Question I'm not finding the "OEM Unlock" button on Samsung Galaxy A52 5g - Samsung Galaxy A52 5G

I unlocked developer mode and it's just not there in the options. I have T-mobile US carrier. Model number is SM-A526U and I'm on Android 12 if that matters

Would flashing the CSC to a different region work?

changing the date like in this video wont work either?

You can try but I think its only available for carrier free phones.
You can also try to use an expensive paid service I won't name, but there is no guaranty it will work and you could be in trouble with your phone carrier.

i just got off the phone with my carrier and they told me i need to meet 3 requirements:
1. have my phone paid off
2. have 40 days of service
3. have current service
So i got this phone under a promotion where I only pay $100 but its over the course of 24months combined with my monthly service billing. I asked if i could just pay it off now but they have this complicated credit system where, well i won't get into it. point is i can't unlock it right now. But she did say I can call back in 3 months after 3 billing cycles and the credit issue should be fixed and 40 days would have passed and they can unlock it then.
I just activated the phone yesterday and I wanted to root it before personalizing it so i wont have to start over later. Also I need to install PDAnet to hide my tethering so i can use unlimited wifi on my PC. as far as im aware PDAnet doesnt require a root tho right?

affirmative

I will do it for $1 million and the only guarantee I will offer is that your carrier will be pissed!

I have the same issue on my A526U that the OEM Unlock is missing in the Developer Settings. My phone is fully paid off, in service for over 1 year is currently active with service. Are you saying the carrier can enable this option for me? I kinda doubt it. Is there any other way?

"U" variant is U.S. phone
U.S. Samsung phones have had their bootloaders permanently locked, which means OEM Unlock will not appear for you

They're most likely talking about network unlocking and not actually bootloader unlocking.
BL unlocking is not something a carrier can do freely, it's more of a Samsung decision rather than a carrier decision.

Sim unlock t-mobile LG V10

I recently bought this amazing phone on ebay, and I'm trying to sim unlock it, the phone is not blacklisted, or financed, but It cannot be unlocked since its not in T-mobile database(even when it is branded tmobile phone with all the tmobile bloated apps), since T-mobile or LG cannot unlock it I was looking for a Root-unlocking solution for this since I dont want to start the process of returning the phone at this time of the year and I already paid for my country customs fees to get the phone here.
Is there any way to sim unlock the LG h901 using root mods?
Thanks, I will appreciate your answers
As per this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/unlocking-sim-tmobile-t3241032, it seems the only unofficial way to sim unlock may be to pay $44.90 here: https://www.unlockbase.com/phone-unlocking-service/tmobile-device-unlock-app-official-unlock/. Someone said it worked for them anyway..

I already tried that, and I got a refund from them, and two more unlocking service sellers (one seller on ebay and from releasemycode.com) the last one told me they all use the same server provider for the tmobile device app unlock, so it is useless to go to other unlock service. Thats why I open this thread to seenif there is any other way to sim unlock this phone
@yael20
Here's two options :
1. Ask your friend that have tmo service to call tmo and register your phone IMEI with their number and call tmo to unlocked it using device unlock app... since your phone not blacklisted or No financed.....[Worked for me].
2. Unlocked the BL... Install twrp... Root it and flash custom Rom ....install SuperSU and install regionlockaway.apk by @Chainfire same the creator of SuperSU and maybe it would unlock the SIM card. It worked for me in the past.... With Samsung ...htc phone....not sure LG phone.
*Swyped from T3DROID V10*
Let me know if what ted77usa worked pls

Looks like we will have to change our phones's CSC
To make it work, that raise a few questions:
1 - Can we change our CSC like it is done on Samsung Galaxy phones?
2 - can we flash the International, verizon, or ATT rom's CSC on our phone so we can get it unlocked or make it unlockable?
3- can I change my phone's imei to and old phone's imei that I have at home from the carrier where I want to use the phone with?
I'm not an expert and some of this questions may dont make any sense, but I'm just looking for some options to make this work...
successful non-TMobile SIM unlock
Bought mine SIM locked outright from T-Mobile with no activation, contract, or account. Paid $49.99 to Cellunlocker.net. it took 2 days. They were able to add my IMEI to the list so that the T-Mobile Unlock app saw mine as eligible for unlock. I selected permanent unlock & it worked without hiccup. I use mine on cricket now w/ no problems. I do not work for them or care to promote- just letting you know what I did that worked.

