samsung galaxy a21 - Samsung Galaxy A21s Questions & Answers

i got this phone from tracfone because my lg k20 was going out of service. but i do not use the phone much for a phone. i have tons of minutes and texts. anyway on thelg k20 when o got a scam call as all of them were scam calls because i had 2 numbers in the phone as legit numbers.
anyway on the lg k20 if i got a call i could swipe the number and tap block with a message. my message was i just blocked you scam number and then i tapped the number to check it for blocking
but on this a21 for the life of me i can't block a number unless i write it down and then manually eter the number. Does anyone know of a way to set this phone's setting so i can swipe the number or tap the number and have it just be blocked? the OS is 12 the OS on the lg k20 was 9 i think. so did they change the way to block numbers in the newer OS? or is this a tracfone thing?
if anyone knows of a way to do this feel free to send instructions along or maybe a YT that shows how to do it. on the tracfone site it say tap the phone then the dots then the settings and then jot the number. but then i have to have a notepad handy to jot the number just to go thru all those hoops and then enter the number for blocking. and then i have not found a way to send the message that i just blocked the number and not to call it again.
thanks

ok i need to start a new thread and i just do not see how to do it now. i found out how to start a thread took a bit

Atrix Call Reject option?

I'm coming from the Captivate, and the only option I'm really missing on the Atrix is the call reject feature. I want to be able to automatically reject calls from certain numbers and unknown numbers, can't find the option there anywhere.
I know I can use the 'silent rington' trick, but that's not idea and doesn't work with unknown numbers.
Any thoughts?
Are you asking to blacklist certain numbers, dismiss a call like with volume down, or have all calls for a period of time go straight to voicemail?
Blacklist numbers, I found an app for it though that I'm gonna try
Reject with Text
I was wondering something similar. With the Captivate and many other phones I had, there was an option to "Reject with Text." This was a nice feature I used every now and then. It seems that it is missing on the Atrix, does anyone know of an app or something that can do something similar?
I would suggest using Google Voice, which is free and open to anyone now.
You give out your GVoice number, and set GVoice to forward to your cell phone. No one ever needs to know your cell number direct, and if you change it..you just change the setting in GVoice.
GVoice allows you to actually block individual numbers--and generate specific responses to them! And you won't pay for the call, which would use cellular airtime if it was just your cell phone blocking it.
When editing a contact ---- under "Additional info" -> "Call handing" you can select "send strait to voicemail" .... however Mr. Number block is great for this by automatically blocking known spam by sending straight to voice mail or my favorite the "answer and hangup" tactic
The best solutions as stating before is Google voice as you can play a "this number is disconnected" or "the number you are calling does not accept unknown/blocked numbers" voice mail greeting.
Contacts > [Select a contact] > Additional Info > "Send straight to voicemail" [Check box]
I downloaded an app that works for me. The Contact thing is fine for numbers that you know, but not for unknown caller numbers.
I've tried Google Voice and wanted to like it, but its not my cup of tea.
It looks like the reject call feature and list is missing on this ROM, but not a big deal since there are apps to handle it.

The reject call feature works perfectly...the reason they don't allow you to just block all unknown calls is because almost nobody would actually need that. What if your mother ends up being rushed to the hospital because of an accident and the police try calling your phone (the number she gives)? Police officers usually leave messages but what if he doesn't want to so he tries calling a few times and thinks your phone is off because it always goes directly to voicemail?
It's not that hard to just hit "Reject" when you get a phone call from an unknown number...

The police would not be calling from an 'Unknown' number, if the police are calling me I'd see a number displayed on the caller ID.
I've NEVER received a call from a number tagged as unknown or blocked that wasn't a telemarketer call.
The 'reject call' feature, as I've seen it implemented on MANY other Android phones in the settings menu, is MISSING on this phone. Its not that it doesn't work, its that it is missing (AFAIK anyway)
I agree that it is missing, I miss it too. I used it all the time for a few numbers that kept calling me and asking for random names. Seriously though the same number would call and each time ask for a different name. All i ever had to do before was enable auto reject and click "add to reject" when that number, or set of numbers called. Now I will have to add it to contacts and then reject it. Not a big deal, and good to know that I have an option.
soo in the end whats the name of the free program that can reject automatically the unknown callers? i need that 2.(the SGS+ had that feature and it was awsome, i really need it)

Samsung Dive lock phone questions

I've registered a samsung account and I'm really impressed with the way this remote thing works. On testing, it rang my phone successfully and also retrieved my call logs for the past week. On find my mobile, it's found my road or at least, the marker is close to my road.
My questions relate to the lock tab.
The message displayed says " This mobile is lost. Please keep it for a while and I will contact you. Thank you." How would I find out and contact where the holder of the phone is?
Assuming the phone is lost or stolen, and I remotely lock the phone, I would then cancel the SIM card with T-Mobile and receive a new one from them with my same number and put it in an old backup phone of mine. Where I type the mobile number to receive notification of SIM card change, what number do I then put in?
on another note...how do you add your phone number in samsung dive? i means it recognize the phone model but say no phone number....
I guess noone knows.

