How To Guide HOW TO ROOT ANY DEVICE WITHOUT CUSTOM RECOVERY , BY PATCHING BOOT IMAGE - Xiaomi Mi 11i / 11X Pro / Redmi K40 Pro+

HOPE THIS METHOD WILL HELP AS WE KNOW THERE IS NO WORKING CUSTOM RECOVERY AVAILABLE FOR Mi11x pro. And people want to root their device so i am sharing this video i found working all credits goes to the maker of video , i am just shairing this video method, I did rooted my device with same process and it works… VIDEO TUTORIAL LINK - Root Any Android Without Custom Recovery. In case you are unable to pass safteynet check this tutorial to bypass safety net with magisk - video tutorial link - Saftey net bypass Cts profile fix

I did this and I almost bricked the phone.
I had v12.5.4.0.RKKEUVF (Vodafone) ROM on the phone, but couldn't find it for download, so I grabbed the v12.5.4.0.RKKEUXM (unbranded) firmware.
After flashing boot.img from it, the touchscreen and battery indicator stopped working (don't know what else stopped working because I couldn't even unlock it to see). I had to use flash_all.bat to flash the entire phone to recover.
So make sure to use the exact ROM version that your phone is running when rooting.
Also the command is "fastboot flash boot_ab", not simply "boot" - see flash_all.bat.

Have you unlocked your bootloader successfully?

Trouble with flashing official Xiaomi stable ROM on Redmi 3

Hi y'all!
I'm really having trouble flashing an official stable rom on my device. The rom archive is miui_HM3_V7.3.2.0.LHPCNDD_6a5e1bc33c_5.1.zip.
I downloaded it and copied it to a folder (downloaded_rom) on the internal storage of my redmi 3. After selecting it in the updater app I get asked whether it's OK to delete all data, because the rom I'm updating to is older than the one installed. My phone's miui version is MIUI 77. Stable 77.1.1.0 (LHPCNCK). The doble 7s seem odd to me and may be part of my problem (I bought the phone like that). Then, the device is rebooting and I can see some kind of progression bar for a couple of seconds on the botton of the screen but then it just reboots into android and nothing changed
I also tried to flish it via Mi PC suite. Here, after connecting the device in fastboot mode, I got the message that my device isn't supported.
I also believe that the bootloader is locked and I already got the "permission" from xiaomi to unlock it but I had no luck with this either. The Mi unlock tool is telling me, that the "current account is different from the account info on the device" which wasn't the case after I double checked.
Am I missing something here?
kind regards
lunatikk
yes.
because you are currently in modified rom (rom supplier or seller, etc, etc) you cannot update or do anything about it
flash the official rom using miflash method
after that you can update using updater program

I'll try that and report back. Thanks!
Okay, finally I managed to flash my phone with the newest miui.eu rom. What I did was:
- Flashing the official Xiaomi Rom (MiFlash package) via MiFlash (1st try in Win32 wasn't working. 2nd try on Win64 did the job)
- I had to update to the newest official stable OTA, because somehow, I wasn't able to unlock my bootloader with the older version.
- I unlocked the bootloader using the MiFlashUnlocker.
- Updated to the official MIUI 8 dev rom using updater app on my phone
- On dev rom I granted root acces to flashify and flashed the twrp recovery image on my device (which gets wiped from my device every time I reboot - anyone knows why??)
- Reboot into recovery and flash the MIUI.eu zip which is now running on my device.
Thanks for the help guys!
Hi.
I am having the same problem, with pre-installed rom: MIUI 77.1.1.0 Stable. The updater app obviously doesn't work (now i know why) and the MiFlash software doesn't seem to work either. It doesn't recognise the phone, browsing to the downloaded rom does nothing. Am i missing something?
Update, it now recognises the phone, but miflash is saying it can't find the file specified (0x80070002: Execute flash_all.bat)
Thanks for any assistance you can give.
Update 2. Just found out you need a different version of the Rom for fastboot. available from http://en.miui.com/a-234.html for anyone searching.
Okay so Miflash began the process when i had the Fastboot rom, but failed at about 2 percent as the device is locked.
Although i have permission the Mi unlock tool won't unlock my phone as it says the accounts don't match that on the phone, although i have quadruple checked them.
Research suggests it might be a problem with the custom rom on my phone, or that i need to be on the China Dev rom to unlock?
But i can't flash the China Dev Rom!!!
Is there any way to get my device to stock rom?
Sorted.
For the benefit of anyone searching, i followed the instructions here: http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=redirect&goto=findpost&ptid=242867&pid=4510751