Thanks, I'm going to try that, but guys from unlockbase.com told me they all use the same server for unlocks, is that true?
Not sure, but I paid last Saturday and was notified that they were done Monday. No code or anything, no refund or apologies. I used the tmo unlock & it worked. That's all I know.
I'm in the same situation, bought it in eBay
I've tried:
Cellunlocker.net
Unlockriver
Unlockpanda
Releasemycode
... Now waiting response from onlineunlocks.com
But if they all use the same server as you said, so it's going to fall. =/
Buying from t-mobile outright is different story i guess. But my case the eBay seller said it was bought in bulk from LG, and not from t-mobile, maybe that's why cannot be unlocked. Sadly, I'm going to return it tomorrow.
I'm wondering what people's IMEI will show here: http://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx
I imagine that the phone has to show as valid there to be unlockable by these services?
My seller said kind of same thing too, he said he "used to work fot T-mobile" and got it as a gift directly from LG , so when I check the Imei in tmobile database it doesnt show as blacklisted or financed, but it is like it doesnt exist in their database. The seller says it has to be activated and used for at least 30 days in T-mobile's network to get registered in their database.
I'm not as lucky as you, my seller is open for a return and refund me, BUT I paid 18% of the phone selling price (500+) in customs ( since I bought it from outside of United States) and I cant get a refund on that, I choose to wait for now....
Nevermind, dumb question haha. Sorry

I also tried cellunlocker and swiftunlocks and was refunded. So what I did since the seller on swappa wouldn't refund was I called tmobiel and bought a north american roaming package which is $50 usd per month and I'm at least able to use the phone. Basically we need to have it in use for 40 days and they will unlock it for us.

Phone came with a tmo sim card. If yours was bnib it also should have. You should check the box. I'm actually considering staying with tmo since their prices for the roaming plan is better than what bell can offer in a regular plan and they have better features. Ie free visual voicemail.
But if you don't have a sim in the box you should call tmo and order one. I think that this is the only route for some of us to take.

I am in a similar boat - I bought the phone from Ebay and it was T Mobile (brand new sealed). No service was able to unlock it for me so I called T Mobile and opened an Pre-Paid account. I put $10 on and used this while in the States to show it registered on T Mobile system.
I called to ask if it was registered on their network and they said yes. When I contacted T Mobile today, they said they can unlock it today if I put alteast $100 in refills. So once I did that, and called back - they then told me they still could not unlock it as my IMEI number was not registered in their system and my phone was not showing as a T Mobile phone!
I escalated the issue to the Support team and hopefully hear a response in the next two days. I told them that I did all they asked me to do including calling several times to verify the phone was with T Mobile so they either unlock my phone or refund me the $100 I paid.

FYI: Ascend XT discounted to $40 at many Walmarts and even $19 at some too

Use the following link if you are interested in picking up this really nice device at an incredible price. Its the AT&T GoPhone version. Its now available for $19 at some locations too.
The link below shows the number in stock and price of the device at each store.

One just down the street shows 4. I may go get one to have a virgin (and a back up)

Note for clarity: carrier level unlocking does NOT affect rooting the phone (other than making it a pita to update).

Just wanted to note here that its been discounted to $19 at some Walmart locations which should trickle down to all of them if they continue to be in stock at a location. Keep checking the link I provided daily. I just got 2 more today at $19 as backup phones
I used DC Unlocker to get NCK code to unlock when putting a Sim in. The instructions were a little confusing for me but all you need is the NCK code.
From slickdeals:
This phone can be unlocked for $5 via dc-unlocker. This is a true unlock as the software actually reads the unlock code from the phone itself (which is pretty impressive).
If anyone wants to try this go https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy and make a account, deposit 4 euros = 4 credits. Download Hisuit on your pc which will download all the drivers. Plug in your phone, on your phone in the dialer type *#*#2846579#*#* and go into Background settings/USB port settings and switch it to Manufacture Mode.
Back on the computer, Download the DC-Unlocker and open it and set it to "Huawei Phones". Click auto detect and it will show your phone information. Login to your account and click "Read Unlock codes". It will display all the unlock codes for your device instantly(it reads them off your device). The NCK is the network unlock code you are looking for.
**Follow instructions here:
https://www.dc-unlocker.com/huawei-id-unlock
I will read through the threads here for rooting and roms. I would like to get rid of the AT&T bloatware.

