Question Secure/Lock/Hide Apps - Google Pixel 6

So I've been able to hide/secure/lock apps in some way on my past Samsung and OnePlus phones. When this is done the apps do not show up in the app drawer, show no details on notifications, and have to be unlocked to view. I've yet to find a way to do this via the Android 12 default launcher.
If there is a way great, could you walk me through the basics? If not I'll gladly take launcher recommendations to gain this functionality.

I use Nova launcher to hide apps from drawer and titanium backup to freeze unwanted apps

OnePlus has a built-in feature that allows you to lock any app with a passcode or fingerprint. I do wish Google had a similar function.

My last phone was a OnePlus and I was hoping my Pixel 6 had a similar functionality. Of course it doesn't, hence the question.

[Q] home screen replacement to hide apps

I am looking for a home screen replacement app with the ability to hide apps in the app drawer. I used one before but I cant remember which one it is. I hate the fact that this phone comes with so much bloatware on it.

Launcher Pro or ADW are the most famous ones. I prefer LP

I use ADW from the market. It gives you the ability to setup groups, and you can choose which group you want to view in the drawer. I have a bunch of different groups defined (games, tools, media, network apps, and so on). And its easy to cycle through and change which group is being displayed.

[Q] A way to hide apps

Can someone please tell me a way of how to hide apps on a non-rooted Evo 3d and other phones? I have only seen apps that require root for this feature to be effective.
Thanks
You mean just from the app drawer? Or punch in a secret code in the dialer or something?

"Go launcher ex" allows you to hide apps from your app drawer, if that is what you are asking.
ADW does that too, open up the app drawer, hit menu and set up group.
App Locker II - Fake Crash is what I use. Instead of hiding the app it just mimics a stubborn app force closing all the time. Don't really have any apps that need securing more than that. That's the free version, the same developer makes more secure paid versions.
Audio manager. looks like an audio app but you can actually have the fake crash report show or also hid apps/pics/vids completely with root. That along with private sms box should secure your phone quite well from wandering eyes. Not that I know from experience or anything...

I like that a lot better than the one I've been using. For a free app, it has a ton of features. Thanks!
A way to hide apps
I am looking for something to use on a non-rooted phone. Something that can hide the app from the main menu listing.
Thanks
Another vote for GO Launcher Ex. I've tried the major launcher apps, and GO seems to work the best for me on my EVO 3D.

You don't need root to run Go Launcher, it does replace sense though. Just search the market for "Go Launcher" then open app drawer, press menu, then hide app. Long time user of Launcher Plus and am happy I made the switch.
Is there any way I can do this using Sense, without changing to another launcher?
Maybe you can try downloading Z4root and temporarily root your phone to use the other apps. Not sure if on reboot the apps will stay hidden or not though, but it might be worth a try because I think every other solution out there is going to require root.
There's an app by the same developer as App Lock II called Invisible Protector that looks like it may be what you're looking for. Doesn't say it needs root in the description, and has a free 3 day trial.
With 'Go Launcher' how do you unhide the app?

Can you recommend any pure & simple App locker that do just that and nothing else ?

Can you recommend any pure & simple App locker that do just that and nothing else ?
There’s abundance of choices, all of them full of ads and doing more than just simply locking/preventing app usage. Aby suggestions ?
use xposed framework if you can and activate maxlock once, rest applock will be history for you as in my case!
I found some apps that work without exposed and are pretty minimal, also can be updated to premium.
“App Lock: Fingerprint Password”, “App Locker - Best App Lock”, “Lock Apps - App Locker”.
Hope it can save you some time.

3 Best App Locker
You can try out one of these three:
Hex App Lock & Photo Vault
Perfect AppLock
Smart AppLock
I use Smart Applock. It is the simplest one
Hexlock App Lock simple and easy to use, try it !
GO Locker is an alternative lock screen for Android, the key feature of which is a reliable way of protection. A simple but effective method differs from the standard solution and protects the device from other people’s hands.
The only one I found with no ads its Norton App Lock.
I doesn't use app locker because the phone has a password and my personal videos are hidden in InsTube.
You might want to try Ultra Lock.
Smart AppLock by SpSoft
Ultra Lock locks apps just for a few minutes.

Huawei Launcher

Hi ppl.
It is possible to block/freeze the stock launcher?
without side effects?
i would say yes:

I don't think you can disable the stock launcher or most of the Huawei System Apps. Freezing an app makes me think of Titanium Backup but you would need to be rooted to use that.
Unless you have the Chinese hardware model you can change default launcher like on any other phone. There isn't really a need to disable it or likely much benefit from doing that.

