Question K40 Pro+ on 12 stable. Full screen gestures bug? - Xiaomi Mi 11i / 11X Pro / Redmi K40 Pro+

just got the phone yesterday and already did the update. i turn on full screen gestures instead of buttons. but after a while, it reverts back to buttons on wake? it's so odd.
incidentally, i thought the update said 12.5 but my version after update shows 12.0.9. can i get in on actual 12.5.0? maybe bug is fixed there already

Miui 12.5 is rolling out for K49 Pro/+, you may need to wait few days more.

Do you like the phone? Have had F3 and like it but considering buying this phone for the the better camera. I hate curved screens so this is pretty much the only flagship with a flat screen.

I highly suggest using the beta from Xiaomi.eu it requires a factory wipe but makes the phone much cleaner. MIUI optimizations (need to turn off in Developer Options) is required on many apps, and breaks many settings / default apps when you do so. This is not the case with Xiaomi.eu (it is removed).
You can also use stable Xiaomi.eu 12.5.3 if you want to run the stable version.
I have run them all the beta is my favorite (and actually it's 12.6 MIUI). Upgrades at least to the same channel (stable, beta) do NOT wipe your data after the initial install. They have an Updater but you must install from fastboot and be rooted to use Xiaomi.eu.

Do you get good battery life on Xiaomi EU? I will soon get my Mi 11i and wonder how the battery life is gonna be. SD888 seems to be a battery hog.

It seems to be around stock honestly yes all 888s are battery hogs. Go for the latest beta Xiamo.eu 12.6 MIUI weekly it's battery life is better than stable.
Do you see any MIUI Mi11 ROMs posted? If so can I get a link? Or the NON-HLOS.bin in in the install package (may need to be payload extracted if the ROM just has payload.bin inside). There's a simple program on XDA to unpack it https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tool-a-quick-android-ota-payload-dumper.4173271/

Help, 7.1.1 is painful

Hi all, I have a Z5C E8305, it just updated to 7.1.1 latest release xx.160.
Since then my battery lasts much less, everything is leggy, even whatsapp or camera, and for instance, switching out from chrome and going back again, lost the current page and caused a reload (before it didn't, for example for form completing).
I tried Sony companion for a repair, and it is actually much less leggy, but still slow, higher ram usage, battery drains and chrome cache resets and is slow on window switching (actually any window reloads when switching now) and slow icon loading when hiding all windows.
I read a lot through rooting but it is way too painful (unlocking bootloader, rooting, wrtp or clocked flash boot plus flash new room, too much for me and it didn't really work smoothly when I tried)
What is the next thing I can do? I wouldn't mind using either LineageOS if it is easy to install otherwise I'll be gold with 7.0 again
Thanks,
Jv

LineageOS is definitely better right now for most things than the official 7.1.1. I actually just switched from LineageOS 7.1.1 to stock 7.1.1, hated it, and actually downgraded to stock 6.0.1 with Xposed. I feel like that gives me the most control, but I might switch back to LineageOS depending on if they start doing nightlies or anything interesting like that.

I'd love to try it, but unlocking bootloader plus installing a new one (clockwork or the other one), plus the mix up between my non-standard edition E8305 and most current release not being any guides up-to date. Its daunting for a newcomer like me.
I saw on Sony's website forums that a factory reset helped with battery and memory usage. I am going to try that when I have a few days off as the lag is annoying me. But I also have audio stutters when listening to music and audio books now.

Clean install is your best bet in fixing most issues
Factory reset helped at first but after a week of using it it became slow again
No matter what I did, full wipe in FlashTool included, 7.1.1 never had any free ram and I could only background one, maybe two apps. Everything was slower than I've ever seen in a stock rom in any device I've owned!
Currently I've reverted to 6.0.1 and it provides a pleasing combination of speed, battery life, and tweakability with xposed.
Yesterday I took a gander at patching the one xposed feature I actually need into 7.0, but I gave up after a few hours. Maybe I'll try another weekend sometime, but writing/debugging smali is painful! I think I'll just stay on 6 for now and hope xposed makes it to 7 someday!

