Rooting

I'm trying to get use out of this aging tablet. I figured there aren't going to be any updates coming so I would finally like to root the device. However, everything I've read and tried is outdated and hasn't worked. I was wondering if someone could help me root my device. I'm not looking to run any ROM or anything. I'd just like to have root and superuser access so I can uninstall a lot of unwanted apps. Below is my device information. I've just recently done a factory reset and have not installed any drivers on my computer. Starting fresh.
Computer:
- Windows 7 64-bit
Tablet:
- Android Version: 4.1.1
- Build number: 10.4.2.18
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried using Kingo. While the program said it rooted the device, I didn't have root access when I checked the app Root Checker and Titanium Back-up to uninstall all the unwanted apps.

Is your device unlocked? If you're not and you don't have any warranty, try unlocking it first then use kingo. It's what I used on several TF201 with no problem, but they were all unlocked so I don't know if being locked would cause the problem.

My device is NOT unlocked. How do I go about unlocking it? After I do so, I'll give Kingo another try.
You can disregard! I tried Kingo again, without unlocking, and for some reason it worked this time! I am currently uninstalling all the bloatware. Thank you all for your help.

Yes there is.
I've downloaded and installed moboro for the drivers and after that I used kingoapp, a one click root program, to root the device.
However, some programs say it is already rooted and kingoapp also says this. I pressed root anyway and it worked. root checker shows I have root acces and I have been able to the resolution.
However I'm not sure unrooting completely works because I got an error. Nevertheless root checkers showed I had no more root access so it kinda worked.
I hope this helps!
Maybe you can also help me....??
Because of the slow performance I tried to lower the resolution en dpi and one of the apps deleted my build.prop.
I cant find a back up or an original image I can flash back on the device.
If you succeed in rooting, can you please make a backup of your original rom/build.prop and share it with me so I can try to get the tablet to work again?
Good luck and with kind regards

You can try to root it with "kingRoot" like mine, you'll maybe need a data/wifi internet connection so that it downlads all the necessary files to root it and then check with "RootChecker" if you doubt, you can always try to install an App that requires root privileges and you'll see. but this phone is crap anyway!!! There is no Custom ROM aviable for it!! I bought one from Mobilis too

I'm also currently trying to root this device. Like it's predacessor, the Alcatel Ideal (4060A), the IdealXCITE does not appear to have a locked bootloader. So, the best method for rooting this device will be to port/install custom recovery, and subsequently flash the SuperSU v2.82 systemless root script from custom recovery. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Please do the same. Thanks
if we could find a way to force it to enter in to the bootloader we could flash a custom recovery. edit: adb reboot bootloader does not work.
here is the buildprop: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634788588. if this phone is exploitable by dirtycow we can create a scrip to get to the bootloader or root it.
i found this line in the buildprop, #GTS force set flash lock to pass cts ro.boot.flash.locked=1. this could mean that the bootloader is locked.

Yes. You made a good find there. Systemless root is theoretically impossible with a locked bootloader, as I'm sure you already know. This device is looking more and more impenetrable every day.
are best bet to get root access is to call or email alcatel. plus that is what they sayed about the zte zinger but it got root access.

Is anyone still working on this device, or has it been abandoned?
I was but I just gave up on getting root access. If you think you know of a way to get root access please let me know.

If the bootloader can't be unlocked your device won't be able to get rooted also king root... Iroot and kingo root usually work best when targeting lollipop and below however I know your using a android version higher then lollipop cause it didn't work

The programs says that it's possible to root the device...so can I do anything to unlock the bootloader?
And yes the Android Version is Oreo:crying:
You can boot even if the device verification says that the signatures doesn't match.
Because of this you can use mtkclient to "unlock the bootloader" but fastboot still wont work
