There are 3 recoveries are build in . do you usually relock the bootloader after installing custom rom .? if yes then try this thing it will relock .
check it out.!
regards.

I have never installed to this device before. It will be first. I need to use NFC on my bank accounts so i should re-lock the bootloader. I will try it, thanks!

i haven't done yet i guess you can relock the bootloader with this one.
btw which bank is providing nfc..?

I am from Turkey. Lot of banks provide NFC support for transferring money to transportation cards etc.

I got an error saying "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file." I do have oneplus drivers installed. USB Debbugging and OEM Unlock are on.

[Q] Alcatel Fire E (6015x) development

Hi everybody!
On our 4pda.ru forum we are struggling with this phone in two ways- rootin it and unlocking in order to update manually to 2.0 and even 2.2; and other way- working android (already have beta rom which is exact copy of rom from another alcatel 6014x which runs android and similar to our Fire E 6015x).
if there are any enthusiasts about android, i can translate the guide for you and share the needed files and programs. Almost everything works except sim-card(when there is no one- phone asks to insert it, when there is one- phone says its not registered) but we are working on it
i came over a https://www.soeren-hentzschel.at/mo...ch-verteilt-firefox-os-2-0-und-firefox-hello/ that states that in Germany some people already received 2.0 update on their Fire E. Here arises my question- are here people who own updated Fire E? I mean update to 2.0.
If there are ones, would you be so kind to make a copy of your rom for our little development? I can provide you with guides and software on how to do it.
I can post guides for making this an android phone.
Hi my dear russian brother - greetings from Germany.
I do have an updated 6015x device to FFOS2.0 and I could dump the rom for U. Just gimme links to the needed info. My russian is not one of my strength, but I think I can manage it - I'm a bulgarian after all.
hej, i also have a 6015X (fire e) with firefox os 2.0 running
tell me how to make a rom which i can send to you
root
After few months of waiting my phone get the forefoxos2.0 update

Look, please, do you have in System settings parameters of russian language on your FFOS 2.0.
HOWTO ROOT ALCATEL OT 6015X:
1. Download CWM recovery image made for 6014x.
https:// yadi.sk/d/BIdXndcbfR2Gm
2. Download Install-SuperSU.
download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
3. Turn your phone to bootloader mode anyway.
4. Run modrecovery:
Code:
fastboot boot my_recovery.img
5. In CWM menu follow "install zip" -> "install zip from sideload"
6. On pc:
Code:
adb sideload UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
7. reboot phone
I am sure lowlevel utilities from android's SuperSU are working fine on any FFOS (because FFOS based on Android now).

I wonder how do you use it though, can you build it on its own? The B2G by Mozilla still hasn't got an option for this device.

I tried your recovery image but it doesn't seem to work. There is no error but after booting the image, the device isn't visible in fastboot or adb. For that reason, I'm unable to sideload the Su zip update.

Flashing the recovery image works though, then sideloading the SU image works from clock work mode recovery.
Ok, here's some news. I built a boot image that enables adb as root. All you need is to flash it on the boot partition and reboot the phone. I made a few changes to the boot image.
default.prop
Code:
ro.secure = 0
ro.debuggable = 1
To flash:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot3.img
and replaced /sbin/adbd by an adbd built with "ALLOW_ADBD_ROOT". (I used the sources fetched using b2g repo).
Cool thing..wish I am able