problem with unlocking and flashing

Hi my friends.
this is my story :
my phone is Redmi note 3 pro (qualqomm)
I got permissions for unlocking a week ago.
then i tried xiaomi website unlock method but it stopped at 50% and gave me couldn't verify device (different account) error.
my rom is global (MIUI 8) . then i tried to flash dev rom with updater app but it gave me couldn't verify update package error. i cleared updater data and tried again but same error.
in next step i tried mi pc suite to flash but no success.
then i used fastboot mode and mi flash and i got locked bootloader error.
then i used EDL mode to flash but in mi flash i got hello package error. (object reference not set to an instance of an object)
i completely confused . i tried all methods and read many fix like login in i.mi.com and other method that people fixed their problem but all of them not fix mine.
i read some threads about flashing twrp and root without unlocking bootloader but all of them need flashing dev rom and i can't flash.
can anyone help me?

I just recently went through most of what you have gone through... Be patient though... It seems that the unlocking of bootloader even after you getting permission, takes atleast 2-3 weeks more.
- You can flash the miui global dev rom, you may download it from the miui forums... Here is the link for the fastboot rom http://en.miui.com/a-234.html.
- To flash the dev rom, you need to ensure you put your phone into fastboot, ensure all the fastboot drivers are installed on your computer
- Also, you need to ensure that you download the GLOBAL/DEV FASTBOOT ROM(this is different than the regular zip package) that you download.
- Then you can follow the instructions to install the ROM using miflash tool
- If the ROM installation is a success, then you just need to wait patiently atleast for 15-20 days from the time you got unlock permission sms from MI
- Then try running the flash unlock tool, it should get unlocked.
- Now flashing TWRP might be tricky, I was able to flash the official TWRP, but had issues where the internal memory wasn't getting mounted, because you keep getting asked for decryption password in TWRP to mount the data, no matter what you enter, it might not work
- After trying many TWRP types, the one that worked was "zcx twrp"
- Once you flash that, you should be able to flash any custom or miui roms you need :good:

You may try the steps on this link http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html
Skip the EDL thing and go directly to the part where they explain how to use the miflash tool to flash a fastboot ROM
I should have asked this first... what's the state of your phone right now? Does it boot, stuck on boot loop, or are you able to boot into some ROM.
maybe u have a vendors rom, flash the fastboot rom using edl
finally a downloaded adb 1.4.3 and installed it and i flashed dev rom in EDL mode.
but now i have some questions:
can i change kernel with locked bootloader?
if i change kernel does fingerprint work?
You just dont have proper drivers installed im 100% sure, else it would go via edl
Hehe was right
And why dont you ask for official unlock approval? Its approved in less than a day, anyone saying otherwise have old news
Or you can always use a method in this forum...

As a start, this phone is great and I feel that it doesn’t need to be unlocked and rooted for a stable and long lasting daily use. However, unlock and root is almost a religion if you use Android phones
As a piece of info, big thanks to @raimondomartire, there is a thread for unlock, flash TWRP and root in the Mate 9 forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-huawei-mate-9-pro-unofficial-t3546976, which is however according to my experience not totally applicable for the M9Pro anymore. There are also several other threads on the Mate 9 forum. Many things can be shared between both phones, but not always. Be careful about what you are doing!
-----
General info and attentions:
- My phone is M9Pro LON-AL00 (All net version from Chinese Mainland); LON-L29 (International version) should also work.
- This thread applies for build LON-AL00C00B213. Can be also applicable for similar builds, but I couldn’t test. Please report.
- None of the current builds of TWRP (up to 3.1.0) can decrypt data partition by default, which means you could only format the data partition in TWRP in order to access it in recovery (for backup to and install from internal storage etc.). But after formatting, you have to flash Huawei’s special stock data back to data partition (/data/hw_init), otherwise several functions of Huawei ROM won’t work. Refer to this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71302827&postcount=627) or this (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72497328&postcount=204). Thanks to @gm007 and @ante0
- There are several root methods which handles encrypted or decrypted data partition. I didn’t format the data partition, i.e. data is still encrypted. If you want to format the data partition, please refer to this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-how-to-root-mate-9-decrypt-data-t3569986. Thanks to @eddmecha
- If you need stock ROM, refer to useful links below. Use Huawei Update Extractor to extract the individual partitions from the ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454

