook a rom?
Do you have any issues with certain roms ? And do they all have gapps installed for playstore and chrome.
thank you all in advance

Dumb question, but is there any difference between the one you've linked and this one? AFAIK mine is the "official" one with only English/Chinese language, yours adds German, French etc etc?
http://en.miui.com/download.html
Yes, the rom on en.miui.com have only English and Chinese and no gapps, but it's official.
Xiaomi.eu rom have many languaged and gapps but it's unofficial

thank you for all your help
I guess it doesnt have. I dont remember. Because I installed gapps for google Maps on opengapps.org. Dont remember to choose arm64.
Using miuipro for now.
http ://miuipro.ru/roms/
You can also use AOSP if you like stock android. I am currently using and everything works except HDR. Battery life is worse than miui but with exposed and a few tweaks you can improve it to >5h SOT and almost 0.01% phone idle drain (in 8 hours over night battery was at same level i left it ).

gapps, multi lang, and free paid theme, no bloatware.
No it doesnt include xposed or wsm.
For now xposed only works at AOSP base rom.

Which AOSP Rom and xposed module / tweaks are you using? There are many out there and i always test new ones, but none had a 0.01% idle drain. Most time it's 8% in 10h. SOT is the same everywhere, but i got 6h with my rom, but like i said, the idle drain is a bit too much for having great SOT all the time.

sAOSP and mostly amplify + greenify. About idle drain; i am not sure if it really is 0,01% (in battery stats it says like 20% idle drain but battery was as i left it 10 hours earlier), maybe i am wrong or something ? also i saw it on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-0-0-hour-idle-battery-drain-stock-t2973588 and seems to work. And how did you get 6h sot on your rom ? i can't get more than 4h .

Thanks i will try amplify. I really don't know how my phone could handle 6h and 10min sot. I just wanted to make a test and i didn't throttle my cpu or anyting. I was expecting 4h maybe 4 1/2 hours, but it just didn't want to go out of battery. At the beginning i surfed a bit in the internet and then played a few games, but after a few hours it was guite boring so i decided to let it play youtube videos for nearly an hour. Than the last half hour games again, with the hope, that the sot test ends here and it did. I was very surprised from the result. The only problem on my rom was the idle drain, even with woking deepsleep...

Battery stats MIUI vs CM13 (RN3P)

Can someone tell me why on CM13 or any CM13 based rom is about 10h left of battery on 100% when on MIUI is about 3 days? People said that SOT is similar on both. (8-10h)
CM13 count it in different way?
Thank's

because battery stats on mobile are basically rubbish. Just gauge it based on your own usage. so many things will vary the stats, network strength, screen brightness, vibration strength etc.
Generally I find the battery lasts longer on debloated miui roms, but YMMV
Too big difference. 10h vs 3 days (72h), no way, need to be something more.

Well both are wild guess, on MIUI it is overestimation by OEM, while on CM it just a guess based on battery capacity and current draw. They'll get more accurate overtime, I'd say you need to use it for at least two weeks with normal usage, they'll be more similiar.

about 2-3 days with stock miui
then only 10 hours with ResurrectionRemix which have issue with the processor.
I will try CM 12.1 by nahz if it's better or going back to stock rom