As far as i know even Firefox OS 2.2 is not officially released yet.
There are only pre Versions.
Has anybody else troubles with FFOS 2.0 on the Alcatel Fire E?
The phone sometimes hangs completely while it was sleeping. (Can´t wake up or even call the phone)
Only if i press the start button for some seconds the phone starts again.
I hope someone builds a FFOS 2.2 Rom for the Fire E --> Copy and paste :good:
How can I switch this piece of **** called smartphone to bootloader mode?
Softbricked 6015x
Hey guys,
I got stuck with creating the boot.img and figured out that the backed up one doesn't work.
Does anybody have a working boot.img for the 6015x, NOT the 6014x?
I tried also getting the venezuelian one, but those TLDs are not reachable anymore - all gone.
The custom boot images from the russian 4pda forum are also not working.
I currently have only access to ADB, the TWRP recovery mod (temporarily) and fastboot, so I need a fastboot working image.
The Mobile Upgrade Q / TCL Updater / QDST distribution updater is Windows only - and crawling the binaries for URLs is a dead-end. The tool also requires
a fully booted OS, so it's pretty much the dumbest update tool out there and not practical to use. As I don't have Windows, the imgc files for the eMMC flashing tool are also a dead-end.
I really need only the boot.img file.

Yes, my device constantly reboots and fails to initialize the display (seems like an Xorg alike error to me) when trying to figure out what logcat shows.
Due to the constant reboots I can't debug it using adb, because of constantly lost connections. That's why I'm asking for an OEM boot.img file.
I started to collect the working stuff over at github.com/martensms/alcatel-6015x (cant post links -_-)

Did you try to boot with fastboot or did you flash it to the boot partition. I had no success booting with fastboot but flashing works. That said, you have to install a custom recovery image.
Also, I'm working on building FFOS from sources but as won't be home for a month, it's kind of slow.

Both. Didn't work. As I said, I have no functioning boot image available. All boot images, from everywhere including your one, don't work.
I don't know what's so hard to understand. NO custom boot.img works. Seriously. None. Simple as that. I tried 9 different boot.img out, I even tried extracting the eMMC boot.img which obviously failed.
Again, third time, I just need an OEM boot.img in order to get further debugging my device because I can't debug my device in 3 second disconnect intervals from ADB.
edit: I unbricked my device now and made backup images of all OEM partitions - github.com/martensms/alcatel-6015x

That's weird, my custom boot works on my own phone. 6015x, it's a russian phone. Firmware revision: 01005, hardware revision 01, platform version: 28. Firefox OS 1.3.0.0 .
I guess, if you had a newer version of Firefox, there could be something wrong with the boot image.

