There should be a way to trick Rollback Prevention (RP) after disabeling secure downloads to flash older fimware with older bootloader code and to somehow bypass KNOX policies which might require modeing stock fimware or SW REV. CHECK FAIL(BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 2, BINARY: 1 will happend. But even my self haven't done that yet with my samsung a125F which has a MTK chipset. Try searching for a exploit to bypass all of this hell. Another way is by flashing a custom rom that doesn't check for bootloader version code.

It is not all about knox, the SBL is preventing you too from downgradeing. This is all a big hell hole not really explained and hard to find answers for.

Cannot root my Xperia m4 (E2303) on Android 6.0.1

Hi,
A couple of days ago I tried to root my xperia m4 because I want to remove those annoying paid apps you can't remove without rooting. But I genuinely tried EVERYTHING! But nothing would work. The first problem I ran into was unlocking my bootloader, wich I could not do. I followed a lot of different guides but none of them worked. Below are a few links of the guides I followed:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/general/guide-rooting-xperia-m4-aqua-t3407215

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAnBziMMr8g

I found a lot more "guides" but they were too sketchy if you ask me.
If someone is willing to help me, I would really appreciate it!

Go to the dialer and type in *#*#7378423#*#* until it pops ups the Service Info, then press Configuration and check for Rooting Status: Bootloader Unlocked,it should say Yes,if it says No then this is the reason any of the bootloader unlocking methods did not work and unfortunately you cannot unlock the bootloader.
And what error does it exactly say when you try unlocking? Make sure you have OEM unlocking and USB debugging on in the Developer Options.

Theoretically you can use dirty cow exploit (stock kernel must be affected) to get temp root, after that you can get permanent root.

"Dirty cow exploit"? Never heard of that before, quite a funny name for an exploit if you ask me. I'll ask my good friend Google if he knows anything about this exploit. Thanks for letting me know!
And how exactly could I get a permanent root when I have a temp root? Can't find any information about it.

Yeah you can unlock the bootloader. All you need to do is go to dev options and enable OEM unlock. I was wondering if there's any cross compatibility between LG software and if it's at all possible to root it using a TWRP recovery intended for a similar phone. I don't want to try it on my new phone yet though considering the risky nature of rooting.

That's not all you need to do. Once you flip the oem unlock switch you then need to reboot to the bootloader and run the appropriate command--THEN you will really see if your bootloader can be unlocked. I don't know the command off hand but a google search should say what it needs to be
And as far as your other question, yes it is possible to use twrp for a similar phone. However it doesn't look like there is a similar phone with a similar chipset like this that has twrp already but I could be wrong. Note that cross compatibility like this is only for custom firmware like twrp, stock firmware IS NOT CROSS COMPATIBLE.

You're right there's more, I wasn't familiar with how bootloaders were unlocked until you mentioned that. After some research, unfortunately, LG has pretty much nailed tight the bootloader for all but a select few LG devices. Still, I followed a guide on how to use ADB and Fastboot in an attempt to reboot into bootloader, but sadly all it does is restart the phone normally. As far as I know, it's impossible to unlock the bootloader on this phone so I guess we're all SOL when it comes to rooting.

For some LG phones there's a process you have to go through on their website to request an "unlocking binary". I believe its something like Motorola's bootloader unlock program. You put in some phone specific info (s/n, IMEI, or something) and if its eligible to be unlocked LG will send you an unlocking binary. Then once you get the binary there's some sort of special fastboot command you have to enter, utilizing that binary, to open up your bootloader
I haven't done this myself so I don't 100% know the process, but this is what I've heard other people discussing in the past. I'll reach out to people and see if I can find the site again

First off, I appreciate you taking the time to help me out. I found what you're talking about, but it's specific to only a few devices and LG SP200 isn't one of the models listed. Also, in order to get the device ID, you first need to enter fastboot mode, which I can't get to work.

I think they skipped over the "Unlock OEM" in the developer settings. The device is a mcv150 close to the cv1. Search up LG Aristo 2 TWRP and see if the TWRP flashes to your device. If it works then I can fix the device specific bugs.
It appears that no one has replied to this thread in almost 3 years (as of this post). To resurrect this thread, I have quite a couple of things about this device to say:
I don't think accessing the bootloader is possible for whatever reason. I've tried rebooting into the bootloader (with "Enable OEM Unlock" enabled) through adb reboot bootloader but to no avail.
Root is possible. The Tribute Dynasty (SP200) contains a MediaTek MT6750 SoC. Combined with the last security patch being November 1, 2019 (an interesting coincidence), this makes this device vulnerable to the mtk-su temporary root exploit.
I remember following a guide somewhere else on XDA, but I can't recall which guide (nor can I find it right now). I remember using mtk-easy-su for this purpose, but then that's all I can remember.
There might be some other developments with this phone that I might know about, but all of this I find from experience.

