Question Any wireless connection disables mobile data - TMobIile - Google Pixel 6

I have a very odd issue, if I connect to wifi, I can search the internet just fine but I cannot make phone calls or get text messages. Sometimes the texts will go through and other times it gives an error. I went through all of the network settings but cannot find the culprit, does any one know what I am missing???
Thanks

I'm having issues with calls being dropped and messages not being sent when on Wi-Fi. Changing wifi calling preference does nothing. Turning wifi calling off does nothing. I turn wifi off and calls and messages are fine. Doesn't happen all of the time though. So not sure what's going on.

Did you disable Mobile Data Always Active under Developer Options?
Though I'm not sure that would be the culprit as I have it disabled, but don't suffer the problems you're experiencing. So I guess this wasn't really helpful. I apologize.
Or maybe you should? And perhaps that will fix it? If it doesn't then I apologize again.

That is pretty odd.

Been having connection issues since day 1. Changing different settings has worked for periods of time but nothing seems permanent. I have to cycle airplane mode to fix it every time to fix.
Was reading up on other sites and this is wide spread enough to find posts about it all over. Haven't seen anything to pinpoint why it happens or who is effected. Best I've found is that it may have something to do with when the phone switches to 5gUC and then off. But mine switches on and off of that relatively often and it doesn't do it every time. Though it does seem to do it if I'm on Wi-Fi and it's flipping to a good 5G signal to a not good one. So maybe it's when both radios are active.
Oh and I'm on TMobile, Swapped from Sprint sim.
Oh one more theory... I keep seeing messages from Sprint / T-Mobile about switching to the T-Mobile network. But I am currently using a T-Mobile SIN. These aren't generic messages. Messages they're geared directly to specific lines on my account, including . Now I don't know if somehow I could be on a T-Mobile SIM and still on the Sprint network, because that goes against a lot of stuff. Stuff I know regarding how the networks are being operated but I am a little out of the loop so I guess it could just be roaming back and forth or something And they had set something up at the tower so that you don't even see it do such. But anyway, if this weird theory were true, maybe that's the only people that it's affecting.

I'm sure that you set the default APN to Tmobile, right? My coworker was using a sprint sim and after getting another sim from Tmobile, her phone works fine. Of course, she doesn't have a pixel 6 so it could be something with the device. I love my P6 but there are some quirks. About to try this ArmorSuit skin screen protector later today as the hard ones do not register fingerprints.

Yep, unfortunately all apns are set correctly (or as far as I know). I have both the TMobile and TMobile mms apns that auto generated with the activation.

Sounds then like its using VOLTE and the inactive data is not properly selective.

Actually the issue came back so I just turn off wifi.

Brain dead HTC breaks core functionality in ICS

Ever since I started trying the various flavor of OTA ICS, I've noticed one very significant issue. My WiFi connection goes down during the night, and I don't get emails. I use "push" email, so there needs to be a network connection.
Yesterday, I updated to the latest release 4.03.605.2, and ran a test. I set one of my boxes to ping the phone every 5 minutes overnight. It turns out that the phone stopped responding at 12:15 AM, responded for 15 minutes at about 2:55 (when I woke up and checked the phone), stopped responding 15 minutes later, then started responding by itself at 7 AM. I have the screen lock timeout set for 15 minutes, so it appeared that there was some process which would shut down wifi between midnight and 7 AM, if the screen was locked.
That's just plain idiotic. After basic phone functions, email is the most important feature of a smartphone, and HTC made it utterly unreliable!
Quick Google search, and this is apparently a known issue on some HTC phones, although searching on this forum only shows a few mentions of similar wifi issues.
Here's a thread about this issue on the One X.
It appears there's a solution. Here's more info on the problem, and mention that there's a pay app, SmartSync Disabler in the Play Store. I plan to try this tonight to see if it works on the Rezound.
HTC owes me $1.77.
I am assuming that you have played with the advanced wifi settings to keep wifi on during sleep?
settings>wifi then press menu button then advanced
I've also tried playing with the hidden power menu options but it caused my wifi not to turn back whenever I woke up the phone. Pain in the ass having to keep turning it back on all the time.
Yeah, um. Easily corrected.