This guide is outdated now. Please refer to the thread OPs of the respective projects.
Hi all, I am starting this thread with the very reason to educate and help newbies as well serve as a resource guide that could be used by all. I will try my best to update this thread often. You can ask any question regarding Moto Z2 Play aka albus here. Our XDA Community will try to help you. Make sure you always read before posting the same queries. If you're stuck in a problem, make sure you provide us with as much as information of what you were exactly doing and what happened along with your device details ofcourse.
Also remember that unlocking the bootloader will void your warranty. Relocking it won't give you back your warranty. If you are visiting a service center for repairs of any kind, they will come to know that you have unlocked your bootloader (you put a code on their site lol). But yea you can try your luck by visiting them after you lock your bootloader using the fastboot firmware.
No one, but you are responsible for whatever you do to your device. If something happens due to your ignorance or lack of backups or knowledge, only you are responsible, not the developer, not the XDA Community. Just read the respective posts, search (at XDA and at Google) before posting and you might probably find answers. Cheers.
Setting up adb/fastboot on your system:
These drivers are quite essential for every android user.
How to use?
Windows:
Minimal Fastboot/ADB: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120698566
Just install the setup. Reboot your phone in bootloader mode (Power off and then press and hold power + vol down simultaneously) and connect via USB cable. On your computer, navigate to the directory where you installed them. Press shift+right click and choose Open Command Window / Powershell here. Type:
Code:
fastboot devices
If you get a serial number, fastboot is working.
For adb to work enable Developer Options and turn on USB Debugging on your device. Open Settings app on your device and go to About Phone section. Next, tap 7 times on Build Number and get the Developer Options enabled.
Now authorize USB Debugging by allowing it (Choose something like Always trust)
Type this on your command window / powershell window:
Code:
adb devices
Again it should return a serial number.
If both these fail, you might consider rebooting your computer or even installing (MDM) motorola device manager. Make sure you don't have any crappy or outdated drivers. (Always keep your system upto date ) Anything else, you'll have to google up things.
Motorola Device Manager:
For more info regarding adb/fastboot open this: https://developer.android.com/studio/command-line/adb.html
Linux users might need to install it from their respective package manager repos, Ubuntu for example:
Code:
sudo apt install android-tools-adb && sudo apt install android-tools-fastboot
Arch Linux on the other hand:
Code:
yaourt -S android-tools --noconfirm
Similarly for the other distros.
Commands are the same. fastboot needs to be used with sudo.
Unlocking the bootloader:
Unlocking Bootloader
>>> Unlocking Bootloader will overwrite any data stored on your device, backup your files before proceeding <<<
Unlocking Bootloader:
1- Register
Head to Motorola website https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b and register your E-Mail ID.
Open Settings app on your device and go to About Phone section. Next, tap 7 times on Build Number and get the Developer Options enabled.
Head back to Main Settings Menu and go to Developer Options and switch the 'Allow OEM Unlock' option.
2- Getting Unique ID for each device
Reboot to Bootloader/fastboot mode (power off the device, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously).
On your computer, go to the directory where you installed the adb/fastboot drivers (or make sure this folder is in your $PATH to acess fastboot and adb system wide).
Open CMD/Powershell/bash in here. (Windows users might need to Shift+Right Click and choose "Open Command/Powershell Window here" , Linux users can open terminal as per their respective distro. Now , type
Code:
Code:
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
You will get something like this:
On a Windows Desktop, the returned string format would be:
Code:
(bootloader) 0240540162024205#4C4D3556313230
(bootloader) 30373as313630330df332323239#BD00
(bootloader) 8A672BA4746C2CE0a328A2AC0C39F95
(bootloader) 1A3E5#1F53280002000000000000000
(bootloader) 0000000
On a Mac OS Desktop, the returned string format would be
Code:
Code:
INFO0A40040192024205#4C4D3556313230
INFO30373731363031303332323239#BD00
INFO8A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F95
INFO1A3E5#1F53280002000000000000000
INFO0000000
Paste together the 5 lines of output into one continuous string without (bootloader) or ‘INFO’ or white spaces. Your string needs to look like this:
Code:
0240540162024205#4C4D355631323030373as313630330df332323239#BD008A672BA4746C2CE0a328A2AC0C39F951A3E5#1F532800020000000000000000000000
3- Unlocking the device:
Check if your device can be unlocked by pasting this string in the specific field on the Motorola website, and clicking “Can my device be unlocked?”
NOTE: If your device is unlockable, a "REQUEST UNLOCK KEY" button will now appear at the bottom of that page. Click on it and wait for the unique code to be sent to your mail.
After you got the code type the following :
Code:
fastboot oem unlock your_code
and wait your device to reboot !
Flashing TWRP Recovery:
IMPORTANT NOTE :
At first boot twrp will ask for "Swipe to allow modifications for /system" and if you choose to allow it system partition will get modified. So if you choose to reboot back to OS without performing anything in twrp, the OS won't boot (as verity check is enabled in stock OS/kernel) . To avoid this you have to flash either SuperSU or flash any of the verity disabler zips there in xda.
Force encryption is enabled by default in stock OS and twrp will successfully decrypt /data at first boot if all goes well
If in case decryption doesn't go fine, twrp will popup a dialog box asking for password and that means decryption went wrong and you would need to format data once via twrp wipe options and reboot back to twrp for functioning of /data
Downloads : http://www.androiddevs.net/downloads/
Keep the twrp recovery file (.img extension) in the adb/fastboot folder
Reboot to bootloader, open cmd/bash and type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
(if you want permanent flash) or
Code:
fastboot boot filename.img
(if you want temporary
boot)
Now you must flash the verity disabler zip.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:
After the twrp is done and you have successfully rebooted to system, it is a good time to reboot to TWRP again and backup your phone. (System and Boot most necessary)
Flashing Stock ROM:
Will be updated as soon as the fastboot version of the stock ROM is available.
Unbricking your hard bricked/dead device:
Connect your device via the usb cable, extract this zip file to the adb/fastboot folder and then run:
blankflash.bat file if on windows; the .sh file if on linux.
Once this is completed, you must flash the full stock firmware via fastboot. This is MANDATORY.
Blankflash zip: http://cloud.vache-android.com/Moto/albus/blankflash/blankflash.zip