Unlock bootloader:
There is enough info in the internet about unlocking M9Pro’s bootloader. Just a few points to mention:
- Generally, you can follow the steps in @raimondomartire thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-huawei-mate-9-pro-unofficial-t3546976). But unlike he describes in his thread, there is no OEM Unlock options in the developer options anymore. Just use ADB to unlock.
- FRP unlock is not required!
- Huawei enables now a 14-day limitation, where you can officially get the bootloader unlock code 14 days after you first activate your Huawei ID on your phone and have logged in using your Huawei ID 14 CONSECUTIVE days.
- To go around this limitation, you can use dc-unlocker to get the bootloader code immediately. Google yourself
-----
Flash TWRP:
- Still, you can follow the steps in @raimondomartire thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-huawei-mate-9-pro-unofficial-t3546976).
- The image from this thread is 3.0.3, which has some bugs built in, especially when flashing SuperSU.
- You could use TWRP 3.1.0-1 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-huawei-mate-9-t3515617, but this one seems to have problem to be recognized as ADB device in recovery.
- There is a version 3.0.2 for Mate 9, which seems to have problem mounting USB-OTG.
- If your data partition is encrypted, you can only use ADB sideload or USB-OTG to install anything.
- If you want to do data wipe in TWRP, you have to flash Huawei’s special stock data back to data partition. See above general info and attentions.

Root:
Firstly, thanks to @ante0 for explaining different flags in the root methods: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72504501&postcount=210. Some more discussions between us are also around this post.
I also tried several other root tools on the market (mobilego, vroot, YoRoot, OneClickRoot, iRoot etc.), NONE of them works.
As mentioned, there are different root methods around for unlocking M9Pro, depending on if you want to format your data partition. For me, I didn’t format, and SuperSU works for me. And the mate_9_pro_root.zip from @raimondomartire thread didn’t work for me.
I followed the steps below:
1. Get TWRP 3.1.0-1 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-huawei-mate-9-t3515617)
2. Disable fingerprint ID (I think it’s probably optional, but have read somewhere that fingerprint stops working after flashing root).
3. Flash stock boot image for B213D (in download section). I think it’s optional too, but if you have tried other methods before, you can do this step to make sure your boot is stock and clean
4. Flash TWRP 3.1.0-1
5. Flash SuperSU-v2.79-MATE9-init.d_support_no_decrypt-signed.zip (in download section) via USB-OTG (in TWRP the device is not recognized as an ADB device, hence no “ADB sideload”). Thanks to @ante0 for building this zip!
6. Reboot – phone will reboot itself twice and SuperSU.apk will be installed automatically
7. You could flash back to 3.0.3, if you want the ADB sideload function.

Enjoy your Mate!
Just some clarification: (eventhough you wrote it's for AL00C00B213, which I missed xD)
Flashing stock boot is only needed if you're already rooted.
Boot image B213D is only for AL00C00. If you have a different model/build, use the boot image for that specific build:
Download your stock firmware from hwmt.ru and Huawei Update Extractor. Extract update.app from your firmware zip.
Open update.app in Huawei Update Extractor. Rightclick on BOOT and click on Extract selected.
Flash the extracted boot.img using fastboot in download mode (fastboot flash boot boot.img).
OEM Unlocking is required to be enabled. It's just not there in the chinese version (AL00). So check if it's there first and enable if it is.
Hi guys. Not sure if this is the right place to ask but how do I get rid of that annoying "your device is unlocked and can't be trusted....etc " msg?
I have a mate 9 pro and I want to flash twrp and to root it. I did it for some one plus, xiaomi, samsung so I have some experience. reading xda posts about the case of M9pro I understood that is not a simple path and I dont want to hard brick the phone. what precautions should I take?
attached phone config
thank you in advance

