Galaxy A10s shuts down after update is 99% complete - Samsung Galaxy A10 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
I searched a lot for my problem but couldn't find any solution so I decided to post here...
I tried to update my mothers Galaxy A10s officially from the settings but after restarting and booting to blue screen which it shows percentage of installing update , install goes until 99% then it shuts down and doesn't boot up when I hold power button , I tried every combination like power + volume down or volume down then power button and etc. only the power button + volume up works which it boots the installing screen and same happens , 99% and shuts down!
I installed samsung usb driver and odin then I connected the phone holding volume up and down , the download screen for firmware shows up successfully , but here is my question , is there any way that I can update the phone without losing data on it? I'm pretty sure that the downloaded update on phone is corrupt , is there any way to replace it from computer and let it update normally?
data on the phone are really important to my mother and if I flash the phone , they are lost! so please let me know if there is any way to fix this issue , thanks

hi i encountered exactly this same issue, could you elaborate a bit more how to get the download screen for firmware? while i'm worried about data loss as well, i rather have a working phone.

First download your phones USB driver , you can simply search Samsung Galaxy A10s USB driver in google ,
To make sure your phone is connected to your pc correctly you can also download Odin ,
Connect your phone to you PC while holding Volume up + Volume down at the same time , it should boot up to Download screen asking you to continue or restast by volume up and down ,
As I found other ppl in other threads in this forum also having same issue in recent days , seems the update package from samsung was corrupt and there is no samsung tech support in my area

yeah same here no samsung tech support as far as i know
thanks
the device is also not my device and not in my possesion so i'll need to pass along the information to a less tech savy person. i hope i don't send the wrong links

Thanks for your help , yeah I know how to flash the device , but this was really strange happening since we did official samsung update and broke the firmware so we weren't prepared to get backup first since they are legit updates and we put our trust in samsung and their testing before releasing updates , now I know they have really poor testing on their softwares before release , I can flash but it will delete all the data and pictures on my mothers phone ....

I just found the solution and fixed it! , no data is corrupt and its working like a charm.
To fix follow these instructions:
1. First download your phone firmware (
Download A10S Firmware Binary 5 SM-A107F https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-A107F
SM-A107M https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-A107M )
*Note: Find your own phones build number , there is no way to find out just to try one of them and see if you get an error or not, if you get the error you have downloaded the wrong firmware and it will show you the correct build number in download mode. (Their partition table size is also different)
2. Download pit file from this link: https://gsm-flash.com/samsung-galaxy-a10s-pit-file-download-a107/
(A107M or A107F)
3. Load onto odin BL, AP, CP, HOME_CSC (*ITS IMPORTANT TO SELECT HOME_CSC NOT CSC OTHERWISE YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST*)
4. In Pit tab , attach the pit file you just downloaded from the link above. next make sure in option tab , re.partition check box is checked.
5. HOLD VOLUME + & - TOGETHER AND PLUG IN USB CABLE CONNECT TO YOUR PC DOWNLOAD MODE WILL COME UP VOLUME UP TO CONTINUE AND ID COM PORT WILL BE ADDED ON ODIN
6. Press Start and Flash
Enjoy!
* My phone version was A107F. and build number A107FXXU8CUG1

Encountering problems when doing an OTA update is *very* common - on ALL models. It doesn't mean that the update wasn't tested, and it doesn't mean that every single user is going to get the same issue. It just happens because technology isn't perfect. That's why it's your responsibility to keep your data backed up at all times