Yeah, I am not sure what is going on this time around with the VZW variant. Since the Droid Z was bootloader locked and the unlocked Z wasn't (but not VZW compatible) I am almost expecting the same here, but I keep being told that the unlocked version of the Z2 will work on Verizon so maybe they just don't care anymore. I mean, the unlocked Nexus 6 and VZW Nexus 6 were pretty much the same phone too, and both were bootloader unlockable.
The only thing that gives me pause from going out now and getting the VZW version vs the unlocked model (whenever its slated to come out) is that Motorola's Bootloader Unlock page doesn't have it listed (yet). Either it can be and they are behind on updating the list, or it can't... at which point the unlocked one will be listed with a (Except VZW Model) like the other phones have. But... if either version works on VZW... what's the point of making one unlockable and the other not? Seems like a waste of time.... of course VZW's past decisions on phones don't make sense in some aspects.
All I know is... I want one of these if they are unlocked. Once the keyboard mod is released I will be back to the nerdy bliss that is a sliding keyboard and making this phone the spiritual successor to the Droid 4.

I have same issue yesterday and recovered by flashing Dm-verity and Forced Encryption Disabler via TWRP.
I think this issue is caused because SuperSU is NOT flashed correctly. Thus TWRP modifies system-area without disabling dm-verity, and results bootloop.
I have solved bootloop with disabler, but failure of installing SuperSU has not solved yet. Disabler seems no effect for FE...
SuperSU shows error message as below while flashing.
Code:
- Extracting ramdisk
--- Failure, aborting
As far as googleing this message, moto Z users have met same issue.
Ultimate solution is to extract, modify and rewrite boot.img:.

Start TWRP, and you can transfer zip file from PC by using "adb push"
"adb sideload" may work too.

Have you met this message but rooted successfully after boot?
Today I tried system-mode SuperSU, and met boot failure which continues to show Motorola/lenovo logo.
It is different from dm-Verity failure (which shows unlock warning).
Stuck in TWRP, Help
I have successfully flashed the TWRP but now it is looping at TWRP and when try to do factory reset, in just seconds it is boot again and shows TWRP main screen again, moreover storage shows about 50000 mb in internal memory, secondly my memory card is not accessible, selection is not working only shows internal memory. As I think at this stage my bootloader(stock) is fine, original stock recovery is replaced by the TWRP 3110 . My factory Android rom is still there in my phone because twrp inernal memory option shows about 50000 mb space captured in internal storage. I have clear delvik and cache but all fails, how I can get the OS by the TWRP. I assume if my old OS has been erased then twrp should have give the "no OS install" massage but this is not happening in my case. Any help...... I am not doing something more due to complete device failure in this stage mainthing is this no factory rom image is available yet, very annoying issue.... regards

The only way it worked for me was to install official twrp app, and flash twrp-3.3.1-0-Armor_6.img from the app to recovery, then click on reboot to rrcovery also in the app.
Twrp will only be available one time after the reboot (so it is not really flashed)
(Adb flash recovery doesn't work for me)
In order to use official twrp app, i rooted with magisk
U welcome
I'm confused now. How did you root with magisk without TWRP. The Magisk installation was basically the only reason for me to flash TWRP

