Question Weird problem with Wifi Hotspot-some things work, some don't - Samsung Galaxy A52 5G

First, my only internet access for other devices is the hotspot from my phone. I had a Samsung Galaxy Avant for years, and everything worked with that hotspot with no problems. My husband has a Galaxy J3, and again, everything works on that hotspot as well. I upgraded to the A52 about two months ago, and the game I play the most (Merge Dragons on my Kindle) just won't connect on the A52's hotspot. It still works on the J3, but on the A52 I can't cloud save, nor will it let me into special events or my in-game inbox, or anything else that requires internet.
Most other games connect ok, but there was at least one other that wouldn't, I don't remember which, it was one I didn't play much. My husband uses more internet than I do, so he runs out of data on his hotspot before I do, and I keep being stuck missing events because my hotspot won't let my game connect, and he is out of data, while I still have plenty. I have looked at every setting I can find to figure out why this is happening, and nothing has worked. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thank you in advance!

[Q] wifi connected but can not connect

Hey I'm new to android, just got a vibrant last week. Decided to unlock it as I travel a lot. The unlock worked, but now I'm having issues with my wifi. I can connect to a wireless network but I cant load pages. The wireless signal is strong and I tried with different routers, but still no luck. Looked through the forum and googled it but couldn't find a solution. If some one could please help with this, it would be much appreciated
try clearing your current wifi settings including remembered connections, passwords, and everything else...then re-scan for networks all over again, that's all I can think of for now
By that you mean just gong into settings->wireless and networks->wifi settings and then just forget the net work, rescan, and rejoin the network? If so, I did that but am still getting the same result. If you can think of anything else or if I didnt do what you suggested correctly please let me know. Thanks

yeah, thats what I meant :/....hmmm...sounds like your connection is working, can you download stuff from the market or is it just the browser? cause I unlocked mine too and wifi works fine
No I cant download anything from the market. I cant do anything that requires an internet connection, but it does show that I am connected to a network.

hmmm...im out of tips then ...perhaps some other members can be of more assistance
I sure hope so, thanks for your help
Have you been able to try another network? My first thought was it was in Ad-Hoc mode but I could be wrong. If nothing else restore to stock firmware and then try a different unlock.
Happened to me too. It would show the wifi icon on the notification bar but wouldn't load pages. I'd go to the settings and it'd say can't turn off wifi or can't turn on wifi. And when it was "on" I'd say connecting to modem then it'd just stop. When I was using the browser on wifi it would load a page even when I had full bars. I had to turn it off then back on to load another page. Is this similar to the problem your having?

I hope this doesn't sound stupid but yesterday I uninstalled Advanced Task Manager and poof my wifi started working again. The phone also seems to suffer from less occasional lag without it installed, but that's another story for another thread. Prior to this I had to manually turn my wifi connection off and on, but even that didn't always work. Since the uninstall I have not my wifi connection once. I am currently using the stock rom, rooted with minor adjustments here and there.
hi guys, i also have this problem.
i will be taking the phone in to the tmobile store on thursday.
it shows that i am connected via wifi; however, anything that requires an internet connection does not load.
very frustrating, since just yesterday i used the samsung kies software to tether a network for my laptop. i was testing the capability of the vibrant to act as a modem, and it worked just fine.
any help would be appreciated!
thank you
Charlie
connected but not connected
I also have this problem.
In my Vibrant shows that i connected, but i can not load pages. Someone
found any solution to this problem?
Hi all,
This is happening to me too. Rebooting seems to get Wifi working correctly again. But the problem comes back eventually.
Maybe a bug in the latest JI6 update?
Wi-fi problem.
Someone found any solution for this problem?
Froyo's update will fix this issue?
Thanks.

