Question Will the nord 2 get gcam support? - OnePlus Nord 2 5G

Im just curious if nord 2 will support gcam and whether developers will port it because of the mediatek chip. I'm planning to buy one and i really wish to have gcam. Any answers will be helpful.

No.

Edit 2022-02-11:
- MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix (GCam 8.1)
----
The only "well" supported Mediatek phone is the Redmi Note 8 Pro and you need root to fix the viewfinder lag... it's just not a good experience.
If you want to use GCam, buy a phone with Snapdragon.

Guys plz check in apps section. I found one working gcam.

I briefly had the Realme GT Neo/X7 Max 5G, which has the same MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip as the Nord 2. I found that the mods by Nikita and Wichaya worked well. I hope that helps.

It works well indeed, but it's not better than the original app for now

Ok I tried a bit more with different APK and https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/ BSG version work very well. The details are quite similar to the default app, but colors are slightly better, HDR is way better also in Gcam

Can you link the version and config you used? I'm having troubles with BSG, but the Wichaya mod works fine for me (albeit with some annoying viewfinder lag).

I'm waiting for someone to provide the exact config they've used too, it's too confusing just providing the link to the BSG versions without specifying

I'm using Nord 2 for a month and yes it does support GCam and it gives more natural colored photos compared to the stock one plus Nord 2 camera.
Here's the link to download GCam V8.1,
BSG: MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix
Download MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV1zfix by BSG.
www.celsoazevedo.com

I got this working pretty good on my Indian Nord 2. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/f/dl55/
Need time to compare the stock and this Gcam. Not using configs as the camera won't work after loading it. More testing to be done...

Hey there!
I just recently bought it and i am trying to configure everything perfectly
Do you guys have any advice besides the switch from stock to gcam app?
and in this Regard:
OnePlus restores support for Google Camera mods in new OxygenOS update
Slowly fixing the hot mess
www.androidpolice.com
-> Does someone know if I NEED a ROM/Root because of the update?
Or what else could I do to prevent it?
I dont really want to risk/do a root honestly.....
Thanks for the help!

There are many versions of Gcam even without viewfinder lag who works perfectly (no wide cam tho but it's bad anyway), with configs etc, the details and quality are better than the stock app. Check the Nord 2 group on Telegram https://t.me/Oneplusnord2Gcam (I'm on a 8.3 or 8.4 version of Gcam it's great, slightly noisy but waaaay less artefacts and better overall quality than stock, especially when you zoom)

Anyone with Zenfone 6 please share the compatibility with Gcam 6.1 or 6.2. This phone has near stock android and Sony IMX 586 sensor so i think it will have great gcam support. I wonder if third party camera app will be able to trigger the flip camera, for example shooting selfie with the 48mp camera using gcam.

Theoretically we shouldn't be able to shoot RAW, but from the information i've gathered we can shoot raw in stock camera app. I don't know how's the situation in 3rd party apps.
I'm worried a bit about gcam now. How will it work without full level_3 support.

Many phones also have full support instead of level 3 and gcam works fine. Including zenfone 5z.
Without raw support, (sony phone) the gcam will not work.

Dunno much about this stuff but I downloaded the Camera2 API Probe app on my Xiaomi Mix 3 just to see what the results are, and they are the same as the ones in TechTablet's Zenfone 6 video. And GCam works perfectly fine on my Mix 3. So it should work on the Zenfone 6 as well. The question that remains is, will the camera flip when switching to selfie cam in GCam? I haven't seen anyone test GCam on this phone yet.

Interesting. I think it's because of the SD855 chipset. Which version did you test? If you don't mind, try this one https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_RazerPhone2_V1c.apk according to cstark it works on the SD855 Samsung Galaxy S10e.

