[Q] Vodafone 858 smart CyanogenMod: help please!

First of all, I would like to say hello, since I'm new on this forum!
So, to begin with, my problem is the following: I'm trying to install the CyanogenMod on my vodafone 858 smart. I followed the instructions on this forum:
-rooted my phone
-installed ROM Manager + Clockwork recovery
-in ROM Manager I selected Install ROM from SD card -> checked to make a backup, to wipe data and cache and to wipe dalvik cache
-phone rebooted into recovery mode -> could't see anything but the small hourglass
-waited for more then an hour, nothing changed, hourglass was still there
-took out battery, reinserted it, started phone and everything worked properly, but I still have 2.2 version of Android
-I tried to install CyanogenMod again, this time switching off my phone, and rebooting into recovery mode manually
-after rebooting into recovery mode, a message appeared, saying it is unpacking 1/2 (the process bar not moving anything not even after an hour) and below it states that the 'update has failed'
Could anyone please help me with this issue, I'd really like to upgrade my phone, but I can't seem to manage.
ps.: sorry if this has been asked, I couldn't find a similar thread.
Thank you!
HELP! My phone stuck on boot screen (or boot loop) can someone upload their backup of vodafone 858 phone (or system.img) file???
PLZ HELP My phone dont work...

[Q] How to recover from firmware update loop?

Hi, I have a Window N11 tablet which is one of those cheapo ones but want to try and get it working for the kids to play with.
When I power on, it displays the 'N11' logo and then recovery system v1.3.35.
The next message is "E:check failed, Recover failed, please reboot and recover again!"
The only option I can select is 'Reboot system now'.
Remaining items that I can't select are factory reset, system recover, update from sd card and update from udisk.
Can anyone help please?

ASUS MeMO Pad 7(ME70C)

After trying to root my tablet with ZenFoneRoot, my Tablet went into Demo mode and I couldn't use it at all. I tried flashing with the classic ASUS method (putting the firmware on the SD and updating) but after the update completed, demo mode was still there. So I went into fastboot mode and did a "fastboot wipe system", realising after that I can flash everything except for the system/ directory, which was not a .img file (duh, silly me).
If I select recovery from DroidBoot, I get a message saying "Installing system update" followed by "Error" and that's it... no recovery menu, no nothing.
What should I do to recover my tablet?
Here are the contents of my update zip file from ASUS.
http ://i.imgur.com/LT5SDMj.png
After some research I flashed the WW_MeMo_Pad-11.2.3.17.3-2014100 droidboot (fastboot.img), boot and splashimage and now I can:
fastboot -w -i 0x0b05 flash update UL-K017-WW-11.2.3.21-user.zip
But I get the following error
E: unable to rename file /cache/update.zip: Cross-device link
Tried doing a
fastboot erase cache
without any luck...
Do you guys have any ideas?
Also tried creating a yaffs2 image using "mkyaffs2 system/" but I get a zlink: Invalid Arguments error
A few days later, I contacted Asus, explained the problem and they asked me to send my tablet somewhere out of town and I have to pay for the service (which I think will cost me 50% of the tablet's value). Well this didn't help at all.
I even tried writing a bash script that would fastboot flash system/path for every file in the system directory (yes, flashing ~1000 files took me 30 minutes). But the tablet won't start, even though the files are there and I wiped the system & cache partition before. I still don't understand how the recovery option works or why "wipe data" gives me an error. All I need is a valid system.img file, that's all.
From my research, I'm starting to think that the .zips are signed with SignAPK.
Sorry for asking this question, over and over again. I just want to share my progress with this, seeing that there are some posts without replys regarding this product and with the same problem).
What if I compile Android, copy the libs/ and etc/ directories and flash the resulting system.img (will try this tomorrow).
Thank you!

