Question Fingerprint doesn't work properly when screen is locked - OnePlus Nord 2 5G

Hello,
I have problem with my Nord2 - Fingerprint doesn't work on always on display unless screen is tapped once or phone is picked up.
If always on display is off - same problem. I think there is problem when screen is locked.

Yeah it's a normal behaviour of most of the phones with AOD and with fingerprint scanner under display.
The screen needs to illuminate where you place your finger in order for the fingerprint scanner to be able to read it from below the screen and the AOD don't have this possibility (it would consume to much battery to have this zone always illuminated)
You need to tap screen or pick the phone up to switch from the AOD animation to the FIngerprint animation and be able to unlock your phone.

No. It's not a normal behaviour.
Moreover, with the very initial build it was good.
Accessible always. But 1st update had few chances related to fp which broke it from aod.

Sorry I didn't meant to be rude.
I received my Oneplus Nord 2 phone with the A.05 update and already back there the AOD didn't have the possibility to scan the fingerprint . I have a colleague with the Oneplus 9 and asked him how is the behaviour of the AOD on his phone and same thing : his phone doesn't unlock when you press finger in the AOD. You need to single tap once to bring the fingerprint icon online and only after that you can unlock the phone in the AOD screen
The only thing you can do in the OxygenOS AOD settings is toggle the
"Fingerprint icon - Show fingerprint icon temporarily when the ambient display is shown" option .
Will be able to unlock the phone in AOD mode for a few seconds only after you lock the phone, after that the fingerprint icon disappear and the digitizer turn off to save battery .

H2OS ambient display not wakes phone up on notification

I have installed H2OS on my oneplus X and it's working great. But there is only one problem, it is the ambient display features, it does wakes my phone up when I pick it up, but when I receive notifications, it does not thing. Notifications even not show up on lock screen. Is it just me or it's how the rom work ? Is there any way to get ambient display like on other roms (wake up and show notifications on lock screen) ?

Fingerprint sensor acts like unlock button

Hi guys,
I have received an update lately (MIUI Gloval 8.1 Stable - 8.1.1.0) and my struggle began. My problem is that now every time if I touch the fingerprint sensor the phone unlocks. It's REALLY annoying guys. Sometimes I lock my phone and put it down and the screen unlocks because accidently I touched it. Fingerprint is disabled, furthermore I have no lockscreen whatsoever have enabled. The fingerprint sensor at the back acts exactly like the unlock button on the side. How the hell can I disable this annoying function?
Thanks !!!
Settings - Lock Screen & Password - Manage Fingerprints - Enter Password if you have one - Apply Fingerprint to Lock Screen - choose disable?
Fingerprint wakes up the device if u haven't added any fingerprints.
That's a thing in marshmallow MIUI (even on the beta builds), it's not a bug, tapping on fp without any registered FPs wakes up the screen.
Furthermore, u said that there's 'NO LOCKSCREEN' you kept(so i assume there's neither swipe to unlock screen) so fp is waking your device everytime, and consequently, screen gets unlocked.
I see. Any way to completely disable this function? I dont want that sensor to work at all.
Me too, I have the same problem, the fp sensor wakes up the screen when I'm touching it accidentally most of the time. How can we disable this annoying "feature"?

Disable fingerprint sensor via proximity?

I have a Mi A3 and think it's great, but there is one issue I'm facing.. the fingerprint sensor is always active and when the phone is in my pocket and touches my leg, it wakes the screen after X failed attempts.
Multiple times I've pulled out my phone to find my leg has been typing numbers into the emergency dialler..
Is there any way (prefer no root - but so be it if needed..) to use the proximity sensor to kill the FP sensor? That way when it's covered in my pocket the FP sensor would be disabled and stop waking the phone all the time.
And before anyone says just put in your pocket with the screen out.. well that's just asking to get it smashed ?
Try disabling "show fingeprint icon when screen is off" feature.
Tried that one already. Unfortunately the sensor is still alive so if something touches it the phone attempts to unlock.
After a couple of attempts it seems to turn on and show buttons for emergency dialler / pin unlock.
Not sure if this would be usable on A3, but you could try this approach:
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/153948/completely-disable-the-fingerprint-sensor
Edit: just tried it on my A1. I can disable the FP sensor with:
Code:
echo soc:fpc1020 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/fpc1020/unbind
BUT, can't get it back yet (only with reboot): this should be the correct command, but it doesn't do anything
Code:
echo soc:fpc1020 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/fpc1020/bind
Custom ROMs have something like pocket mode that detects and prevents it don't they? I wish something like that would be available for stock as well. Wouldn't mind root.
I have the same problems with scanner acting in a pocket. Looks like I have to disable scanner for now. This can be done by removing recorded fingerprints from settings.
As a workaround for emergency dialing, you can use WaveUp app and set it to lock with proximity sensor. It probably won't prevent fingerprint readings, but at least the display will turn off in your pocket. Works best with root, I'm using it on Mi A1. "Turn display on when removing from pocket" feature is highly addictive. I use HW power button mainly for taking screenshots now..
Edit: Tasker with states "proximity sensor and orientation - phone upside down" and task "display - turn off" can do the same if you want to keep it simple.
Edit 2: Nicer Tasker profile, turns screen off only when the screen is locked (prevents accidental locks while using the phone):
Profile 1 - state "proximity sensor" + state variable value "%SCREEN_LOCKED ~ true", task "display - turn off"
Profile 2 - event "display unlocked", task "variable set, %SCREEN_LOCKED to false"
Profile 3 - event "display off", task "variable set, %SCREEN_LOCKED to true"
Turn display on&off with power button and you are good to go.
Thanks will give the commands a go when I get chance and see if it works on the A3.
put you phone opposite side .... screen upwards in pocket.
hi this feature works on my device when i turn off the proximity sensor the fingerprint icon does not show up on the screen
I have this problem too with Android 11.
I wanted to try the method with fpc1020 driver. The driver is here, but what is weird, that in /sys/bus/platform/devices is not such device attached :/
The easily way to do this is root the phone. After this you can disable all useless features