any OTA after?
hi guys. You may or may not find this interesting. I certainly did. I'll post this in the mate 9 pro forum as well but i just thought i could get some ideas from as many of guys as possible seeying that theres a lot more posts here for mate 9 in general.
I have chinese version mate 9 pro that has been rebranded from AL00 to LON Spcseas and rooted. Build number b228. Anyway i recently saw in FF the new b229 so i downloaded all three files which had longer file names than usuall by the way. In twrp, the only file that was visable was the update.zip. So i renamed the hw and public zip files to what they would usually be named. Wiped data, and flashed all three files. Then reflashed supersu.
This is the interesting bit ( i think ). My imei numbers have changed, before flashing, the first imei number ended in 7 - now it ends with 4, the second imei number ended in 9 and now it ends with 7. Also, i now have a MEID number visable which was not there before and a section called android security patch level. Oddly enough im not getting any issues out of play store, im on play store right now and not a single problem regarding authentication. The build number is the same as well. As far as functionality goes, everything seems to be tip top, in fact everything seems to be working better, even unofficial exposed is working well. Only one thing isn't working properly. In phone manager there was a feature in the battery section that darkens the interface for everything to save power and prolong battery. That doesn't seem to be working anymore. In App - Permissions, the permissions is greyed out and it says no permissions requested.. Any thoughts or explenations guys??
Trying to flash another orginal stock rom
I bought a Mate 9 Pro, China Version (LON-AL00C00) want to install Mate 9 Pro, Asia Version (LON-L29C636) software on it. All explanations about Mate 9 Pro is for models which have SD Card. My Mate 9 Pro with dual sims and not containing a SD Card enrty.
I succesfully unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP but couldn't flash LON-L29C636 stock software. Because TWRP don't see update.zip file. Not only update.zip, any files I downloaded or copied before. When I put a OGT TWRP suddenly exits and phone restarts.:crying:
As you see I can't flash a zip file and ofcourse superuser zip file to root as well. I'm stuck in this triangle. Please give me a hand guys.
I can't root my phone. Because I can't view and locate any file of my phone. When I plug a ogt cable twrp exits and phone restarts. 6GB-128GB Dual Sim version

1.Get TWRP 3.1.0-1 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-huawei-mate-9-t3515617)
2.Disable fingerprint ID (I think it’s probably optional, but have read somewhere that fingerprint stops working after flashing root).
3.Flash stock boot image for B213D (in download section). I think it’s optional too, but if you have tried other methods before, you can do this step to make sure your boot is stock and clean
4.Flash TWRP 3.1.0-1
5.Flash SuperSU-v2.79-MATE9-init.d_support_no_decrypt-signed.zip (in download section) via USB-OTG (in TWRP the device is not recognized as an ADB device, hence no “ADB sideload”). Thanks to @ante0 for building this zip!
6.Reboot – phone will reboot itself twice and SuperSU.apk will be installed automatically
7.You could flash back to 3.0.3, if you want the ADB sideload function.

I unlocked bootloader but couldn't root. Anyway I wanted to rebrand my phone to Asia version. Now I'm done but not successful because there is no Google, frp locked, and version is test one.
I can't install twrp because frp lock don't allow it. Also twrp can't read 128 GB internal memory, so I needed to install from pc.
Is there anyway to resolve and install stock Oreo version to my Mate 9 Pro or do you suggest me to resolve it via paid services?

I've installed Oreo to Mate 9 Pro. If you have 128GB edition don't try to install anything from internal storage. That's it.

Rebranding is easy with HWOTA system if you will keep your phone EMUI 5.0 Nougat. And there is no risk if you make everything clearly.

Yes you can always flash stock ROM as factory out, if you are not in Oreo.
And you can root it. It's your own protection to have a backup. I suggest you have, anyway it's up to you. You can loose all your data after root.
Hi, yersterday I used TWRP trying to install a newer firmware and I wiped system partition and now it does not boot because it doesn't have an OS. I was on EMUI 8 (636) trying to update the firmware.
Is there any way to flash a firmware via TWRP or Fastboot on EMUI 8 (i know partition names change on Oreo).
Thanks!

Redmi Note 9 Pro: Attestation failed! (ctsProfile)

Hi,
I am trying to put lineage on my Redmi Note 9 Pro.
However, I am getting the following message when I open Magisk Manager.
Attestion Failed | basicIntegrity CHECK | ctsProfile NOT CHECK | evalType HARDWARE
I tried follow a tutorial on youtube to fix it, however I cannot Link it. It was with the app Terminal Emulator.
Is it still possible to install lineage? If yes, how? If now, can I still return to my phone as normal?
Kind regards,
Q
@Qurbey
It's not required to install Magisk before it comes to install a Custom ROM as Lineage OS. All what is needed is
that phone's boot-loader got suceesfully unlocked - that in most cases will void OEM's / Carrier's warranty -
obtaining a copy of a Custom Recovery like TWRP matching at 100% your phone
obtaining a copy of Lineage OS ROM that at 100% is matching your phone
having the ADB / Fastboot drivers matching your phone installed

Thanks jwoegerbauer.
The boot-loader is unlocked with miflash_unlock.exe
I used following tutorial and software to flash TWPR and Root. Should I have not rooted the phone and only flashed TWPR? I am getting lost in all the vocabulary.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSNe0WkmV6c&t=313s
I am planning to download this version of Lineage.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/development/rom-lineageos-17-1-t4072137
Is there a tutorials you would recommend to execute this step? I prefer a video, since I am new to this.
Will I be able to install all software on this phone, or not any more because of my previous actions?