Mostly likely because the boot.img was newer than the one you replaced.
You can find the current software version with LMSA, or
Code:
fastboot getvar ro.build.fingerprint
That name should match the firmware folder you are using.
Usually, with minor updates the boot.img(s) are compatible.
Easiest fix is just you the Rescue option in LMSA and flash the firmware, then the patched_boot.img will work.
Rescue will factory reset the device.
or you can use the Device Model #, Codename, and Software Channel.
and download your current version from https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/
and use that boot.img to fix your device, then patch that one to root.

Does this work on boost mobile version?
I am also looking into a way to root this phone. I have read through the forums, and this one included, and concluded, I do not have a PC. However, If there is a remote root service I could pay for or a senior member who would take a donation in exchange for root access on the Moto G Power 2021 Boost Mobile sprint USA Variant, I'd be ecstatic.

Probably because u have a carrier like Verizon
Carriers like Verizon don't allow their bootloader to be unlocked which is why the oem unlock is grayed out
U could try to either remove carrier or switch your carrier to something else like T-Mobile if that doesn't work than their is no way to fix this issue I'm afraid

I remember Sprint merged with T-Mobile awhile ago so I don't see reason why oem unlock is grayed out for you
On my moto G7 with T-Mobile I managed to unlock bootloader with no issues at all so if oem unlock was available for me I don't see the reason why it's not available for you
Update: I have rooted the Motorola G Power 2021 Boost Mobile USA variant (Model XT2117-4) successfully with Magisk and the tutorial here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-unlocked-bootloader-non-twrp-method.4222583/ thanks to senior member https://forum.xda-developers.com/members/sd_shadow.4267571 for the tutorial. sd_shadow you are awesome! I saw your tutorial and tried it, works like a charm.
On phone>
Install Magisk app.
Enable developer options.
Use the official Motorola unlock website to unlock the bootloader.
Allow OEM unlocking.
Allow USB debugging
On PC>
Install the stock borneo ROM.
Plug phone into PC
Copy "boot.img" from the borneo ROM on PC to Motorola G Power 2021 storage.
On Phone>
open magisk and click install.
Choose "select and pach a file".
Navigate to the boot.img file.
Flash the file with magisk.
On PC>
navigate to phone's storage and copy the patched magisk boot.img file to the PC.
Put the patched magisk boot.img file in the directory of fastboot and ADB on PC.
Open up fastboot from PC fastboot directory. Hold shift in the Fastboot directory and right click an empty space, choose open powershell/command window here.
Type commands:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
fastboot reboot
*Make sure magisk_patched.img is the exact name of the magisk patched boot.img file.
Reboot. Check magisk and Root Checker for proper root installation.

Turns out, I had just activated the phone and it takes a week or so for the activation data to register with local cell providers. It took about three, maybe four days but the option for oem locking went from grayed out to available. Using the official Motorola bootloader unlock page I was able to unlock it with ADB/Fastboot on PC.

Yes, tried last night. Works splendidly. Safety net tripped for me but using "magisk hide prop" module helped hide root from apps like Google etc. You can get it from the magisk module section.

This no longer works, the links are dead. there is no information on which version of deep testing you have to have as they are all version specific for each phone so you can all ignore this and if anyone has a RECENTLY tried and tested method that works post it here. If its old and no longer functiining like this guide here, do not post it as it does ot work....

yes this has worked for me for years to get oem unlocked. type in PowerShell:
adb shell pm disable-user com.qualcomm.qti.uim
oem toggle will not be greyed out after or you can use this one+ tool to get oem unlock https://1drv.ms/u/s!AqDQuxOzB8wghvoaD02pqZRbUL4eXw
once u type that command in turn oem unlock on in developer options and USB debugging.just in case u haven't yet u need to tap build version under about phone 7x to unhide that menu. make sure you have a backup of your device including firmware for your specific device in case issues and so you can extract your boot img to patch with magisk, also if custom recovery is available for the device might want to find and USB adb drivers then open power shell in windows and type adb reboot bootloader to get into fastboot. once in fastboot type ./fastboot oem unlock. should with no issues a pop-up on device stating if you want bootloader unlock device has to be factory reset. accept and your device will reset and reboot then to get root once booted to welcome screen just hit skip to get through setup just in case something happens your going to have to do it all over. you can fully setup later. once on home screen download magisk from GitHub only and install open it after installed and on main screen your gonna want to patch your boot img you got from firmware extraction and patch with magisk. I believe file will be in downloads folder then send that to Windows adb folder and reboot to fastboot again then type ./fastboot flash boot (magisk-patched file).img and now your rooted and restart
just found this as well. claims to have almost 100% success https://optool.daxiaamu.com/wiki_pctool. has support for all one+ devices

Thats if you have the bin code which for what ever reason OnePlus has shut down that link...So not going to work on Metro PCS with a locked boot loader...

