Redmi 8a fastboot stuck - Xiaomi Redmi 8A Questions & Answers

So i wanted to install custom rom on my redmi 8a, installed TWRP and wiped the system without installing the rom, now my phone is stuck in the fastboot mode because i don'‌t have system to load, also can'‌t access the TWRP and file system from the pc. How can i flash MIUI? Tried with Mi Flash Tool, got an error "missmatching image and device". I tried downloading several different roms and also from official website, but still didn't succeed in flashing and every time get this exact error.

SOLVED! flashed patched vbmeta through fastboot and can open TWRP now

Hi.
So, I'm exactly in the same situation. For a moment there I thought I perma-bricked my phone...
Anyway, can you tell me more about how you solved it?
Where did you get the patched vbmeta file?
How can I flash it? Is it just a simple fastboot flash <partition> <file> command?
Anything else I need besides the vbmeta file?
Thanks in advance.

Fastboot not working

Hi everyone !
Some month ago I flashed on my device a beta test of Nougat for Honor 5c. Yesterday I wanted to leave it and go back to a stable rom but I was unable to find a flashable ZIP of stock Rom so I used FlashFire to flash a update.app firmware package (some **** from Huawei...).
After flashing it I tried to reboot my phone but I just got a Error Mode - Please update your system again. (and Recovery image error + load error)
To solve this I reboot to fastboot and on my computer I tried to flash TWRP with fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and I got a error : remote : command not allowed. I search and search and search on forums but I found nothing.
I tried some other fastboot commands, i tried to boot from a img, ... but nothing, just Command not allowed.
I have a Honor 5c NEM-L51, fastboot is "working" lol, no recovery, no force dload update, bootloader unlocked, FRP lock (idk what is this), i was rooted with Magisk and I flashed the package with FlashFire.
Please help me :crying:
Siffrein

Unable to Boot after flashing custom rom. Help needed.

So it's my second attempt to flash lineage os (unofficial) on my Realme XT. First time I was a little careless and bricked my device (had to go to the service center for that). Second time I took all the precautions still I'm having almost same problem, but this time its not yet bricked.
I unlocked the bootloader. It went fine.
Flashed unofficial TWRP and booted back to stock os.
When I tried booting to TWRP again I realized it was reset back to stock recovery. So I flashed it again and made backup of all the partitions (stupidly on internal storage). Booted back to system to check that backup is showing on internal storage. Again booted to TWRP and wiped everything except internal storage, flashed lineage and gapps. Wiped dalvik/cache rebooted to system. I was greeted with system partition destroyed error screen.
I flashed vbmeta.img via fastboot, the error was gone but still i was not able to boot to lineage. (I directly flashed vbmeta.img via fastboot. Didn't use the "fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification" command.)
Now I'm having a different kind of problem.
I can boot into TWRP but I can not boot to system (lineage os). Can't go back to stock as well because the internal storage is encrypted i think (all the folders have random names). After flashing vbmeta.img (via fastboot) now I am not able to connect my phone via fastboot.
Without fastboot TWRP backup is the only option for me to get it back in a working state. If anyone reading this has stock color os with TWRP, It would be great help if you could give me a TWRP backup of system.
Also, I would ilke to know where I messed up while unlocking/flashing, so that I can avoid this in the future.
Okay I managed connect it via fastboot again and flashed the stock fastboot image but it didn't help. I'm still stuck at fastboot mode and can boot to TWRP as well but not to system.
While flashing system.img and vendor.img i'm getting error "Invalid sparse file format at header magi".
If anyone can can provide me stock realme recovery, then I can flash official update ozip to get back to stock os (and get out of the bootloop).

There is a flashable twrp stock rom.. in guides section. Flash it in twrp.
Thanks I'll try that!

You cannot flash the StockRomXYZ.ozip file directly via TWRP or OrangeFox recovery but if you want to flash COLOR OS then use this link - https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-xt/how-to/official-ota-update-rmx1921ex11-11-26-t3993041 to download and flash directly otherwise convert the .ozip file into .zip file before flashing. Try the steps mentioned in the link to convert - https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-2-pro/how-to/convert-ozip-to-zip-installing-stock-t4065277 . After conversion, copy the .zip into storage and always use the Clean Flash method to flash the firmware.
Hope you got it.

Could you explain? My phone is stuck at fastboot and my pc doesn't detect the phone.
if u could access your phone via fastboot / adb then it wasn't a hardbrick , just a softbrick

You should check first the driver of your computer. Make sure you have the driver of your phone to your computer. After that you can check your device via adb by using commnd on cmd "adb devices".

