Screen Frozen on startup screen(SAMSUNG M31S powered by android)black screen after - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
So the phone's screen is frozen at the startup Samsung M31S powered by android screen.
The phone does boot up and I can use it the touch works but the screen is still showing the first logo.
I have enabled usb debugging using talkback and I can use an app called Vysor on my pc to see the screen
The phone works just fine but the screen is frozen and when the phone goes to sleep or I press the lock/power button
the screen goes black but when I press it again its still black. I have to force restart and it then shows the first logo screen.
Download mode and Recovery work just fine and the screen does show them correctly
but whenever I try to boot it to system its frozen on the first logo. I also installed twrp recovery it works.
Because I unlocked the bootloader instead of frozen Samsung M31S powered by android screen the screen is frozen at
the "your device has unlocked bootloader press power to continue.) The phone boots up fine but the screen is frozen
and goes black when I press lock/power button or leave it to sleep just like normal but it doesn't come back when I press the button again.
I flashed stock rom using ODIN. It has the same issue. Its on android 11 U3 binary. I can't use combination factory binary(I'm getting please get approval to use factory binary(PIT).
I can't tell what the problem is. Screen works and touch but gets frozen before it boots to system, but does work fine in recovery stock or custom(twrp) and download mode.
The main board works too it boots I can use it just fine using my pc to see the screen.
Let me know if you can explain what's going on and what can be done.
EDIT: In the recovery logs I noticed this error as well unable to set property ro.boot time.init.mount.cache so that might be a clue.
Thanks!

Android device can get booted into
Recovery
Fastboot ( AKA Download )
Sideload

Normal ( read: Android OS )

My guess is your phone's Android OS completely got corrupted for whatever reason, hence device won't boot into Normal mode

The thing is it does boot up I can use it just fine with the pc. Its just the frozen screen. I think its hardware problem. Board or screen or both who knows. All I know is that it worked fine then one day it turned off. It didn't want to turn on. Then using Odin the phone was flashed with stock rom and it behaves like this. Anyway to confirm the faulty part? The warranty cannot be claimed because the front glass has a tiny crack but it worked for 6 months like that...

Perform a clean flash, not just selecting BL AP CP CSC. You want to erase older NAND and re partiton it.
Code:
# Disclaimer
#
# I'm not responsible for further damage done to your device
#
# You have been warned
1. In odin selcet fimware tar.md5 file by BL AP CP CSC
2. Go in to PIT tab and extract CSC.tar.md5 fimware file and select .pit file in odin
3. Go in to opitions and make sure that NAND ERASE and re-partition are both on.
You can try to perform a SBL upgrade too.
I don't think it is a hardware releated thing because you said booting in to download, twrp works just fine.

And something else, in the picture you attched where the phone is in download mode. It shows OEM LOCK: ON L. Download mode reports that the bootloader is locked but you get stuck in the logo partition that give you a warning for PBL beeing unlocked?
And you triggered somehow triggerd PERENORMAL MODE?

I followed your steps. The flash went well but the phone's screen is still stuck at the your device's bootloader is unlocked(because I did unlock it, before it was stuck on first M31S powered by android) How do you perform SBL upgrade I don't see that option in ODIN 3.14

No that was before the FRP lock was on. I was able to unlock it using talkback. Now it says checking and OEM: OFF(U) (because I did a full stock flash it says prenormal bc it performed a factory reset if I finish the setup(enable usb debuging etc) and boot back in download mode it would say checking ofc)

Could this be a battery issue? Download mode and recovery don't use too much current maybe the battery is the problem. I will try accubattery and see the stats. (4.2v 89% charged seems normal) Let me know what else to try. I wlll upload a video for you too see exactly how it works.

Are you trying to downgrade SW REV or upgrade. If you are upgradeing you need to set the PIT file in PIT tab. Downgradeing is a differnt thing.

No I just want to flash the factory binary firmware to see if it will behave differently. Because the phone's bootloader is on U3 I can only use U3 factory binary so they are both the same. It won't flash because I need token from samsung servers to be able to flash factory binary( they added this security after the S10 launch)

Then what have you flashed before.

I've uploaded a YouTube video. I replaced logo.jpg from param.bin with my yellow image to test the colors and as you can see it shows some green, same green as in twrp so ye its the display most likely.
EDIT: After flashing the PrishKernel the screen is stuck but after sleep I can wake up the screen and at the bottom where the navigation buttons are there is some noise type of image the rest of the screen is black. And its responsive if I press power button the bottom part turns on and off.

