Question Use A7 Lite as a tractor unit - Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite

Hi at everyone,
it's been a while since i've posted something here but now i need your help.
I just bought a Samsung A7 Lite WIFI/LTE for using it as a tractor tablet, just to run some apps needed for gps tracking. The tablet is charging when the tractor key is on, or the motor is running.
My ambition is to setup the tablet to shutdown when it loses power (key off) and to turn on when it will receive power again (key on). Is it possible without rooting?
My objective is to have the tablet operate seamless with the tractor.
Thank you for the answers

[Q] Irulu AL101: No Sound, Dicky Auto-Rotate

Irulu AL101: No Sound, Dicky Auto-Rotate
Greetings.
I had reached a point of near Android-Nirvana with my non-phone 10” off brand (but still pretty nifty) tablet: all of its/my issues had been resolved or accommodated and “we” were actually approaching something akin to productivity. Then, of course, things went bad. Perhaps you can help?
The tablet in question:
Model Number: IRULU AL101
(Currently selling for ~$120 with combo USB keyboard/case & shipping included on ebay, though I bought mine months ago)
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: 1.5rc4
Kernel Version: 3.0.8+, Nov 5, 2012
Build Number: crane_al101-eng4.0.4 IMM76D, 20121113 test-keys
The problems:
Auto-Rotate acting oddly.
No sound.
Note: I normally use the tablet in a noisy industrial environment while wearing ear plugs, so I can’t be sure if the sound stopped working the same time the auto-rotate stopped working properly. Earlier this April, I went on a trip and used my tablet as an Internet clock radio, so I KNOW the sound and I THINK the auto-rotate were both working properly then.
The no sound problem is, of course, self explanatory. The auto-rotate problem requires some explanation.
a. When I switch auto-rotate on, auto-rotate switches on. Excellent.
b. When I rotate the tablet, the screen rotates properly. Excellent.
c. If I suspend the tablet (short press on the power switch), the tablet suspend. Excellent.
d. If I turn the tablet back on, the tablet turns on. I am greeted with the tablet locked screen, which rotates properly. Excellent.
e. If I unlock the device, the screen instantly rotates back to the normal landscape position, and the screen will not rotate again. Not excellent.
f. If I inspect the settings, I discover that auto-rotate has become unchecked.
I have done everything a clueless newbie with a computer running a slipshod OS supported by crappie/nonexistent documentation might (e.g., reboot; remove apps; “factory reset”, etc.), but, other than wasting my time and engendering in myself a deep longing for ZDS DOS & CP/M-86, I have accomplished nothing.
Other than taking myself and my tablet to one of Google’s campi and immolating us both in protest, can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks in advance.
MD
Did you ever solve this problem with this tablet? Mine just started doing it. The only other thing I noticed is that the sound will start up if the screen is off, but only once it starts a new music track. Also video playback problems at the same time. I just wondered if you were able to.solve your issue without a factory reset or with a reset. Thankyou for your time.
Dear Bert,
I’m sorry (for both of us), but I never did solve the problem. I went as far as trying to reinitialize the tablet, but the feature that back’s up and restores the firmware (or whatever it’s called) doesn’t work on any Irulu tablet I’ve ever tried (which is two or three).
I eventually just bought another one (and a few spares). I certainly can’t prove anything, but I think installing an app might have corrupted it. I have treated my new tablet like a Windoze computer — i.e., I’ve tried to avoid installing software that can be done without — and thus far all is okay with the replacement unit.
If you have any success, do report back when you have a chance.
Good luck!

Well I have the firmware tools from the board manufacturer, I had recovered this unit from being bricked before. Anyway I loaded a full fresh firmware flash for it formatting the system partition as well. The problem still persists. At the moment my current working theory is power issues internally. For some reason when the screen turns off the sound will return. So I in hooked the backlight and got some static over the speakers. Its almost as if the power is being drained from the sound processor and the tilt sensor causing them to stop functioning. It could also be an issue similar to the trod on xboxes, solder joints under CPU coming undone because of heat. No heatsink or heat spreader on these units. If I can't figure anything else out I may try reflowing the solder. The person this tablet came from lost all paperwork that came with it otherwise I would return it.
If you want recovery mode instructions, firmware and firmware tools let me know. Most of the info I found to help me get that unit back online before was in Chinese. Also Hecate what you do install app wise. These tablets are "rooted" with full system access. Easy to mess up the basic software. These tools should work with all of the irulu tablets. Worst case I do have access to the firmware archive and can get the firmware you might need.
Sorry for rambling here, I have ADHD can you tell.

Dear Bert,
Thanks for the feedback.
At the time this problem appeared, I made some fairly extensive efforts to restore the tablet, which included obtaining the Chinese utility which is supposed to reformat the tablets internal memory and reinstall the operating system. I confess that I can’t recall all the details of what I did, except that my efforts resulted in a broad and impressive variety of failures.
I think I might still have the software/etc. lying about, so I don’t need to avail myself of your very generous offer. Thanks anyway!
Fortunately, other than this issue, I’ve had no trouble with the tablets (the original or its replacement) whatsoever.
Cordially,
MD

[Q] Ainol Novo 9: Too many problems or general Android issues?