Nexus7 android 4.0 web login problems with open network

Hi. I have both a nexus 7 as well as an HTC evo. Neither device works with my work open wifi network. The common thread is that they are both android ICS devices. The network is open but requires the user to accept an agreement before use. Both devices connect to the network, but never bring up the web agreement/authorization page and eventually simply time out.
I really need to have wifi at work and will likely sell the devices if I cannot get them working. I really don't want to do have to do so. Please help!

I had the same issue on my Guingerbread, download an app called wifi fixer that worked for me every time it runs as a service in the background and keeps the wifi active.
Does anyone have a solution? I literally will sell this tablet if I can't solve this issue because I'll be working at this place for at least 3 years and need wifi access.
Is it a certificate issue? An IP issue? Please help
The issue isn't a dropped connection. It connects fine but never brings up the authentication page. Instead the phone does nothing because its dependent on wifi data once it has a full connection. *BTW i tried wifi fixer. it didn't help

[Q] Wifi Networks Do Not Display

As usual, I am experiencing a very strange problem. My GT7510 is currenty running the Task "beginning" ICS ROM. It works great when I am at home. When I go on the road, I sometimes experience a problem where nearby open WIFI networks that I know are working do not display on my Tab. I can connect to these networks on my laptop, iPhone or my wife's iPad but they are invisible on my Tab.
The latest occurance was at a hotel that offered free WIFI. In order to access the network, I first have to open a browser and provide an access code. This is easily done on the other devices but since I cannot even see the network on my Tab, I cannot connect so the browser can give me the login page.
I have Googled the problem until my fingers are ready to bleed but have not found anyone with the same problem. Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be going on?.
Now, having posted this problem, I can tell you that I stumbled on a work-around but I have no idea why it works. Just for fun, I activated the "personal hotspot" on my Jailbroken iPhone. This signal immediately showed up on my Tab. At the same time, the hotel signal suddenly appeared as well and I was able to connect to that signal.
I am hopeful that someone can shed some light on this strange problem for me. Thanks in advance.
Bump! I could really use some help with this problem.

[Q] Device not accessible over WIFI

I've recently purchased a Galaxy Note II, i'm having an issue communicating to the device over wifi on my home network.
Wifi works fine in every other way.
Some examples of the issues I'm having:
Wifi Sync with Winamp won't detect my device unless I enable content sharing with DLNA
Wifi File explorer won't work on this phone, it's as if the phone is refusing connections over port 8000 with no user interaction
Device cannot be pinged (I'm not sure if my Desire HD responded but it never had any other the other issues)
I don't have any privacy guard type apps installed, I am rooted and I did have AdAway installed but I have tried it both with the host file installed and without.
I'm a bit lost here, and googling just returns results from 100's of people who can't connect to WiFi.
Ok, this isn't going to help anyone who comes across the same issue but wifi explorer is now working, and the device is responding to ping requests. Winamp sync still needs the DLNA stuff turned on.
I'd have liked to provide a solution but i've absoloutly no idea why it's now working, sorry.

[Q] Desperate for programmer help. Wifi tether not allowing login to PSN on...

Ok somewhat an obscure issue, and the fix that lets a VPN work over tether does not seem to fix it.
I first encountered this on I think 4.3 or 4.2 with my Galaxy Nexus prime. I would use a wifi hotspot, and all connections work fine except for when connecting my playstation Vita. It would say it could not login. So I do a connection test and everything is okay except the attempt to sign into playstation network.
I found maybe 2 other people with the same problem on different devices. I now own a rooted fire phone on 4.6.1. It too has this same problem. And it's believed by some that after 2.1 or 2.2 all native versions of wifi hotspot have this issue. I've tried treve mod, the vpn fix, and a handful of wifi hotspot apps with no luck. I don't know if these apps work as I could not establish even a normal connection through them.
I believe what I need is a kitkat compatible wifi app that doesn't rely on the native hotspot, or some way to modify it if anyone knows what's causing the blockage.
edit: To solve it on my old phone, I actually had to downgrade android to jellybean. I can't do that with this phone though.
Thanks for any help with this.