1. Just backup everything you need (backing up whole apps isnt recommended though when you switch android versions).
2. Download and install Flashtool.
3. Open XperiFirm from inside Flashtool, select and download the firmware you need. It will bundle it automatically in a flashable ftf file.
4. Once you are sure you backed up everything, flash away.
Wipe everything. If you have TWRP and dont want to lose it, dont wipe FOTAKernel.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:

I did this; copied from the sony forums:
"Android 7.1.1 is not the culprit, but the recently updated Movie Creator app!
1: Disable MOVIE CREATOR
2: Reboot in SAFE MODE
(while phone is on, press Power button, hold Reboot option for 1 second)
3: Reboot again to normal mode
4: Enjoy 2 days of standby time"
My phone seems much better now.
I also disabled the Sony music app as I was having audio troubles, but not sure if it was necessary.

You guys think the guilty was the movie creator? My phone was barely usable. Full ram usage, battery drain and everything was laggy and hanging
what was firmware just prior to 32.4.A.0.160 (7.1.1) ???
Hello could you kind folks please guide me what was official (not rooted) Sony Z5C firmware prior to the above monster? I want to go back but don't know which one it was? Please link me to official version just before this latest ( 32.4.A.0.160 (7.1.1)) NASTY update! Many Thanks.

Yes, surprisingly.
I went from ~15MB of free memory (and the associated problems complained about: laggy transitions, program openings, home page icons, etc). back to ~250-300MB free and typical performance.
Actually usable performance is a little better given they have one of the cortex A57's more aggressively clocked.
I'd try. You can always restore if you desperately want Movie Creator and see no benefit.

What about the issue with browser page reloading every time you switch to a different app and then back again to the browser? OP reported this issue, and I've been having it, too. Did that get resolved for you with the disabled Movie Creator crap?

Google "Flashtool" - it's literally the first result there. Also, Flashtool has XperiFirm, which can download almost all firmwares for Xperias and pack them into ftf format automatically.

yet another 'Best ROM' thread...

Hey guys,
Newbie here. I am very excited about my new yet to be received phone - X829 using EUI 5.8.016S (Stable).
I care about call quality, camera quality, sound quality using the CDLA technology headphones (in this order).
I don't consider myself a heavy user - I talk maybe 30 mins per day maximum, light web browsing, no gaming...
Should I stick to the stock rom supplied EUI 5.8.016S or is it worth upgrading to something else? Like, will a custom ROM yield better call quality, camera quality and sound quality than the stock rom?
Thanks!
Andrei
Hi, i am also a X829 user and i would suggest you to try recently released EUI 6.0.030s, which has great battery life and network receiving, of course quite stable.Camera quality is also good.
This one is the same rom modified by CrisBallGreece that includes system adblocker by default and preinstalled magisk manager, removed unnecessary leeco apps and chinese garbage apps.
Here is the link:https://drive.google.com/file/d/17dVqqd_kRZol6ORhvs_Ubri7xNldRLvw/view