As I can see you modded / hacked your phone in a way that is completely unnecessary in order to flash a Custom ROM.
To be honest, I can't tell you whether this Lineage OS is the correct one.
If a ROM gets flashed, then you're free to install any user-app of your choice on it.

I have removed the app Terminal Emulator.
But now my phone is locked again. It is not bricked. However I cannot acces twpr recovery any more.
Should I unlock it again? Is that with the 168 hours waiting time agian or not?
Then flash Twrp, without rooting.
Install Lineage
Thanks.
@Qurbey
By installing TWRP you have deleted phone's Stock Recovery. Means now you can no longer flash the original Stock ROM in order to then re-start flashing Lineage OS. It was your decision.
Don't have the phone in question, hence can't help you any further.

That is unfortunate. There is no workaround this? Does this mean I am stuck with the xiaomi interface forever?
Would you advice to remove Magisk from the phone?
@Qurbey
My last 2 cents here ( I no longer participate this thread ):
Get rid off of all mods/hacks you made to phone's Android, will say restore phone's Stock ROM by means of MIUI Flash tool.
Then do NOT install TWRP, but simply boot into it - via FastBoot driver
Finally flash Lineage OS via TWRP

Is there any way to relock the phone just through fastboot? After installing an OTA update, the partitions should match the vbmeta partition, right? So could just relock the bootloader using fastboot flashing lock or would the phone not start then?

Your device will go in to boot img corrupt after that.......
PLEASE NOTE: This isnt working if you are on a custom rom! My Bootloader ist broken and locked and I have to figure out how to fix this ****.
Hello Pankspoo.
I reset my Nord 2 again with an A11 image.
Now I wanted to lock the bootloader again. I have implemented your instructions one to one.
After that, the Nord 2 will boot normally and start.
But in the developer options I can still unlock the bootloader. So the option is not greyed out. The OTA cannot be installed but does not lead to a bootloop either.
I used the appropriate boot.img recovery & vbmeta.img.
Do you have any idea?
Best regards

Check YASNAC app from play store if it's showing safety net check passed your locked.
While installation of OTA what's errors u r getting.
After locking OEM unlock not grates off actually now it's available to unlock again with switchable tab
Sorry for crossposting a lot today, but I am really stuck and it seems that this may be the tool I need. I am on A15, cannot lock bootloader and cannot update.
So, to be sure, for this to work I need the boot.img, recovery.img and vbmeta.img for A15 stock rom? If yes, where can I get those files?
I found the files! Thank you for this guide! It worked perfectly. I really thought my phone was completely bricked. Coming from a Pixel, the root/restore process on this thing is a complete nightmare!!

Definitely, no doubt about that. But the rooting-proces after that is easy and well described here. Don't forget to FIRST take you OTA's, that makes things easier!

I want to lock the botloader, I don't want root anymore. I just need to be sure that if I service the phone for reinstallation to the original firmware, then the bootloader will be locked. Will be? thank you for answer
No worries, it'll be locked after a factory flash!

This happened to me. It turns out that I had version A10 and flashed the A12stock_boot.img and when rebooting I had no wifi. I had no twrp either, since I had just flashed the stock recovery too.
So, I figured "did this actually updated to A12?" I checked the build version on the settings and no, it did not. So maybe thats the reason the system gets confused and some functions (I only noticed wifi) don't work properly.
Anyway, this is how I solved it:
1) restored my A10 version (flashing the file I got from a link on this post)
2) rebooting to A10, I did have wifi. I tried to update to A19 through Software Updater, but even though it did download the update.zip, it failed to update ("didn't pass the verification"). So, I:
3) flashed TWRP again, rebooted into it and installed the update.zip file (in data/ota_package/) that had just been downloaded by Software Updater.
4) Rebooted.
5) Fastboot flashing lock
6) Rebooted again. Congrats, its a brand new phone!!
P.S. Don't forget to lock the OEM unlocking option in Settings.