Thats just unlocks The ability to run it on any network that does not unlock a METRO PCS locked bootloader. You have to get a bin file or a expolit, the ADB method does not work on locked bootloaders

<Moderator Note>:
Please, everyone - instead of making three to five posts in a row, sometimes quoting the same previous post, please just Edit your existing post with the additional information.
I've merged all the posts in a row by the same users in this thread. I did accidentally make a mistake, so the second post in this thread was what came after the now third post, and there's no easy way to undo that. Apologies.
Much appreciated.
Thank you,

Bro just use the Tmobile portal through oneplus there is a thread with the link on this forum.
yes sir it has worked on nord n10, n100 , and op 9 without getting the unlock bin. the adb she'll command allows the OEM toggle to be ungreyed then type ur unlock bootloader commands but make sure u have dev potions enabled and you are on your home screen beforehand. also make sure your device is connected to the internet. I've heard that I won't work if not. I haven't had any problems with it though. there is also an option in the OnePlus tool to allow oem unlock to be toggled as well and it all should work without network unlock or the unlock.bin
Does anyone actually try to use the link or are we all just copy and pasting. The links do not work.....if anyone has a good working link. That you have TRIED first... please post it here.
On another note, have any Devs seen the information I posted about bootloader hacking. My technical skills are more suited to fixing cars but I did accidently stumble upon how some group made a tool and complete instructions to unlock any and all bootloaders wether its on phones, computers, or basicly any electronic device. There was a lot of information there but it's beyond my scope of being able to implement. A person with the right background can probably read it and have the ability to hack a great many things afterwords. It went over hacking Tv's, video game consoles, phones, industrial control, computers, systems ect.... they claim with the knowledge they posted and the tool they invented that ALL bootloaders can now be circumvented.

Question Does Sony Blocked rooting for all variants of 1 V?

Bootloader is already unlocked via IV's unlock code page. But the device is not allowing init_boot partition. Unlike older models, I've heard native Android 13 devices should root these partitions(init_boot_a, b). Are there alternative way to root, or open Qualcomm diag ports to VoLTE patch?
Solved: we should boot into fastbootd mode to flash the init_boot.
I bought the Chinese mainland version of Xperia 1 V, flashed the Hong Kong version ROM and unlocked the Bootloader, but after rebooting I found that I could not set the Pin password, it would repeat this step infinitely, I don’t know if your phone has this situation.

HK Market version & unlocked BL by code generated by 1iv on sony developer
Everytjing's fine except the TEE. I dumped TA file by newflasher but no way to restore it.
it seems there is no way to fix the issue of a broken keyguard when bootloader is unlocked. It remains broken on a custom gsi as well. It returns to a working state once the bootloader is relocked.

have you been able to figure out a way to allow the keyguard to have a pin, passcode, or pattern set after bootloader unlock? I was able to log it, so we see what i happening, keystore breaks, but I had to relock due to this issue. Also, I have XQ-DQ-72 and running the HK firmware on Tmobile in the US. How in the world did you get 5G to work? I cannot get it.

You are right, the keystore refuses to distribute any key. But my pin and other safe tools are still working well after unlocking the bootloader. Have you added any pin before unlocking the bootloader? I guess the keymaster still have your old pin stored which causes a mismatch to refuse accepting a new one?
The 5G works in default settings without touching any thing. I dont quite know the band things across different contries.

ok I think I had a pin added before. Although, I may have tried it without as well. Did you unlock your bootloader on HK firmware or another? I didn't unlock till the ota update that came first boot. I am thinking I need to lock, then unlock on another firmware. I will try what you suggested. thank you!

Sad ... Except Pin, is there any thing else effected by the not working TEE?
You cannot use any type of security including fingerprint, pin, passcode/password. This is something Sony will fix. Some claim if you unlock without having a previously setup security method, it would work. It doesn't. I believe I was firmware related and depending on that point what happens after unlocking.