Same as twrp
Install magisk app and do it from there:
Go to github website and download MagiskManager-v7.3.4.apk
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
From the apk you will be able to flash your boot partition with magisk (it will save a boot image flashed with magisk on your phone)
The second step is simply to transfer that .img on your computer, install platform tools (in order to use adb command line)
Launch cmd.exe in platform tools folder
Connect your phone to computer via a usb cable and usb debug enabled
Type the command "adb devices" to check if your device is recognised (if a window appear on your phone to enable connection click ok)
Then type "adb reboot bootloader" (you are now in fastboot mode)
Then type "fastboot flash boot (then the name of your flashed with magisk boot image.img that you previously put in platforms tool folder in order to not search for the path)"
Then type "fastboot reboot"
Then from magisk manager app update magisk
That's it
No need for a recovery in the first place to root with magisk
finally works. thanks you dude. I really appreciate your help

I also used that guide and couldn't get TWRP or Magisk to install on my new Armor 6E. I was able to use "Method 2" and SP Tool to flash TWRP 3.3.1-0, then I was able to flash Magisk using TWRP recovery.
I flashed Magisk-v20. 0(20000).zip
MD5 checksum: 56f82549e9f3c659a11f1f459e56489f
Now I seem to be stuck with the "Orange State" message at boot.
When I attempt to use TWRP to flash "no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip" I get the following :
-----
Installing zip file '[file path]'
Checking for Digest file...
Verifying zip signature...
Zip signature verified successfully.

Unpacking the installer...

The file has this MD5 checksum:

When I attempt to use TWRP to flash "orange_state_disabler_MTK Only.zip" I get the following:
-----
Installing zip file '[pathname]'
Checking for Digest file...
Verifying zip signature...
Zip signature verification failed!
Error installing zip file 'orange_state_disabler_MTK Only.zip'

That file has this MD5 hash:
30b01bb314d26643b6cc1dfce1d81cf5
I get nearly the same result when I attempt to install "ROMProvider.COM_orange_state_disabler 0.3.zip"
(Zip signature verification failed!)
That file also has the same MD5 hash:
30b01bb314d26643b6cc1dfce1d81cf5
TWRP asks for a password when I first boot into recovery. I also tried to contact them at the unofficialtwrp.com website (where I downloaded the zip files), but their contact page seems to loop back on itself.
Has anyone else run into this (and stuck with Orange State warning at boot)?

The Orange State disabler zip is news to me, and it sounds worthwhile to flash.
I successfully flashed the DM-Verity zip from an OTG USB drive after using TWRP to format the system and data partitions to EXT4. No success with ROMs yet.

I cannot confirm for the 6 (but is likely), but the 6E works with all phh-based GSI ROMs.
These phones use A/B images.

Can't post links even when quoting so you just have to google "treble project github"
I have gotten roms to work (use A/B even if treble check says its only A for somereason).
I wasn't able to get liniageOS to work (from the pie roms, i think everyting else seems to work) and android Q ones even thou it should be able to from what i have gathered.
IMPORTANT! It seems like every rom is missing basic features like gestures, i dont know if it has to do with the kernel maybe? Im nubie.
VERY IMPOTANT!! Lost my IMEI number from messing around with the phone so be careful! Im not responsible.

Would it be possible to get an MD5 checksum and filename which worked for you so that I might compare them? Did you get that file from the unofficial twrp page linked above then? Also were the "system and data EXT4 partitions" on the phone Internal Storage or the USB OTG?

I just ordered this armor 6e phone. I will be able to answer my own question next week, I suppose. Bit, in the armor 6 thread it is mentioned few times that there twrp works on 6e, now I found this thread, which says twrp will not stay flashed to phone.
Which one is correct?
If the armor 6 twrp does work, does it work to flash gapps? Because the y is not pie, and as such is not system-as-root, which from other devices, I know that makes recovery see the phone file structure different
Ie : /system_root/system not just /system
This difference needs different build of twrp.
I will give it a try when I receive it I suppose.