I have the same problem. I tried also this one, but nothing.
Everything goes ok in CMD, but when I type:
fastboot boot twrp.img
I get:
FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)
I still can't go in Recovery, neither turn off the phone. How solve this?!

flash boot twrp.img?
What do you wanna do?
If you want to boot into TWRP it should be
Code:
fastboot boot recovery "name-of- recovery.img"
If you want to flash TWRP it should be
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "name-of-recovery.img"
Your command
fastboot flash boot twrp.img should flash the recovery image over the boot image?
If you want to boot into twrp you should use the command above.
As far as I know not every device/firmware is able to boot into TWRP. It seems other users were able to do so with a mi 9t so my advice would be:
- Try another usb port / cable.
- Check twice if you renamed the twrp image correctly
- Try another twrp version (older one or unofficial)

Thank you. Actually I was confused in the transcript here, I meant fast boot instead of flash.
But I figured out to use XiaomiFlash Tool to install a ROM via fastboot, and then reinstall a recovery.
The popup camera is not working good with the XIAOMI official rom (It tries to close the cam even if it is already closed). Now I'm trying to install Havoc OS to try to solve those problem, but it demands me the miui v11.0.4 or new (error in twrp), even if I have the miui v12.... trying to figure out why
for the guys whome are stuck on fastboot, you may try "XiaoMiTool V2". this bought my Mi9T from fastboot to life.
make sure all the drivers are installed as well. what's better is install usb drivers, reboot computer, enable usb debugging, connect the phone to computer, select transfer data, wait till the computer completely setup your phone, turn off phone and connect to computer, wait till computer detects and setup, put the phone on fastboot mode and connect, check whether computer shows android device... once everything are confirmed then proceed with flasing.. :good::good:

Need help with rooting (Magisk) my olivewood - Redmi 8A Dual!

Hey there,
Gone through every other thread in XDA and most other blogs already. I'm pretty used to rooting and modding android devices, still i somehow find rooting this dirty device harder than I expected.
It's been 2 days now and I could really use some 1-1 help for my case. So, my stock is MIUI Global 11.0.8 Stable 11.0.8.0 PCQINXM, I already unlocked the bootloader and flashed the latest PBRP. On attempting to flash Magisk, I don't find any success regardless of error/ no error messages.
1. I extracted my boot.img with
i) adb shell dd if=/dev/block/by-name/boot of=/sdcard/boot.img
ii) from my ROM via xiaomifirmwareupdater.com repo
2. Used recovery.img that came with olivewood's PBRP.
Patched both of them via Magisk Manager with Recovery Mode checked on.
3. Used vbmeta.img that came with stock ROM.
4. Flashed using fastboot flash boot c:\boot.img
fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
fastboot flash vbmeta c:\vbmeta.img
Still can't seem to complete the root successfully.
What am i doing wrong?
P.S.: I found that flashing a recovery patched this way leads to issues, that I'm stuck in fastboot even if I try to boot to system or PBRP recovery. Flashing the original recovery.img from PBRP repo gets back the recovery menu.

Plz post how to patch boot image
Magist patched boot image not working to root

WiFi dead after installing magisk

Xiaomi Redmi 8A
MIUI Global 11.0.7 (PCPMIXM)
Bootloader unlocked
I followed this youtube tutorial
Running the following commands:
fastboot devices (detected just fine)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
All 3 files were flashed successfully, the TWRP wasn't working as expected, it booted into TWRP but the touch didn't work, so I decided to install another version found in another video (3.3.1-0105 by wzsx150), this worked, and allowed me to install MagiskManager-v7.5.1
Then after booting, I can't turn on the WiFi. When I try to enable it, it just disables itself automatically.
As far as I know, the boot image is the problem, I have another Xiaomi Redmi 8A with me but with MIUI Global 11.0.9 (PCPINXM), it has the bootloader unlocked too, what do you suggest? Can I get a copy of that boot and flash it with fastboot to the device with the wifi problem? may it work? what are the commands to do so? I don't know them and I don't want to brick it
Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

Hi, sorry if I misunderstood you but did you try to install the old Magisk Manager? It's not even Magisk Manager anymore but only Magisk, try to install the latest stable version 25.2 here is the download link.
Exact same issue here.
Unlocked bootloader and had twrp recovery on it
Installed PixelExperience 13 and everything was fine
For banking apps, I installed Magisk 25.2 following official process w/boot + recovery
Flashed patched images using fastboot.
Now I have banks, but no wifi :-/
Any hints?