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. How do I get the 'cleaned-up' version installed? Not familiar with either super su or magisk. What is the easiest way to go about doing this? The threads I found make reference to super su but can't download it from the official website. Sorry if this was already addressed in a different thread...
Thanks a lot!
Follow this link :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/protocol-backup-stock-rom-flash-stock-t3517151
First of all, you should unlock your bootloader and flash twrp (a custom recovery mode, allows you flash rom).
Download rom and gapps then put them to your device, backup your data.Reboot to recovery mode.Press wipe - wipe data, go back and press install - find the rom you copied and flash it.Once the phone booted, go back to recovery and flash gapps in the same way then reboot. That's it.
This is the only way to flash any type of rom.
Btw, magisk is a root manager like the supersu, gives you root access of the system.
Hi,
Thanks for the very informative post. I got my phone yesterday and started to play with it As expected, I had some hard time installing the EUI 6 CBG version. I think it's because I installed a very recent (if not the most recent) version of TWRP...From memory, the one I installed is 3.2.2...Anyhow, EUI seemed to install fine and I got the success message displayed in TWRP along with the note 'phone will reboot in 5 seconds' or something like that - which never happened.
I then installed Lineage OS 15 Oreo because I didn't know how to downgrade TWRP.
So do you think that the problem I had was because of the TWRP version I used? how does one downgrade that?
Also, I installed the Gapps (https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...x-lineageos-15-1-oreo-leeco-le-max-2-t3771577) but Google services gives an error message...'Google stopped working'. Is there a workaround for that?
Thanks!
Andrei
Hi mate,
Right after that " phone will reboot ..." note, you should have rebooted the device by pressing and holding the power button for 8-9 secs and it would be fine.
No, latest twrp version works fine and is compatible with this firmware.
Hmm, you can try to delete the app data of google play services.Have you flashed the los 15 with full wipe ?
Btw los 15 is not mature enough. It still has some battery consumption problems and the battery life lasts not as long as EUI's. + I don't know if it has CDLA sound mod but it doesn't contain dolby digital sound.
Hi,
I believe I did a full wipe (dalvik, cache, system, data).
I will try again to flash EUI 6 by CBG tonight.
The workaround for gapps was to flash them at the same time with LOS 15. Previously I flashed LOS 15, rebooted into the system, went back to recovery twrp and then flashed the gapps.
Thanks!
Yeah, flashing the gapps with rom in a row is not a workaround, its a must-to-do.Unfortunately i forgot to mention this to you.Apologises..
Great, thanks a lot! it worked. I'm getting used to it right now. Will play with this ROM for a couple of weeks and then try something else...I was thinking SLIM7...any thoughts on it? have you tried it? any red flags?
Thanks!
I am also thinking to move that rom, but later.Well its the final version so no bugs. But i don't know if it supports cdla sound mod, do you know ?

Not sure if it supports CDLA...I tried this rom briefly the other day and I had a hard time with the camera...battery seemed to deplete quite fast, but I'm sure it can improved with different settings, greenify, etc...try it and let me know if you like it.
Which other roms have you tried?
Thanks!
Most non-eui roms will have slightly worse battery life making greenify an absolute must.
But if you want a non-eui rom (like me, I just hate eui) I recommend lineage 15.1 or du12 by infrag(my current rom).
Hi man, after a long time, I had a change to try different rom, named mokee 7.1.2 (nougat).Well, it's not bad, performance is excellent, not a single lag at all. Also the battery backup is good, not perfect as EUI but acceptable.
Pros of this rom are, it's being updated in a nightly period and Android security patch is dated as august 5 2018 !
You may check it out if you are interested..
Regards.
I am also on DU12 thinking to try 1 of Android P roms, is it time or to wait ?

MoKee ROM - grus

Hi to everyone here... Finally a MoKee ROM is relased for Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (grus) devices!
Developer: subdragonzj
This thread will be unofficial for testing of a AOSP-MoKee ROM builded from the source...
(and ROM based on MoKee with some mods builded by myself)
Stay tuned
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by this ROM. It doesn't have the existential issues of PE, so it has all those little useful features out of the box (instant face unlock, double tap to sleep on the lockscreen, etc.). It's not XenonHD based, so no freezing incoming calls. Performance is good (closer to xiaomi.eu). Fingerprint scanner is reasonably fast (I say reasonably because xiaomi.eu is always two steps ahead, in this department). And battery life is also optimized to best levels.
I had issues completing Google setup and with wifi, but I have to be honest: I installed the ROM on top of the latest xiaomi.eu (without sound issues, by the way). Now I have 10.3.4 eea vendor. Let's see how it performs on everyday tasks.
PS - Also, I didn't like the ads on MoKee Center, but Adway takes care of that, of course. I have several paid apps from Play Store, so if the ROM is really good, I have no problems with donation for some extra features.
Can you tell us which steps you made to install mokee properly?
Cheers
Gesendet von meinem MI 9 SE mit Tapatalk
Install Vendor 10.3.3 Global or 10.3.4 EEA via fastboot
Reboot to recovery and install ROM
Do a factory reset (or format Data)
Reboot to system and do initial setup
Reboot to recovery and install Pico GAPPS + faceunlock.zip
Reboot to recovery and install Magisk
Reboot to system and finish setup.
This works for me.
Ultrawide camera is having same problems that XenonHD had (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...xenonhd-9-0-experimental-15-08-t3957888/page5). Can you fix this? Probably Okita kernel will fix it, but I would like to keep this kernel for now, seems very optimized for battery.