I am having the same problem .I cannot get into recovery mode,as u explained in above. i think RootZenFone app only works for android:4.3
Thanks for sharing
Same boat here
I tried rooting my ME70C/K01A with RootZenFone-1.4.5r.apk.
Unfortunately I tried it after the 4.4.2 update and now I seem to be stuck in some sort of demo mode. There's a blue icon in the notification bar and I occasionally get a pop-up dialog saying that demo mode has stopped.
I purchased it just this week so I'm thinking back to the store it goes. Maybe I'll just stay with my Motorola Xoom..
bob
Well what I did since the last time I posted was:
- I successfully created a system.img image (using the tools in ADK) that I can flash into my MeMo pad, but the tablet doesn't boot even tough it was a successful flash Anddddd... I'm stuck at this point. Any more ideas?
To remove the offline demo in the notification in ME70C
To remove the offline demo in the notification
1. Enable developer mode in tab.
2. Download APD_offline_ME70C.zip and follow the step mentioned in contentupdateSOP0624.pdf.Once you go thought all the step mentioned .Tab will start playing the demo. (Note:-it will to update around 4-5mins, you check in notification bar)
3. Now need to deactivate the demo mode.
When the demo video playing on screen
Hold Back Key for more than 10 seconds, until is shows a page to key in password 741603.
The tab will automatically reboot and wipe all user data and deactivate demo mode.
Wait until factory reset complete. Once everything is finished tab will boot up with welcome screen
In this process the tab will be factory reset .So backup the data
I found the APD file and contenASUS website
Successfully rooted Asus Memo Pad(Me70c)K01A
1. Go to setting- Developer Option and enable USB Debugging.
2. Wi-Fi and forget network (if had connected access point).
3. Disable Wi-Fi and put the tab in Airplane mode.
4. Download and install RootZenFone-1.4.6r.apk
5. Then run the app. Below press the button “ok I know, please root!” . A warning will pop up just press ”OK”. It may take around 2-3 mins to finish; mean time will show message that demo mode active.
6. Check the notification bar there should be brown the update finish.
7. Power off the tab and boot to boot-loader and then select recovery.
8. The tab will restart to recovery and automatically make system update and gives an error and reboot the tab.
Now there must be SuperSU installed in app list. Then just update the SuperSU app from the play store.

I found this thread while looking for a way to unlock the bootloader but I did not do step 7 - I used 1.46r (attached), installed it, forgot network, went to airplane mode, ran Root Zenphone and then rebooted (not to recovery) and I am now rooted with Busybox installed and not in Demo Mode (and didn't have to disable it)

Hi I have the same issue, but I have no success with "Hold Back Key", when video is playing his entering after few seconds in full screen and back key from the screen dissapear. Please can you help me with that. Thanks!

I cannot get into Recovery Mode. I boot into Fastboot, select Recovery mode, unit reboots, see the ASUS logo and then it hangs and eventually goes to a blank screen. Almost like the recovery partition is empty.
I was trying to restore my tablet back to a fresh install so I ran (in fastboot mode):
fastboot erase system
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
How can I get stock recovery back? All I can do it get into fastboot mode. Unit has no OS on it now since I wiped the system partition.

[Q] i8552 "CWM bootloop" after a reset...

Hi friends!
I'm having problems with my 8552 since that i've restored him with the Android "Format and restore" stock option. I'm using "Bionic Monkey rom" and in the tutorial the rom creator quote this text of XDA "Never click reboot recovery in advanced option in CWM Recovery it will cause bootloop or factory reset from phone settings do factoryreset from CWM Recovery,if by mistakenly u got bootloop just flashed CWM Recovery again. ( Remember this time Auto Reboot should be Checked )”
So... I don't remember but i think that option was used by me... :crying: And, now the 8552 always enter in CWM recovery and don't go to Android system.
And more... To enter in "download mode", is possible only if i choose this option in the Advanced Menu in the CWM, and still yet the Odin don't recognize them. :crying::crying::crying: The windows can't initiate the device. (code 10), e i'm using the same machine that i've installed the rom previously.
Somebody can help me? Any help is welcome!
And... Sorry my bad English, i don't like to use the translator, so i try of my way.

Hi,
Try to flash CWM again with un-check Auto Reboot.
After finish flashing don't reboot device, remove usb cable then remove battery for a while then insert battery and restart your device again.
This work with my device.
You maybe have to remove battery for a while then insert battery then Vol down+Home+Power button to goto download mode.