Galaxy Note 10.1 stuck on "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen

Dear all.
First of all, thanks for your attention, I really appreciate.
I have a GNote 10.1 Wi-Fi version (N8013) with stock Android 4.1.
My S-Pen was getting me crazy, because I was not able to use it correctly on the edges of the device. I tried an app that supposed to reset the alignment, but I did not work, so I googled and found that the only way to fix it was "factory reseting" the tablet.
So, I installed the TeamWin recovery and backed up my data. After that I hit the button "reboot". But before rebooting, the recovery screen "told me" that I was not rooted and "asked" if I would like to install SuperSU to get root access. I checked YES and rebooted.
After that I got stucked at the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen (see attached file).
I've tried to switch off the note, but the screen goes off for one second and it lights up again at the same screen.
If I plug the USB cable and try to switch it off, the note goes to the battery charging screen. If I remove the USB and push the power button again, the tablet gets back to the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen.
Odin seems to "connect" with the tablet.
I can enter both the download mode and the recovery mode (not the teamwin recovery).
Attached pictures of what I get.
Any sugestions?
Thanks!!!
Everything is ok now
Dear all,
Hope I can help you if you have a problem similar to mine.
I remembered that a PC with no OS stops on some screen, but everything else works, just as what was happening with my note.
I tought that I might have wiped more things than I should, so, the only thing I had to do was to restore the backup that I had.
To do this I should reinstall the TWRP and the only way was via Odin.
Solved the problem this way:
1. Downloaded the Odin (http://techbeasts.com/2013/08/08/download-odin-pc-latest-version-v-3-07/)
2. Downloaded the TWRP file (http://techerrata.com/get/twrp2/p4noterf/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-p4notewifi.tar)
3. Connected the Galaxy Note to my PC using the USB cable
4. Entered the "download mode"
5. Loaded the file from step 2 into the tablet using Odin
6. Rebooted the tablet
7. Entered the recovery mode (TWRP was working)
8. Restored the backup that I had
9. Rebooted again
Did the dance of victory!!!
I am so glad to have my device back.
Regards

My Note 10.1 2014 Edition is stuck on the tablet title screen, not sure if its in reboot mode it returns to this screen if I try to shut it off... basically Its frozen, and when I try to shut it off it goes away a few seconds and comes back. This happened after I rooted with KingRoot, and tried to Flash a ROM, Im a complete Noob and should have done my homework... but I didnt. But after charging it I removed the cable and it rebooted and got stuck on the Samsung screen. I can only access to Download mode. I didn't have any Recovery mode installed, and now I can't install one successfully via Odin...
I tried to install a new firmware... a recovery mode... nothing is working...

@ agelcer: Was your tablet rooted?
Hello. I havea similar problem with my note 2 phone. It will not get past the
samsung screen. My cpu knowledge is very limited. Are you open to accepting payment for attempting to fix my cell phone? All I want is the pictures off of it if that is all you can do to it. Pleass email me at [email protected] if you or anyone you know can help. Thanks....Jay
Same thing is happening to mine. I tried Odin but after the download the srceen goes black and then comes back to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 screen.
Hello folks.
Same problem here with a n8000.
It had the stock unrooted rom probably JellyBean.
Can only access Download Mode, nothing else.
I get connection to Odin, tried to flash original firmware, 4 file firmware, re-partition with pit file, flash a custom recovery, all seem to pass through but nothing changes, still stuck on 'Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1' screen, never moves on to boot animation and still can't access Recovery Mode.
However, something else I triy with Odin and it FAILS is ticking 'Nand Erase All'. It won't let me erase nand.
Could this mean some kind of memory corruption?
Does it have anything to do with EMMC?
If it does, is there a possible way to fix without replacing the hardware?
What else can I try before giving up?
It would be nice if other users who report this problem attempt to Nand Erase All and see if it also FAILS..
Thanks alot and sorry for the long post.
Edit: after posting I found this which is PROBABLY THE SOLUTION for me.
And here is another topic on this issue.
did you find the solution?

I assumed from my searches the solution would be JTAG or replace the EMMC.
Since I don't have the resources for any of those, I just abandoned it to the dust and rust..

I'm not very clear about bootloader upgrading, but I guess it was included in the 4 file firmware I tried flashing and it said 'success' but nothing changed..
I think it ain't just a softbrick since I can't erase nand..
What's your background, osirisx69?
This happened to ours as well just today. Unplugged it rebooted it and it's stuck. Can only access the Odin mode.