First maybe try out the unofficial TWRP (https://unofficialtwrp.com/twrp-3-3-1-root-ulefone-armor-6e/) maybe it works. I think i didnt get it to stick but its worth a shot ig and you can also try with the TWRP app (havent tried the app way). Sadly i dont remember where i got the file that sticks for me. If unofficial dosent work i can upload it to somewhere. I used ADB tools to download TWRPs. If you use SP tools to flash it while like doing a fresh install. It will go to RED state. You can use SP tools if you first install stock then unlock bootloader and flashing then only installing the recovery. You can install gapps mostly but u cant use dm veryeti disabler it messes with the IMEI at least for me. Im not that savy to know how to fix it. Its my first phone ever messing with. MAGISK works.

Thanks. I looked at unofficial, and unpacked there image. It is set to terrible enabled = no, and is not setup for system-as-root.
Also the prop file says it is for armor 6 not 6e, so I will just build fresh one and use that.

My phone is still not delivered. But I did compile twrp from source, using the September update files from ulefone site.
I started with the device tree from the armor 6, and made few changes that I have found to work for treble devices and system as root on other recent mtk phones I have.
But I can't confirm the build works. If you want to beta test it, let me know.

Galaxy A11 SM-A115 Need TWRP

I have this device rooted with magisk BUT cant find way to properly port a qualcomm twrp from similar devices i just need help to get started with custom recovery if i can get one to boot i might be able to fiqure out the rest if any "Bugs" are found thru out the custom recovery. any help would be appericated.
below is a stock image of recovery and boot if needed
both images were from a " .Tar " file. I then extracted the file and got the recovery and boot in " .img.lz4 " format and then i converted them to " .img " only for easy access to edit ETC.
Android Version : 10
Current Firmware Version : A115MUBU1ATC2
Chipset : msm8953
Encryption State : encrypted
#System as Root
Uses an A/B operating System

Why not compile a matching TWRP by yourself?
Look inside here.
@ jwoegerbauer i can give a try but have no experiences when it comes to makin a custom recovery.

Yea, im also looking for a way to get some sort of custom recovery on the exact same device. My advice is (if you cant build your own version of twrp) to just wait for some devs to release something for it. The galaxy a11 is a very new device so we'll just have to wait it out.
Edit: So I followed a tutorial here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=40&v=MyxGZbCuxDQ&feature=emb_logo) and i created this (https://filebin.net/u3yww2cyajktm043). IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK!!! USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

You can put the device into download mode and unlock the bootloader from there...
I'm currently stuck on this device trying to get it to unlock the boot loader. I've ticked OEM unlock but when I get into download mode (adb reboot download) I'm not getting any option to unlock the boot loader there. I'm also not able to get into download mode with any key commands. Any ideas here?
I've heard you power off, then hold volume up and down when you plug in a data cable. Haven't tried it yet, I'm on the a115u t-mobile variant. I can get to what it calls download mode, which looks to be fastboot and NOT the standard samsung blue screen download mode. Just boot to recovery and select reboot to bootloader. I do not have oem unlock in my dev settings, but I'll see if I can fastboot oem unlock when I get back to my laptop.
flash sm-a115u1 version firmware first. gives you oem unlock option. obviously toggle on and adb debugging. power off the phone. hold both volume buttons and insert usb cable. it will look like the normal blue download warning screen but read it carefully. it says long press volume up to unlock bootloader. it works. it will go black. release volume up and next it will ask you to confirm. choose yes. it will reboot and erase. after skipping thru set up enable dev options again and you will see oem toggle greyed out with a caption "bootloader already unlocked". thats as far as ive gotten. because now im like "what now?" i need a custom recovery file to flash to the device. any help with that out there? so now that the bootloader is unlocked can i install magisk to root and if so after that how can i network unlock? any help would be greatly appreciated. also looking for any custom roms that are available for this a11(2020). seems like a decent phone.thanks.
Situation:
You can build your TWRP it's very easy. Or get compiled version from A10 and patch your system.
As result you'll get a bootloop.
Why?
Samsung had f****d you up and give you a SECURE BOOT that's not possible to remove by bootloader unlock. If you're install wrong signed recovery loader will said to you:
1st something is going wrong and signatures are mismatched, lete wipe your phone!
Ok. You jad solved that and not wiped your phone.
2nd hmm, signatures still mismatched I'll not boot and go in ***!
Result:
Untill someone will not break this Qualcomm Secure Boot you'll not able to install custom OS or TWRP or any other good stuff.
Is there any updates that can be flashed with stock recovery

What's a point? Unpack firmware's AP_ file, extract boot.img, patch it through magisk, and flash through odin. But where in that thread header did you found the install root?
I want to remind you that recovery is bot a root part. That's why root thread and TWRP threads are separated.