I will share my favorites as well:
I prefer MGC_7.3.020_Parrot043_V7 and everything works flawlessly.
I have been using the Parrot builds for several months and its consistently great. The Poco doesn't have OIS, the Mi8 has a smaller 1.8 aperture, ( vs 2.0) The Mi8 has a dual LED flash, and a wider range of abilities with video recording. So with this mind, the Parrot builds officially support the Mi8, while Poco builds are obviously designed specifically for the Poco and they often omit functions that the mi8 can use.
I also like the On Fire builds ( made for Poco but keeps all options available for other phones.) and I also like GCam_7.0.009_MiIXSE.RPII.MiVIII_V1
I recommend using the Parrot's 7.0.009 final goodbye version with my settings.

a Good GCAM with my settings for Mi 8 and Poco F1

Hello friends,
I have a pocophone f1. Almost all hardware features are the same as the Mi 8 except Mi 8's OIS feature.
For me and according to the test results of xda users using Mi 8, this is the best GCam 7.x versions for now.
I want Mi 8 users to try this GCam with my settings and I hope I can deserve a Thanks. :good:

I found out that the best version is MGC_6.1.021_MI8_V2e.apk with the recommended settings but BSG stopped releasing builds for the Mi8. That one is incredibly outdated and kind of buggy

Me and some mi 8 users tested as you said BSG version and other modders versions. The best so far is the Parrot's gcam 7.0.009 final goodbye version that I have given at the top link.
I hope that Poco f1 active developer BSG, who I appreciate and respect, will make more better on updated GCam versions.
Thanks.
Thread Updated on 11.03.2020 for another good GCam. Thanks to onFire and @cstark27
You can also install and use two Gcams at the same time.
on 22-03-2020, I have tested latest parrot's gcam I have been waiting for a long time to working in pocophone f1 and mi 8.
Also last fewdays I have tested latest gcam versions san1ty, onfire, the_dise, pitbull, marlin-ku, urnyx05, burial and jairo_rossi too.
Unfortunately, Still picture quality of two gcams I have shared above beat all new 7.x gcam versions.
I use the Burial version that may be the only one that you have not try?. It works almost perfect. The only thing that I think that doesn't work is the eis or oiS on video.
Astro, amazing
Light painting option, amazing too
Video with both cameras (wide and tele with no estabilización)
HDR and hdr+ amazing again
Portrait, ok
Lots of options
...
Almost perfect on mi8 with last oficial firmware
I use and test burial's many and last versions too. Also i have special config for burial :
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...rs-gcam_7.2.010_burial-vb_release03.03.20.xml
With my settings (above .xml) burial's night shot is good BUT onfire's gcam that I share link and settings best and beat burial's and all until this time
Please try onfire's gcam with my settings, look photo details and sharpness on computer and then make your decision

Hello! Try this one for Poco;
I have already tested UltraCVM_v4 and PixelCam_7.3_V5.0 gcams.
I don't like using separate setting or XML for different modes. So I am doing my tests as a single setting or XML. For example, with PixelCam_7.3_V5.0, I think I caught a good setting in night mode, but with the same settings, the day mode is shooting badly.
There is still no gcam to replace the onFire and parrot gcams I have used so far.

The GCam 7.3 versions bring Astrophotography mode and better night sight mode to the Motorola One Fusion Plus along with other older features such as HDR+, Timelapse, portrait mode, etc. The available GCam port is compatible with Android 10.
The standard camera app working very well and the pictures are more than just very good.
Video defaults fully-zoomed in the viewfinder. Any solution?

All 4 cameras can work only if a gcam build is made specifically for this device. (But it's very unlikely all 4 lenses, specially the depth, to work well even so)
You can, though, have wide angle support when newer versions of gcam becomes available, as the newer pixels have wide-angle lenses.
I'd suggest you to stick to the latest stable builds as available.

Firstly, you're off topic with your display issues.
Secondly, it's the one fusion+ thread and not the g7.
Thirdly, how does "white dots on orange yellow surface" have to do anything with image persistence?
And lastly, gcam's image processing tends to have some colour artifacts, specially if it isn't built for the device on which you're using it on (more so if HDR+ is on). What you're talking about is probably the result of the same.
Please be on the proper thread and on topic next time

Thank you for helping me?. I totally forgotten that Gcam apk is from Pixel phones, and only newer Pixel XL phones have had 3 or 4 cameras dumb me xD.
I found some configuration file for my phone, and apply to Gcam from developer Nicki.
Maybe its reason because fusion plus is a newer phone and no developer is working for now, maybe in future will be supported. But for now offical update is far away. I hope that Android 11 will fix this software issue because it has great potential in camera hardware.

