Display turning off after 5 seconds after notification - How to extend the display going back to sleep too soon? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before you tell me to look through the settings: there IS NO SETTING to force the screen to stay on for longer when receiving a notification! Nada! The sleep mode time has NOTHING to do with notifications or the lock screen.
So I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro running MIUI 12. Please let me know how to fix this, because I'm already enjoyed to death. My job involves constantly receiving notifications and I'd prefer NOT to have to constantly turn the screen back on or touch the screen every 5 seconds. When the screen is turned off and you receive a notification, the screen ALWAYS shuts off after 5 seconds without exception! You can't change this. This makes it impossible to read a notification longer than 1 syllable. It forces you to either touch the screen to prevent it from going back to sleep or click the power button to turn the screen back on. So now I'm logging for a mod or an app or something to extend this automatic 5-second interval before the screen goes back to sleep after a notification.
Looking forward to extending it to at least 30 seconds! Thanks in advance!

[Q] How to turn on screen by touching it? (while it isn't locked yet)

Hello, I come from a Nokia 5800 and this behavior was common in CFWs, but I can't find anything similar on android yet.
What I mean is, android's behavior is something like this:
- 30 seconds go by and the screen dims.
- 5 seconds more and screen turns off.
- 2 seconds more and lockscreen kicks in.
- If you want to use the phone now, you must press power or home button.
In Nokia 5800, it was something like this, and what I'm looking on android:
- 30 seconds go by and screen dims.
- 5 seconds more and screen turns off.
- xx seconds more and lockscreen kicks in. Also (this is the important part!) if you tap the screen at this point while the screen is off, it turns on back again! Kinda like when its dim and you touch it and it lights up again. Same behavior but with screen off!
My question is, Is there some way to replicate this behavior on android?
Thanks.

Lockscreen timeout

Is it in any way possible to change the lockscreen timeout? About 5 sec is a bit to less. I would like to have 15 sec.
There is a timeout?
My screen is locked immediately after turning it off...
Sorry for confusing...the other way.
If I switch the screen on, it stays in the lockscreen for about 5 sec and switch of the screen after this time. I would like to have it stay on for about 15 sec.

Click to collapse
Maybe an app does it with lockscreen functions but that is there so in case you the phone in your pocket and by accident button hits, screen doesn't waste your battery.
I agree, sometimes it become annoying how fast it turns itself off and I am yet to see any settings in phone menu,
I was hoping there is something in default.prop or build.prop or so...

Timeout: Power button to unlock timeout extend

With the S9+ powered up but the screen black: Press power button and I get the PIN screen as I have selected. In 3 seconds, the screen goes dark again. Can this be extended? The timeout is too short to read notifications before it goes black.
I am not referring to the screen timeout that is easily modified in settings.
Thanks (sorry if this is a dup - I did search)
Answer: 3 seconds is the built-in value
I had a chat session with Samsung and they confirmed that the built-in timeout is 3 seconds and can't be changed. That is the answer.
FYI: They have a very nice tool that allows them to take over your phone and you can watch them work.
Use Case
1. Phone is booted up, uses a pattern to unlock, allows notifications on the lock screen, has 30 second timeout (example)
2. Screen is black
3. Press Power button
4. You get the unlock screen and any notifications that exist - possibly many of them. This is allowed in the notification and lock screen settings
5. You start to read through the notifications to see if there are any that need attention and if not, you just put the phone down
6. In 3 seconds from the point when you get the lock screen and notifications, the screen goes black again unless you do something
The point is that you should be able to set a longer time (e.g., 15 seconds) for the screen to stay on before it goes black. That way you could review the notifications to see if you really want to log in and do something. This would not appear to be a security problem since the phone is still locked.
This is the way it is designed - working as designed per Samsung.

There seems to be a work around. If you turn on face unlock, but don't point it at your face, it seems the lock screen will stay on and keep trying to find your face. Of course, you may not want to use face unlock.

Huawei honor 8x screen timeout always 5 seconds

So I went into settings, changed the sleep mode to anything else but 5 seconds and my screen sti always times out after 5 seconds. I timed all of them.
Went into developer settings, changed phone screen to "always on" still 5 seconds timeout.
So if anyone has insight on how to change the backlit screen timeout so i don't have to constantly tap my phone while scrolling through messages or the internet i would be forever grateful.

How to make wake up screen on notifications last longer

heys guys, i recently downloaded a calendar app that wakes my screen up when an event gets notified, fact is it just wakes up for like 2 secs.
in the calendar app settings you can decide how much time it has to stay awake, but it doesn't work at all. even if i set it up to stay awake for 30 secs, my screen gets back to sleep in like 2 secs, i tried to change every possible setting (display stuff, battery stuff etc) but i can't find a solution to it.
any idea pls? thanks