Ahh I see. Sorry then.
You shall do that way. Find current fiware for your device, download it through fine software.
A result you will get 5 files with .zip extension.
You need to unpack file with AP_ prefix, i suggest you to use 7zip for that stuff. From file you need took off the boot.img.
Then boot.img you shall pack into archive.tar,
When you've done, down load the Magisk apk from github and install on your phone. Move your jew archive to phone memory/diwnload folder and start the Magisk, make patching of kenel, as result you'll receive the magisk_patched.tar, copy that file to your pc and start the Odin, place that archive in AP slot and flash it.
PROFIT!
But I want to warn you in android 10 and up there root and kernel system are different, now system is booting from super.img, and partition /,/system and etc are RO, so through the root you'll not able to change anything in system it would be wiped on next system restart.

[GUIDE] How to Root Nokia 4.2

This guide will show you how to root your Nokia 4.2. This has been tested on TA-1157 and is working fine.
**Important** - If fastboot does not recognise your device In step 5, You need to download a driver. Here is the link: Download Driver (by Beebom)
Search up how to install custom driver and install it to the “Android” device.
Requirements:
Nokia 4.2 with unlocked bootloader
USB Cable
ADB/Fastboot.
Python
Your current ROM file
Internet.
Downloads:
ADB Installer (by Snoop05 on xda) : Download
Python : Download
Payload Dumper (vm03 on github): Download ( Click on code and select "download ZIP")
Magisk APK (on your phone) : Download APK ( Scroll down and you will find the APK file)
Code:
** I have only tested this on TA-1157. Other models may not work, but technically they should work.**
** Your warranty is now Void**
Step 1
Enable USB debugging on your phone. If you do not know how to do this, Search it up. It is easy.
Once that's enabled, Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop and open the command prompt (cmd) and type adb devices. It should show your device in the list.
Step 2
Locate the Python folder. To do this, simply type "python" in the start menu and click open file location. Then, Right click on "python.exe" and open properties. Then click open file location.
Once the folder opens, make sure to not close it.
Download the payload dumper.py which I have linked in the downloads section. Extract it and place the contents of the file in the Python folder.
Step 3
Download the ROM file. If you are using lineage OS on your Nokia 4.2, Download that file. If you are using the Stock rom, Download that. It should be a .zip file.
Extract the stuff from that file and take payload.bin and move it to the python folder.
Now, Open cmd in that directory by right clicking and opening cmd. Then, Type the following commands,
Code:
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
then type,
Code:
python payload_dumper.py payload.bin
Once it is done extracting, Open the "output" folder. There you will find the "boot.img" file
Step 4
Use your USB cable or Google drive to transfer the "boot.img" to your phone. Once you have done that, Download the Magisk APK on your phone and install the app. (APK link in downloads section)
Once you have installed Magisk, open it and click "Install". Select the file from your phone and wait a few minutes for magisk to patch the "boot.img" file.
Once Magisk is finished patching, there will be a new file which magisk has created. Transfer the patched file to your computer via the USB cable or Google drive and make sure to rename it as "magisk_patched.img"
Step 5
You are almost done! Open CMD in the folder where you saved the "magisk_patched.img" and type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then type
Code:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Once done, Reboot your phone and Voila! Your phone is now rooted. Make sure to open the magisk app and check it.
If you need any help or you get any errors, post it down here below.
Also, If this helped you, consider liking the post!