Question Pixel 6 Carrier Locked vs Unlocked

I bought a Pixel 6 specifically to run GrapheneOS, and also because I figured it would have top tier ROM and hacking support in general. I didn't realize T-Mobile carrier locked their phones (this is my 2nd smart-phone, and it's been 9 years since I got my 1st one), so I bought a carrier locked Pixel 6. They say they can unlock it after it's been on the network for 40 days and it's paid off. I am trying to figure out if I should return it, and find one that is factory unlocked.
If I wait it out and get it unlocked, will there be any drawbacks compared to a factory unlocked phone?
Is there any risk that the phone somehow won't be able to be unlocked?
Thanks

I am a TMobile customer with carrier sim unlocked and the bootloader can be unlocked once the sim is unlocked. You can try to chat with a TMobile rep and request to have sim unlocked. Just be courteous, but persistent.

No drawbacks, they will be the same.
T Mobile could change it's mind between now and then, but I really doubt that. The CEO has been very vocal that they support bootloader unlocking.
I don't really see any difference between the pixel 5 and 6 reception. They both are not great. I was hoping 5he January update would improve it some but it just fixed the complete disaster that was December update.
As far as mmwave it is not worth it. The reception on mmwave is so poor and it would cost so much money to deploy. Right now I think it is really only in sports stadiums and malls places where there's alot of people in a small area and also in areas where there is no Verizon FiOS access. Eventually it will grow but I think it's going to be years before it's good enough. They basically have to have a cell tower on every corner and that will take years. And sub 6 5g is basically LTE++

They claimed they did the permanent unlock for me on the phone (twice), but it turns out they did a temporary (30 day) unlock. There is a T-Mobile unlock app which launches to a "check eligibility" button, which when pressed brings you to a screen with 2 buttons, "permanent unlock" and "temporary unlock". Before I called, both were grayed out saying "ineligible", but after, I was able to do the temp unlock.
However, this does not allow me to toggle "OEM unlock" in the developer menu, which is really what I need to do.

Just return the device and be done with it. Get a Google device and never worry that some jackass support person doesn't like your tone of voice and permanently locks it. How much of a hit will you take money wise?
I'm in the same position as OP and it sucks. the whole reason I went back to pixel after a Galaxy s20 was for modding and development :/

Things like this is what scares me. Aren't U.S. carriers legally required to provide a way to unlock their phones? Is a permanent lock something that can happen?
As far as money, I would only be out $40 for a restock fee, but that isn't what deters me, it is the sheer hassle of returning the device, going somewhere else to get one, going back to my carrier to activate it, etc.
If waiting 40 days from purchase to unlock the phone is effectively the same as starting with an unlocked phone, then that is what I would prefer to do.

A couple of things here stand out. Yes, they are required to carrier unlock not necessarily allow bl unlock. But obviously they have found a loop hole if you say you're carrier locked for 40 days. As for activation, don't you just pop the SIM in and done? It should auto register your new IMEI. eSim is slightly different.
The thing about spending 40 bucks and an hour or so in travel and effort will pay off in spades should you encounter any issues. Even for piece of mind alone. But I have never bought a carrier device since the Pixel 3 and it took me a month for Verizon and Google to finally say this guy is making us crazy let's just give him what he wants. I'm talking an hour a day on the phone when support was live. I will not go down that road ever again. So now it's your call. Others can jump in and I do know there are some success stories. Good luck.