Post a screen shot of your WiFi advance settings just for the hell of it. All android phones(ones i had) keep WiFi on after the screen is locked/off (Always ON) by default.
If you have already tried this then..... Kernel & kernel Modules control Wifi functions so maybe try going back to gingerbread and checking if the problem persist. If not then ICS don't likey you phone.
For those who can't be bothered to read the linked threads, this issue is related to a new "feature" HTC has added to ICS, called "SmartSync." It only has effect from midnight to 7 AM local time. During that time, this untenable feature will disable data connections. Waking up your phone will cause it to reconnect, but 15 minutes after the screen goes off, it will disconnect again. Some people have reported that it doesn't happen if you have the charger connected.
There's a reason the app I linked to in the OP exists, it's because this issue can't be resolved by changing any of the provided settings. Here's another app which tries to fix it in a different way.
It makes no difference if you have set WiFi to "always on," it still turns it off. If you use push email or messaging (like GTalk), you won't get messages during the night, unless you wake the phone yourself. It's also not just WiFi - if it were, you'd get push emails through 3G/4G, but they simply don't come through.
Here are some more threads:
HTC Incredible wifi sleep.
One S not receiving push email
One X
Evo 4G push notifications don't work
Evo 4G
Apparently, the idiots at HTC believe that no one might be sent important emails from 12-7AM, and that no one works third shift. They broke ICS with this stupid, undocumented, unconfigurable change which turns a decent phone into a piece of crap.
FYI, ViperRez has the option to disable SmartSync. Haven't seen it in any other roms, but to be fair I haven't run any other Sense roms for any length of time.
This is a sense 4 feature supposedly so if it's such a big issue ... Then don't use a sense 4 Rom....
If you get one of the disabler apps working then score one for you.

[Q] [SOLVED] Carrier Migration - Verizon to T-Mobile

Hey Guys,
I bought this phone a little while ago on Verizon, from a Verizon store. I'm one of the lucky few that was able to unlock it before their OTAs ruined life.
I'm running Clockwork touch, and it's been rom'd with a few different roms in its lifetime.
However, I've switched carriers and have run into an issue. I can text and make calls just fine, but when I try to hang up the dialer, it hangs and never finishes hanging up. It just sits there, still connected, and says "Hanging Up". The only other issue I have is that I never receive a call. When someone calls in, it rings normally, but the phone never brings up the incoming call screen.
Which leads me to believe that it's a radio firmware issue.
1: Is this correct?
2: How can I fix this? I have T-Mobile now, and have a good piece of hardware (that's totally unlocked and rooted). I'd really like to be able to continue using it.

If I'm not mistaken, the Verizon S4 lacks some of the radio bands that the T-Mobile version would have. This doesn't explain the weird no-hanging-up issue you're seeing though. What "baseband" version do you see when you go to settings->about phone->baseband

Flashed both modems, and same issues (though the random crasshes I was seeing of services/keyboard etc have disappeared now). I flashed a random NC2 rom, and everything worked as expected (dialer, etc) but it was full of the stock UI from Samsung. Not certain if that helps to narrow things down. I've been testing with the CM11 nightly from May 6
Below is a screenshot of what happens.. it literally just freezes at the "Hanging Up..." screen. None of the other buttons on the bottom row (dialer, mute, etc) are responsive, either. I never get an incoming call, either, despite it ringing from the other end/going to voicemail after the ring timeout.

You sir, are awesome. Did the trick. Had to do a little digging to find the right APN settings (had to add it in manually - deff. didn't want Verizon settings), but it's working great now.
Still can't come up with a reason the dialer was pooping...

Enable WiFi calling in U firmware

UPDATE: it seems that all this does is enable the switch in settings, it does NOT actually allow WiFi calling. I have been digging around in both the ATT system and U System, trying to see if I can find anything that points to what makes ATT WiFi calling function. I have come up pretty empty handed thus far, I can say that swapping the ATT CSC folder to the U firmware trips a shutdown/reboot loop. It boots and shows some verifying device dialog then shuts down, BUT in the short time I got before it shutdown the Wifi calling option in settings turned from a switch to a tick box. This is as far as I have gotten and think it will not be an easy task to get ATTs version of WiFi calling to work on the U firmware.
So came across this in system/csc/Others.xml about 3/4 of the way down, I can confirm it enables the option for us att users in the U firmware but can not confirm if it works or not. It is a start.