Hello everyone!
I recommended this tablet to a friend of mine, promising to help when needed:silly:. The phone was delivered quickly and was all right, but it started having problems from the very beginning. To cut a long story short, now it has these problems:
1. WiFi (διαρκές πρόβλημα) - it connects randomly, but after that it stays connected. It may not connect however, even if there is a clear signal. I saw some solutions to change the antenna, seems a bit tricky to me.
2. Play Store stops working and can only be reenabled with a reset. It has happened many times.
3. USB charging. As the device was given to children as a gift, they were trying to use it while it was charging which led to the pin in the charging hole breaking (sorry, best phrase I could find), so now it can only be charged via USB, but it is slow when it's turned off and even slower when it's on. Apparently not the device's problem, but a big issue.
So, questions:
1. As the tablet has a combination of problems, is there any ROM that is overall better?
2. Can I use a 5V 3A usb charger for faster results or just 2A?
3. Are all android tablets so buggy? (I own a low-speed tablet which operates fairly well...)
4. Does anyone have experience with Ainol customer service? It was bought through minideal, but I send it to Ainol, right?
Thanks in advance for your time and effort!:highfive:

[Q] help needed, S5 H variant (G SM900H)

Hi guys
My wife brought me this phone from E-BAY and I accept that I have something completely different inside the case (namely something lower spec).
So far (in general) its good enough for my needs, but I have no idea of the hardware spec I have OR the software involved (seller in Hong Kong claimed Kit Kat).
Also, when I recently connected to my car charger the screen went dim so I quickly unplugged it and the phone took over an hour to switch back on afterwards. Since then my home screen and desktop screens have gone haywire and the phone keeps putting itself in silent mode. Phone itself still dials, makes and receives calls but sound us absent everywhere else ie video/mp3 playback. The "home" button no longer appears to work either, like the volume buttons.
Is there a PC program that I can try to plug into to help me establish exactly what I've got under the hood, with a view to downloading a compatible ROM ?
CORRECTION.
Label in back of phone states the model as being SM-G900H.
Apologies for my bad navigating but this phone is my only source of internet.
Many of the controls no longer function as they should do and its difficult to navigate the forum (unfamiliarity) with inconsistent controls. Can anybody point me with tips towards recovery please ?
Can't find the original eBay listing now (of course) but all I can offer is maybe some pics of phone and the label inside if it would help. At THIS moment in time my priority is to find out exactly what my hardware is so I can then try and source a suitable ROM to install, can anyone suggest a PC utility that can "investigate" my hardware (and maybe software) so that I can begin to try and correct what is wrong.

"Always-On" Backup Power Source

Hello all
I'm thinking on developing an external power source based on lithium cells for my unit. The idea is to avoid the boot delay when the car is not used for some hours. The external power source will power the unit only when the car is not active.
- Does anybody knows what is the average consumption of a MTCD unit with no-music / no-screen active?
- Is there a way to power only the Android Module? Or a way to send a HW signal for he unit to go to "sleep" (but NOT turn off)
Thanks !!!
I also want to do this.
I have some spare cells that can use.
I think it should use less than 500 mAh with the screen off

Not necessary, with appropriate MTCD MCU and ROM version these units indefinitely sleep, consuming only 5mA, and immediately resume when powered on.
Suggest a search of the forums for all the info you might need.

+1 to that, i run a mtcd unit and a dual dash cam system (auto off at 12v) and they run fine over night without issue, when dash-cam shuts down stereo will easily not drain battery even after few days.
My Xtrons branded model came with a loop of wire with a quick disconnect on the main power loom. If I connect them, the unit will remain powered on after the keys are removed from the ignition. If disconnected, the unit will power down after a few seconds. (Still can't work out how to change this length of time though). What I'm thinking of doing is installing an inline switch so I can power the unit down fully if required when I know the car isn't going to be used for a while.
So, if the consumption is so low, in "normal suspended conditions", then the answer to the problem would be to keep the unit powered by the battery, but also keep on sensing the current to make sure it is really suspended and not consuming too much. My concern is that I do like to test new apps and ROMs in beta stage quite frequently, and I don't want to have any nasty surprise one morning because one app/ROM had a bug and kept draining the battery.
Another point to add is a timer, so after N days without starting the engine the unit is killed to protect the battery.
Anybody knows an easy way to get the unit to suspend when the power to the yellow cable gets off, but to not switch off? In the Androit 8 ROMs I use (Malaysk) the maximum timeout allowed before switching-off is 1 hour. Any easy way to modify this? (I'll do some research on my side also).
I'll post the circuit here as soon as I have some time to implement it

I did exactly what you speak of here. Look over the details I show and the instructions.
I'm willing to sell the battery isolator unit that I bought for this project. With the newer radios I don't need it.

This issue previously discussed in depth and answered.
Consumption, regardless of how many apps installed, is always 5mA in standby. From this it would take months to deplete the average car battery.
Instead of guessing, work it out

Nook Tablet BNTV650 Turns On Automatically and Opens Camera

Ok, this is going to be really weird, because I've never had this happen on an Android device before and I've had plenty of them.
My wife has a BNTV650 tablet that appears to really want to be used to take pictures.
The device is 100% stock and is running Android 8.1.0, Security Patch October 5, 2018.
We've had it for a while now, and as the cheaper tablets tend to do, the charging port went funky, which I imagine has something to do with the behemoth of a micro-usb cable that BN includes with it. It would only charge if the cable was leaning towards the front of the tablet, which as you can imagine is not ideal for anyone. So we got the dock to use for charging.
But lately, apparently completely randomly, the tablet will turn itself on and open the camera app. I've checked the volume key shortcuts and there's nothing installed that can use them. This happens when docked and when not docked, and is increasing in frequency as time goes on.
There is no physical damage to the tablet, and I can't think of a touch combination that would both bring the tablet out of sleep and open the camera. It only happens when the tablet is asleep and has been left for at least 60 seconds, and it can take up to 45 minutes to happen.
I'm kind of at my wit's end with this, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
