Black screen on hang up on calls - Samsung Galaxy S21 Questions

Verizon S21 Ultra
Been having this problem since I got the phone. Did a hard reset, no help.
WIFI calling disabled. Press Side Key to end calls is disabled.
Under Motions and Gestures: Lift to Wake, Keep screen on while viewing: enabled. Screen timeout 1 minute. Accidental touch protection enabled. Touch sensitivity disabled
So I will be on a call and after a few minutes I pull the phone away from my ear to hang up. But the screen is black.
I have to hit the side button to get the screen to reappear.
Please help!

Anyone have thoughts here?

Verizon Touch Pro Lock during phone call

Hello, I have been looking all day to find out how to lock the screen during a call.
I keep getting random things happening when I am calling… Hanging up, calling someone else, programs running… etc… Hanging up is the most common for me.
I would like to have the screen lock when connected but have the hardware keys still active so I can end the call. But I also need to be able to get to the keypad and other areas when on a call, but I would like to have to unlock the screen first.
Thanks!
Have you tried hitting the power button on top to turn off the screen during a call? then if you need to get to something you tap the power button again to turn on the screen again. Simple, effective.
That solution does not work with a bluetooth headset. When you disconnect your call via headset, the screen comes on even if the power button has been pressed.
I have S2U2, but I can't figure out if there's a way around this 'feature.'
You should try Throttle Lock. It locks the phone very well.

Turn off display while in call?

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off the display while in a call? On my HTC Touch Pro I was able to just press the power button to achieve this - but on the Hero the power button is also the hang up button.
Any ideas?
Actually it's supposed to turn off automatically.
IMO the problem isn't turning the screen off during a call, it's turning it back on when needed.

Click to collapse
I agree completely... Is an annoying issue that display go away on call because if you need something, ie keyboard or see call duration you need to do something for have it back.
Why not try this app, which you shake to wake the screen - not tired it myself but worth a go
Shake Awake
If the screen goes blank during a call you can simply press the menu button to wake up the screen again. Just tested that and it works fine.
Still, it would be nice to be able to turn it off when I want and not have to wait for it to time out to switch the display off.
You can also press the answer button to wake screen while in a call.
As to shake-it-to-wake-it, with the non-stick coating on the device I would probably be likely to launch it out of my hand !!! haha
Sprint Hero
I just picked up a Spring HTC Hero this weekend and am finding the same problem. When I place the phone up to my ear the screen does not shut off. However since the end button is also the same button used to turn off the screen, I'm in a catch 22.
For now I have to wait for the screen to time out. Turning the screen back on is not an issue as many have mentioned.

[Q] How to awake screen from sleep during call?

This is a strange one. When placing a call, the screen immediately goes to sleep. If I want to access the keypad or end the call, I can't seem to awaken the screen either by moving the phone away from or toward my ear or by pressing any of the buttons on the phone itself. The only thing that seems to work is plugging in headphones as it triggers an event that wakes the phone.
I've been through the motion settings and can't see anything related to this that would be disabling my screen from waking. Any ideas?
Thanks

Screen input delay after moving away from face

Ok, so lately I've noticed when I've had to call a few numbers that need me to Press 1, 2, 3 etc on the dialpad that I can't do it right away. When I put the phone to my ear, as I would expect the screen switches itself off. When I pull the phone away from my face the screen comes on again immediately, but there's about a 5-7 second delay before I can actually press anything. In those seconds after the screen comes on, it wont accept any touch input whatsoever. It's not delayed, presses I make during those seconds just aren't registered at all, then suddenly it begins accepting input as normal. It isn't just number keys either, it's the entire screen, so I can't press End Call until nearly 10 seconds after I've actually pulled the phone away from my face, nor can I move the phone away and press the Speaker Phone button quickly.
This only happens when the screen comes on after being against my face though. If the screen is just turned off and I press the power button, or double tap to wake, it accepts input immediately, so I don't believe it's a hardware problem.
Currently running 4.4.4 rooted, image was made from stock and pre-rooted prior to being flashed onto the phone.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
yeah i've experienced this as well. doesn't happen on speaker though.
No, doesn't happen on speaker phone. If the screen goes off from that and I turn it back on then the screen responds immediately. It only seems to happen in cases where the screen auto shuts off due to it detecting that it's against your face.

what!?!?!

can you guys help me out... please try to replroduce the following....... put your screen off... cov3r the notch or topside of the screen and turn on the screen by power button...... and whatch the notification that comes...... wtf? is that a failsafe for when the phone is in your pocket and buttons are pressed
its in the settings, you can keep it on or off. it stops the touch screen for being activated in your pocket etc especially with the pick to wake up feature. Setting>smart assistance> mistouch prevention