Galaxy S2 i9100 3UK Help Please

Hey,
I decided last night I would try and backup my phone, however Kies thought it would be fun to start updating, and somehow it locked up. Now I get a message on my phone that says :-
Firmware Upgrade Encountered an Issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
Now I have done what it says however everytime i connect it up i get a message saying "USB Device Not Recognised"
I have downloaded the drivers, with no such luck, and tried installing them via Kies again with no joy. Reading on the forum I found out about the recovery mode which I have manage to get the phone into and downloaded what I thought was the right thing but it's not working at all.
I think what Ideally i need is a way to get the phone back to a working version, I just have no idea how to do it. I have downloaded Odin as that seems to be a program that every page says.
Not sure if you need the information but it was on 3G UK network.
Sorry this probably sounds extremely noob like but I've spent 10 hours on it already and am confused beyond imagination
Kies is one of them horrible programs that just doesnt work properly.
as you have read about Odin, i will assume you know you can use this to flash a stock firmware to your phone.
Have a look for intratechs thread of offical firmwares (linked below), download one for your phone and flash it via odin.
Please read the top information in his thread it tells you what to do and how to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
How do i resolve the other issue of windows not recognizing it ?
put the phone in download mode and pc should recognize the phone
If we're talking about a phone running stock firmware that you've never mucked around with (rooted it, run non-stock firmware on it, etc, etc), send it in to Samsung/whomever you bought it from for warranty service.'
If you start flashing things in order to try & fix it, you run the slight risk you might brick it/void your warranty. Which means you end up paying to get it fixed.
I wouldn't tempt fate if I were in your situation.
If we're talking about a phone you've been mucking around with (like most of us here ), then go to Samfirmware.com & search for the original firmware that came with your phone & flash it following whatever instructions they have for flashing firmware downloaded from their site.
Alternatively, if you're happy with the latest firmware available for your phone model/carrier/country, find/download the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google). This will allow you to download a tarball of the latest available firmware for your carrier/country, which you can flash according to the instructions here.
Also, before you do anything, try a factory reset if you haven't already.
1.Find your new firmware version and download the file from the links
2.Extract the file, so that you now have a .tar file.
3.Download and run the Odin software from the provided link (200KB)
4.Reboot the phone to download mode
To do this, turn the phone off, then simultaneously press the volume down key, the home button and then press the power button. If you see a warning, press the volume up button to continue.
5.In Odin, click the button named “PDA” and select your .tar file (your rom).
If the rom has several files, also put in the PDA, Phone/Modem and CSC files. but do NOT put in a .pit file.
6.Connect the phone to the computer with usb cable, and wait till ID:COM turns yellow.
7.Click the “Start” button, and Odin will flash your rom.
As simple as that.
I have the files however CANNOT get windows to detect the phone....it simply refuses every single time.
All i get is USB Device Not Recognised
Which i get after holding down, Power, Vol Down and Menu till i get the download screen. Occassionally (VERY RARELY) it has been detected by odin then fails on factory

Are you plugged directly into a port on the PC, and not through a keyboard pass-through port, or a USB hub? Or have you tried a different cable?
Ok guys,

[Solved] Killed S5830i

I'm not sure what I did but now the S5830i will not go past the initial Samsung splash screen. I can't get into recovery or download modes using the usual keys.
I managed to get it into emergency download mode by holding down volume up + volume down + power and then putting the battery in, but the PC doesn't recognise the device (drivers are installed) and therefore ODIN doesn't pick it up either.
Suggestions please?

S5830i - not recorgnised - win 7 SOLVED!
Hi All,
Just had a horrible day after I killed my little Ace flashing a CM ROM (my fault). Knew I needed to flash stock via Odin....
Went like this - collect all the stock rom files etc from various XDA forums. Thanks for those!
Go into download, open Odin.
"Device has malfunctioned, Windows does not recognise it".
I have 2 laptops running Win 10. and PC running Win 7. I have maybe 7 USB leads.
Went through every computer, every port, reinstalled all drivers every time, no joy. Poor little Ace stuck in download mode waiting. Nothing recognised it.
In some flash of inspiration I took phone OUT of download mode, wiped data, wiped cache and told it to reboot - this was stock recovery too, had fried CWM. It got stuck in it's Galaxy Ace screen as it had when it died....I plugged it in....and holy moly, Windows now recognised. The drivers finally installed successfully and Odin agreed with WIndows by recognising it in the COM box.
Yay me!
Thought I'd post since I've been fighting this all day and maybe it will help somebody else avoid that.
Cheers and good luck!

Help with my Samsung S7 !

Hi everyone ! I appreciate this forum very much since we do help each other here. So thanks in advance !
I've recently got a Samsung GS7 which was a carrier operator based system (Orange France) and recently, it gave me a bootloader error. I did reflash the bootloader with a newer version and also the system (Android 7.0 FTM) via Odin, all was working perfectly till I downloaded Antutu and tried the benchmarking, when the system went to the CPU multithread, the phone did reboot and when it started, I uninstalled that application to avoid problems. Then, the phone didn't want to reboot afterwhile.
I'm blocked with a black screen and all keys combination doesn't work.
I really need help. It's a G930F. If you need any information; just ask.
Hi , did you flashed 4 files on Odin ? and Did you tried to flash with Samsung Smart Swich ?