I think making changes to your phone OS using ADB commands is an increadibly bad idea unless you are a software engineer and actually understand exactly what you are doing. The Mate 20 Pro is increadibly fast as it is so what do you think you will gain by removing system apps?
It's your phone--if you feel like bricking it knock yourself out.
ok guys I have successfully removed emui launcher from my mate 20 Pro and using nova launcher now, but I am back on oreo style recents, any solution to that, cheers.

You don't need factory reset to bring back the emui launcher if you removed it with adb shell. you can always reinstall it via huawei's app store.
Removing the emui launcher causes gesture navigation to stop working, as well as the ultra power saving mode.

I think the question is how ? Unless he factory reset;
ok guys here what I did, initially I uninstalled huawei launcher (with adb commands) but it messed up a few things like phone went back to oreo style recents and a few more things went missing from the UI, I do not recommend uninstalling huawei launcher, but anyway I resetted the phone to get Huawei launcher back than did the following:
Go to apps find huawei home click and clear defaults,
Installed nova launcher,
give all permissions to nova, it also needs accessibility and admin rights as well as draw over other apps and allow notification,
from apps on your home screen or app drawer click on nova, for a very short time nova will take over,
very quickly go to apps again (this time nova will be your home launcher, for a short time though), long press nova icon a little menu will pop up "set" without wasting any time click set that will take you to a hidden list of default apps, click on huawei home tht will finally take you to set either huawei home or nova as your default launcher, click nova and voila...bye bye to huawei home, enjoy nova.
But please keep in my mind this procedure is for nova launcher I don't know about other launchers but I hope they act similar, cheers.
the problem still is...
when the huawei launcher is installed and you want to use nova AND you want to use gestures, the recents are completely ugly. everytime you swipe to home, you will see for a short moment the recents. that was a nogo for me because it just looked damn ugly.
so i uninstalled the huawei launcher, enabled the Huawei Gestures (which are not working on the bottom, only on the sides, if you uninstall the launcher), installed nova and installed N-Fluid gestures. Now its working like a charm, i dont care if the recents are looking oreo or pie style

IIRC it's called "drawer home" in english app store. my huawei ID region is in China so I'm using the chinese app store, and I'm able to find "华为桌面" in it.

Question A few questions about MiPad 5pro and MiUI

Hi there - I have recently purchased the MiPad5pro and have a few questions about the tablet and MiUi in general as this is my first Xiaomi device. I'm running the latest available version for MiUi for the pad5pro in China.
1. Has anyone been able to get Novalauncher to work? I get an error saying only those launchers verified by Xiaomi are allowed. Is that a miui issue or a miui for pad issue? Any other launchers recommended? I use Oneplus for my phone and have it set up with novalauncher that allows me to have the google shelf when swiping to the left from the home screen. I'd love to have that feature on my mipad.
2. is there a way to natively translate text on the screen? For eg: ColorOs has a built in screen translater that allows you to translate any part of the screen or the entire screen. Anything similar available for miui natively?or any apps that you'd recommend that aren't loaded with ads?
3. without root, is there a way to remove miAI and make Google assistant the default assistant app and get it to work in all the apps?for example, the miui clock app has a mic option for assistant but it triggers miai even though I have set Google assistant as my default ai app. Also, every time the tab is restarted, it defaults to miai as the default ai app instead of the previously set Google assistant.
Happy to answer any questions anyone might have if they are looking at buying this tablet.
Yes I am on the same CN stock ROM (do we have any other choice atm?). I am hating MIUI every minute of the day...
1. You can choose Nova as your default launcher. But you have to do so from Nova, not MIUI settings.
2. Sorry I don't know... I gather you're talking about an app that reads a text off a picture? You tried the stock Gallary app (the purple one)? If you didn't find the function in the app, then maybe it's not possible without a 3rd party app?
3. My pad is rooted, but I've tried what you asked... It looks like your choice of the detault assistant app (I tried google) stays after reboot. I set the detault through 'default app' on settings.
I hope we will be out of this misery soon. MIUI (Chinese version) is a torture.

Thanks. I don't hate the MiUi, it serves my purposes, just hoping to get a few of these issues fixed.
Was able to get Nova sorted like you mentioned, but Nova didn't work too well as it doesn't fully move to landscape mode.
#2 is the one I need most, so hopefully if someone else has an app they can recommend. It is not just about a picture, but about text in any app. Hoping for a 3rd party app that can be used that doesn't have a bunch of ads every time you use it.
I removed MiAi using this method along with some other Chinese language apps
It seems safe and you can re install or re enable the apps of you have any problems.

I have the solution to 3.
Without root, it's just a matter of getting the permissions correct.
Xiaomi has a privacy setting in the Google permissions that grants the permissions without confirming with google. That's why you can't get the default assistant to stick.
This will fix it. Give google always allow on device info inside the Google app, not assistant app.
Enjoy.