Ultra-wide camera is broken due to missing some nodes at the kernel dtsi on Xiaomi side (their kernel source is too much broken stuff, even for MIUI itself, which is funny).
And because MoKee dev uses Xiaomi kernel source with little modification, so it's pretty much expected.
And because MoKee dev uses Xiaomi kernel source with little modification, so it's pretty much expected.[/QUOTE]
does it support camera 2 API full
I'm using this ROM for now because it's more optimized than PE. Apart from color profiles that don't stick in any AOSP ROM and a dark theme with white notifications, everything else (except camera, as posted above) is working fine. Fingerprint scanner is reliable (although still a little slow), face unlock is instant and the only issue that needs to be solved asap is ultra wide lens not working. A custom kernel can deal with that, but the stock kernel performs better with this ROM. So, I think I'll wait for a fix or other ROM development.
Anyone getting this on any of your AOSP ROMs?
Been using for 3 days now, and by far it gives the ideal battery performance. Tried crDroid and although there were some improvements, couldn't last a day with barely 20% and high idle drain.
Will be staying with this ROM as everything that I expect from this device is provided for. Personally, no battery means no phone for me, so that's my baseline. Thanks to the other developers for their hard work and free time!

For now, custom AOSP ROM have 177k-184k antutu score, and it's normal.
you can't expect it to be as close as miui (which can go between 185k-195k).
besides, antutu doesn't represent the true performance since anyone can hack it just like huawei before.
btw, this is from some unreleased custom rom that I use right now, no kernel mod, no nothing. typical custom aosp's score
Yes, but generally it gives you the right idea. The ROM is very fluid. I've installed all my stuff and it remains fluid. In fact, I think the latest nightly update has improved user experience.
Then comes maintenance and that's what worries me the most. We see ROMs (XenonHD and PE) that freeze on incoming calls. This is not just a little bug, it's a massive bug. It basically disables your phone. And it's not been solved yet? crDroid developer seems to think that SIM management is not important in a dual SIM phone. Instead, he tries to make fingerprint scanner work 0.1 seconds faster. Yes, camera is not fully working on MoKee and I really hope that this issue is solved, but at least I can receive calls and enable my data SIM card only when I use it, which saves a lot of battery.
---------- Post added at 05:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:36 AM ----------
I installed latest xiaomi.eu version last week and it's way ahead in every aspect, except 2: MIUI (sucks) and SIM management. AOSP ROMs (except crDroid) handle SIM management in a much better (easier) way.

Yes you should always use cmd in administrator mode in the same folder than vbmeta.img

Can you tell us where is located fastboot and vbmeta.img on your pc?
For instance, i have all my files in c:\Android
So I launch the cmd directly in that folder.

Copied on C drive and renamed into Android
Then I copy my files on it, and right click/launch as admin on "cmd-here".

The first Android 11 Beta release for Mi CC9 Pro/Mi Note 10 (Pro) is there.
Don't expect a fully working system, many apps aren't optimized for Android 11 yet.
Do a clean flash (Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik) and flash it with any custom recovery.

Take care to read all the messages from Mi Note 10 users before installing. I did and refrain from installing it. At least, do a full backup of everything.

Orangefox R11.0
Though flashing the rom works it seems a newer version of twrp will be needed to flash magisk according to the eu forums.

Seems like it because the recent TWRP bootloops the EU Android 11 rom. Past roms had no problem using with and without magisk.

The current twrp works fine for roms, an earlier version of the EU rom did bootloop but it's fixed, I'm running 20.10.15 right now, specifically Magisk seems to have issues right now either with twrp or magisk itself just needs to be updated.

For me it did not, wiped everything and then after installing, thr Miui 12 splash screen shows upa nd tries to boot up but then afterwards it takes me back to TWRP.
I will wait until it is more stabilized with magisk or when there is a global eu version of it.

