Double tap to wake stop working after factory reset - Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello, can anyone guide me how to fix it without rooting? So double tap to wake is not working after a factory reset, Double tap to sleep on lock screen works tho. I did a factory reset because of heavy ghost touch issues.

Probably a settings issue.
Or simple load the app Double tap, it's likely is better than the stock app.

Yes, thank You very much, I was planning to say thank You and giving reports after testing it, but strangely it worked fine just now... So I guess problem solved, by itself. Thank You for the suggestions tho, appreciate it

Double Tap is a near perfect app. I use instead of the Samsung one as it has more and better features to dial it in. No downside, stable.

Nope didn't work.
Reflash the firmware, that will help for sure.
Sent from my D6502 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Tried restoring stock firmware and restoring factory settings and nothing is restoring knock feature.. Really annoyed I loved this feature on this phone..

I think he means double tap to wake. The option defiinitely works on rooted firmware. I'm on 23.0.1.A.0.167 (rooted myself using PRFCreator) and everything's working fine. Go to Settings>display settings and make sure the option is activated. Oh and when you double-tap, it has to be done quicky and your finger must touch the same spot twice.

Double-tap To Wake Screen?

Is there any app, Xposed module, mod, etc to get the "double-tap to wake screen" feature like LG phones have?
I tried an app that woke the phone by waving in front of the proximity sensor, but that was a battery hog.
Would like to be able to wake phone without power button.
I'm running PAC ROM which does have double-tap to sleep.
Thanks for any suggestions!
2nd this.
This is typically dependent on the kernel. It also needs to have support by the hardware, otherwise there is massive battery drain. I'm 99% certain our phone does not have the proper hardware for it.
We have douple tap to sleep. But not wake.

You just echoed the OP .
What can be done to get wake on tap is my question.
You would have to start by removing tap to sleep.
Can't have both. Its doable but as said earlier it would cause drain issues.

Why can't we have both like LG?
I would prefer double-tap to wake, since I already have icons/apps that can put the phone to sleep like Green if click on an icon.
How does LG do this without battery drain problem I wonder?

Still doable. Not sure what all can be done to reduce drain. Its like Google now voice detection. Disabling that increases battery life as well. So it really boils down to what you are willing to sacrifice for a particular function addition.

Implementation with a disable switch solves that. User can decide turnoff if too much battery drain.
Yep. Would only make sense to be able to disable it. If I couldn't disable Google now voice I would delete it all together... Handy tool. But I enjoy my battery life way to much.
Yes, Gravity screen

I saw it in my hunt before creating this thread. Have you used it? I'm wondering about battery loss before I give it a try. Thanks.

Thanks! How long did you use/try the app for? I tried one that uses the proximity sensor over a few days, but it was using 10% of the battery.

Since CM Preview (MT2).
I have Tasker (paid app). So I even disable CM's double-tap to sleep function.

I don't get your point? What does Tasker have to do with double-tap?

I meant Display/Lock in Tasker instead of double-tap to lock the screen (Screen Off).
Screen On can also be set with Tasker, functioning exactly the same way as Gravity Screen.

I use it every day, all the time. I liked it so much as to pay for the it, not using the demo, which is sufficient. No, it doesn't drain the battery.

Every notification waking screen, how do I stop this?

Probably a dumb question, but every single notification I get seems to wake the screen and I can't find a setting that explicitly disables this. I'm using a KIW-L24 running marshmallow.
Would any of you know how to stop this behavior?

Go into settings. Select Screen and passwords.
Turn off the option 'Notifications turn on screen'.
I hope this helps you. Take care!

Can I tap to wake the phone ?

Hello,
I want to buy this phone, and I was wondering if you can tap into the screen to wake the phone.
I have no problem to root the phone and to download custom rom if it has the feature.

nope, it doesn't have tap to wake
The fingerprint scanner is an always on one, so when you are holding the phone you just need to touch it to unlock the phone. The only time that dttw would be nice is when the phone is flat on a desk.
lol! use the fp scanner to wake the phone? works once or twice in every hundred attempts
Thanks for the replies.
I spend many hours working at a desk , so the FP sensor will be annoying to use all the time.
From what I have also read on this forum , the FP sensor doesn't always working. Despite how simple this problem, I think this may be a deal breaker for me.
Maybe you can get this functionality with xposed.
You can find a lot of videos in YouTube with double tap to wake and double tap to sleep.

RROS even has a setting to enable that but it didn't do anything for me either. I think that's just not possible on the Honor 9... Sadly - would have loved to have that feature too.

The fps always goes straight into the homescreen and I often just want to see my notifications on the lockscreen. Having to press the power button on the side therefore can be quite inconvenient when the phone is lying on the desk.
PS: Oh, well, that was another downside of EMUI. I don't get why they don't show older notifications on the lockscreen. If the phone gets unlocked once, all the notifications for this moment don't show up on the lockscreen anymore (which stock Android and I guess most other OEM skins do).

Strange that it is missing as it works in the H7.
Isn't that a hardware limitation at least on the h9?
Well bro you can use the "Evie Launcher", than go to settings and pick double Tap option. You can lock your phone via Double Tap than (Not unlocking)