I have rooted phone but you probably doesn't understand the problem.
I don't want to completely disable fingerprint, I just want the FP to be disabled by proximity sensor, because it's bul*** to have enabled FP in pocket...

There"s a quick setting to add by developer settings that disable all sensors. Have you tryed? Maybe it work

Question Fingerprint sensor

I don't know anything about how under-screen fp readers work, but... Is there no way to use it when the screen is off?
On previous phones I always used the fingerprint sensor to turn on and unlock with one touch, but this N20 5G seems to only fp-unlock when A) The screen is on, and B) The "fingerprint goes here" icon is visible.
The screen will usually turn on when I pick up the phone ("Somatic Gesture"); the fingerprint icon then appears for a few seconds, then goes away. That seems to be the only window for unlocking without clicking the power button.
Am I missing a trick?
I use double tap to wake and it works great. The sensor stays lit up for about 7 full seconds before going black. YMMV
Good point, double-tap to wake was disabled by default!
Still two more taps than I'd prefer to get to the fingerprint unlock, but I guess that's more a reflection of how incredibly lazy I've become than a problem with the phone.

Question Any solutions to fixing occasional screen flickering when unlocking phone?

Flashed Ace2 to OxygenOS A.08 and updated to A.10, problem still persists.
Happens both with auto brightness enabled and disabled.

Was this issue also present on ColorOS?
Disable always on display
Any unlock securities
Fingerprint, pin, code etc..
I haven't encounter any screen flashing
I have same issue, tried turning all off, did help, but i need fingerprint unlock... Autobrightness does not work at all, just dimms the screen a bit when turned on, and goes bit up when turned off, no changes in light or dark room
So i believe i figured it out, it is connected to always-on display features, which includes animation for fingerprint unlock. There is an option to turn off animation for fingerprint when display turned off, but then you have to turn on the screen before using fingerprint...
Also this phone gets pretty warm when only looking youtube or browsing, when on 120Hz refresh rate. I used setedit app to reduce it to 90Hz, much better battery life and no heat...
One last solution for the screen flickering, turn off always-on display, and turn off fingerprint animation only, it is under security/fingerprint/fingerprint animation setting, just choose none, it still litghs up the fingerprint, but has no animation, and most important, no screen flicker...
The same problem, flashing, removing the fingerprint, and using the pattern, the problem is gone
Yeah, it started again be me, so no lighting for fingerprint, and then works fine... Just turning off animation did the trick for short time

Yes, I had a region lock, after contacting the seller. It was opened with TeamViewer, now 3 weeks. There are no region lock messages.
So the seller could remove it? Mine keeps saying only oneplus can remove it. Did you what he did? I am nit sure if it completely removed or just blocked... The bigger issue is these software issues, especially flickering which could damage the screen... I wonder if these issues exist on all oxygen os phones, or only on these flashed from color os

So turning off lighting for fingerprint fixed the problem for good?
Yes, turning off any always on display features, which includes animation and lighting for fingerprint does eliminate the problem.. i suppose it is some drivers for AOD that are incompatible. Same goes for light sensor, if you test it with software the problem is obvious, light sensor does not work at all, it is recognized, but it does not react to light changes.
Hi All,
Could anyone comment on the minimal requirements to avoid flickering and potential random restarts? At this stage I turned off AOD, turned off fingerprint for locking/unlocking (only use pass + face recognition) and turned off the auto brightness. With these settings the flickering/random restarting problem is gone. I just wonder whether there is a solution with potentially fingerprint for locking/unlocking off, but with auto brightness on and with at least basic AOD on. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi I have the same issue screen flickering and diming after turning one the screen with in addition and the most problematic the call is blocked by a message concerning the region.
If I make a factory reset the calls work work a time then the same problem comeback
i fixed screen flicker... show fingerprint icon off, Finger print animation off, AOD off. Auto Brig off