I had same problem with fixed build of Xiaomi.eu, you have to FORMAT DATA, and then install fixed build It help me, remember to FORMAT DATA, not only wipe Data Partition.
I regret installing new rom. I don't really see v anything new except HUGE battery drain with cellular data and hardware camera provider.
Sad to hear, the last stable build with the best battery life was EU 11.1.2, past that version, the battery can't do 11-12:30 hours of SoT like 11.1.2

[ROM][11]LineageOS 18/18.1 Z4Tablet[SGP712/771]

There is Android 11 ROM for Xperia Tablet Z4.
It's quite stable.
Kernel sources
What doesn't work:
- when the tablet is off, during charging, the diode will always light red;
- external SD Card as internal storage;
- restart into recovery;
- tablet encryption;
- SELinux proper configuration for a proper security.
How to install:
1) use TWRP 3.5.0.
2) do factory reset (wipe)
3) Flash the firmware, nik,bit or flamegapps , magisk 21 and that’s it.
Change log:
20201206- initial build.
Last builds (mirror) are here.
Sabar_op link
We must be infinite grateful to sabar_op for his hard work in development of this rom and Bernie and Tarkzim who help to update kernel for kitakami devices. :good:.
I found that I cant install vanced YouTube with lucky patcher or SAI, with vanced manager it's OK. But root version says google services is not supported on this device. I checked with both bit and nik gapps, but no luck. Anyway to use root version with los 18?
Update new rom dated on 11 Dec 2020 :
- camera now works
- fix some sepolicy denials.
I found that "reboot to recovery" doesn't work. Only Power + -val is only way to get the recovery.
Thanks for the R version for our device.
I found an issue on play store. I can't download some games (like Walking Dead Road to survival for example). When install begin it stop and an error appears.

The same thing with war robots.
Battery consumption on karen-windy is huge as always on this. The android system itself lost 46% in 12 hours idle.

True. Battery drains to 0% when leaving the device switched off or on! Red LED stays on even when device switched off..

Sabar made Los18.1 build which should reduce battery consumtion. But it also brings new bugs, no exfat for sdcard, half of screen is disabled after wakeup in many cases. I hope it'll be fixed soon.
Half black screen bug is fixed with 20200103 rom. You may need also to reformat sdcard as external storage.
How's the battery consumption?

I remember los15 and 17 had serious problem with battery consumption so it was hard to use, now it's better. I use now aicp 16 but I was using stock marshmallow 32.2.A.5.11 several days ago. The stock is amazing, fast, no kernel panics, bugs at all. But I had a battery life there only for one day even with stock, as I have it with custom los14. So los14 maybe is more battery consuming a little bit. But don't except that android 11 is less buggy and battery consuming than los14.
As far as I tested android 11 it's more or less OK, even for now it can be used for daily usage. But it will likely to be a bit worse than los14 according to battery life. I think you can backup the stock with twrp 3.4.0 and try android 11. If it's not OK for you, you can easily restore the stock by twrp.

Do you use this marshmallow firmware with AICP 16 and LOS 18 ? If no, which one ?
And what about kernel panics, reboots and some games impossible to install on play store on your side on LOS 18 ?

I haven't used stock for years, but some days I've gone back to it just to see and find out what about root here. The last nougat there has no way to get the root, so I've downgraded to marchmallow. I also uploaded some stock ftp to my cloud.
Now I used aicp. Kernel panic are possible here but over two days I havent faced a one.
And yes, big games like war robots and call of duty are impossible to install with all nik, bit and flame gapps. There is some storage permission problem even though that I gave the neccesary ones. But you can find the games on 4pda.ru download and install them. The other bug is that vanced root YouTube doesn't work with all three gapps too. Maybe the reason of two problems there is still no opengapps for android 11.
I found some info about YouTube bug https://github.com/YTVanced/Vanced/issues/201
There is the error when downloading war robots.
01-07 18:15:19.260 E/Finsky:download_service(10456): java.io.IOException: Can't create file:///storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/com.android.vending/com.pixonic.wwr/temp.main.106419.com.pixonic.wwr.obb
So I decided to check storage/emulated/0. I tried ES file manager and root explorer. And find that emulated folder is empty. But it should be not. Maybe be its a clue.