Best miui version with best battery backup pure stock

I read some comments that they used to get 8-9hrs of SOT, some said they could manage to get 10 or more hours on SOT, so ive been thinking on creating thread to get some info on what version of miui is the best for battery backup, ive used miui7 and yeah i got 8hrs of SOT back then, miui8 is pretty fast on battery drain, so can i have something on you guys? what version is good on battery backup?
I don't think there's a simple answer to your question. Everyone's use of the phone is different.
Playing games uses more battery than browsing or watching YouTube.
4G uses more battery than 3G.
3G uses more battery than WiFi.
Bad mobile signal uses more battery than good signal.
Setting the brightness higher uses more battery than setting it low.
Overclocking uses more battery than running at stock speed.
MIUI 8 uses more battery than MIUI 7.
So there is really no way to objectively compare SOT between users.
I never managed to empty the battery of my phone in one day, no matter what I was doing.
And as long as you come home in the evening and still have battery left, you shouldn't worry about other people's screen on times.
But do you even need to use MIUI? I have used both MIUI 7 and 8, for many months and I used to think that the user experience was pretty great till I installed an Android 7 rom here from XDA, Slim 7. Only then I understood what a great experience this phone can offer. I have been using Nitrogen OS for close to two months now, and not only does it have all the customization options I need, my phone is smooth as a flagship and I get 10-11 hours of screen on time regularly, with heavy use.
You could use a Marshmallow ROM if you really need a perfectly stable camera, but the camera works 9 out of 10 times anyway.
Custom ROMs are better in every way than MIUI.
Now im on miui7.5.30 battery back up is pretty good. I love aosp based rom but suddenly my fp breaks on NOs, dont know why, since then i get bootloop when i installed custom roms so i settled now in miui
I love aosp to but alarm dont work when turn off phone. And that is important to me.

Best ROM for battery life for Redmi Note 3

I am using Resurrection Remix 16/04 build for a month now. I am getting 5-5.5 hours of screen on time. But I need to charge it in the evening for it be usable. It was not the case in MIUI. Is battery life better in MIUI ? Which custom rom is best for battery life ? I am not a heavy user just social media, youtube etc.
I used Nitrogen OS Oreo and battery was bad. I reverted to last miui stable and battery now is good.

Yeah same I am also thinking of going back to MIUI. There the battery life is good and I am facing LTE signal fluctuation every now and then on all custom roms. Don't know if its a common bug.

It could be better if other people will share their tests

You can check [ROM][UNOFFICIAL][8.1.0][kenzo] LineageOS 15.1[Nightlies]. I've moved to this ROM from NOS 8.1, when SOT times were decreasing (3-4 hours, even of WiFi) and I'm quite surprised with SOT on LOS. Please keep in mind, this SOT is only linked to WiFi - I didn't used mobile data at all with this charge. I'm using latest Agni kernel.
I can also post statistics using mixed usage (WiFi + mobile data) someday, if you are interested.

ROM for battery life and where is the debloated MIUI rom?

Hello,
I'm looking for a rom and a good kernel that is very good on battery life. Also I want to try out the debloated MIUI. Where can I find it?
And is it true that the MIUI rom is the best for battery life?
try Xiaomi Eu rom ,with notification mod and restricted every app that you don't need so much. you might wanna clean rom more ,use lucky patcher and cleaned the rom. i did it my self.. trust me much better..
I am myself testing with Pixel Experience and the LKT magisk module. so far 2h of screen on time with only 20% battery drain, so i'd expect 8 to 10 hours of SoT just like that.
I've also heard malakas kernel has superceded Sphynx/FrancoKernel as the most battery friendly kernel you can install, but i have not tested that.
In the past, xiaomi.eu has given me better battery life than lineage/phh-treble in previous devices ( Mi MAX 3 ) so maybe combining xiaomi.eu + malakas kernel + lkt and maybe disabling half of your cores would give you a lot more SoT. I'll definitely post my findings in a few weeks on the SoT thread after i compare my current setup vs what i've just proposed.

At 299 euros, it's cheaper than getting, let's say, the BQ Aquaris X2 or the Zenfone Max Pro M2 for some unholy reason. and as a glorified Discord machine and music player... 2 high perf cores and 2 low perf cores are more than enough. and i get a battery boost on top of that!

There is this app called Naptime from the author of Franco Kernel that forces doze no matter what as soon as your screen goes off. so that should also help with miui rom sleep delays.
as for running themn on a lower frequency, i've found that chrome loves crash (locking the whole system up with it) if i make them go slow enough, so disabling half the cores at the stock speed seems to be doing the trick for me. Maybe both can be done within reason for some extra gains though
i think you should use revo os or miuipro. And uninstall apps magisk module terminal debloater or es file explorer.I am used pocof1 basic debloat.xml import terminal debloater and after other apps opened system apps and priv apps es file explorer andddddd delete folders

Considering deep sleep, would it be beneficial to go with NOS and Malakas kernel for even better battery? I mean there should be less bloatware and deep sleep could be less of a problem.