Yes, I did flash all 4 files (BL, CSC, AP and something else as described in odin).
I did try the Smart Switch recuperation feature but it didn't gave me any option, then after flashing with Odin, I did retry once the phone has completed his turn on ignition, it just gave me a feature to upgrade the phone.
The Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization you need manualy to do like in that video , first you need to put your phone in download mode .
Because you say that screen is black hold just power button for about 10 second to make sure your device is off , then Hold vol - Home and Power to enter in Download mode for bout 7 second and then release power button , wait just litle and then press vol + like for odin flash and then try The Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization. If it Doesn't work try with old version of firmware to flash , if you are able after that to enter in to recovery Wipe Cache Partition and Reboot your phone.

The Emergency Software Recovery has been removed from Smart Switch. Sorry to say that but I can't access it.
Also, I can't enter the download mode or the recovery mode. I'll wait until the battery goes empty, and then, will try to charge it to see if it changes anything.

I think it may be a software issue, the battery was working fine three days ago, I was working with the phone for about 5 - 6 hours without charging, it wasn't a battery problem.
Tomorrow, if letting my phone discharge and then charge doesn't work, I'll put it in charge for 3 hours.
Thanks !

Is it a software issue or a hardware issue ?
I'm not sure first what file you was downloading and how you mean like screen cracked ? Colors or what ? ( Try to do Factory Reset and do Wipe Cache Partition if the problem comes again probably you have device with hardware issue .
Here is the screenshot of my software system infos.
Also, I get a small line with grey pixels like the old TVs

Hi there,
It is possible to downgrade however you will lose all of your data
first you have to download a previous version of android using this website:
https://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model
second you have to download the latest version of odin software
Download Odin tool and run it as an administrator.
Restart your Samsung Device in download mode.
To enable download mode on your Samsung phone – press Power, Home and Volume down button together for about few seconds until and unless you see the download mode on the screen of the phone. As soon you see the sign on your phone, tap the Volume up button and proceed to the next step.
Now, connect your Samsung device to PC with USB data cable.
Odin must detect your phone automatically. Check “Auto Reboot” & “F. Reset Time” options.
Check the “AP” option and locate the firmware file from your computer.
Wait until your Samsung phone analyze the file automatically.
At this position, you are all set. Click on the “Start” button and the flashing progress will be started on the Odin tool.
Leave your PC for like 5-10 minutes and the process will be completed successfully.
Odin will show you the “Pass!” message indicating the flashing is completed. Also, your phone will be rebooted automatically.
Would u pls help me with the link of the firmware ? I am confused how to select .

Samsung J3 Achieve (SM-J337p) *Stuck in factory binary loop *

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this. Hopefully somebody out there can point me in some sort of direction. Ill make this really brief....
_ Samsung J3 Achieve - SM-J337p
_In factory binary mode
_Will not boot into download mode
_Adb debugging cant be reached
_Will only go into recovery mode
************Any methods out there that i can establish some sort of communication with the device so i can get it on its way back to life???*******************
Hi , maybe you can try with USB jig which put your device into Download mode , you can buy on eBay or some other sites , or you can try to download latest stock firmware for your device and extract boot.img , system.img and to flash just select from recovery adb , write inside minimal ADB & Fastboot command tool sideload boot.img and press enter also try system.img . You have on the internet how to extract those files from Samsung stock firmware . Good luck : )
Hey thanks! I'm going to try right now when I get gone. I bought an SD card because I read that helps if you do it right.
Bump, i have same problem, i can not put phone in downlaoad mode, please give link for USB JIG
Solution
I own the same fone. And I nuked it the EXACT same way. You will need it's factory firmware. Pull out your battery, hold down the volume down button and while holding it down plug your fone into the computer. Phase 3 profit.

Keep the battery out while doing all of that? I followed what you said but it didn't even turn on without the battery being in the phone ...
I'm an idiot
I'm sorry bro, I told you wrong. The thing is I think the instructions I just reread are opposite of what you gotta do but either way you'll have it working within two tries. If you got a buddy this will be easier because it's hard on the hands. You need to be holding down power, home and volume when you plug the USB in. Thing is I think I remembered the fac binary making it volume up instead of down but I couldn't swear to it. That fac binary is some weird stuff ain't it? If you need the proper working firmware I've got it.