[Q] FREE texting over wifi; but keep number

I have used a variety of wifi texting services like Heywire, Textfree, etc. The problem is that I am assigned a new number. I don't have data, so even though I might explain to people to text me on my mobile carrier's number (I get free incoming) so that I can receive it wherever I am, they always end up getting confused and texting my wifi texting number and then wonder why I don't receive it right away (because I might not be connected to wifi when they send it).
I need an app that can text over wifi (so I can avoid charges) but uses MY phone number. Even if it doesn't actually use my phone number, I don't care. But as long as it forces the person getting the message to reply back to my mobile carrier number.
I tried mysms, as well as ChompSms, etc; but they all charge to send over wifi to users that don't have the app. And What'sApp and others like it forces the end user to also have the app.
The fact that there are apps like mysms and ChompSms that send sms messages over wifi with your own phone number to anyone that can receive sms shows that it's possible.
Does anyone know of a COMPLETELY FREE one?
Oh, and about mysms. It syncs everything together and just fine, for free. I am talking about purely wifi texting (NOT through my carrier... my carrier charges me 10 cents per outgoing text; incoming is free). Here is what I did to try and set it up.
Settings > Websms connectors
Chose: Mysms out
brought to Google Play Store, downloaded Mysms out connector.
Opened Mysms again
Went back to Settings > Websms connectors
Chose: Mysms out
Checked off "Enable mysms out"
Then I went to create a new message to someone, and tried to choose the "Mysms out" option, but it's always greyed out.
Do I need to add credits? Is that why it's grayed out? If I click on "current text rates" in the mysms out settings, it says "The current global text rate is $0.12 (international only).
I took that to mean that the US and Canada is free and that if I was to send texts internationally it would cost 12 cents.
I just want something that is free for basic texting in the US and Canada.
I tried using Beetalk too, but a) I don't understand how to send an sms in the app AT ALL, and b) I downloaded the Beetalk connector for for mysms's websms to send an sms through it (supposedly it will use my mobile number but through wifi only?) but I can't figure out how to sign in. Nothing will work.
For example, when I "sign up" in the Beetalk app, I enter my phone number and my name (which then is my username?) and it sends a confirmation number via text to my phone. I enter the confirmation number and then it logs me in. But in Mysms, I check it off to enable it, and then attempt to enter my username (at least what I think is my username?) and then I've tried the confirmation number as the password, my "BeeTalk ID" as my password... I have no idea. How do I know my username and password? BeeTalk doesn't even require a password. I tried logging out and then clicking "Log on", but then it gets me to do the process over again; phone number, name, confirmation number; then logs me in.
I am SO confused! Any ideas? I tried contacting the developers, but no response to my problems yet.
Can't do it
Found my answer for mysms. No texting to Canadian and American numbers: mysms.com/en/mysmsout
Any ideas on what else I can do?

[Q] How to change my Androids physical phone number to my Google Voice number?

I have been looking all over for something about this and can't find anything What I'm trying to do is take my disconnected Android device and change the physical phone number to my Google Voice number so it will pick up texts and what not. I need to do this because my phone will not install Google Voice...probably because it's rooted and my custom ROM is not compatible
My other problem is: I tried Whatsapp and they need a phone number to send you a text to confirm the phone...WELL when my phone got deactivated by my carrier (Cricket), they take your number away and change it to a number that's not even a real number with area code 555...which doesn't exist. Kind of in a jam here..
All I want to be able to do is send text messages through wifi without a phone data plan/activation. If there is an app out there that doesn't require a phone number to use and the receiver of my text messages do not need the same app to communicate, that would be great! Here's to wishful thinking lol.
Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

Is there any way to block phone numbers by PREFIX if I have root access?

I know apps like Truecaller have this feature. However, that is not going to work for me (you will see why below).
I am trying to end the telemarketing calls to my phone once and for all.
What I did was get a Youmail account and I set blocked numbers to get the 3 tone thing with a "number disconnected" message if they try to call me from a blocked number or a number that is on my block list. This will tell that number to stop bothering to call me since it is disconnected (that 3 tone beep at the beginning tells their machines my number is dead).
It is not helping me much though because I keep getting calls from numbers that have my area code and prefix, but a different last 4 digits every time. I guess it's a spoof to try and make it more likely that I will pick up. As you can see, blocking these numbers are worthless since there are 9,999 of them.
However, if I could tell Android to block any number like so: 212-585-**** , then I would never get one again.
Unfortunately when I block all numbers containing 212-585 in Truecaller, it does not send the calls to the "this number has been disconnected" greeting, it sends them to my standard one which is useless for this endeavor. Basically Truecaller doesn't really "block" numbers at an OS level like Android does. It just hits the ignore button really quickly (I still hear half a ring). That's why it goes to my "regular" voicemail instead of my "this number has been disconnected" voicemail.
Anyway I do have root if that makes a difference. I'd really like to see Android include this in an update, but until then, if anyone could give me any advice on if this can be done, it would be greatly appreciated. My phone is a Google Pixel on the latest update with root.