[Q] I-9300 bootloop and no recovery

Hello,
I have a S3 which is stuck in a bootloop at the samsung logo.
when i turn it on it shows the logo for some seconds then the screen goes black and the logo re-appears.
i can not boot into recovery mode, but download mode is working without a problem every time.
i tried flashing stock firmwares with odin and also tried kies emergency firmware recovery. the flashing always went without any problem, but it had effect. whatever i try, i am never able to boot into recovery and still stuck in the bootloop.
in some tries after flashing the screen just shows the samsung logo forever, but after rebooting it once it then is stuck in a bootloop again (shows the logo - screen goes black - shows the logo...)
i also tried flashing TWRP and CWM via odin, but again i can never boot into recovery mode.
what should i try next?
thx alot for any helpful comment

You can Try this:
1.) Pull out battery
2.) Put it in again
3.) Press Vol up + home + power
4.) When the Samsung Logo appears let it off
I think you press the Buttons too long.

i really tried everything, it's not working. btw with i am stuck at the very first image, where it says "samsung Galaxy sII GT-I9300".
i dont think it's just the way i press the buttons because i can reach it on my s1 and s2 without a problem, it's just not working on this device.
could some setting like "nand erase all" in odin help? in other threads there is sometimes mentioned that the internal file system might be screwed up and in those cases a simple odin reflash does not help anymore...
Nand erase will usually hard brick it. Try the rescue firmware from general forum, sticky thread. Follow the guide exactly as it includes a pit file.

thx, but i already did that (multiple times) and flashing via odin always succeeds. then the phone reboots and is stuck at the first samsung galaxy s.. screen. twice i managed somehow to get into recovery (after flashing cwm6) but it then randomly rebooted.
and i dont think that the power button is stuck because when i am in download mode it is perfectly fine it never reboots itself unexpectedly.
Had a similar issue on my tab2 p3100. It all happened when I tried flashing a custom recovery from rom manager.
A bad flash of anything related to recovery or bootloader could be a probable cause.
I remember a knowledge share on one of the threads describing this issue and as mentioned on it all I had to do is this:
1) switch off the device and plug in the charger. This would light up the display showing you the charging status. The status has to show if at least your bootloader part of the phone is fine.
2) plug out the charger and immediately press the three buttons (home + vol up + power) get into recovery mode. This step has to work and help you get to recovery mode.
***Note : the interval within which this step has to be performed is too short since the display would turn off immediately as soon as you plug out the charger. A bit tricky too so you have to be fast. If this misses getting you into recovery, pull out the battery and put it back again. Repeat step1 and 2 again.
3) upon successfully getting into recovery, perform wipe data, cache and select reboot phone from option available on recovery again.
Allow the device to boot. This could take a while since you have performed a data wipe and may prompt for first time set up.
I was able to restore functionality on my tab after these steps and like ppl learn from their mistakes, I then learnt that recoveries and bootloaders are things that needs to be done with a pc only.
Worth a try if you have tried other alternatives and found no go. may help. Who knows..
all the best.
thats also not working. i tried to get into recovery since two days now...
i also tried the steps from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/solved-pit-bricked-dead-problem-gt-t2535367
but again, after i flash the cf-root (successfully) the phone does neither boot into recovery by itself nor can i do it by hand...
its crazy... in download mode i can see the model number (GT-I9300) and i thought as long as the model number is there and i can enter download mode there should be a way to recover the device.
but i cannot think of anything to try that i have not done yet
If the rescue firmware didn't help then it looks like the emmc chip is damaged.

is there a way to make certain of this? how can i tell if it is really a hardware damage and not just a software brick?
i just dont want to let the phone go, it looks still so shiny
is there anything else that could cause the phone not booting into recovery mode after flashing custom recoveries?

Same here, still didn't found how to fix it.. I guess our motherboard just died..
Howewer I have a solution that "almost" worked for me.
Get a stock firmware in odin and turn on Nand erase and T-flash
When it's done phone reboots and you'll see just "Downloading..." mode when you turn it on.
Then got to Kies and Select firmware recovery...
Enter s/n and model name and wait for the flash to complete.
With it , I got past boot logo and actually booted into android but the phone crashed because I guess I have a memory issue..
Well , gl. If you don't find anything else helpful , try going with this method..