So you are saying, take out the battery and then hold down volume, power and home and then plug the usb in? I just tried, this did not work.
Or did you mean to keep the battery in the phone and then do the same combination? Didn't work either.
Any solutions?
I'm sorry such a horribly late response. This worked on both of my achieves. I tested it just now. Still works. But leave the battery out. It's a shame xda doesn't do video. It is the same button combo as normal download mode. Just executed right before you plug in the fone.
I have a similar issue - none of the prescribed key sequences have worked. I just ordered a jig on ebay but may also try to build a recovery.zip and flash it from SD. If anyone succeeded with that and has the zip file already built, I'd be willing to donate $20 to save me the headache, lol.
This is crazy
That's crazy. I know I can't have the only J3 Achieves that does this. I've got two and tested them both. You are pulling the battery out first right? It won't do it with the battery still in. Does this work for anyone else? Is it allowable to post my Telegram username on here so I can show video of this in action?
OK, so the download jig worked. I'm able to get in download mode. Now, where can I download a reliable version of the Stock ROM? I should mention that I have to reload the ROM because what got me into this problem before is I loaded the "Combination" ROM which is actually just the factory binary test ROM. Won't make that mistake again.
What version of ODIN do I need? I think mine is pretty current. Re-piartition or not? HOME_CSC or the other CSC? I have a ROM downloaded but I haven't gotten it to load so far...
I'm on Sprint and in Ohio if any of that makes a difference...

This actually works on almost any Samsung that has a removable battery. Almost all the newer ones I've handled actually have 2 bootloaders. You can trigger emergency download mode, aka the other bootloader by interrupting the normal download mode 2x in a row, usually. Flash fails sometimes do it too. You aren't the only buddy. That's saved me more than once.
I'm not sure I follow what you're saying? I've tried flashing multiple times, sometimes with re-partition on and others with it off. One of the tries it said success after just a few seconds and rebooted the phone (into the factory binary again). Is the problem with the ROM I downloaded or how I'm trying to apply it? I believe it's the ARJ2 version that I downloaded. Maybe there is another version I should try flashing first?
OK, I got the stock ROM reloaded - finally. Now, however, I'm back to the problem that started all of these problems in the first place. When I flash TWRP, the phone won't boot. It shows the initial screen and then goes into a mode where it is either black or dark gray (momentary flashes like it's trying to do something). I've verified my version of TWRP (released in October). Any ideas how to flash this one correctly?
If this is the one from TwrpBuilder you didn't do anything wrong. It's no good. It was based on my recovery image so I know they got a good image but it doesn't work.

I know it sounds crazy but to put many of the Samsung J series (like The Samsung Galaxy J3 Achieve SM-J337P smartphone) in boot mode you: 1. Turn on your PC 2. Plug your USB cable into your PC 3. Do NOT plug your USB cable into your phone 4. Remove the battery from your phone 5. Hold your unpowered phone in your hand 6. Hold down the volume button with one finger while holding the power button down with another finger 7. At a half second later, while holder those other buttons, hold down the home button while shoving the phone end of the USB cable into the phone slot for USB. You will need many fast fingers to pull this off. If you get the phone end of the USB cable balanced right at the edge of the phone end of the USB slot, without connecting, you can rest it on the edge and then shove it the rest of the way in as you push down the home button at the same time.

Customizing Update For Samsung Galaxy J3 2018 Achieve SM-J337P
- Most users have reported that they have sourced the factory ROM and it installs, and reinstalls easily in ODIN 3.13.1 in Windows and Heimdall on Linux
- Nobody has reported finding a good TWRP .tar file, yet, that installs via ODIN 3.13.1 in Windows. HAS ANYBODY FOUND ONE? HAS ANYONE GOTTEN A GOOD WORKING TWRP ON THIS PHONE?
- Nobody has reported finding a good unlock .tar file that installs via ODIN 3.13.1 in Windows. HAS ANYBODY FOUND ONE? HAS ANYONE GOTTEN A GOOD WORKING UNLOCK ON THIS PHONE?
- Nobody has reported an install file to put LINEAGE OS on this phone via ANY flashing method, yet. HAS ANYBODY FOUND ONE? HAS ANYONE GOTTEN A GOOD WORKING LINEAGE OS ON THIS PHONE?
- To boot this phone into ODIN(AKA DOWNLOAD) MODE with the warning triangle screen, you usually have to remove battery, plug usb into pc, push the 3 buttons while shoving usb into phone at last second (This will take every finger you have)
If anybody has any break-throughs with this phone. Please post them here for all to try. It seems to be a decent phone and worth the effort.

Update: There is now a video on YouTube called: "Unlock Samsung J337P Bit 2" that shows a guy unlocking a
Samsung Galaxy J3 2018 Achieve SM-J337P using software called "GSM Tool 1.0.0.0061 by GCPro_Team 08/01/2019" and then there is also blog discussion of someone unlocking the phone with some different software called: "Samsung Tool PRO 34.1 from GCPro_Team". Don't know about the second tip but the first video shows him doing it in Windows.