There's no version of GCam available specifically for the device. As of now, there's a version based on Google Camera 7.2 for the pixel devices, which works fine on the one fusion+ (that's what I'm using atleast, do note video recording on the back camera seems broken in this version). You can get it from the main thread here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/google-camera-mods/gcam-google-pixel-1-2-3-t3875663
Also, there are other ports by other Devs. If you're interested check those out and see if it suits your needs.

Thanks for referring to the thread. Funny enough that's the one I used itself on my marlin to get astrophotography Lol. Nice to know it works well on the MOF+ as well.
But which other ports of GCam you mean exactly, I mean where to find them?

GCam 7.3
The GCam 7.3 versions bring Astrophotography mode and better night sight mode to the Motorola One Fusion Plus along with other older features such as HDR+, Timelapse, portrait mode, etc. The available GCam port is compatible with Android 10.

S21 GCam Ports

Discuss about the S21 GCam Ports here whenever they're out
Is that the Google Camera? Being a Pixel owner the last few years I would love it if the camera app worked on the S21.

Yeah there are already google camera ports for the S20 and they will probably make it compatible or make a good config with the S21

Congrats! it's a great phone
also GCam might not get ported to the exynos version (or it will but will take more time than the snapdragon version) i'm not sure though
Was able to try out Gcam on a Snapdragon store demo model today. Works similar to S20/Note 20 series in that front camera still doesn't work and Zoran's package fix enables the telephoto cameras to work. Pictures of all 4 rear cameras attached using Wichaya's gcam, might not look the best since I quickly used my S20 Ultra's profile without having time to tweak it.
Is there much benefit to GCam here? Samsung's app looks good from what I've seen.
On my Oneplus 6 it was useful, as the Oneplus app lacks panorama and Googles image processing is better.

It depends on whether or not you like Samsung's image processing. I personally still don't though will admit they have improved over time. The biggest issue is still under lower light, where they have aggressive sharpening and noise reduction. Fine details are often a problem indoors, like hair or fur. The main camera's sensor is pretty large so that helps, but the ultra wide and telephoto sensors aren't so it's more noticeable.
For those curious, I used Wichaya's Samsung Gcam here (3rd one): https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1501/
I've not used gcam before - you can still just switch between the apps can't you? If so, it'd be good to have both and compare
how do we get the 2 zoom lenses to work with the above gcam ?

Got my Snapdragon S21 Ultra and here are my findings so far. It seems Gcam will freeze up more often in low light (you can unfreeze it by switching cameras, but it will freeze again after a few seconds). Telephoto camera and ultra wide are more likely to freeze because they have a smaller sensor thus less light. I've updated my XML for Wichaya's gcam that should work a little bit better.
*UPDATE* seems like setting stream configs helps stability and reduces/gets rid of freezing. Attached is updated XML.

Are you guys using the Snapdragon version ? The gcam I loaded can't take any photos at all.... Only black screen lol on exynos 2100
Thanks for updated XML file. Still get the odd freezing, but better. Yay to having an instant shutter again lol

ZGCAM 7.4 https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1340a/
Alright guys, just an update on my findings. It would appear that ZGcam is actually the best Gcam build for the S21 series right now on both Exynos and Snapdragon models. For some reason I can't seem to fully disable focus tracking so autofocus in lower light can be a hit or miss. There are also differences between the models though based on what Samsung has chosen to support and what they disable.
Snapdragon S21 series: Supports all rear cameras (for the S21 Ultra, that includes both the 3x and 10x telephoto). No gcam support video on the telephotos at the moment. Front facing cameras also do not work because Samsung disabled front camera RAW for S10/S20/S21 snap series with the exception for the S10 Lite and S20 FE.
Exynos S21 series: I don't own this but based on reports, the front camera will work! However, the telephoto cameras won't, so Exynos S21 series only support the main and ultra wide cameras. Since I don't have the Exynos model, try the XML for the Exynos S20 here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/working-gcam-and-config-for-s20-exynos.4203625/

I just posted on reddit since it's easier to do captions there. I only posted the telephoto cameras since they have a smaller sensor and benefit the most from gcam in my opinion.
https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/lb89no
Any chance of the Exynos model getting a gcam port that works with the telephot lenses?