Edit updated OP with new url to the screenshot, hope it works for everybody now.
Must root though? Ugh
yes, just like you need to be rooted to get VoLTE and video calling re-enabled and band 17.
But at this point I can do little to prove this works and doesn't just enable the option in settings.
I'm trying to pick through the ATT rom to see if there is anything usefull.

this I have tried but it insists that I turn off airplane mode in order to make a call, not sure if that is something that the U firmware does on purpose or not.
Odd, on att fw I can make a call fine with airplane mode on and wifi on
Well, I have put myself into a some kind of shutdown loop a hand full of times today trying to swap files from the ATT rom. I think this is a bit beyond me, so unless someone more knowledgeable comes along to help out I think we are once again stuck with no Wifi calling on the U rom

Hey Joe, not sure if you have root or not, but if you do can you get a catlogger and toggle wificalling on and off a few times to see if we can figure out the root of what controls ATTs wifi calling. It has to be built into some arbitrary apk somewhere.
Yeah, I am looking for it in the rom. I flashed a ported Note 7 Rom for the SM-G935F, flashed a note 7 csc for AT&T, i get errors when I enable wifi calling.

Question Unable to delete "T-mobile.com" wifi subscription?

Settings-> Wi-Fi & Network -> Wi-Fi -> Saved Networks
Under [Subscrptions], there is <t-mobile.com> which will Auto Connect after you reboot your phone.
Unfortunately, it will re-install itself after you reboot your phone even you perform "Forget" or "Delete" it. ( yes, I have PM uninstall all T-mobile packages already )
Anyone know how to delete it or what it is?

This is not related to Wi-Fi in any way. Notice how it simply says "Saved networks", then below "t-mobile.com", it has "Wi-Fi Networks". This implies, as far as I'm aware, that it is not Wi-Fi, but rather your cellular data subscription from T-Mobile.

I want to say many phones ago I had a similar issue with a package that happened on one phone and not another. What I remember of it was the AOKP guys went digging into it and they found that on the tmobile branded version of that phone in the original rom it was buried deep enough it couldn't be turned off. I am not sure if it was the same package but I do recall it had something to do with their wifi networks.

Question Switching from WIFI to Mobile Data Issue

Has anyone ran across an issue when changing from WIFI to mobile data that it doesn't switch? Usually when I leave my house and get into the car it doesn't switch to mobile data and I need to restart my phone for it to connect.
I'm seeing this issue, sort of. Not sure if this is the same that's happening to you though. After leaving home/wifi, the phone shows LTE or 5G but the data doesn't work (at least for some apps, I'm not sure if it's all or not).
Restarting does fix this, but for me swapping back and forth between APNs will also fix it for some reason.
Yeh happens on phone as well, as you said the only way to get reconnect is by restarting the phone, really annoying i hope sony will address this issue in the software update
I am on the latest image and I have this problem as well. I hate to be spending time with either Sony or T-Mobile support to find where the issue is. I'm not even sure if T-Mobile will care; they'll probably tell me I'm using an unsupported phone... sigh...
If this issue is not resolved and if the upcoming Galaxy phone happens to come with an sd-card slot (low chance), then I'm returning my Sony and switching to that. So far not impressed with screen brightness for sunny days outside either, and not thrilled about over sensitive or not sensitive enough, dual-personality finger print reader. So my reasons to return are starting mount up...
Oh one more observation. If I try to force connect to another network like ATT, wait for that to fail, then switch to auto-connect right after, then 5G icon comes and I get internet connectivity restored w/o having to restart. This seems to be the only workaround. Otherwise switching mobile data on/off, or switching in and out of airplane mode doesn't do anything.
And... I'm sure I can do this trick when I naturally lose service then come back into service where I only get voice, but no data. This is the thing that most pisses me off. I can anticipate switching in/out of wi-fi and apply the workaround or reboot. But I can't keep checking my phone to see if I constantly have 5G coverage, which is spotty at times to begin with T-Mobile.
Really frustrated with this here....
I had this problem, so did a search and found the same problem with older Sony phone. He said what fixed it was changing the apn settings. Wish I could find that web site again. But basically checked my default apn setting, and it was missing some info. I made a new apn with the correct T-Mobile settings and deleted the old one. And now I don't need a restart to get mobile data working. Never would have thought that would be the fix. Hope this helps

This did the trick!!! Thank you very much! I don't know if Sony was trying to be smart to include the "T-Mobile" APN in the phone, or T-Mobile pushed both "T-Mobile" and "T-Mobile US LTE" APNs over the air, but when I switched from T-Mobile to T-Mobile US LTE, the issue stopped exhibiting.