Question USB Unlocking services

I have seen on eBay, USB Unlocking services for the S23 Ultra for around $200. What are these services doing? Surely its some sort of flash or hack that we could replicate? I bought what I thought was an unlocked S23 Ultra. I actually Traded my M1 Mac for it. It works a few minutes with a SIM, but then the signal goes away and it says invalid sim, this phone is locked to verizon. And when they say Verizon, it seems that they mean it. I tried a Verizon MVNO, US Mobile, and it treated it like a forbidden carrier. I was hoping maybe someone here could help me get this thing unlocked without paying $200 to some eBay guy to do what obviously anyone with the right knowledge could do.
Most likely a scam or just putting malware on your device
There really is no way anyone here can help you with a SIM Unlock. If the carrier cannot/will not unlock it for whatever reason, then you are stuck. Unfortunately, most of the Unlocking Services out there are scams. The few legit ones that are out there (no, I don't know of any), could not unlock your device untilt he Primary IMIE Shared Database is updated with S23 IMEI's and Unlock Codes. In the past, it takes anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months after a new device is released to get these into the database and for those that pay to access it, to be able to unlock your device.
This is because it takes a combination of Samsung and Carriers to update/release these.
There are several reasons an IMIE won't appear in the Unlock Database:
Phone is still financed
Phone has been reported Stolen (IMIE Blacklist)
Phone was never meant to be retail released (Test/Demo phones)
... and many other reasons
Sorry about this, but this is just the way it is.

The phone will never unlock unless it has the Verizon software on it. Even if Verizon sends out the unlock signal, it will never process on the device unless you have the U package flashed.
Adding to that not only the Verizon Rom but you have to activate it with a Verizon Sim and it will unlock after 60 days automatically
I guess I don't understand. it works with a mint sim for like 5 min then says locked to Verizon. this has to be a software thing right? and if its software we should be able to just modify something

It's not just software. On the server side of things whenever a phone connects to a network the phone sends the sim info and imei and that network verifies if it's an unlocked phone or not.

call Verizon and tell them you are travelling and need to unlock it so you can install a temporary sim card while you are travelling. This may or may not work for you.

I thought only iPhone did this, during its activation process. I was under the impression that SIM locks on android devices were all contained in the software and hardware of the device itself; hence the ability of the eBay sellers to use USB redirection to hack your device and unlock it.

If that even works, most if not all of those services are scams to steal your money or install Spyware or malware. But no all phones and all networks in the US do this
Try calling Verizon as another poster said and telling them you are traveling internationally and need to use another sim temporarily. That is the only way you will ever get it unlocked. I have gone through this before and that is the only solution other than fulfilling the unlock requirements from Verizon.
It is best to buy unlocked phone. There is a reason locked phones are cheaper. Because the carrier makes up the cost in monthly charges.
Your options are limited.
1) Sell it as a locked phone on Swappa/ebay or other. Buy another unlocked s23 ultra.
Return it to Verizon.
Use Verizon.

Question Can verizon sim lock my phone if I quit paying for it?

I bought verizon phones when they had the specials to get free devices. Dumb idea because it cost me almost 200 per month in service when I should have just bought one unlocked.
My question is, if at all possible can verizon somehow lock my phone so it cant be used entirely because I quit paying for service? It is right now sim unlocked. I just factory reset it and with the verizon sim out I didnt download the esim from verizon during setup. I used wifi to download visible (current provider) and their app installed the esim. It works. Im just wondering if verizon can somehow get the phone to in any way lock when I dont pay. the deal was they'd add promo credits to my bill to pay off the phones over 32 months.
I read somewhere about oem unlocking and running a graphene OS verizon might somehow still be able to revert back to its android OS install and lock the phone...
Im pretty upset I bought these when i wasnt thinking right lol. I didnt know verizon was so strict on bootloaders out of anyone...i cant even use graphene on it which is why i got the dumb thing.
Just FYI Im going to pay off the devices. The contract says I have to at least pay for data on one device to still get the promo credits. Which means the $20 5G for the tablet...not sure if they intended on me figuring that out. I just don't have the cash now to pay it off in full and wanna experiment with the phone.

They cannot sim lock the device because the device is off contact now, however you cannot unlock the bootloader due to it being a Verizon device.

Have you made any effort to disable automatic updates?
I would expect their best chance to assert control would be when installing an update. I would disable automatic updates if possible, set the flag that says "do not use data", mark your wi-fi connection as "metered".
If the deal was you pay for 32 months to get whatever deal you agreed to, I think you are obliged to pay for 32 months. Re-read the contract, see what the "early opt-out" terms are like.
If you just stop using Verizon services, without telling Verizon that you are cancelling, I don't think you can consider yourself to have "stopped using Verizon".