Yes I tried to flash back to stock firmware but failed. I searched for solutions and it seems its because the reactivation lock is blocking odin from flashing anything to the phone.
Hello, did you try Smart Switch? I had a similar problem after rooting then stupidly activated Knox, but Reactivation Lock was OFF as once you root it seems like you can't enable it, my answer was Smart Switch which initialized everything

Hi. Yes I tried smart switch, it says it can not reognise the device. After I failed to flash the ron for tge first time I was able to boot the phone, knox ask me to restart the phone so I did restart it. Do you have the latest odin? Read somewhere someone with the same issue and the problem was odin. He installed the newest one and everything was fine.
Good luck
I am in same situation. Yesterday I was able to reinstall original firmware. Trick is to get Odin to recognize com port. By connecting to USB first and then entering download mode it seems to work.

J7 Prime, FRP Lock, Need Help!

Hello everyone, I am new here, and I want to ask omething, after I turned off my Samung J7 Prime (Trying to restart it), it diddnt restart and says "Custom Binary Blocked by FRP Lock", I have stock rom odin in diffrent versions, i thried them but they fail, I saw in one thread that you need to Reformat your device, but when I am trying, to go to recovery mode, It says Recovery is Not Seandroid Enforcing, I cant use Recovery mode, I tried download mode but its blocked by FRP Lock so I cant use or flash orreformat my device, I hope I dont get ****ed! Please help really need all your help! Thank you, Hope my phone gets fixed!
" It all started when I turned off oem unlock and rebooted m phone"
you have to flash a stock firmware for your device to fix this mess up, to that you have to download the firmware according to your device's exact model and flash it under download mode.
you said you cant access download mode but i dont think if there is a possibility of lock down of Download mode by frp. First Remove the Battery and place it back to make sure it is completely switched off then Try again to enter Download mode.
press: Volume down+home+power buttons simultaneously for 5 or more seconds until the blue download screen appears.
then connect it to odin to flash the stock rom you downloaded.
hope this will fix your issue.
hit thanks if helped..

Strange, if you have a stock boot image then why its still blocking it. is it a backup or you downloaded the image from internet. if downloaded make sure that it matches exactly with your device's model.

Wait, I will check, but just to make sure what kind of file should a stock rom be?

when flashing with odin you just have one file in the package ending with .tar.md5 all the images required like recovery, boot, system, etc exist in that file itself.

[VIDEO]Galaxy S6 Edge Problem:boot loop BUT with BLUE background?!

Hello dudes and dudetas, so here's the back story of the problem.
Me and my girl were using the hotspot option while the phone was on charge, she went to check the battery percentage but the phone was stuck in this BLUE boot loop with GREEN light flashing (maybe a notification or something) which I've never seen.I have no clue what it could be and I think the Recovery Mode is broken or something because it doesn't let me in it, did went in download mode and successfully flashed via Odin a fresh STOCK software, but when it restated on its own it was still stuck in this bootloop. Any clues ?

What happens when you Flash a stock rom in ODIN, using these options: "Re-Partition" + "Nand Erase All" + "F.Reset Time" + "Auto Reboot"?
In my experience, using the repartition and nand erase all options fix weird little things like this. And they also help when switching between versions of android, and mixing device firmware.
Does it even go to download mode anymore at all? That blue screen is weird yes, but the only time I've seen that color during a boot process is in "Download Mode" and "Emergency Update Mode". Emergency Update Mode generally being when ODIN crashed or something similar while the flash was in progress, and would require Samsung Smart Switch in order to fix.
If there are no modes to enter any longer, and that blue bootloop is the only thing you can make the device do. Then I'd say you might to find a jig of some sort. I know UART tends to be disabled on the Exynos7420, but that doesn't mean you can't connect via the usb port to the hardware altogether.

I installed a fresh stock firmware before this happened and ODIN worked well.
Some say its a hardware problem but I think its just messed up software like the boot files an such... I will try flashing it with the options you mentioned and I will give feedback, thanks !

The only other thing I can think of, if that doesn't work, is to maybe NOT use the "auto reboot" option. That way you can boot directly into Recovery Mode from Download Mode, instead of letting the device try to fully boot after the flash.

Have you tried using Samsung SmartSwitch to rectify the emergency update mode error? I got myself into such a mess while flashing my Note5 when I pulled the cord out during a flash. SmartSwitch was able to pick up on the diag port being used by the emergency error screen and flash new firmware itself.
SmartSwitch has the ODIN protocol built into it.
