Anyone else has problem with screen autorotation? After December update autorotation randomly stoppps working and only reboot helps.

And another thing... Gyroscope and Acceleration sensor. Try Google maps navi and you'll see that the arrow never change direction when rotating phone. Google must have done something really wrong
Same problem for me after December update. Screen Rotate doesn't work, also direction in Google Maps and photos/videos are always vertical which is really annoying.
Yeah most of sensors are dead. Really don't know what to say now. How is that actually possible? And most important why we haven't heard any news from Google yet?

The Gyro sensor stop working on my Xperia S with .75 stock rom, the screen will not be rotate at all, I have tried the master reset, still doesn't work. If I use the compass, the screen goes blank and then restart. Please advise
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the phone does not use the Gyro in order to rotate screen. It uses the accelerometer...
And there must be an option to enable/disable it from the settings (I do not have the phone right now to be sure).
You turn it off in option, and you above me are correct.

The problem is the auto rotation option is already enabled, the accelerometer is control the screen rotation, while the gyro sensor detects the movement of the phone, they are both not working for some reasons, if I restart the phone, it might work for a while and then stop working again.
Use this code in dialer and test them

try to re flash using PCC if not 99% your phone will have 2-3 weeks holiday from you in Sony repair center because it the hardware problem. guess
Tried to restore it to the factory setting, reflashed through PCC. It is still the same. It might work for couple of minutes or otherwise hours, but then it starts not working again. It is really annoying! The funny bit is the display would just stay horizontally, no matter which way I hold the phone while the "auto rotation" option is enabled.
Probably send to the service centre is the only way, as my screen has the yellowish problem too. I need to get it fix anyway.

I solved it by opening the phone and then tapping the gyro sensor IC a bit. After that auto rotate started working and no problem uptill now.

Hey! Just recently I haven't been able to get my phone to auto rotate the screen. And before you ask, yes, I have screen rotation checked. I've Googled around and I haven't seen anyone with a fix for it, and was wondering if anyone here might have a solution or even know why this is happening. Thanks in advance!
I've noticed the same issue with mine yesterday. Had it in my back pocket and it slide sideways in my pocket and wouldn't auto rotate. Had to reboot in order to fix it. Did this to me twice yesterday.
Yeah, my first instinct was to reboot, so I did that. Didn't do a thing.
Hello friends! It's me again, I have a problem with my i777 screen does not rotate, so sometimes I have q q rotate several times to stay on one side, and then not turn back. I did the wipes required, I downgrade to 2.3.4 and nothing that could be? 4.2.2 worked fine before but suddenly stopped working another!
and calibrate the gyroscope and nothing! Currently I have the rom shoctock 2.5.1,

It's a known 4.2.2 thing that may be a carryover, but I don't know why you wouldn't have rotation if you're back on GB. When I had this problem I flashed back to a 4.2.1 rom and everything was fine. Maybe try that if your in-game rotation doesn't stick.
I received my sprint s6 edge today and have noticed that the screen will randomly go to landscape while browsing without any or very little movement and then it will get stuck in landscape. The only way to get it back to portrait is to return to the homescreen or another screen that forces portrait view.
Anyone else experiencimg this issue?
It's very odd I seem to be the only person with this problem. I've never had this issue on a phone before. I've noticed it seems to get stuck in landscape most often when using the stock browser, but it does happen with other apps.
My screen doesnt rotate at all .i have galaxy edge sprint version.im ok with it though but it kind of sucks that i cant figure put the issue

Nope .well yes if i force it to like when im in the youtube app for example i can swtich it there by pressing the button. I guess im loving the phone soo much right now that im overlooking the auto rotation as something minor .i hope they push an update to fix it .im still trying to search for a solution myself
Mine is totally stuck as well, ie thats broken. Anyone got any ideas on this, I am seeing more and more people on various forums with the issue.
At this point its back to AT&T for me....
it only rotates within the APP. To obtain full rotation you have to have a 3rd party app like NOVA and enable screen orientation within the settings.
Mine just started doing this today too. Noticed it first with my camera app symbols being upside down and all my pictures coming out upside down too. Then realized my screen rotation isn't working.

Nope not true..it doesnt even work with nova launcher installed...also anyone noticing the people edge lighting not working either...the phone is supposed to flash colors depending on the contacts when faced down...buts its not doing it for me

Hopefully this is just a software thing and they can push out a quick update.
Just realized that my screen rotation was normal before the update. I took a couple pictures at some point before the update and those are the only ones not upside down.
Has everyone with an issue installed the update? Anyone notice if it started afterwards?

happened to me randomly too. had to get a new unit from tmobile.
I have the tmobile version and mines rotates perfect
Got my s6 edge yesterday and gyro scope doesn't work so the camera buttons and picture are stuck on landscape and no apps will go to landscape mode so I tried the test screen which says the gyro is failing getting replacement on 21st, dial *#0*# to test it.

I have the Galaxy S6 Edge with Sprint and I took it in today because I am unable to view photos in Landscape mode I also downloaded some movies on it and when I went to the video player They wouldn't go into landscape mode either I finally figured out that If I turned off the screen rotation setting then went back and played the video a small screen rotate option apprered I tapped that and the video went into landscape mode I turned the main Screen rotation setting back on and it came out of landscape mode
I tried using the Internet in landscape mode and it wouldn't go period they checked my sensors and they were all working so I did a master reset I still can't view photos in Landscape mode videos are the same and if I view the Internet in landscape mode it locks in that way and I have to close it completely in order to get out of landscape mode
It has to be a s9software issue and Samsung needs to get on the freaking ball

Im saying the same thing. This has to be more of a software issue if the sensors are working. hopefully there will be a mnor update of some kind

I'm almost positive and the reason why is because when I was in the Spint Store and Best Buy I was checking out The S6 Edge both had photos downloaded on them as well as a few short film clips and the landscape mode worked perfectly
At Best Buy over in the Samsung area they have taken Wonders of nature movie that comes preloaded on the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablet and downloaded it on the all the S6 phones so you could really be amazed at how beautiful the display is on these phones
I watched that movie in landscape mode without having to go through all the hassle I'm having to now.
That's why I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on and neither could the techs at the Sprint store because they S6 phones that have been on display don't have this problem because they haven't been updated.
Or at least they hadn't been the last time I pcked one up and looked at it and that was Friday

Mine worked initially, at least I think it did because my pictures were normal. I took a few pictures when I first got it up and going and then later that evening I downloaded the big software update and at some point after that it was different. Not sure if it was the update or something else.
I feel like I'm going crazy trying to find evidence that anyone else knows what I'm talking about.
When I first got my Pixel 6 in November, if I had auto-rotate turned off, and turned my screen, a little circular button would show in a corner and I could tap it to make the screen rotate. It was really handy, because I never turn auto-rotate on, so in the rare occasions when I did want to rotate my screen, I could make it rotate quickly.
I've noticed it's gone though. Is there a setting tied to this that maybe I turned off on accident? Was it removed entirely? Could it be gone because I'm rooted? Please let me know. Thanks!
Edit: Nevermind. This is apparently tied to the navigation bar, which I hid because I use third-party nav. Very sad :- (
